Just two days on from helping Team Europe to victory in the Ryder Cup at Bethpage, going unbeaten across four matches, Tyrrell Hatton is in Scotland for the defence of his Alfred Dunhill Links Championship title. A year ago, the Englishman became the first three-time winner of the tournament. Joining him are countrymen Tommy Fleetwood and Matt Fitzpatrick, the latter a fellow past champion, along with Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre. The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is played over St Andrews’ Old Course, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns, three world-renowned links courses, culminating in the final day on the Old Course. Fitzpatrick is among the Major Champions from six countries teeing it up this week as a strong international field assembles. The 2022 U.S. Open winner is joined by fellow Englishman Danny Willett, Ireland’s Pádraig Harrington, who is trying to equal Hatton’s record as a three-time winner, Germany’s Martin Kaymer, Australia’s Cameron Smith, South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen and American quartet Patrick Reed, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson and Bubba Watson as players to have won Majors. PGA TOUR winners Tony Finau, Aldrich Potgieter and Harry Hall are also among those in action, while a host of winners on this season’s Race to Dubai are targeting more silverware, including Norway’s Kristoffer Reitan and France’s Adrien Saddier.

Right, McIntyre. It has been uh exceptional stuff so far for the uh Scott. That was a nice par. That was important. He birdied the first, saves his par there at the second. Yeah, it just shows you how important that parot is because it allowed him to do this. He’s always the one to beat today, isn’t he? But he’s he got off to the absolute perfect start with that birdie at the first and then nudging this one in close and holding it. And all of a sudden there’s a bit of a gap appearing. Okay. Birdie five part six. And then at number seven, a good T-shot off a tiny little ups slope there which maybe allows him to get a little bit of more grab on the golf ball. And exhibit A right there. Lovely shot. John Perry who’s reached the 10th at the old course. 120 to go here. Well, you could see him really kind of wrap the hands over the winds. Howland off his left, drawing it hard. And what a beauty he’s played there. 14th Eagle put for Sterny. Well, he’s going to he’s should break the run of pass, John. Hopefully, he’s got a little bit left there. More than he would have thought. That’s how scared they were probably looking at, you know, feeling at one stage. It was a amazing back nine. Good up and down for Parry for the birdie at 10. But yeah, be slightly annoyed at the pitch cuz he’s left it left of the hole which is now down breeze. So it’s a hard putt to judge this right to left. This will be dive dive dive just catches the edge. You called it Wally. Tommy Fleetwood at the 10th at St. Andrews. Oh, back into the breeze. That looked like that hit a brick wall there. floated it up. Didn’t hit it hard enough. That’s a little bit beused. Eddie Pell playing in a team competition with Andy Murray. Nicely done, Eddie. Tommy Fleetwood. Yeah. Up the hill. Back into the breeze. Give it that little bit extra, Tommy. Oh, grabs a little bit of the hole and disappears. Thank you very much. Nice little round of applause. Rightly so. Christopher Wrightton the uh Norwegian. Yeah, our eyes are open watching this man. Now comes to final day at the office. He seems to just come up front. It’s humming out the left right now. Will it hit it? And it will. Good call. Great cut. Yeah, you can see the setup almost sort of leaning a little bit more on his left side for that sort of low drawing shot. How about that? Beautiful T-shot sets up a great chance for a two. Tapio Pulan and the Finn over at the par five 14th through four. He needs a good Sunday. Yeah. 126 on the race to Dubai Tapio. Great shot. That’s what I was going to say. Even on a bad week, this doesn’t want to break a whole heap this. Great pot. He’s got it. He’s now the start of something. Nice. Oh, big putt. Big cut. Good save on the old course. He’ll finish up over at nine. This is his ninth hole. Good kick. Asking it for a big bounce. So yeah, down the right side. Often quite a soft place to be, but a nice angle. Yeah, he said it’s a bit longer than it looked from that initial angle. And he breaks his run of pars, I’m afraid, with a bogey, the 2010 Open champion here at St. Andrews. Very surprised. I thought he was the one to challenge McIntyre. Scott Hollison. That’s a little cruel, isn’t it? It’s a big decision to make because driver obviously carries all the bunkers. Not an issue, but then you end up through the fairway in the in the tufty stuff on the ups slope. Easy, easy. Yeah, that’s fine. Now, I might be slightly blocked out by the Gws, but yeah, he’s gone right through the avenue. I’d be surprised if he even knew that bunker was there. Well, yeah. Points the other way, doesn’t it? You play some amazing golf courses and you and you make some friends for life. He’s out, but the balls out and the next shot’s not going to be terribly easy either. He could bump this if he so chooses, but I doubt it. You got to play the percentages, so expect this just by it. I can’t believe out of the rough the shots they’re hitting. I’m going over to look at those grooves. Let’s head over to Carnushi. Tapio Pulinan 12 under par in a share of second place has this to go solo second. Oh, there you go. I’m slightly biased. This boy can play the game. It’s nice to see him fulfilling some potential. So many people’s favorite place in the world. That was brilliant. Go on, Jordan. Go on then. Stop it. He’ll be quietly enjoying this week. Strolling around the town. I think he’s really, you know, taking the vibe in and enjoying the fact that he’s come back to somewhere that he would have played open championships at. And here’s Paul and over at Caru steep. Oh my goodness. Wow. Absolutely. Well, that’s come at the right time. Wow. 10 ft past would be more than acceptable. That is incredible. I mean he played well on the last that is just out unbelievable. Mindblowing. Yeah, that’s a work of art. Playing havoc now. It’s perfect out here. Just a wedge. Expect this reasonably close. As I say, the lie is just absolutely perfect. It’s another absolute beauty. Even closer the effort on the last. He’d love this to dig its toes in and then just release, but I’m not so sure the lie is that good. It could stand to attention. He’s aggressive with this. Unbelievable exhibition goal from these two now. P is working a dream. Is he holding another one? He has. Wow. Watch out everybody. Stern’s coming. Sterling at 15 under, three back as McIntyre started to hit a couple of difficult holes. Same style of putt as Bob Furo. Yeah, Jobs are good in birdies galore. Better late than never though. Has just blusted up a little a little out of his right. That’s a big birdie there with the challenge of 17 still to come. You can almost put this out of reach even from the surgeon Stern. Don’t feel your part at 17. Nine iron in hand. Beautiful. Look at that. Couldn’t leave it in a better spot. Lovely T-shot from Tommy. Got a good scamper on for him. Got the favorable bounce. put it beyond the flag. Fairly simple putt back towards this Sunday pin position and it will be the easiest of threes to close the week. Just trying to nudge this in there low, kill it into a little ups slope to the side of this green left hand side. Stun it and then release it up to it. Beautiful tight lie. divine touch and pretty much punctuation mark on what he’s delivered across the three days. He has been the best and by a margin left right That’ll always hurt. Blast hole. Miss putt in front of your home fans. Keeps alive a glimmer and it is only a glimmer of hope for Sterny. But look at that. 366 is in these conditions. That’s going to be hard to best. Yeah. Tremendous golf from Scotland’s start. Four shot for Pulinan now after taking his drop from the ditch. Up and over the mound we go. Filters down. Not bad at all. Great touch. Well, that is a super touch. Very good. It’s going to be a drop shot. It’s going to be second drop shot in a row though. And this is where the shot ended up long and left in the bunker on the ups slope though. Quite a straightforward bunker shot from there and got a feet for his. Yeah, a bit of work to be done. Got off to a lightning fast start today. He was five under through the first eight holes, Eddie, but Oh, very nearly. [Applause] One over for right out to Sterny and a parart for him at eight. Well done. Nicely rattled in. Well hold. I mean he’s never really sort of been in a position like this uh for quite some time. So you’ll have enjoyed the nice little thrill of the challenge. You’ll want to take this flag on. Oh, lovely call. Great shot. Touch of class from the open champion. Adrien Sadier has been straight. He had a horrible finish over at Kings Barnes in the worst of the weather. Oh, that will do very nicely. Yeah, jumped up in the air. That one went into the back at a serious rate of knots. What a season. Just what you said to Bill Murray. You know, the game just seems to give you something when you least expect it. And finally to Matt Fitzpatrick for birdie at the last 71 for Matt today. Let’s hear from our champion with Wayne Riley. Robert, you are the Dunhill Links champion champion of 2025. How’s that sound to you? No, unbelievable. Anytime you can win a golf tournament on on these shores is is special. But um yeah, just delighted the way I done it. played played really nice over the three days and yeah, here we are. I feel as though out there calling the shots there today with you and I was very impressed. You played wonderfully well. I mean, it was such a distinct advantage to be used to these sort of weather. Would this sort of weather? Would you say that’s fair? Yeah, it is. It’s just the biggest thing is being able to maneuver the golf ball um and not be scared. I mean, the biggest thing on the three golf courses is stay out the pot bunkers. Yeah. um especially off the tea and I done that well apart from the first hole at Kuste the first day. Um other than that I thought I managed it well. Stayed out the pot bunkers but then once you’re in position it’s about controlling the golf ball to to then land softly around the pins when you when you get a chance and um I thought me and Mike done done a great job in that. You’re the Genesis Scottish Open champion a few years back and now winning this huge championship once more. I mean, with all your home folk here, it must be a blast. Yeah. No, it’s brilliant. Um I don’t know how how we’re going to celebrate after um the celebration we had last Sunday. Yeah. Yeah. Well, tell us about that, too. Yeah. We’ll we’ll um we’ll try our best. I don’t know if it’ll be tonight, but it’ll be over the next couple of weeks. We’ll have a nice celebration. And yeah, it’s just look, anytime you can win, it’s difficult to win. And yeah, it’s just a a beautiful ending to a good week. I mean, how did you do that? I mean such a everyone’s so very proud of the team the Ryder Cup team that triumphed over there. It was just so amazing. We all watched it and as I say very proud. I mean where did you muster up so much energy? To be honest I don’t know. I had a laugh and when we were driving the buggy back down to the clubhouse. Um I’ve done everything against the book this week. Um from preparation I pitched up Wednesday afternoon. And I know the golf course has played about 12 holes on on Wednesday. The diet has not been good this week. I can confirm that. I’ve eaten plenty of takeaways. Um you’re not Robinson Cruso on a desert island, let me tell you. And um the fish and chips get a workout up here. Fish and chips. Um plenty of others. But yeah, it’s been it’s been uh yeah, sometimes when when you’re least expecting it, things happen. And it was the same when I won in Canada. It was everything that I wanted to do, I didn’t do. And yeah, here we are this week. Congratulations, Robert McIntyre. You’re a great champion and a worthy one. Thank you. He had a little weight, didn’t he, to uh see whether anyone could catch or pass him. In the end, they couldn’t, and he won by four shots from his RDER Cup teammate and last year’s champion, Tier Hatton. Good finish from John Perry. Richard Stern’s done enough to uh keep his car for next season. Likewise, Scott Jameson. A thoroughly enjoyable day here in Scotland. To watch another DP World Tour video, click here.
