How good was that? Like seriously you still celebrating now? I would be. I’d be like ripping the ass. It was a good It was a good 5 year hangover, mate. What was it like? Can you give us anything like is there any spe any special What can I say? Any special moments where you go I’ll never forget that? Any shots? Anything you see? What was it like? Like it’s I don’t know shots obviously you remember more of the one down the stretch. Yeah. cuz they were like they were like when you’re in around it but then I remember shots I hit on like Thursday Friday if I had to hit that at that time you’d have still not you know what I mean golf a weird game in it it’s it’s the whole 72 holes that come into it not lose momentum good break here and there um I remember Sunday morning having an all right drive on two but I’ve just towed it a fraction I’ve just clipped the edge of the branches and on some years that might go down into creek and it stayed off where my bank had chipped out med five still at the time you feel like you’re giving something back cuz everyone’s making bird or eel on two but if that goes in ditch then it’s a different story so it’s like just little things that you don’t really think about until afterwards and obviously the back nine I played really well was that like when you turn and it’s like you come into them monster holes and you’re like I’ve got a chance here yeah played two lovely shots into 10 two nice shots into 11 safe on 12 which is kind of all you really ask for and then um five eye middler green on 13 par five two puted it stiff it on the Yeah. Um, didn’t birdie 15 and I were like, when’s your ass going at any point near when No, because I’m because I’m already at the time. I’m still I’m still like three behind. So, me I were playing with Westy and I’ve Westy chipped on off the back edge of 15 for Eagle. Yeah. Um, was that a nice lean on playing with him? Well, and Billy won it. So, me me like we it just it was a nice like four of us on a golf course especially like everyone wanted Spin. He’s American. He was going for back to back. Yeah. Yeah. So for us to have that that that you know a group of friends really. Um and then yeah and then when I tapped in on for par on 15 the board changed and all of a sudden it were like so he went from six or seven to whatever I was at four. Westy chipped in to go to three. So all of a sudden I our leading by one of Lee and it’s like what’s going on here? Like again happened at a good time because I’ve been pressing all day trying to make birdies, trying to catch someone and then obviously to catch them late on you’re still in that mindset. All right. You’re still like right just keep your foot down and keep going. Yeah. Um and then a lovely eight iron into 16 med. Yeah. Just at the time um Westy hit a nice seven iron in just spun up of it in the wind and left it short and then three wax. So all of a sudden in the space of 15 minutes it had literally just it literally it was it was mental. You look back at it now and even when you can watch it and like the timings that everything happened at were mental, you know, and like I said in the space of 15 minutes you’re like two three behind to two in front and you’re like it’s but it’s golf in it. It’s it’s our game and it’s that golf course especially is a bit naughty. Um and just Yeah. And then played 17 nice enough. Uh got a bit of a fly from my left, went just long, chipped it down stiff, and then 18, hit a lovely threewood off 18. When I looked up, it were between trees and I was like, “Right, first job done.” Naughty T-shots long as well. Luckily, it were downwind. Um and then hit a little seven, pushed it a bit, but had a little kiss off a cushion and came in and and then it were 40 minutes. Sat there waiting, thinking, “Right, well, he can eagle that. He can do this. He can hold this. He can do this.” And like I was literally until it was he he had a second shot into 17. If he rolled that, he could have birdied the last to tie. Yeah. And then he’s knocked it in the bunk and knocked and and made bogey. And then that’s when Smarty came running and jumped on us cuz then it’s obviously physically impossible. And then unreal. And then Yeah. The next five years was a What’s it like as well going back cuz you go back and you have that dinner, didn’t you? Yeah. Every Tuesday. Same thing. Was that not daunting? It’s a It’s weird. I speak to a lot of people about this, mate. It’s it and that’s what it it doesn’t feel like that now. I’m like, you know, I’m nearly 10 years on and I know everyone now, okay, you still pinch yourself a bit, but when I when I when I did my speech and and I hosted the dinner, it you have a minute bathroom, you’re like, how the are you here? You know what I mean? Like just and it’s and like like just like a like do I belong here? Do I deserve to be here? Do I this? And like and some of the old boys were brilliant because they’re like they then come up and they’re like great shot that you and you know they know everyone knows how hard it is to win a golf tournament let alone that one. So then it’s like it was actually yeah at the time I’m like I feel like I feel like I’ve like I feel like I’ve robbed some good ladies in that room who come out here. They’re all brilliant. What’s the couples like? Brilliant men never as a man ever worn a green jacket and a pair of trainers better in their life on a Tuesday night casually in a pair of chinos. A mate Freddy no glove. But they’re all and they, you know, they’re all just lovely. I know Trev well. He he lives near me in Orlando. Trev’s always brilliant. Scotty’s amazing. Um, and then I end up, for some weird reason, I ended up sitting next to Bubba and Charl. I’ve known Charl for years through European tour. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um, but everyone when they’re in there, the more you chat to them and the more you see it, but everyone’s the same. They’re all laughing. They’re all They all still can’t believe that they did it. Apart from Tiger and Jack who would load like everyone else in there is still probably like this is amazing. Yeah. You know so get Tiger and Jack in there. Bet you’re like oh man. I’ve known them for years now and they just we just sat there and I’m like I’m just going to stay for a bit longer. You know what I mean? Like they’re like you Yeah, they’re all right. You carry on.
