Jonah Schollaert did something Tuesday no other Our Lady of the Sacred Heart golfer has ever done: win a WPIAL title.

The senior, the first-round leader, held off a late charge by Greensburg Salem sophomore Luke Sikora to win by two shots at Valley Brook Country Club in McMurray.

Schollaert entered the final 18 holes with a two-shot lead. Sikora got within a shot but never could pull ahead.

Schollaert shot a 2-under-par 69 during the first round at Hill Crest Country Club in Lower Burrell.

He shot 3-over 75 on Tuesday to end up at 1-over 144 for the tournament. This is the fourth time he has qualified for the state tournament. He tied for second in 2024.

“I have put in a lot of work into it,” Schollaert said. “It is awesome, I finally won a WPIAL title.

“No. 15 was the key. I made a nice putt, and he missed and then I birdied No. 16. He did get it close.”

Sikora, who has recorded three holes-in-one this summer, pulled to within a shot on No. 15 with a birdie while Schollaert had a bogey.

But on No. 16, Schollaert got the three-shot edge back when he sank a 12-footer for par and Sikora missed his par putt from 4 feet.

“I did not play amazing, but, you know, I scrapped it around all day,” Schollaert said. “I just did not do anything stupid.”

Even though Schollaert bogeyed No. 17 to give Sikora a chance, he was able to protect his lead with a par on No. 18.

“I just could not pull even with him,” Sikora said. “I missed the 4-footer, and he made a long one.

“To be honest, I hit it terrible. My putter saved me a lot of times, or it could have been worse. I was not very confident.”

Sikora said he needs to work on his game before he goes to states.

The top 18 golfers advance to the PIAA championship Oct. 20-21 at Penn State.

Earning the bronze medal for third place were Neshannock junior Rocco Bautti and Sewickley Academy freshman Trey Susa at 6-over. Riverview junior Ian Stempler was fifth at 8-over.

Elizabeth Forward junior Aaron Didjunas finished sixth at 10-over. He was the only golfer under par, 1-under 71, during the final round.

Others to qualify were Shady Side Academy junior Alex Avi (11-over), Ligonier Valley senior Tyler Jones (13-over), Deer Lakes junior Christian Cappetta (13-over), North Catholic junior Eric Proie (15-over), Riverview junior Rex Roberts (15-over), South Park freshman Austin Glowacki (16-over), North Catholic junior Christopher Faber (16-over), Freeport senior Ethan Crooks (17-over), Avonworth sophomore Chase Hogan (17-over), Eden Christian senior Jackson Bremmer (18-over), Bishop Canevin junior Jamin Brock (18-over) and Shady Side Academy junior Brawley Niels (19-over).
