MARSHALL, Mich. — The Britons had themselves a day on the links at the Medalist Golf Club, as first-year talent Charlie Dierkes finished tied atop the leaderboard to lead Albion to a fourth-place finish at the second MIAA Jamboree of the season on Thursday afternoon,. 

Dierkes fired a 71 (-1) to become the first Albion golfer to medal at an MIAA Jamboree since Zach Benedict and Mark McLaughlin finished tied at the MIAA Jamboreee No. 7 during the 2009 campaign. With Dierkes leading the way, the Britons shot 308 as a team to finish just seven strokes from third-place Trine University. Dierkes was joined by Calvin’s Ford Erickson as the day’s medalists. 

The par-72 course at the Medalist Golf Club played at 6,973 yards on a beautiful early fall day. Dierkes registered four-birdies en route to his Jamboree-leading score. Blake Wagner finished tied for 11th with a score of 75 (+3).

Camden Paul finished four strokes off of Wagner’s pace with a 79 (+7) to finish tied for 25th. Bradley Davis and Nicholas Giannone rounded out Albion’s scorers with cards of 83 (+11) and 84 (+12). 

Matt Sypniewski played as an individual and turned in a score of 84 (+12) to round out the Britons’ performance. 

Up Next

Albion continues MIAA action at Jamboree No. 3 on Saturday, October 4. The round will take place at the 6,627-yard Pine River Country Club.
