what what would your message be to Europe’s fans for two years time um about where they should set their behavior bar? Um I mean in my opinion they don’t have to do anything differently, you know. Um that Saturday afternoon is one of the best things I’ve ever seen in in my entire life. Like the the the the chanting, the cheering, the songs, like that that’s to me is what makes European fans so great versus American fans. Um, not to say American all American fans are under this umbrella of the abuse because because they’re not, you know, it’s always a small few. I saw the interview that that was um with the PGA guy uh discussing about it was the same in the in Rome and it was I think it’s pretty offensive to European fans the fact that he said that really um you know I don’t want to speak in behalf of everyone but we we did feel that uh there was a little bit of bitterness when we uh got got to to the presented the trophy there and shook the And so can I just clarify, sorry, just when you say you knew when you picked up the trophy that there was a bit of bitterness there. Who specifically are you talking about? Well, the the the CEO of the PGA in America was it was me and me and Rosie both looked at each other as if to say like that wasn’t very it wasn’t very heartfelt uh congratulations. I know that. And um yeah, and and he said we only retained it, but actually we we won it.

  1. I was in Rome for all 3 days. There was absolutely no abuse towards the American players. The Dons are World Gaslighting champions.

  2. PGA CEO 'America'….just another of the idiots who think the USA is the greatest country and is an obnoxious bad loser….Sadly, all Americans get tarnished by these deluded morons.

  3. I noticed the retained comment. Wasn’t an accident. You could see he stressed it. How petty do you have to be to be so high in the corporate side of a professional sport and still so bitter and childish that you can’t give respect to the better players.

  4. I'm not excusing the abuse. I wasn't there but Matt clearly seems to be forgetting that their fans in Rome literally instigated a physical altercation between the players and Caddies including their beloved overated Rory with their treatment of Cantlay. Let's not forget that. They can do all the chants and cheering that they want but the hat thing that lead to Rory's ridiculous overreaction was instigated if not caused by the European fans in Rome. You're professional athletes, people being mean sucks and isn't ok, but words don't hurt. We learn this when we are in kindergarten… Or at least we should.

  5. The way, Rosey, Tommy, Fitzy, Luke Donald handled this whole tournament and the media with absolute determined class. True gentleman, to have the trophy presented in that bitter way. They must have been laughing. If we lost it would have been a hand shake and recognition. Look at when Justin rose has lost previously.

  6. Love how Fitzpatrick is calling a spade a spade here, he's right though saying they retained the cup instead of winning it was daft

  7. The head of the PGA basically said "congrats on retaining the trophy" couldn't even bring himself to say the word "winning" it was pathetic

  8. This is a reflection of the adversarial nature coursing through America currently; rudeness as acceptable.

  9. Long before the Ryder Cup even started the media and players themselves kept going on and on for months about NY fans and how loud and raucous they will be. They just lived up to the hype…a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy. And no surprise the line between whats good hearted, fun spirited support and over the line personal attacks became blurred. All the conditions were there: the particular fans who are notorious for such behavior, the pre-Ryder Cup hype surrounding NY fans (one could argue encouragement), and alcohol.

  10. In Rome European fans were abusive. End of story. Keep in mind this was New York it’s a different blend of American. If this was played in another part of the country it would have been different. Europeans tend to do this they lump Americans together. Europeans are generally soft. See what I did there ?

  11. How long are the Europeans gonna sit around and cry about their win? This is getting pathetic.. then he cries when someone points out how fans in Rome were just as bad.. tosser

  12. It's unfortunate that because of the DF New York fans, the European players have to spend way too much time fielding questions about the personal attacks on the course instead of talking about the win, the great experience, the satisfaction, individual performances, etc , etc.

They just lived up to the hype…a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy. And no surprise the line between whats good hearted, fun spirited support and over the line personal attacks became non-existent. What did you think was going to happen?

  13. Nice job not saying all American fans. I never heard big mouth RORY say the same. Little disappointed in Fleetwood. He should have said the same, American fans adopted him and cheered harder for him over Americans. The crowd was deplorable, no doubting that but that not a true representation of the average American golf fan.

  14. Brits and Irish will be appreciative of good golf. They understand the game, unlike the drunken rubes in New York. Shameful. Won’t happen in Ireland except in some pubs.

  15. i'm not sure why so many don't understand what retain means.. when Europe already won it previously in 2023, then retain means to keep possession of previously won Ryder cup this time round by Europe in 2025.. just like when Usyk beat Dubois, Usyk retained the WBA, WBC, & WBO that Usyk won previously and won the IBF off of Dubois.

  16. Love this guy… he’s evidence that game can be played at a high level by all sorts of body types and various strategic approaches ❤🎉

  17. We are Americans and we are disgusted with stupid, silly, immature American golf fans…THEY ARE SO OBNOXIOUS ! ! The world looks at Americans on disdain.

  18. The American fans that were abusive are an embarrassment to America. They're probably the same people that cheered when Charlie Kirk got assassinated.

  19. Anyone that was being disrespectful and volger is a clown and a moron. We don’t want you in our fanbase. It’s a game of class. Most of you couldn’t hit a ball more than 100 yds and shoot 150, so have some respect. Smh.

  20. New York should never hold another Ryder Cup event. Ever. Complete and total embarrassment. This is golf. Not the NFL.

  21. Score flattered the American team, first two days decided it and Europeans put it on cruise control the final day. Swift kick in pants for Youmerican egos never gets old

  22. Trump and the MAGA Cult have given the dumbest most ignorant, offensive Americans permission to flaunt their low life nature in public….

  23. Players aside all this Ryder cup showed was how classy the EU fans are and how classless some of the American fans were.

    The real loser here? Golf…

I'd be pretty ashamed if my fellow countrymen acted the way they did…..

  24. I have two different viewpoints on this…first, people should have enough class not to shout derogatory and defamatory things at athletes. It’s fine to root against them, it’s fine to heckle them (with reason), it’s not ok to abuse them. The standard of conduct should be enforced very strictly. If someone crosses the line, remove them. Period. If you can’t determine who in a group did it, remove the entire group. Period. That will deter future poor behavior. Second, golfers need to have a little thicker skin. “You can’t make noise when I’m playing my game!” Come on. Every other athlete except maybe tennis players have to deal with unrelenting fan noise during their games/matches, etc. If you can’t hit a ball because someone is too loud, then that’s mental weakness on your part. Instead of trying to silence the crowd, which allows single random people to blurt out at the worst possible moment, just don’t silence the crowd. Let the noise go on and it will all eventually fade into the background.

  25. I apologize on behalf of the sore loser, entitled American fans. It is a reflection of our country currently. Europe played great and I hope that Europeans don’t think we’re all like that.

  26. Americans just spent 4 of the WORST years in an administration (Biden) EVER. An absolute disaster for the American People. They have been on edge and now releasing the frustrations of being led by a incompetent idiot. PLEASE accept our sincere Apology!!! SORRY!!!
