This is uh I’m actually almost getting choked up talking about the fact that we’re out here. Um this means the world to you. It means the world to me. I learned how to play golf here at Beth Page. I got married right behind us, 100 yards behind us here at the Heritage Club at Beth Page. Uh yeah, like I said, learned how to fall in love with the game here and actually learn to play it. Came out here with my dad. You have five golf courses here. The black was always such a unbelievable treat and just experience and it’s just for me it’s golf holy land. So the fact that we’re out here rider cup maybe the biggest golf event in the history of the world. I think it’s going to be the biggest spectacle golf’s ever seen. And for me I mean being from Missouri I just remember kind of seeing Beth Paige it was like this unobtainable beast 02 09 with the US Opens. And so for us to be here Ryder Cup is as set up as it could possibly be and it’s just go time right now. Go time. We’re doing Sunday singles, Rigs verse myself. I don’t think we’ve ever played a true one-on-one match on the either. Always just doing two man teams or whatever it might be. So, this is a big one. No, that was, you know, we can work with that today. My legs are shaking. Yeah. Come on, man. Is there anything better than this place? God, that’s so much fun. Great ball. I love this place, man. You go out here and I don’t even know what it is this year. I know they raised it just like a couple dollars each year, but you like 70 bucks just to go out and play a Ryder Cup golf course as a New York State resident, dude. So, I remember like when I when I moved here, we came out here for the first time to play. And I remember hearing that, but thinking that was like always this watered down truth and that okay. Yeah. Yeah. Like if you play in January on Monday at after the sun goes down, it’s like 70 bucks. But really, it’s like 250. It was legit $70. I know to come out here and play cuz I had a New York ID. It was unbelievable. You come out here and you’ll legit see it’ll take you six hours to play the round sometimes during the summer and you’ll see guys in jeans and like t-shirts. They’ll have like a motorized little like push cart and they’ll be in legitimate jeans, golf shorts, and like an old school polo or even like a legit work t-shirt playing a US Open PGA Championship and Ryder Cup venue. It’s incred It’s incredible. It’s also like they’re not it’s not like this is some old old like outdated sort of venue that had some championships. It’s hosting the biggest tournament that golf’s ever seen. No, it’s nuts. And just had a PGA here. Five years ago. Six years ago. Dude, I don’t have a rangefinder. I get relief from the stand. You get a relief. Okay, I got to think. Nearest point of visual relief. I don’t really know exactly how this works, but God, I can’t believe I didn’t put it on my bag. That’s got to be the dumbest thing I’ve ever done. Be like here. Okay, first iron shot. I’m going to have six iron. Just a solid 217 yards out here in the first hole. Sevenwood from the fescue. You like that play early? Wow. Seems a little bold. I cannot believe we’re playing this place. I think we have to. Very nervous. It is so set up for a Ryder Cup right now. I don’t love it. Dude, depending on the wind, I think those guys might try to like drive it up here. Yeah, we were playing that into it. Yeah, very into. All right, a couple par putts on the first hole at B Page. I’ll take that. That was an incredible shot. That’s second one. Yeah, that was as good as I could hit one. I was pretty nervous over it. Good try. It’s good. Nice. Oh boy. Really? Yeah. It’s just what it takes, you know. You got to make these if you want to be in a golf match. Great putt. Really good half, dude. A couple bogeies at the at the black. That’s not the worst. That’s not the worst. No. All the nerves, too. I mean, people have no idea how hard my heart is pounding right now. I get nervous when I’m just playing by myself and you’re just playing with Jimmy and Rob from Beth Page. You know what I mean? Something about the black just gets you going, man. [Music] This is like I used to write my name on these walls and then they paint over it every year. See how people write their their names on stuff? This is whatever. But yeah, I always think it was the coolest thing ever. That’s awesome. God, we should have we should have written our name on it now. I got a Sharpie. Yeah. and all. Then it’s like Frankie Belli in we could ride Sam and like the Rder Cup players will be walking through that right there. I know underneath and that road is open to the public. We drive through there like twice a week. So I’ve been seeing just this setup of 17 and 15 for months. Oh [ __ ] We’re all I mean this is going to be a hard round of golf, dude. Damn it. Hooking the ball. [ __ ] That don’t look good. No. Oh, left and right. Not Carter’s there. Oh, sat soft. Okay, I see it still. The RDER Cup is going to be playing from 7,500 yards. We obviously did on the first TE, but they asked us to move one up. Okay, not great, you know, but kind of what we deserve. We got a uh we got a chip out. I think is like the one shot that we have. Where’d it go? What an out. They liked it. It sounded excited. I just can’t get this up. So, I’m going to go under right there. Get out. Yeah. That’s all I needed. Yeah. Fine. All right. 160 uphill into the wind. 175 maybe 180 shot. This looks really good. Right number. I don’t know. It might be the right number. It looked okay. 119. Playing 130. Then with the wind playing 135, 140. It’s a late nine iron. Hold on. Cuted it too much. Cut it too much, you idiot. Yeah. What a battle in the black early. Yeah. No, this is a battle. Oh man. The one thing about these first two holes is you obviously have to hit per the whole golf course. You have to take great drives. Yeah. And I don’t think I’ve been that’s probably been my weakest club, which has been insane recently. And then you’ve had your history with the the flat the big stick. Probably not what I’m known for. Well, actually might be known for driving. Just like the wrong wrong way. Also, it’s just one of those things where the wind is up. It’s playing really long and like you like this hole doesn’t even call for a driver. You should just hit like 3wood, fivewood, and you still have 140 up the hill into the wind even if you pierce a perfect one. So then you’re like, I’m going to take driver. Yeah. Perfect drive. Like, okay. And you don’t even come close. We’re just up against it early. Not an easy walk either. Already gassed. It is a privilege. Great shot. Come on. Stay alive here. You know, stay alive. Wow. God, these greens are so pure right now. Yeah, they’re unbelievably perfect. Feel horrible even walking on them. Great putt. What an up and down. Thank you. Five are scrappy. Really scrappy. God, that there’s no way I killed that. Wow. Wow. That’s good. What a freaking five out of the [ __ ] This is a scrappy one, man. I’ve been doing this scrappy match play thing a lot this year. Yeah, it is like a perfect look that we get at how they’re going to set it up for the RDER Cup because they’ve literally put the TE’s out for the European team. Exactly. Stayed right there, I think. Yeah. chunked it be right with you literally. So far we are just chasing each other. More nerve-wracking than I thought playing right before the Rder Cup. You just don’t want to mess it up. No. This is a disaster of a mud ball. Dude, you’ve got so much on there. Oh my god. Idiot. He’s so much higher and harder off impact. I said idiot. Slow down. Get down. Wow. Frank. Oh boy. No. Like I’ve never seen a hole that looks like this. Perfectly built like into the terrain that they had. Yep. Instead of just building like a stupid sloped fairway, they went two-tiered. Yeah. Insane bunkers in the middle. Like it was like legitimately like this is how nature wanted it. Yep. It does look like they just turned that corner, saw this hole, and were like, “Yep, that’s it.” Awesome. So funny, too. I mean, these holes, not so much cuz they’re back here, but a lot of local people like my cousins that live in Farmingdale, which is where this course is, they like know Beth Page as like the place they go like sledding down and like tubing. Like they would use the first tea as like their sledding hill. Yeah. So, now there’s going to be a rider cup there. Just 10,000 people on that tea screaming. You know, millions of people have probably started their rounds just like we just started our round. Oh, just Yeah. scrapping it around. Just kick kick kick. Sucks because like you you want to start off with like real good tempo and good swings and then like you hit one errant shot and then it’s like it just starts to go. Yeah. You start to spiral and run out, run down the hill. But you got to be able to reset. A lot of golf. Especially here. Ton of golf left. So much golf hole left. Every single hole. Too much. Like if we’re in bad shape going into the 15th hole, that’s not good. No. Oh, this could be a Tre Ryan situation where I like shoot 144 a day. Man, how am I not up to? Like he’s like kicking the He’s like I’m just not hitting it great. My putting is atrocious. Nice and smooth. It’ll knock out of here. Come on. Get up. Get up. Get up. Come on. And that’s just like very uncomfortable when you’re nervous. And then I think we’re going to get a little reprieve for a while going downwind at some point. So, got to kind of grind through these. Rick, do you mind giving me a yardage here? I got to download this app. I don’t have my [ __ ] yardages. I could just [ __ ] with them all day and give them a ride. Yeah. 210 98. Yeah. Thank you. Super demoralizing to play against when you’re making up and downs like that. It’s like the person you’re playing against like gets so down on themselves with all the opportunity they had to win and you’re just like shutting the door before I even putt. So, it’s like now like doubt creep. It’s like Yeah. I could have just two putt it or like I could have, you know what I mean? Yeah. No, I do. I I want people to know that I don’t try to play that way. It’s crazy. Like that up and down on twos. nuts. Yeah, making a five from there is very like pretty much out of the hole it feels like off the tea and then make a five. But again, I want people to know that I would rather do it the other way where you hit it onto fairway and then onto the green. It’s really good, man. Thanks, So like are you allowed to like like what do you you can’t like if I want to approach this putt I can’t put my club behind it right cuz that would be that would be improved you can you can dude cuz I see those guys like whenever they chip out of the rough they like get real nestled down there you know what I’m saying well I don’t think you can like that’s a good point I you can’t like matt it down so you have a clear lane but if you were like settling like I can’t do this though no I don’t I think so. I think you’re right. Okay. So, I got to come down on it. I think that’s right. Psychotic. Wow. Pretty good from that. Go rolling out. It’s just impossible to tell like how that’s going to come out. Possible. Those guys on tour mess that up all the time. They just don’t Well, I could have easily just crushed it over the green, which I’m stunned I didn’t do. That’s good. Look at this [ __ ] thing. Wow. This is huge. This for our first par. Last two holes. Last time I had a huge mud thing and now I got just grass growing out of my That’s how my day has been going. I got grass growing out of my freaking putter now. Like New York City and I am legend. Yeah. Just Damn it. It’s good. I keep thinking that because these are so slick, they’re going to move more, but they just don’t. I just had that talk with myself. These greens just don’t have a ton of break in them. They don’t. But they’re faster than I’ve ever seen them. So, they are slick. This hole is phenomenal. Really good. Okay, I got away with one there. Damn par out here. This probably ain’t going to be our hole to do it. No. Nice strike. Taking that all day long. Perfect. Take that one. Yeah. Okay. It’s going to be same club in over the tree, but we’re in play. Yeah. You could end the cut the statement there, but really hard course to make up and downs on and like miss the fairway and [ __ ] So, we got to start giving ourselves better second shots cuz like I can’t play this whole entire day punching out. 193 into the breeze uphill. It’s got to be playing at least 205. Might be that seven. What it get? Quit on it, boys. Quit on it. needs to get down. Yikes. Ew. I don’t really know how to hit that shot. Got no like base with it. Rough is thick. Amazing. Thank you. You got to swing way harder than you think you have to swing. It’s really what it comes down to. Very like just totally It’s unbelievable. Thank you. Great putt. They have the really high mounds on top of the green, so it makes you think like it’s coming off, but if you really look at it from up here, I guess the whole green goes that way. I’ve always found really hard to read the greens here because there’s not a ton of obvious break. I know. It’s really really hard. It’s like impossible. Then you go right at the hole, which is like fine. You’ll end up two putting if you have the speed down. But yeah, like you want to make some putts, but you don’t make them. Yeah. They just dribble off one way or the other. Yep. Every time This is a great hole and you really want a good drive here. No better feeling. This is a fun one to tee off on. Not going to kill it. No. A It’s going right in that bunker. Sit. Sit. Oh, it’s going to be on the edge. On the edge. Got to get back to my confident self. Like I would want to just rip a draw over that tree just with [ __ ] crazy club head speed. It’s like so inviting. Just like not going for it. I’m like [ __ ] babying it. Can’t baby Beth Black, man. With the shots. It’s like you get to that point mentally 90% of the way and then right when it’s trigger time, impossible. Get a little tentative. Y and then when you’re sitting there, you know, the next day and you’re thinking about when that video’s coming out, you’re like, why didn’t I just swing as hard as I could? Like it already was horrible. Exactly. So, who cares? I guess cuz like hindsight’s obviously 2020 and like when you’re standing on this tea, it’s like, you know, the damage would be way worse if you swung as hard as you could. Yeah. Right. At least we’re like playing the hole now. Yeah. Even though it wasn’t pretty. Yeah. And you have to just [ __ ] [ __ ] up here. As much as I don’t want to root against him, I lost it. Good. Yeah, dude. When you drive one down this hill and you got like a 100 yards in, it’s or even just hitting one right here with this nice little T- box feeling. Yeah. This place is so pure right now. I know that’s obvious. They’ve got it set up. They can make a lot of birdies. Yeah. You know, the greens are so good. I was saying like in theory I don’t know that you can have a more pure golf course. Like all the money, all the resources completely closed down. Nobody’s played on it. The weather’s been great. I know. It’s like literally it’s perfect. Technically like we’re making it less perfect than we have. It’s good. Thanks. I want to announce I am not playing any break. Okay. I finally made the score on a hole you’re supposed to. It’s what when they made this golf course, they’re like, “Yeah, it’ll take four to for on this hole.” That would be a good score. They’re cut. The edges are cut amazing. The bottom of them are pure gray. These are those ones that rigs just makes. And the internet doesn’t give him the respect on these. I know this is going in. That hole is [ __ ] This is where I found out that Derek Jeter hit his 30,000th hit and I lied about it for like 12 years. I had been tracking Jeter hitting like DJ 3K was the biggest thing in my life and he was playing the Tampa Bay Rays. I’m like he’s not going to get it today. David Price, I’m going to go play the black. So I came out as a so as a single and at that time we were getting like ESPN notifications even early then I feel like so or someone texted me and my dad he’s like you watching this and all my buddies like DJ and I just I just wrote I can’t believe this. This is amazing. I didn’t say I was golfing and I acted like I watched it. The only time I admitted that I never saw live was on the podcast like 10 years later just Yeah, it was this hole. I was right here. I can remember it and I got real hot. I’m like I just missed it and they’re saying it was a home run and I wrote like, “Can you believe what you just saw to people?” Wow, that was amazing. I think at one point I wrote like, “That’s the greatest thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life.” I may have even like put it out on Facebook or something. I was ripped like it’s bunkers there. This is insane, man. Telling you, dude. I think this is like as good of a landlocked golf course as there’s ever been. I I mean I say it all the time and I I think it’s not just because I live here and have played it a hundred times, but like you remember every single shot because every hole is perfect and it’s its own little story. Every single hole is memorable. I’m blown away by this golf course and like we do a lot of uh recency bias in our like little like rankings in your head. And so I haven’t been here in like five years, but I had always held in the back of my head that like I remember every time I ever played there, I would think that’s like a top 10 course I’ll ever play. And now being back here, I’m like, this is just the thing about the other courses is and Shinik is similar to this where like when you have water, you just remember those like iconic water holes. Yeah. So like Cyprus was unbelievable, but it’s like 14, 15, 16, 17. You’ll remember those shots for the rest of your life. But for me, it’s like the because like you said, it’s a landlocked course, so they have to make each individual hole so memorable. And they did. Yes. Like these two holes are incredible. I thought all 14 holes leading up to this are really incredible and then you stand on 15 and we were blown away. Everybody pulls out their phone. This hole is even better. Like this hole is insane. Yeah. Well, I will say I mean it’s thick but it’s not like US Open. No. The lie I had on the last on 15 was actually pretty solid. They’ll probably raise it a little bit. I don’t necessarily know that the US guys want the rough. Oh, I think it tells you a little bit about the setup that they kind of are thinking, you know, we can we’re the bombers more.
