at the well known Sportfiskegiganten with a limited budget I’m gonna find the
most affordable rod, reel, line and lures to be able to catch the some
perch in Malmo canal My competitor today is Alexander Björk
instead of Edvin Alexander live down in Malmö He’s somewhat of a gear nerd and have
all the latest tech in fishing And he can use his regular gear 2 fisherman with completely different
conditions to catch fish the one who catch the longest perch win will the gear be the deciding factor? Or is it just about who’s gonna
crack the code But first I’m gonna read some

where do thy live Team Galant? It looks like a lost human
from Northern Sweden But Team Galant lives in Småland I’ve come all the way to Malmö and
are just outside SportfiskeGiganten I have a friend named Alex that I fished
with before we’re gonna have a store challenge Alex are working in there he has gear for tens of thousands I’m gonna head in there with a budget of
just 1500:- and see if I can buy everything I need
to beat Alex Here we have him – any toads for you yet?

for a good fishng set we’ll have to see if you got the
skills to beat me though we’re gonna be fishing in Malmö Canal I’ve spent a lot of hours there It’s a tough water to fish The perch can bu quite tricky You need gear that can perform I found something fancy here Let’s start with rod, reel and line It’s often best to buy a combo set look at this set look what happens when you reel it in some flashing lights I’ve never seen anything like it imagine fishing at night in Malmö Canal and see the flashing lights everybody will see where I’m fishing I’ll put it back though I’ve found a really affordable combo set for only 659:- just a few slight problems first of all it’s a nylon line you can’t feel the bites with it the rod is very stiff more like a sea fishing rod even though it’s affordable it’s not
the right rod for this fishing Canal combo with braided line
for only 999:- what a catch just what I need
for fishing in Malmö Canal a Shimano Nexave reel paired
with a select 4 rod not bad at all I’ve looked through all the rods in here this is the most affordable set in here I’m gonna take this one then I have 500:- left for lures I’ve found some flatnose mini an entire wall of Kanalgratis lures I can buy a lot from this wall Here’s some news from us at Kanalgratis a prerigged flatnose mini one for murkier water and the other one for clear water these looks hotter Hardlures like this spintail is
really hot now in August – September a derracoup from Illex they are quite expensive, 209:- here’s one from Berkeley
a pulse spintail for only 89:- this one is 21gram, a bit to much the pulse tail seems popular So I have to buy the expensive one
from Illex I hope I’n not gonna get stuck with it I have a jig and a hard lure I need something more finesse now Ned usually always work when the
perch are tricky let’s see what neds I can find in here Here’s some nice cheap
scissor comp from Select I want something more worm like always a safe bet with worm like ned I’ve found some here for only 79:- they are perfect for ned rig I tihnk I have everything I need

a Canal through all of Malmö the most common fishing is street fishing you fish from shore
in the city centre a combo of easy and that for many
years have been caught a lot… … of both big and many perch fisherman fishing here has gone up what’s better
than start with some ice cream? I thought we where gonna fish but
Alex just bought some ice cream with some really weird ones a good way to warm up before fishing much better than walking in the swamp this one was really nice Here we are at the castle and this is where we’re gonna
star fishing but first I’m gonna rig my rod and have a look at Alexs gear I’m using an electric bike when
fishing here in Malmö canal I have a box with all my stuff in it and my rods here’s 2 of my combo I prefer
to use here in Malmö canal both rods are up to 10 gram I like to fish with some nicer gear one of my combos costs around 10 000:- that makes some difference, his combo is
like 5 times mine not that great at math though
but 3 times more at least Let the best man win I’m gonna start with this prerigged
flatnose mini I caught a lot of fish with them my biggest perch ever at 53cm
and 2,75kg that one was caught on a flatnose mini it both deliver a lot and big fish one disadvantage with this set is that
there are no place to put the hook usually you can put it here I have to do like this instead Don’t put the hook on the loop you can damage it and scratch the line you don’t want your line to break this is not great though otherwise I like the feeling of it I’m gonna start with a spintail a classic lure this time of year let’s see who catch the first fish You can’t fish from the bridges so
the first cast will be here let’s go Alex The rod isn’t that bad not the best and the reel make
a sound when you reel it in but I like the feeling I think I have a shot against Alex If he wins it’s not because of the gear I’m stuck straight away You can play some guitar with the line there we go And now I’m stuck in the bushes just cast again luckily I didn’t loose the lure
that’s good when you’re on a budget this combo is really nice No complaints what so ever for 10 000:- that’s what you expect I had a bite there – already?
– yes Yeah a strong one It was only grass fish there I saw a fish this feels hot now Don’t know if it was a perch though Now we’re heading to the harbour To save some time I’m gonna
take an electric scooter there I have downloaded the Ride app and just scan the QR code “This scooter is unavaliable” “please try another one” that’s just weird, it’s here right No that’s not good at all I’ll have to walk then what do I see? some more scooters come on now yes I’ve never ridden a scooter like this
with my fishing gear before how hard can it be? help No problem at all you bike so slow okey that’s faster bye bye Tobbe! I like to change spot often we’re at another spot now It’s quite early the water temp is still quite high Which probably mean they are
far out and just wait we’ve chosen this spot just outside
a harbour let’s try it and see if we
can catch some perch let’s cast and see
if it will deliver at this spot – You got one?
– yes! big not that big
but not small either It looks better – it’s better
– it’s a big one it’s huge Alex I’ll bring the net It’s stuck You can hold the rod No tension on it damn what a perch Alex what a perch – that’s not a small one
– it’s nice around 42cm – It’s really fat
– yeah really fat they are really strong it came out of nowhere we need to measure it
when it’s a challenge let’s see how long it is it is… 41cm shorter than I at first thought but still a really nice fish I can beat that but Alex put
the bar really high with that one many use a net and put all
the perch in it It’s better to just release them a quick measurment and weigh
and then release it I need to cast and hope I can
catch a bigger one This is a competition for real hello – do you catch anything?

– perch You need to cast like a fan The perch are moving very fast There I have another one one more perch it’s smaller But still really fun let’s release it During night Malmö Canal is full of life and often the fishing here is
better when it gets dark The perch can hunt for shrimps
small fish and bugs To fish in the city centre and feel
the pulse of the city is exciting The best about street fishing
is squares like this one in Malmö You can head in to Etage
if the perch wont bite you can dance and party so let’s see if we can party No it’s closed That’s typical, I wanted to party let’s head back to the fishing instead I had one! that bite was so hard first bite for me
came now during night time To bad I couldn’t set the hooks I can’t really blame the gear It’s not that easy during night sometimes they just miss It’s really dark now And can be really hot especially when it’s as much lights here it’s easier for the perch to hunt compared to a lake in the woods we keep on grinding Stop stop stop The Police is here Alex No it’s just my lamp fun right? – did I scare you?

Not enough feeling in my combo? or is Alex a better fisherman
here in Malmö canal? questions we might never get
an answer to we fished on through the night I felt multiple bites But no one caught around 1:00 I was exhausted and we had to pause when the sun rise the hope was back with some new energy I rigged
a ned that I bought earlier I was determined to lure the fish I got one! Big Alex big I’m coming help me It’s really strong – you got it?
– yeah yes nice Tobbe such nice fish here in the canal it’s August now and have a
look at these fat fish they are all really fat it’s super fun On a tiny tiny ned a good thing I chose that one look at this nice fish let’s measure it quick Alex fish was 41cm this one is not that long
but quite long anyway it’s 37cm not bad at all after this many hours and it finally
bites My confidence is back up now let’s hope there are more perch nearby I felt something is it a roach or what? again I got it what is that? – a small cod
– a cod? a new species it’s a goby I felt something tiny from nowhere to 2 species but still a goby on spin fishing
that aint bad this fish is great food for big perch I started with a dark flatnose mini and now a worm to look like
the same color as these fish this one will swim back Both Tobias and I have caught most
now on mirco jigs when they are really tricky
it’s the most efficent I like to vary some often I do small cranks with some pauses and that’s when they often bite. – fish?
– yes – is it nice?
– yes heavy This one is nice It’s really nice Tobbe go get the net – is it net?

– yeah it’s a really nice perch big! come on now, it’s really big – It’s a toad
– I’m coming I will net it there where multiple big ones it’s really big – nice Alex
– thanks another really nice perch around 40cm it’s really fat they are really beautiful let’s see how long it is no it’s not 40cm it’s 38cm it fought really hard well fed fish, fat all around it has good genes release it now I’ve fished some hours now with this
cheaper combo at 999:- compared to my usual set a Caperlan reel WXM 700 with a BFT 92 series
carolina reaper rod this set is really good for the price I can cast further with my set with better feeling and I set the
hooks better with it But if you only fish a few times a year
this cheaper one is okey I fish a lot so I need a better set It’s almost time Alex and the fish has stopped biting so the challenge is here by over we have a result you got the biggest fish at 41cm And I caught one at 37cm You are the winner this time and is the canal King Johan was wrong nice try Tobbe but it’s not that easy to compete against someone who
has fished a lot here like myself it’s never easy to beat someone at
their own home turf I’m quite happy anyway I might’ve hooked some more
