“Pathetic behaviour” | Sunday supplement react to Ryder Cup crowd
Just want to uh refer you to a piece from one of your colleagues, James Coran, in the Sunday Telegraph. It’s the fallout from the Ryder Cup from uh last weekend. Sorry America, it is all your fault. The apologies came more than 3 days after the most disgraceful event in golf history and only after Tom Watson announced that he felt ashamed at the fans behavior. Those crocodile tears were pitiful, particularly those from PGA President Don Rya, a brazen character who seems to be to self-awareness what Scotty Sheffller is to forsomes and four balls. Um, is it all their fault? Is it a US issue and not a Ryder Cup issue? I think our sports editor should tell Jamie to say what he thinks. Um, no. Yeah, I think I thought it was absolutely pathetic. I mean, I just this is a sports event. I mean, what are these people doing? Are they not going there to enjoy themselves? I don’t understand this kind of go in this continual pathetic behavior, juvenile behavior, whatever you call it, drink fuel behavior as well at a at a at a golf tournament. I just I find the whole thing extraordinary really. I mean, golf is to a degree a sport of etiquette and behavior, whatever. But, you know, you’re allowed to be tribal, but what are they trying to achieve? Do they enjoy any of this? I just don’t understand it. And I think the Americans are to blame because they kind of encouraged the behavior. The PA person was was was leading the chance. I mean, what are they doing? I mean, do they want do they want the RDER Cup or not? I mean, if I was a golfer, I’d be thinking, do I want to even play in this competition if it’s going to be like this? On the flip side, because we did speak about this, and I don’t want to put you in it, um, Julian, but you you had issues with how Rory Mroy reacted. Yeah. I just think he was it was probably difficult for him to go through it because he was clearly at the aim of all a lot of the abuse and so was his wife, which is not nice at all. I just I just think that he dropped the f word a couple of times when may maybe maybe he should have tried to be above all of that and I know it’s difficult so maybe he did the right thing or suddenly he felt like he did but at the end in the celebration they covered the Shambo’s name with the European flag and I just think there was things that maybe they could have been the European could have been even classier after that incredible win. Fantastic stuff. Thank you so much for joining us on Sunday supplement.

i do think the Americans don't care about the Ryder Cup, i think the Europeans really care about the Ryder Cup and that's why they have won six of the last eight Ryder Cups
I don't often find myself agreeing with Julien but he's right. What the USA fans, some players and the head of PGA USA were like was abhorrent but McIlroy needed to be classier and not stoop to their level.
The problem is golf was never intended to be a team sport.
This is 100% a US issue. At no European hosted Ryder Cup are American players shouted at when trying to play their shot, or disgusting abuse thrown at them and their family, or beer hurled at their wives. How Rory kept his cool as much as he did was amazing given he was the main target of this disgusting hooligan behaviour and he stuck it to them with his golf. He deserves no criticism for responding a couple of times given the circumstances. The American Captain, Head of the PGA and the "fans" should all be ashamed of themselves.
We shall see how tough these yanks will be in Adare manor in 2 years when they can't hide behind there flag..
The acceptance of it from all senior Americans associated with it apart from Tom Watson, sums up America's society. Did we really expect anything else, was it surprising, was it class, was it dignified, was it sporting? What's the next level up? Automatic weapons, that's another thing they don't want to ban, maybe give the European stars ten seconds start before opening fire. If you don't know the problem you won't know the cure. It will still be heading in the same direction next time in America but another level up. It's a real shame because you can see what it means to the players and captains. We loved because of the emotional commitment from everyone, just cut this bad part out before it devours one of the greatest tournaments in the world.
Welcome to Trumps new America! Disrespectful and disgraceful!
I bet there's folk in the US tourism industry been having a few sleepless nights
Consequences are lacking just blah blah blah
