I didn’t think you would get me comfortable does anyone else have that mental block of trying to swing from the inside well the reason is simple you’ve been using a popular ball position with driver and it’s making it so hard for yourself it’s wrong the middle of your stands we’re going to hit three in the middle of the stands a long way back for some people in this place without any fancy feelings without see this feels insane this is what Everton and Sheffield United Legend bill jagielo was doing and I know he’s not alone with this stop wasting thousands of hours of practice and feeling like you’re going backwards start using this ball position and Club face drill and gets you hitting more from the inside and you’ll finally learn how to square that club face two so yes a right it’s a tweak that I know will save you hours of practice F ja just talk me through your driver game in general so let’s say aing at this tree how would you get it there this is the first hole and you had to hit Drive how you doing it so again if I not really spend much time on the ranging it was couple of swings whatever it’s I wouldn’t say it’s Panic stations but this is this is me not being comfortable yeah so again first T if it’s a good length Par Four I’m thinking right I’ll put it on a lowest T so lsh you mean just like just no just no when I say low instead of going high so probably mid to low yeah so again this is probably not going to be too far off it so if you think about it probably i’ probably go a bit smaller than that okay if I’m being honest yeah yeah and now I am literally going to stand over and I’m probably going to aim realistically 30 40 yards left I’m going to stand over it uh I’m probably going to throw it a bit higher and I’m now going to make sure there’s only one direction this Ball’s going to go it’s going to start left yeah and it’s going to end right again depending on what course we playh if that’s not possible I’m probably putting this back in the bag and I’m probably looking for something else and even you said wood and I just especially first hole you know I’m not I don’t get that have an hour’s practice I’m not that typee of guy anyway so a case of don’t ruin you around on the first one get it off the tea and figure it out from there so if you look at your forearms here what forearm can I see I can see that that left forearm in here right and that’s not something I I want to see right I I want you to sort of be hiding that left forearm I want it to also then have an impact on our shoulders where it addressed now our shoulders are looking like they’re pointing a little bit left so I know I know you’re set up to hit that shot but all that’s doing is is putting a blanket over you going that’s the only show you’re ever going to be able to hit it’s like setting up in a certain formation you’re going to leave yourself suceptible to something and you’re going to never change it yeah yeah I know that so what we want to do is improve this position and then on the way down we want to get out of this look here if I keep my hands are cold there we go if you look at this here this is quite exaggerated yeah the head will come yeah it’s ridicul yeah I mean that’s quite a lot as well and I presume I’m losing lots of power because I’m basically only using my my arms aren’t nice too and that’s why sometimes you hit that spinny driver yeah yeah yeah as into wind it’s like cuz you’re hitting down on it you’re hitting left on it so we’ll explain this now a little further but there’s a real simple routine we’re going to use now so let’s jump straight into this because it is insanely cold and it’s getting colder so if you think about this right now right if I aim left and we’ll use this as a little setup right now I aim left and my Ball’s forward where am I going to swing all the time okay and to be fair that’s probably one of the reasons why your forearms are sell this one way cuz that’s how we’re set up so if we flip that on its head and I’ll just grab an alignment stick here to represent my shoulders and said if I hit some of my back foot now where would my forearms be they’d sort of be in a slightly different position massively different yeah yeah so now I’ve got a chance of swinging more through here so this is going to look really bizarre cuz you’re thinking Alex why in Earth would I want to hit some drivers off the middle of my stance well that’s that that’s the first thing even if I’m teaching trying to teach my son who starting I’m saying off your front yeah get it off do whatever now in the end we might work back to having it on this inside but actually if I’m honest with you if I’m looking to hit straighter drive not a big fade I have my ball position with driver a clubbed inside okay which is a long way back for some people but we want to do a bit of a drill here where we’re going to really start to understand that the more I move my ball back in my stance the more I’m going to help me get a bit more of an into out path now we don’t want it to be into out for you want it just to be less left yeah which will feel into out to me massively at the moment compared to it’s going to feel how far left I’ve been yeah well I’ve told you I’ve got I know I’ve gone super super safe super silly left yeah just to shut down losing and what i’ say to you if you’ve got crap down the right still potentially play that that’s cost management I also know as well if I’m inting a driver I’m losing 50 60 yards so I might as well hit a three-wood straight yeah a fivewood straight would probably go nearly the same distance yeah know like you know like by the time I’ve done it but comparatively to how far you hit your 79 180 yards that only went 245 so it it’s still a long way for a lot of people but in the grand scheme of things it’s not a big gap between your eight hand and your driver it’s quite small so I want to take this first ball right I want to put the ball in the middle of your stance we’re going to hit three in the middle of the stance this is really important there’s two stages to this drill please make sure you follow it and understand that the further I go forward the more I aim left yes it’s a way of getting it round but you’re always going to have this so by moving this ball back and following this drill we’re going to start to see the club work more in this place without any fancy feelings without any fanciness we don’t need those cuz you’re playing in a week and a half time and I watch you on the golf course thinking ball position and that does my job for me so Jags B Middle East STS now am I am I now aiming to roughly finish like straight because obviously previously so want me straighter with the aim straight with the a TR that this is maybe something four arms we’re going to do that now as well okay but think about this you put hands on the club me that’s weird already sorry I think you can even see do you think that’s middle of East dance no no no no no no no I’ll listen to your I listen I’ll listen to your club inside so for me now that would be fiveon 4on sort of where i’ normally have it 10 so I’m saying that’s middle of my no no that’s just that’s just go even more middle go to fur to your left fur to your left fur to your left that’s it right so think about put your hands on there right so when your ball’s forward it’s it’s easy to get the forearms in this position so with the ball B back we’ve actually got the forearms sorted well I can’t I can’t exactly right so this is this feels insane right I want you just to hit so exaggerate the forearms a little more for me and you’re actually aiming a bit right there so square up a little bit perfect yeah I didn’t even look to be honest I was too busy with that stupid crazy the get let me try let me try a little bit cuz I okay right yeah I want you to hit three in this position right now three balls in this position okay perfect so that that’s me knowing that something’s different but why did it go low think about cuz you move like this you move steep on it yeah so the ball back in your stance you the club’s coming like like this isn’t it right okay go again for me I think I’ve crep forward again I can’t get back it’s so weird right I’m going to hit out to the right come on trust it beautiful shot by the way so that’s the difference between me trusting trusting what you said and not trusting what you said basically okay that’s fair enough because it’s it’s all new isn’t it now I’ve Got to Now swing because of where you’ve put me and it’s proving the two shots I can’t swing where I wanted to swing last yeah yes so the second one’s not perfect but the second one swinging where now you’re making me swing and I’m having to go with it 100% And it does take a few shots to get it that’s why we hit a few just look at these numbers here by the way yeah look at that top number there 04 to the right is your club path where was it before nine okay so yeah and you only hit down at4 but the distance not much difference the distance distance is 244 but we’re just the I’m just throwing the gauntlet down to you here that’s all I want more distance Al more than 245 if you’re going to fix me hey what about not ever hitting that big fine yeah but I can do that with a fivewood so it’s fine so fair so yeah that’s the numbers are numbers are so much more what I would say is neutral and that that’s gives me some excitement on what we’re looking to improve here okay so hit one more with it on the back of your stance sorry the middle of your stance yeah back of my stance in my head yeah it feels really far back back for you no that’s that I know what I’ve done there what have you done I’ve done that and I’ve literally I’ve cast it I’ve done it feels weird right that’s just an awful swing okay look at your numbers there this excites me where’s your club path now top right 1.6 to the right but you left your face open yeah yeah yeah literally so off it before we even hit another one we’re now going to do the next phase of this so this is where going to feel now we’re actually going to have to release this club a little bit so the next phase we now this is going to feel really bizarre we’re going to hit some shots where our balls just a little further back not off the back foot but a little further back and our shoulders are really like this for two okay but what you’ve got to understand now is we’ve got to feel that we actually release these wrists a little bit with this now the reason I want you to do this is because I still see a little bit of you going oh my god it feels we lean on it go this way so there’s a shift still okay yeah and we driver we we want to have a little bit of this look of yeah yeah this action so jump in there for me and so so my question is so obviously the Kane’s not a bad guideline for me as well yeah for sure so am I looking to hit the ball the exit of the ball is looking to be to still you know that’s what I’ve got to commit to does that make sense so on this drill for Two Shots we’re looking for the ball to exit slightly right at that alignment okay that’s fine okay that that helps me because if I’m like this yeah and I’m telling myself the ball’s exiting left of it which is me normal then that’s why I’m it can’t physically happen can it as long as it’s allowed to be so are you saying that’s far enough back in your stand bit too far back too Fair that’s it and yeah then you get the forearm set now you’re really going to have to trust that you’re going to have to let the club drop and you have to let it release you got to educate him more here whereas in the past you were always educated this way right wait there this right just just do that again for me one second there what you just did really excites me cuz that looks great do that again for me that feel doesn’t excite me it doesn’t excit me he go on give it a hit let it release what a shot mate yeah our face is still open because I I’m still I’m still not confident with it still not confident look look at where you move this club watch this where do this club start to work now yeah yeah I’ve never that’s never been anywhere near my body it’s always been but that still feel this is the most alien of everything we’ve done so far 100% you know like look at those numbers though you just swung 5.4 to the right and your faces three left just not enough left right and and again I’m not saying you have it this far back this is just correcting mental exactly this is a way you warm up so just really trust that you can actually let this release in the past you were so scared of this cuz you’re aiming so F left and that that’s a big thing okay square that face a bit more for it dress is that square now bit more towards that the black line that’s it so that okay okay okay got very nearly go on I need that face to release I I know I know is the path is brilliant to the right again we’re in the slot like this is what we want this is great but I just think might even be the hands should for sure so hold that club up to me here this is a great one I always do swing it around the corner so go back for us now come back at the face to hit square with me right you had to do something with the wrist to do that what did you do you move them a little bit like this you had to if you didn’t you didn’t even feel it you’d have brought it in like this do it one more time just get a little bit more consciously aware of that okay yeah God went a bit quick there didn’t we sorry sorry sorry I was trying to take his hand off so it’s cold so yes there’s a roll okay right okay for this drill you got to feel this if you’ve always swung left you’re so scared of clothes in the face go on right come on go to town on it one more for me like this then we hit a normal one what a gol shot oh my God you know I actually feel I feel like I’m loopier and slower does that make sense well probably I’m probably not speed wise I don’t know what the speed was talk to me about the distance yeah so what was my is that 92 is that no what was my swing speed 283 no no that was how high it went I’m saying how how quick I swung I swung how quit you swung you swung it 110 yeah that’s about if I’m yeah that’s fine that’s not me going at it that’s comfortable look how efficient that is though 110 10 19.9 yeah 156 157 ball speed a 1.43 smash and you launched it at 11 and a half before like this is what I’ve seen before I’ve seen the ball start low and work like this whereas that it launched poof that was awesome right I think I feel like I’m going to do another one because talk before you that for everybody watching this right now what are what did you feel differently with the wrist there so yeah I felt with when I got to the wrist here I when I when I turned them yeah it kept my it also kept my body yeah from so if you told me go and play a draw with a driver yeah before I’d have done that and I’d have basically probably done something of similar with my crazy swing but the the the flicker the wrist you I mean so now I want to try another one because I felt like I’m not saying I’ve definitely understood what you said but you making me do the Top Spin yeah means I can’t I can’t physically do those two things at once yeah it’s like rubbing your ability can’t you can’t you can’t you can’t do that so you’re saying you feel like you can’t do this if you’re doing if you’re doing this exactly 100% so one more with this extreme back in the stance and we go back to that normal position so if I concentrate on the top spin it should work oh what a go shot that’s stupid yeah but again that’s that’s me feeling so extreme to well isn’t it it’s ridiculous compared now that is a ridiculous version but that’s how you get yourself back to neutral that’s how you get yourself back to not going into this in almost like insul bit of going oh I just I know what this does I’m going to go in this Direction that’s your drill so you start by hitting a few in the middle you move it slightly back in middle and for reference point for everybody watching middle was our first we hit two to three there then you going and hit between two to five with it half a ball to a ball back of middle right now we’re going to go to that normal position but your normal now is going to be a club head inside your what you said initially so it’s not in the middle okay right what we saying somewhere like there exactly that mate so I’m thinking three-wood or fivewood yeah yeah yeah yeah okay that’s it just three-wood or five ball position is a great reference point for this and the same feeling just just just trust the ball position watch the forearms though you might have to be address a little more conscious of getting that relationship cuz the ball’s a little further forward than it was okay I’m still trying to play the Top Spin yeah still trying to play the Top Spin what a c shot I felt I could go after that that that was that was me my swing speed look 11.8 that’s cuz I felt comfortable mate that is awesome so and and the flight wasn’t too I don’t know if it was a draw or fade it pretty neutral launch Beau what did we get out of that distance WI a tiny bit high in the face but I felt like I could go after that because the setup felt nice 276 again which we’ll be more than happy with won’t we 100% so your routine there is you go middle of the stance ball back and you learn to educate those hands there such a miss everyone says right now the modern golf swing is like strong face turn left on it and yeah for someone like DJ someone like Brook K that is the way they swing but for us Motors like we’ve got to understand that we need to get this face releasing right go one more to finish is off here this is so good and makes you follow the routine forearms good come on launch one like that go after this one hard as you can what a golf shot what a golf shot how good is that 284 yeah but well it’s in the middle but I feels I didn’t think you would get me comfortable good I know we’ve only done two and whatever but to the extent of I know this was the most drastic and and I knew that myself because it was just a way of getting it in play I’m I’m so happy I’ve got that to work with that’s I’ll excited to even get to to talent and work on the Range and hit some awesome M hey mate really good you might get me the Bandit shout I hope over there I hope so I want to see that trophy back here yeah be lovely but honestly I’m I’m buzzing I get me the the few notes and stuff as we’ve said the way I my sort of brain golf brain works I just need a couple of different things a lot it I think is ball position

  1. A super quick check of ball position can make all the difference to your strike & the direction your club attacks the golf ball!

  2. Finally, someone provides driver instruction that doesn't involve having the ball outside of the front foot. I've set the ball inside my front foot forever, and while I tend to hit the ball lower than most, I generally hit the ball relatively straight. Putting the ball out front creates a swing path that requires me to be far more "on time" with the face in that if I'm early, I hit a big looping draw and if late a big flippy fade. I can get away from that by bringing my right shoulder (I'm a lefty) forward and up, and having the ball a bit back in my stance. When I miss, it is the same as the student in your tutorial in that I tend to slide my upper body forward and then get too steep, resulting in a push but not a slice. Kudos to you for making driver a far less stressful club for this fella to hit. We all need such things in our game. Subbed!

  3. Used to be a great driver of the ball until about 2 years ago when i was told to put it to the front of my stance. Been a disaster ever since. Great video. Ill revert!

  4. Struggled with this one Alex. It wasn’t a good lesson. You cut the video to the best results twice as he obviously hit a bad miss after your advice, and he’s not a great student. Even when he smokes it he’s being too objective seeking perfection and instead of being happy, he’s still finding faults. His mental game is off… get him to read ‘golf isn’t a game of perfect’

  6. Man he’s annoying this guy wow. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about half the time. You should never change your swing to fit a driver or get more distance. Get the right driver for you. These YouTubers destroy players trying to get better. It’s about spin and how you feel about your driver, especially drivers. See how he doesn’t show you his ball spin rate, that’s the most important for accuracy and control.

  11. Students like this guy absolutely drive me insane. I know it takes patience to instruct, But at some point you have to tell them to PLZ, STFU and swing!
    He wanted instant perfection and literally only hit 6 balls in 20 minutes. You need to ingrain that shit!! Takes buckets and patience. I almost off’d myself watching this guy question every fuqn thing he was being taught!!!
