All right, what is up everyone? We are back and today I believe I have made the best beginner bag for $50. Let’s get into it. [Music] So, if you’re someone who’s curious or a new person getting into disc golf that doesn’t want to go spend a couple hundred on a bag, they don’t want to spend a few hundred to then fill up the bag with gear, discs, other accessories, I have a $50 bag that consists of three discs that is perfect for any round of disc golf. Up first, and this can be relative to what like feels comfortable for you, we have a baseline stable putter. Now, this is my current putter. This is an exo hard link firmer plastic, but it is a stable disc uh in this base plastic. So, it does feel good for putting. A lot of people don’t putt with premium discs because honestly, I don’t know. I don’t know if it’s a feel or the way the the base plastic kind of grips the chains a little better, but base plastic stable putter is what you’re looking for. These run typically about 13 to $15. I believe these are $13. So, $14 maybe, but fairly cheap. That’s about as good as it gets for a putter right there. Up next, we have a straight mid-range. I have the Malita right here, which is actually a really, really great. It’s newer uh mid-range. This is ESP plastic from Disc. This is going to run about 19 bucks. Super great point and shoot putter or mid-range. So, uh might get a little turn, little fade, but this is a great This will honestly probably be your longest flyer, even though I have a driver here. Up next, we have the MVP Trail. Uh, this is kind of specific as far as the other ones being straight made stable putters. This is one of the best beginner discs in my opinion. Is it a little faster than you should probably throw starting out? Probably. It’s a 10 speed, right? But it’s at negative one turn and fade. However, this is a great disc to work into uh as you progress and get better. So, at the start, it’s probably going to be pretty stable. Like when you throw that out, it’s probably going to get left pretty quick, but depending on wind, you can get different flights out of this thing. You can work into it and end up throwing. It’ll be one of your furthest flyers. This is one of the most popular discs in disc golf right now. So I I recommend it to a lot of people. Those trails also are about going for $19 as well. So basically what you’re looking at, I think if I did the math right, it’s about $52 for three discs. And these are three discs that that’s all you need for a disc golf round. So, what I’m going to do today is play nine holes here at Tom Watkins using only those three discs and just kind of show you how they fly and maybe what you’re looking for, what you’re not looking for. All right, up first 230T par three dead straight. I’m going to be throwing the putter. You can throw them. A lot of people don’t putt or throw with uh base plastic, but I’m going to just so you can kind of see the flight should you choose to throw it in the the mid here. And that’s the great part that this so we have a headwind and those that haven’t been explained headwind basically that headwind makes the disc more underststable. Now what that means is when you throw that more underststable if your right-handed backhand is turned to the right. So that’s why I recommend a stable putter is because if you are going to throw it like that the wind won’t affect it near as much when it is stable to slightly overstable. So something like that is perfect. same way. Basically, just that putter but longer. I also recommend doing exactly what I’m doing if you’re someone that’s new is to find an o park style course like this. Shorter holes, uh, not much to hit out here. You know what I mean? Cuz then you can really see, you can throw your discs on all angles and kind of get different flights and see what each disc is going to do at all those angles as well. Oh, have mercy. I knew that out of the hands. I will have a little bit of a shameless plug for those that don’t know or might be new. Me, my dad, and my brother, we own Ozark Mountain Discs in Springfield, Missouri. So, if you’re local or somewhat around the area, feel free to come in and see us. We’re there most of the time. If you’re someone that’s uh just watching this that doesn’t live close, we do have an online store with all of these discs in stock. So, if you’re looking for great beginner discs, feel free to comment on this video if you’re not wanting any of these. I can help you with recommendations for more and try to hook you up. But I was disc. All right, hole two. We’re going to go trail here. It’s a little bit longer. We’re looking at 360. It is playing downhill, though. So, still would recommend a driver. There are people that could throw mid if they wanted to on this hole. I might, depending on how this goes. But, we do have a little bit of a headwind. I’m going to throw this trail out flat and hopefully you can kind of see how wind does affect stability of discs as well. Get through that tree, please. Oh, it did. Wow. I really hope you can see that. Had I thrown that straight, that would have been incredible. But we were probably 10 ft from the basket. I kind of like recommending straighter discs like that. like the trail as good beginner disc because that’s kind of like intro to forehand as well. It’s a great disc that like you can just practice your angle control throwing that flat throwing it on his andheiser all the angles and be able to really trust what that disc is going to do cuz there’s a lot of times like the way I learned forehands was taking really overstable discs and throwing them on like chop andheiser angles and just letting the disc kind of stability fight out and do the work for me. Now, I I’ve since gotten better at forehands because I’ve been playing for a few years now, but if you want to kind of speedrun getting decent at forehands, like neutral stability discs are the way to go because you can really get good at angle control. I tell you what, had I not thrown it in the tree, this would have been really good. I mean, this is this is fantastic. I would take this shot every single time, but we’d be Oh, I almost missed that one, too. We’d be we’d be tucked if I threw it where I wanted. All right, hole three. We’re looking at 250 playing up the hill. Now, I could probably throw mid on this hole, but someone that’s just getting into it, this might be a perfect disc for a driver as you’re learning mechanics. So, I’ll probably throw both just so you can kind of get an idea about both. But this one, like if you’re just getting in, you’re learning mechanics, you have a slower arm, driver might be the play on this hole for you. Oh, that headwind. Like I said, oh, it’s gonna be just fine. a little off to the right, but headwind kind of took it that way. But this one, I’m just going to try to throw it slower, smoother, touch a hisiser, just like the most stock shot ever. Yeah, I’m pretty sure that one’s under the basket. just like that. Like where you could get that shot exactly how I just did that with a driver. Even though it’s 250, that’s a shorter hole, you know, for some, but that’s that’s whatever gets you to the basket is what you need to throw. I think that’s a good lesson to anyone watching this, beginner or experienced is to uh push the ego aside because like I’ve been throwing a lot further recently. Um and so I like to try to essentially club down to see if I can get to the basket throwing a slower disc. Typically I don’t. And I’m like, “Dang, maybe I don’t throw as far as I do.” But it’s like, if I just put the ego aside, throw the disc that I know is going to get to the basket, typically I score better. If I could have thrown this a touch harder, we might have had some fireworks, but uh I’ll take a bird. All right, this is like a sneaky tough hole. We’re going to go ahead and throw all three out. We’re looking at 245 playing. You got to beat this tree in the middle. There’s a tree on the right and a tree on the left. The basket is kind of sitting inside that triangle. And technically I probably won’t play it, but the walking path is out of bounds. So very kind of touchy shot here. So what I’m going to do is throw all three. Just try to throw them nice and smooth. Probably on hiser. Try to get somewhere close. Oh well. Kind of baby that one. Pretend you didn’t see that. I will say too, it’s funny like because you saw that disc kind of turn over, it is headwind one, but two, when the disc doesn’t come out clean and it has that wobble that you might experience if you’ve seen other people, that makes the disc more underststable because it’s not spinning as fast. Those RPMs aren’t cutting through the air. The wind’s kind of just doing what it wants with it. Go. Cleaner the disc. Straight to the shot. Do it. That’s really good. Yeah. See, that’s too much hiser. It’s really not bad, but that’s not good. This is where disc selection plays into important part and why you could theoretically play around. Play as much disc golf as you want with one disc. But having a couple more options gives you that chance for really success when you think about it. Because like that trail right there, grant I threw the mid really good. But that trail, that driver right there with the headwind, I can just throw that on his and know to trust it out wide rather than having to be touchier with the putter or the mid-range. I can just throw that driver out wide, know the wind, because I’m not throwing it very hard, the wind won’t do much with it. So, something to think about there as well. Now, that being said, was my mid-range a better shot? Yeah, but it was way touchier, you know, a little harder to execute than throwing that trail. All right, so now when you’ve gotten warm, you’re a little better, you’re starting to throw far, you can really let the disc eat here. We’re looking at 360. Pull out that straight driver. We’re going to try to throw this flat. The wind’s pushing a little right to left, so it’s going to make it a touch stable, but we’re just going to try to hit this out flat. Throw this sucker hard. Little short, but still. All right. Now, unfortunately, something to think about, too, is nose angle. That’s like kills distance. So when the disc comes out of your hand like basically where you can see the the top of the disc, the wind is just automatically pushing that up. That’s kind of what happened here. So a little nose up. Still good distance, but would love it for it to be better. Oh, come on. All right. This is another one where you can work on angles. I think this is like hole five or six. I honestly don’t remember. But basket is 219 dead straight. You kind of have a couple options here. You can go backhand hiser, kind of play it higher, let the disc crash in, or you can go right at it. So, I think what I’m going to do is throw a putter right at it, backhand with a mid hiser, just let it crash in. Uh, speed of it being a short hole to throw it that far. All right. Well, this ended up just kind of being a better version of the first shot. All right, hole again. I I think this is six maybe or seven. I don’t know. 285 straight off. I have to mention this like every time I play here, the teapad is facing here. The basket is actually like 45°. It’s like off this right corner. I don’t know why that is if the basket has changed, but I will probably slip off the teapad at least once. But we have a headwind here, I think, cuz I haven’t thrown any forehands yet today. I’m going to try the trail forehand. Just play it out to the left, let it crash, and then I’ll probably go backhand with the mid. Uh, I think I threw it too soft. I babyed it. But you can see there like I didn’t throw that very hard and it stayed on hiser. So, if I do throw that harder, especially in the headwind, that might even flip up a little more. I think I was just trying to be too careful with it. Stay up. Ah, it’s a good line. Just short. Oh, dude. Okay. Can I make an excuse real quick? You probably can’t see cuz it’s so small. I’m like right here coming up like a butterfly or something. Something colorful flew right in front of me. And so, yeah, that’s that’s bad. All right. So, this one’s pretty fun to work on speed and angle control kind of all at once. So, we’re looking at like pretty close to 300 ft, a little over. It’s sitting up and just to the left. So, basically, your line is to throw something flat that hisers back to the left at the end of the flight. Now, with the discs I have, I can throw that trail pretty flat, maybe a little bit of hiser. It should just push and have that stability. However, with the mid-range, since it’s a little straighter as well, I kind of have to put it on a lot more hiser, throw it harder, get it to flip up and push to get that distance. So, I’m hoping I can do both of those things correctly so you can see them. But starts here. Oh, see that skip. All right, we got the skip. Kind of bailed this out. That was exactly what I wanted to do, but again, I was so focused on angle and speed that I got the height wrong. So, messed it up just a little. Still a fine shot, but this one’s going to be a throw it a little harder. Obviously higher than that last one. Heiser, see if it just kind of flips up and pushes straight and then fades over. Oh, it got clipped. I think that was going to do it. But see, things like this are fortunate. You know, you love it, but you hate it at the same time. Because I’m still in a good spot, but I’m forcing myself to make a putt where if I thrown that like literally a foot and a half higher, maybe 2 feet higher, I’m sitting probably under the basket. But now I have, you know, 20 something feet for, you know, a birdie instead of a tap in. Oh, and then you pull it again. Why do I keep doing that today? And it’s unfortunate, but that’s again like that’s like a perfect example. That’s the price you pay sometimes. You know, you you throw you can still throw a good shot, but had you throwing the shot you want, it’s it’s easy birdies instead of now you’re forcing yourself to make a putt. So, it’s what it is. You know, I’m not really keeping score, so it’s not a huge deal. We’re looking at 323. We have two holes left. 323. We’re going to go trail and the the mid there. Just try to punch it out there. This is another fun one, too, that you can kind of work on angles kind of the same way as the last hole, actually. Like just because the driver is faster, I can throw this on a harder on a little more hiser and get that shot where I need to throw the mid probably flatter, get some turn out of it to try to get that full flight. But we’ll try again. Hit the pole. That’s about pin high, man. See, but now my angle is all off because I’m throwing that so low. I’m so focused on angle and everything and then you pull it. That’s tough. I throw bad shots a lot as does everyone. But it’s so annoying when I’m trying to record and like showcase things and then it’s like I can’t throw gr I haven’t thrown too many bad shots today. So that’s fortunate. But doing stuff like that is so annoying. All right, never mind. I thought I got a little further didn’t. But that’s just fine. So, this is why I like a stable putter. For jump putts, like longer putts where you can jump, I kind of like to put it out flat or like a touch of Annie and try to get almost like that full flight putt. Just helps me get a little more distance. Grant, this one’s not super super far, but we’ll see what happens here. See, that was it. But again, I didn’t think it was super far, so I kind of babyed it, which is pretty common for me. All right, let’s wrap this thing up here. Last hole. Let’s go. All right. This is the real reason why you buy multiple discs. We’re looking at 160 ft. Dead straight. This is your classic ace run hole. Unload the bag. If you haven’t heard that term and you’re just getting into it, you will soon hear that quite often. So, we’re going to throw all three at it. Try to make it. Good. First one there. Get down. Oh. Just in front. Almost hit the band. All right. Ah, baby it. Go. Ah, short, too. Who would have thought the putter would have been the best one? All right, we’re going to call right there. We’re not even going to putt these out. But that is it. That is a very solid beginner bag for anyone, even experienced, but again, beginners just getting into disc golf. We have all of those discs and more at ozer mountainis.com. If you’re looking to get started, head over there. Again, if you have any more questions, drop them down in the comments below. I’d love to answer them. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable. I’ve been doing this for a while. So, love to help you out. But that is all I got for you today. Ozman discs to the moon. [Music]

Good list. I love the Trail, but as an absolute beginner, I'd sub the Trail for a Crave.
