BUIES CREEK, N.C. –Campbell continues its men’s golf fall schedule next week at the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational, hosted by West Virginia University at Mystic Rock Golf Club in Farmington, Pa.
The 19-team field includes power conference members Penn State and West Virginia as well as Campbell’s CAA rivals Towson and William & Mary. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday at the Pete Dye designed Mystic Rock layout followed by the final round Tuesday. Live scoring will be available at Scoreboard.clippd.com.
Three Camels who competed in last year’s Nemacolin event – Joachim Larsen Tegner, Erik Johansson and Benjamin Killingstad – will tee off in next week’s tourney. Freshmen William Sundborn and Adrian Bergqvist will join the returning players in head coach Matt Moot’s lineup, while red-shirt junior Logan Graf will play as an individual.
Campbell opened the season with an eighth-place finish at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate at Grande Dunes. With two freshmen in the lineup, Campbell (297-285-288—870) played the final 36 holes 3-under par in its first tournament of the season. Sundborn (71-74-72—217) was Campbell’s low individual and finished in a tie for 33rd place in the 90-golfer field in his collegiate debut. Johansson (74-71-73—218) tied for 38th place, while Larsen Tegner finished T45 (73-75-71—219). Bergqvist was T62 (79-68-77—224) and Killingstad tied for 73rd (83-72-72—227) after playing his final 36 holes even par.
In last year’s Nemacolin Collegiate, Henric Bjelke tied for sixth at 1-over and Campbell finished sixth (300-296-291—887) on the team leaderboard in an event where the final 36 holes were played in rainy conditions. Larsen Tegner was 12th (73-74-73—220) individually and Johansson (76-76-72—224) tied for 20th. Killingstad finished T54 (76-80-77—233) in his second collegiate event. With four golfers among the top five, host West Virginia won team honors at 2-over par (866), 12 shots better than runner up George Mason (878).

The Course: Mystic Rock at Nemacolin (Par 72, 7526 Yards)
Mystic Rock, the dream of Nemacolin’s founder, Joseph A. Hardy III, brought to life by prominent designer Pete Dye, is one of the country’s finest golf courses. Perched atop the Pennsylvania Allegheny Mountains, the 7,526-yard Mystic Rock spans acres of the scenic Laurel Highlands, offering players championship-level golf in a spectacular setting. Nemacolin and Golf Architect Tim Liddy partnered with Pete Dye — before Dye’s passing — with designs for an impressive and extensive bunker renovation to Mystic Rock, which was completed in 2021.A par-72 course layout with a rating of 77 and slope of 149 from the tees, Mystic Rock owns one of the highest ratings in the country. Host of the PGA Tour 84 Lumber Classic, Mystic Rock has been ranked as the top course you can play in Pennsylvania by Golfweek and among the best courses in the state by Golf Digest.
The Coach: After spending seven seasons as assistant and associate head coach, Matt Moot is in his first year as head coach at his alma mater. During his time on the Camel staff, Moot has helped lead Campbell to five NCAA post-season trips, 12 tournament titles and three conference crowns. Moot helped develop the 2017, 2019 (Jesper Svensson), 2018 (Ray Kraivixien) and 2021 (Pontus Nyholm) Big South Conference golfers of the year as well as four-straight league rookies of the year in Henric Bjelke (2022), Tim Holmberg (2023), Erik Johansson (CAA 2024) and Benjamin Killingstad (CAA 2025). During his playing career (2007-11) at Campbell, Moot compiled 11 top-10 individual finishes and was a two-time Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar. He competed in the 2009 and 2011 NCAA regionals.
The Lineup:
Junior Joachim Larsen Tegner (Lier, Norway) enters next week’s event with a 73.0 stroke average after finishing T45 at Myrtle Beach (73-75-71—219). He has nine career top 10 finishes in 23 starts and has played par, or better, golf 31 times in 67 rounds, and scored in the 60s on 10 occasions. Last season, Larsen Tegner was a second-team All-CAA performer and ranked No. 316 nationally, 8th-best among CAA golfers. He led the team with a 72.2 stroke average and recorded six top-10s, including a season-best 6th-place finish at Cutter Creek, where he helped CU win the team title.
Junior Erik Johansson (Hollviken, Sweden) carries a 72.7 scoring average into the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational after a T38 finish at Myrtle Beach (74-71-73—218). He has posted four top-10 finishes in 24 tournaments and played par, or better, golf in 28 of 70 career rounds with 10 rounds in the 60s. Last season, Johansson compiled six top 20 showings in 11 tournaments and compiled a 73.3 scoring average. During his freshman campaign, he was named CAA rookie of the year, first-team All-CAA, won the 2024 Seahawk Intercollegiate and earned an individual berth in the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional.
Sophomore Benjamin Killingstad (Blommenholm, Norway) takes a 75.7 scoring average in the event at Mystic Rock after playing his final two rounds even par in the season opening Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Invitational (83-72-72—227). Killingstad was named the 2025 CAA Rookie of the Year. He amassed the 8th-lowest stroke average ever by a CU freshman (73.403) and earned three top five finishes in his first collegiate season, including a T4 (72-74-72—218) at the CAA Championship.
Freshman William Sundborn (Oslo, Norway) was Campbell’s low individual in its season-opening tournament at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was 1-over-par (71-74-72—217) and tied for 33rd place and carries a 72.3 stroke average into the Nemacolin event. Sundborn posted one victory and 17 top 10s in 33 WAGR tournaments. Sundborn won the 2024 Oslandstour International Trophy and Nextup Junior Invitational and finished 11th at the 2024 Norwegian Men’s National Championship.
Freshman Adrian Bergqvist (Stockholm, Sweden) carries a 74.7 stroke average into the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational. He shot 79-68-77—224 to tie for 62nd in his collegiate debut at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate. He joined the Camel program this season after earning one victory and six top-10 finishes in 15 World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) events. He won the 2024 Balearic Spain Professional Championship and the 2024 Battle of Stockholm and reached the round of 16 at the Swedish U21 National Match Play Championship.
Red-shirt junior Logan Graf (Sylvan Lake, Alberta) played in five events during the 2024-25 season and posted a 76.1 stroke average for the Camels. He finished T18 (71-72-71—214) in his Campbell debut at the Battle at Briar’s Creek. Graf fired a season-low 69 in Cutter Creek Invitational (69-78-73—220, T27), where he helped CU win team title.
Next: Following the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational, the Camels will head to the Bash in the Boro, hosted by Georgia Southern, Oct. 13-14 at the GSU Golf Course in Statesboro, Ga.
