season long bet I beat Joe straight up in a round he owes me a thousand down by two whole 16 we got some gun makeup every Golf Course has a story a unique feature history secret or Reason to play but courses can’t talk so they can’t tell their own stories this is four four minutes telling the told and Untold Stories of golf courses all around the world this one is a story told by golfers every day when a simple plan to meet up with friends uncovers an unexpected Gem and leaves them with memories for a lifetime for forgive me if this weird [Music] First Southern Dunes in Han City Florida a course you have heard of but all should [Music] experience happens all the time you start to write down your chorus and the words you choose they don’t seem to rhyme she says you need to think before you speak you need to listen that a critique why never man un repeat in your I that CDM I CDM with wild bunkers lightning greens and a layout that’s been compared to the works of Jack Nicholas and Tom Fazio it’s anything but your typical Palm line Florida golf course in the world of bigname Premier courses it’s almost unknown with an even lesser known history before this became a Hidden Gem of Florida golf this land had a completely different purpose decades ago it was part of Florida’s massive Citrus industry miles of orange growes stretched across this area and for Generations families made their living off the land but in 1989 a hard freeze wiped out a huge portion of Florida Citrus crops farmers were left with dying Groves and tough choices some left others sold their land to developers and one made the attempt at something entirely different birthing the course we now know as Southern Dunes when designing the course the architect Steve smer embraced the natural Sandy Dunes Left Behind amongst the Lost orange groves the result one of the most unique golf courses in the state one that feels more like something out of Scotland in typical Florida [Music] golf the views of it were really cool I liked I liked all the bunkers all over the place super modern kind of fun shapes like a lot of them W weren’t even in play it was just fun to hit over bunkers that you had no shot of ever being [Music] in room off the tee said that I mean they’re lined with sand traps but it was nice that Fairways were hitable yeah we found I found a couple houses I found a couple of condos green side was tough you get creative kind of running at the at the p in different areas greens were fast tough really good shape bunkers were smooth like butter for being that much sand all of them being that well maintained 84 for me really fun Force um great company it was a pleasant day out there with the crew it was fun how it work season long B I put up 100 bucks if I beat Joe straight up in a round he owes me 1,000 I’m down by two whole 16 did just pipe one into a different zip code so we got to got make up [Music] [Music] that’s perfect yeah I don’t think it was ever in question [Music] we’d love to have you subscribe to join us on our golfing journey and if you have a unique story or piece of history from your favorite course send it our way we’d love to feature your story along with the course [Music] I just need another hat especially as I’m balding really got to step on my hat game here yeah this might be the last course I go for you guys with hair so

We hope that title doesn’t last long for Southern Dunes in Haines City, Florida. This course was a treat. We stumbled upon it when looking for a good meet up spot with the boys and couldn’t have been happier with our experience.
