Are you a spinner or a shifter in your golf swing? Spinners rotate too much, while shifters slide too much and both can cause problems with consistency and ball striking. In this video, we show you the difference between the two, how to identify which one you are, and why the best swings combine both moves in balance. Learn how to sync your body for better strikes and a more powerful swing.
So, a spinner is someone who rotates aggressively but doesn’t make it to the impact line, making it very difficult to get pure strikes and probably getting the club path going a bit too much to the left. A shifter is someone who moves aggressively through that impact line. Again, having a problem with strike, but we could get a path which is a little bit too much rightward. Now, here’s the thing. Spinning, shifting, which one should we have? Well, you need both, but you need both in the right sequence. So ideally what we want is we want an element of shifting first then followed by the spin. So it’s a shift followed by rotation. But if you’re someone who’s just really good at spinning, we don’t want you thinking about that. We just need to get you to think about shifting. So if you’re a spinner, all I want you to do is to feel and think about rolling your ankles towards the target. So everything is moving in a lateral manner towards the target. Trust me, you you will naturally rotate. You’ll put that in without having to think about it. Now, if you’re someone who is a very too much lateral and not enough rotation, club across the shoulders. Again, you won’t need to worry about the lateral. That will happen naturally. Club across the shoulders, do a back swing, and then from there, get the club face to hit the ball. That means my upper body now is considerably rotating now compared to what it’s used to. And you’ll you’ll notice there’s less lateral. There is some lateral. As I say, if you’re good at moving laterally, you’ll never have to think about it.
