All presented by Old Trapper
beef jerky. Manti Te’o is
telling you it’s a hoodie Friday for him and for BG.
Brandon Graham arrived and he
understood the assignment. I’m Jamie Erdahl and there’s Kyle
Brandt. That was the most ping
pong way of telling you that. It is Friday, September 19th.
We got BG at the table. Kyle,
how’s your guy doing? How are we all set up out there? We’re
doing excellent. We feel great
in New York. This is my guy. He came in here ready to roll. Are
you ready to talk? Some ball 55.
I’m ready to talk. Ready to talk. Ready to talk. Kyle, you
look ready. You said it twice
and he’s got his hoodie. He looks great. We had a game last
night. We thought maybe it
might be a terrible game, guys, but it was actually pretty good.
And we have a whole bunch this
weekend. Let’s get into it. Let’s start digging into it.
Gmfb Friday. Let’s go, let’s go.
Come on. Welcome to Good Morning Football presented by
Old Trafford for sure. That’s
right. Gmfb everybody what’s happening. Good people. Happy
Friday, TGIF if you will. But
it is a Friday, so that means we watch the football game last
night, which was an excellent
thing to do. Kyle Brandt, nice hat. What are we doing here
today? You know what? It’s come
to this. Jamie, I’m wearing hats. This is this is the. This
is this hat has a story. It’s
the old Josh Allen hat that he wears with New ERA. And it’s
for the Children’s hospital
that Josh Allen does so much work with on Buffalo. This was
Josh’s drawing of a bills logo.
You know, rookies come into the league, they make them all do
all kinds of fun stuff and
nonsense. Draw the team logo. He drew it. It’s a hat now.
Then they auction it off and it
goes to charity. So they sent us one. I’m like, I’ll wear it
for the show open. It’s fun. It
looks cool, right, Brandon, what do you think? I also feel
like it could turn into a bill
logo. Like a child’s illustration. You know, it
could turn into, like, a kid’s
book. Yes it does. That’s what we’ll do it. We’ll get the book
going in the meantime. And
while we’re getting the book going, it’s just you could
throw the entire playbook at
the Buffalo Bills with the Miami Dolphins. I don’t know if
it’s going to help at all. Can
we get to the highlight? Let’s get to it. Because you’re in
Thursday Night Football on
Prime. Let’s go. There’s the lead block. There’s an
inexplicable generic blue
football helmet. And here we go. The bills have won six straight
against the Dolphins. Josh
Allen has never lost to the Dolphins in Western New York.
Mike McDaniels never started
zero two though. So let’s turn this thing around. And Dalton
Kincaid touchdown. This is a
really cool play where he wasn’t really even looking for
the ball when it left Allen’s
hand. And they’re off and running. But the Dolphins were
gaming in this one. It’s seven
seven. See. Now watch this one. And Chris Berman what a shovel
pass. Who’s that Jackson Hawes
they’ve got these big white boy tight ends coming out
everywhere Brandon Graham they
got Jackson haws Dalton Knox Dawson Knox. Who the hell knows
what their names are 14 and
seven on a third and 12. This was a really good drive by
Miami and a really good drive
by Tua. So two in chains before the half. And they kept
converting third downs even on
this one on a third and 12. And you’re like all right Tua looks
like he may have a night maybe
maybe Miami shock somebody. But hold on. Let’s see if they can
finish first under a minute to
play. Now I said another third down. Going to try to put a
drive together before the half
and two. A scramble for the love of God. Get down to it. He
does, he does. He gets down, he
slides. He looks like a franchise quarterback. Calm.
Composed. Mike McDaniel. It’s
like it’s a 2023 all over again. We’re doing things and we’re
going to Jaylen Waddle. You
like Jaylen Waddle Brandon Graham yes he does. And look at
that. His name is Waddle. He
waddles. So they get in the end zone. And we got a really tight
game at halftime. And the bills
just kind of start leaning on him. Josh Allen does his own
scramble. He only runs a 4.7.
But he’s got to be the most effective four seven runner in
history. I mean it’s incredible
how well he runs. And then there’s a brawl. There’s a
brawl and Graham wants to run
in there and get mixed up because somebody touched the
quarterback. They don’t like
that. Those old linemen right. No they don’t. And then cook I
mean this is Jimbo. He had 100
yards. He looked really good last night. Just fresh spry
angry. And so Buffalo you think
are they going to pour it on now. Fourth quarter 2114 Miami
has a fourth down. They’re
going to go for it. They’re in bills territory to a fires
Jaylen Waddle. There he is
against Trey White. It’s kind of a retro matchup. My son
still has his Jaylen Waddle
jersey. He’s going to wear it today I thought it was good
last night. And watch Tyreek
touchdown guys. We got a tie game in the fourth quarter bam.
I still love that. He will do
that. And to his feeling it is this going to be a game. Comes
down to the wire. And then you
know what bad teams do they make bad mistakes Brandon you
and I were watching this before
the game. What do you think of this play, man? You can’t make
that mistake, especially in the
fourth quarter. That’s why they lost this game. Because in a
serious close situation, they
can’t make those right decisions. Yeah, that was Zach
Sieler. He bulldozes the long
snapper. Then he hits the punter. And then that is going
to be a wrap because that’s
Khalil Shakir. This game should be remembered as Miami was
totally competitive. They were
not they were not a double digit spread. It was 2121 in
the fourth. Then that play
happens. And then on a first and ten, my man Terrel Bernard,
I thought he was going to house
that thing. But Jaylen Waddle is too fast. That basically
iced it. That’s a pick that he
said he had seen on film. The o. The draft was in Las Vegas. It
was glorious. And Tyreek at oh
and three oh and three hits different than that. Oh and one
bills by ten. It was not a
blowout from what I understand. Even though I don’t follow it I
don’t think they covered. And
afterwards our guy Cam Wolfe holding court with the reigning
NFL MVP. Take it away cam. Josh,
you said this week that this team is better than the record
was. They took you down to the
wire. But ultimately you guys found the win eight zero
against this team here. What’s
the secret about playing here against this against this team.
Well I think our fans give us a
lot of juice. This is a team that was prepared ready to go.
You know their their line,
their front, their front five. They’re as good as anybody in
the league. So we knew we were
going to have our hands full. I thought we did a good job of
running it. I thought we passed
it pretty well. You know got to sustain a few more drives and,
you know, we’ll be all right.
Josh, you threw the shovel pass to Jackson for his first TD and
then you threw another one. Did
you feel a heat check a little bit with those shovel passes.
Yeah sometimes it happens. It’s
just in the split moment of the game. It’s just what it is. I
know a lot of people made a big
deal out of your nose last week. How was the visor playing with
that today? It was great. I
might keep it around for a little bit. Might keep it
around a little bit. No. Is
your parents anniversary? How is 300 touchdowns the first the
fastest to ever do it as a
present for them? I mean, I think they just enjoy being
here, getting to watch me. I
love their support. They don’t miss many games. You know I’ve
got a got some really good role
models in my life. Yeah. You got to ask the Allen parents
what’s the secret. How do you
get the marriage to last so long? But that’s for a
different show. We got to talk
about the bills and how they continue this success for as
long as they have. A lot of it
has to do with the quarterback. Josh Allen. Pretty competitive,
pretty entertaining. Really
good job by the Prime Video guys on the Thursday Night
Football broadcast. But the AFC
East still goes through Buffalo. The bills looked pretty good to
close the door last night. Yes
they did. The only thing that I didn’t appreciate is obviously
I chose the bills as my
survivor team and I was up. Guys, I’m supposed to be going
down around that time. Three
minutes left in the fourth, I was pacing around my house. I
was a little worried because
the Miami Dolphins offense did everything and everything
possible to win that game. It
was the defense and special teams. Listen guys, the Buffalo
Bills are a hard team to beat.
They’re almost impossible. Impossible to beat if you help
them beat you. And that’s what
they did last night with the roughing the punter play by
sealer. You had the unnecessary
roughness called by a captain and and Jordan Brooks that
sustained drives in in the red
in the low red zone. The very next play was a touchdown. Like
guys this is a team where the
game comes easy. If you watch the Buffalo Bills play,
especially Josh Allen, the game
comes easy to him. It’s almost unfair to watch, but this is
something that stood out to me
guys, that was indicative of the type of defense that the
Miami Dolphins had. Did you
guys see when Jack Jones made that that those two plays back
to back right here he makes
this TfL and BG you know this like where’s the celebration at.
Where’s the congratulations.
Like he’s walking around. He just made a great play. And
then the very next play very
next play. Second down he makes this one. He comes up makes a
good hit out of bounds. Where’s
the celebration. Where’s the camaraderie. He’s like on an
island by himself. You know
this BG being on great defenses. There’s there’s there’s an
energy when somebody makes a
play. Especially when you’re only down seven. You’re still
in the game. When a game that
nobody expects you to be in, he makes a great play and there’s
no celebration. There’s no
somebody coming up hitting him, jacking him up. There’s nothing
like that. So that those two
plays said exactly what it showed me exactly what I needed
to see. But the Miami Dolphins
defense and the status they’re in b KB. That’s a really
insightful observation. Could
we could we rerack that that tape that Mantei was just
showing of the lack of
celebrations because I’m sitting here next to Brandon
Graham and he’s his eyebrows
are going up. So you’re seeing what Mantei is laying out. What
do you think of this Brandon?
Man, I see I see guys that’s out there being selfish because
if a guy like that on my team
is making a play, I’m slapping his head. I’m getting that
energy because I need that
energy to go out and make a play to help the defense wins.
And right there, it just shows
that everybody just either gassed or they’re not trying to.
They’re not trying to celebrate
with their team because man, it’s something about just that
energy that you transfer to
your teammates when you make big plays and that that that is
a great insight. Monte. Do it
again. Do it again. Run the play again. This is an
unbelievable thing, man. Ty,
you you’re an zero two team on national television. You’re
playing against the NFL MVP.
This is a great play. It’s a tackle for no gain. Not one
dude touches him, looks at him,
daps him. Nothing. Nobody. There’s ten dudes out there.
That’s a good play in a really
competitive game where you’re fighting for your life. You’re
trying to save your head coach.
You might pull the upset of September and then he makes a
second play in a row. They got
one guy hit him in the shoulder. It was probably like a special
teams guy on the sideline.
Right, right, right. It came out and jumped. Yeah I can’t
even be sure that was a player.
It might have been the team manager. Crazy that man. That
is incredible. In like in what
was looked at as like a not a bad night for Miami. And that’s
how you know you’re having
problems is when people are coming out on shows and Twitter
this morning being like, hey
Miami, you showed some fight. Great. There’s golf claps.
There’s golf claps for Miami
this morning. And Tua has got to be asked if it’s a moral
victory, a moral victory to
beat, to lose to a division rival that beats the doors off
every time. It’s really, really
tough. And in the meantime, listen Buffalo, this team has
they have one seed potential.
This team has 14 and three and 15 and two potential. I was
seeing some things last night
as Buffalo wrapped it up in the fourth quarter where people are
like, how did the bills get
this schedule, what happened? And guys, I don’t know if
you’ve looked. Please don’t
pull up the schedule because I can’t stand it. But if you
looked at the bills schedule,
like, I’ll just let me just give you the greatest hits. The
bills play the Saints, the
Panthers, the Browns, the Jets, the Pats twice. The Dolphins
again like it’s there’s nothing.
They played the Chiefs in the regular season a the Chiefs
aren’t the Chiefs. And the
bills always beat the Chiefs in the regular season like this.
This could be 15 and two. The
schedule is nothing. I don’t know how they were given that
schedule, but they are
everything they need to be. They’re three and zero. The
Ravens game week one. It felt
like their biggest game of the season. They won 41 to 40. So
listen I said I was asked
yesterday like Josh Allen this Josh Allen that I’m like
whatever. He we know he’s done.
He’s always going to do that. James Cook last night looked so
good. He looked like their
second best player not on offense on the whole team. And
I was told that, you know Ed
Oliver’s out and Milano’s out and Miami might run all over
him. It was still a double
digit win at home against a team fighting for their lives.
Buffalo is one of 2 or 3
juggernauts we have right now, and I cannot believe their
schedule. I hate to be checked
the schedule guy, but the schedule is hilarious. I don’t
know how they got that, but it
looks like 15 and two to me. Kyle, it’s great points by you
and by all around, honestly.
And and while we watch that play a couple of those plays
over and over again, I want to
go back to the Bernard pick because, Kyle, you were saying
during the highlight that
Terrell was saying after the game, I watched the clips and I
saw this play unfold and I can
visualize this. First of all, Kyle, I can’t I don’t think BG
can appreciate the why behind
you knowing all those facts about the draft night for
Gerald Bernard. So can you just
refresh with him why a chicken wing is involved in that memory
bank for you? If you don’t know
how I know, I’ll stop my head. The Terrell Bernard is the 89th
overall pick in the third round
pick of the Buffalo Bills out of Baylor. I was I got to
announce his draft pick. I was
in Buffalo or I was in Las Vegas. I was the third round
pick. I had the zubaz pants on.
And listen, Terrell Bernard was looked at as a potential
promising player out of Baylor,
a third round pick, and now he is like a captain. He is an
electric player. He jumped that
route. He made a bunch of different hits. That’s Terrell
Bernard right there who I
remember we talked about him early on. We were like, oh,
maybe he amounts to something.
He’s got the C on his chest. He’s making game sealing
interceptions. Terrell Bernard
is the kind of guy who like, he’s got to make a play like
that against Mahomes or Lamar
or somebody in January. And he has. And he will. That’s just
one of those role players they
have on Buffalo. Is there any way just one more time before
we go to Tom Pelissero, can we
please see Manti’s tape of no celebrations from the Dolphins?
Because I can’t get enough of
this, can you? Rerack it. Brandon’s already smiling
because I want to shout out,
here we go. All right, so Manti, you point this out. Tackle for
a loss or tackle for no gain.
Not a single person raises their hands, claps, celebrates
anything. Next play. Same
player running up there getting him out of bounds. Now watch.
There’s one dude Brandon. Watch
the left side of the screen. There’s going to be a hand that
comes in. Ready? Ready. There
it is. Yeah there you go. They got love. They got love. Give
you some of that. You had the
juice. He had a little bit of juice. Guys. You got to do
better than that. That is a man
I put put a cap on this for us. I can’t believe that. Well,
guys, it’s all indicative of
the culture, right, guys? It seems like it’s a split team.
You look at the offense,
they’re fighting for their life. You know Tyreek Hill is doing
flips. Waddle is doing his
waddle. And then you watch the defense. And you have this
right. Like it’s just night and
day. And when you’re trying to win a game especially when
you’re in a game like that to a
team like the Buffalo Bills have put up 40 plus points in
the past two weeks, and you’re
holding them the way you’re holding them. There has to be
some juice. There has to be
some excitement. At least that’s what I was expecting.
And then when I saw those back
to back plays that a corner made and there’s no celebration,
there’s no captains coming over
there and hitting them. Yesterday we just saw we just
saw one of the best
celebrations in scat coming over to to to Russell Wilson.
And it wasn’t even a play he
was involved in. And to see that just the contrast between
the two teams guys, it was it
was very obvious to me. Yep. What is trying to think about
your long established career?
What was the worst start? Did you ever start zero and three?
Did you go one and two? Can you
remember a time like that and then like, what did you do when
you get to that point? Was it
starting to really go down the drain or do you try to stay up?
What do you remember? You know
what, man, this is where you really battle tested right here
because you right now, things
didn’t start off the way you wanted it to in the beginning
of training camp, like your
goals or what you wanted to do. But now this is where your your
leaders come in, your captains,
and they have those player only meetings. It’s like, what are
we doing? Like we’re not that
far behind. We were just in this game. We just made
mistakes. Now we got to clean
it up. And really it’s all about who like the why of why
they’re doing it. Are you doing
it for money? You got to find motivation in whatever it is.
Your team, whatever that team
is, you got to know your team and you know your. You said the
players only meeting the
Dolphins had one last week when they started out in two, I saw
I think it was J.J. Watt. I
think he was talking to McAfee about like players only
meetings are ridiculous.
Everyone just gets up there, they complain, they walk out.
Is there anything to that or
are they just like some nonsense thing? No, no, that’s
true, I think. I think it’s
more of you just got to have respect in that room and it’s
all about respect. You got to
be able to go and talk to your guys and be honest about where
you are as a as a captain, like
man, I have failed y’all here. And then we talk about what it
is that we could do better. And
then we just start applying it one day at a time and then
being able to call it out,
because that’s really what all it is. It’s like, look y’all,
we all just came together. Some
of us been here, some of us new because we got free agent
signings, all that stuff. But
we all have to build this to get to where we’re trying to go.
And it should end up finishing
like this if you’re really serious about it. I just saw
you become a television
professional right in front of our very eyes. I don’t think
you can appreciate what you
just did. Kyle Brandt asked you specifically, did you ever
start zero and two? Zero, three.
One and two. I watched your wheels turn. You were like, you
know what? We were so good when
I was in Philadelphia. I can’t land on a single season. That
happened. And instead you
avoided answering the direct question and you gave the
feedback. It was perfect. BG
well done, well done. We’ve been winning the last couple
years. It’s kind of hard to
kind of remember some of that. I know maybe 12 years ago or
something. You started one and
two. Sorry. No. He’s like he’s like, you know what? It doesn’t
doesn’t track for my playing
career, but I can speak to it at least. Well done. BG awesome
all around. You know, I can
speak to one thing. What do you got winning in the beginning of
23. And then we crumbled
towards the end. So yeah, you did. That was one thing that we
I mean I can’t, I can only say
as a captain man, it was tough to kind of go through it, but
it taught me great lessons. And
we’ll talk about that in December. Yeah, exactly. You’re
with us all year. Lock in.
We’ll wait for the Crumble Apart team and then we’ll get
BG. At the beginning. Yeah. Hot
start, hot start. Just like on Gmfb. All right Tom Pelissero
good morning to you. Our NFL
network insider with us this morning. Really fun to watch.
The Dolphins I know don’t want
it to be patronizing but they fought last night. But what’s
the latest with the quarterback.
Yes Tom first of all may I just refresh BG’s memory? I know
that we’ve all blocked 2020 out
of our brains for a variety of different reasons, but if
memory serves, you tied the
Bengals in Week three to fall to zero two and one, ended up a
four win team and everyone got
fired. So there was that season that did occur. You were on
that team. I’m just saying we
all have our good moments. We all have our bad moments. It’s
important sometimes to keep
those bad moments at the forefront of your brain.
Welcome to the show, Brandon.
You’re doing a fantastic job. Wow. Tom. No, Tom, you got
Covid. You’re right. That was
such a blur because that’s how I want to think about it. Covid
no more. You know what, Tom?
They weren’t allowed to have a players only meeting because of
social distancing, so they
couldn’t even do it. They’re getting swabs every two seconds.
Couldn’t get it together. You
could have it. But you needed to be in a large enough room
that everyone could sit six
feet apart while wearing PPE, a phrase I have not used in five
years. I’ve also blocked out
most of what happened that year from my brain. Let’s go ahead
and go into 2025 and talk about
some Tiger King around the NFL, starting out with commanders
quarterback Jayden Daniels, who
is dealing with a knee sprain, did not practice the past two
days. His status remains in
doubt for Sunday’s game against the Raiders. Dan Quinn has said
Daniels needs to practice in
order to play. Quinn has also said they’re going to be
cautious with Daniels and he’s
only going to play if he’s full go. So the real test will be
today, 11 a.m. eastern, when
the commanders are back on the field. If Daniels is out there,
that will keep alive whatever
slim hopes he has of being able to play this week. If he’s not
out there, then that would
virtually ensure that it will be Marcus Mariota going up
against the Raiders. Another
quarterback injury news 40 Niners quarterback Brock Purdy
was on the field practicing on
a limited basis for the second consecutive day after missing
last week’s game against the
Saints with toe and left shoulder injuries. It is the
toe from a variation of turf
toe that is most significant for Brock Purdy, but he sounded
a relatively optimistic tone.
Speaking to reporters, saying we got to see how I feel at
game time. That would suggest
that at least from Purdy’s standpoint, we’ll see about the
team standpoint. But at least
from Purdy’s standpoint, he feels like he’s moving forward
enough that he would like to at
least keep the option open up until Sunday to play in what is
a pretty big game in the NFC
West against the Arizona Cardinals. If Purdy can’t go,
or if the team decides to
continue proceeding cautiously, then will be Mac Jones getting
another start after the win
last week over the Saints. Meanwhile, the Packers had an
injury scare in practice on
Thursday when tight end Tucker Craft, coming off a breakout
performance against the
commanders, suffered a knee injury, was not able to
complete practice. He underwent
a variety of tests. Now, from what we are told, this is not
believed to be a significant
injury for Tucker Craft. It is believed to be just a small
tweak. That’s the good news.
The perhaps less good news is his status for Sunday’s game
against the Browns is at least
somewhat clouded. We’ll see how he felt overnight. Does it
swell up? Is he still okay? Is
he on the practice field today? He has emerged as a really
significant weapon for a team.
Remember also just lost one of their wide receivers, Jayden
Reed, for at least the next
couple of months after he underwent collarbone and foot
surgery here. So something to
keep an eye on for green Bay when they hit the practice
field today. Jamie. Man. Tom
that I don’t like hearing that for the Packers. He was so good
last week. Tucker Kraft was.
Thanks for the information. We’ll keep an eye on everything
for you. And just to put a bow
on what we were talking about earlier, not about the no high
five thing, but the fact that
Kyle made the Terrel Bernard draft pick for the Buffalo
Bills. You know who else has
kind of a draft pick? Flex is Brandon Graham. Because BG,
were you not in Detroit for the
Cooper Dejean pick? Yo, look at how this thing panned out. Oh
yeah. Look at you. You guys can
talk during the commercial. How stressful it is to make sure
you stick the landing on the
pronunciations. Yeah, I had Terrel, Bernard, Dejean. Dejean.
Did you know how to say that
thing? Dejean. Dejean. They help you out backstage, don’t
you? They did. There’s people.
They do. Yeah. And then pick six in the Super Bowl, baby. Oh,
look at that. See, I got
Terrell and I’m like, it’s not Terrell Bernard. Like Terrell
Owens messed up the whole
Terrell Terrell industry for everyone. It was Terrell
Bernard. And I got it. Well we
could have an entire segment on Kyle’s pants but we won’t. We
got to do Mad Minute. All right.
Coming up on Gmfb. We got Mad Minute. We got guests coming on.
We got BG who’s a blossoming
flower in the television industry. It’s going to be
great. We’ll be right back a
blooming onion. Yeah. Blooming onion Kyle. Who’s that. Who’s
coming on. We got Zach and
Jamie. Yeah. Zach Bond. Good I’m exactly where I should be,
where I want to be. Guys, way
to find a way, way to find a way, right? Take pride. Take
pride in winning. However, we
need to win. And then we go back to work again. We find a
way again. We repeat again and
again and again. Right? It’s about process in a world right
where everybody wants
everything right away. It’s about our process. It’s about
the process for the
Philadelphia Eagles. Don’t ask him about doing what they did
last season. It’s about 2025.
And a part of that defense and defense for the Eagles is
linebacker Zach Bond friend of
our show. And he’s joining us now on a Friday. Let’s go Zach
come on baby oh there he is.
There he is. Let’s go right there dawg. Look at how look at
how committed committed you
were to the introduction Zach we appreciate that. Zach. How
good is it to see your friend
BG doing the TV thing on Fridays with us? Hey super
impressed with BG. Great
football player. Even better on television. You look good boy.
Oh yeah thank you. That’s a
standard, Zach. So Zach’s too man. Right here. We’re right
here, baby. Yeah. Yeah. Zach,
you guys are two and. Oh, you guys look great. It’s a good
start, but we always want to
take the temperature. You know? What is this thing feeling like
from a defensive side of the
ball in terms of the pieces you have and the performances
you’ve put out on the field?
How are you guys feeling in the meeting rooms? Yeah. Feeling
good. Obviously a lot of new
pieces lost, a lot of guys. BG being one of them from last
year. But the good thing is
when we bring new guys in, we have such a good culture here
in the building that when we
bring them in, they understand what what coaches are asking,
what what players are asking of
them and they buy in right away. I really like where we’re at,
but like Nick said, it’s all
just a process. You got what you got. Hey, Zach. So last
night, man, we was watching
this bills game. We was all just talking. Monty brought it
up. And so the Dolphins they
were struggling but they made two. This player made two plays
back to back man. When you make
plays back to back that’s important in the game. What are
you expecting from your
teammates. It’s all about tough, detailed and together. The
biggest one in my favorite one
is being together and celebrating after a teammate
makes a play is the biggest way
you can show that on the field. Just just being there for your
teammates, whether it’s hitting
their celebration or just being hyped up. Yeah, yeah, you got
to celebrate. Didn’t have that
last. They didn’t they didn’t have that last night. And it
was two key plays in there
where man I didn’t see no energy. And then it got to
third down third and long at
that. And that’s a D lineman. We’re thinking the DBS and you
guys the linebackers for making
those plays so that we can go make this rush and get this
sack that we need to pad them
stats and go help win the game. But yeah, man, it was it was
hard. It was heartbreaking to
see you know, Miami and their defense not not as together as
you would like them to be. Yeah.
You got to have that piece for sure. No doubt. No doubt. And
there are so many pieces we got
to talk to you about. We love having you on to talk about the
game last night. And BG is
fired up about it. You know who else was fired up this past
week? We all have respect for
the Chiefs. Chris Jones, his D lineman, one of the all time
greats. He’s miked up on the
sideline. After you guys beat him he’s screaming. They ran
the same play seven bleeping
times. He’s talking about the tush push. Of course
everybody’s in their feelings
about it. Everybody’s emotional about it. Zach what is it like
for you in a game when you’re
over on the sideline and your offense is just running that
same play over and over, and
nobody could stop it? Yeah. When it comes to like fourth
and one third and one even even
second one, I’m just run it back. Run it back. Yeah. If
they stop it once it’s going to
be really hard for them to stop it again. It’s a good play.
It’s a good football clean
football play. And our team just so happens to run it
really well. So Zach there’s
there’s a real impression out there right now. And I happen
to agree with it really that
this is probably the last year for that play. I think in the
offseason they will meet about
it again. And I think there’s been so much noise that I think
there’s a good likelihood that
it will be banned in the next offseason. How does that make
you feel as a guy who knows
these guys so well, who run it over and over so successfully?
Whether they ban it or not? I
know our team and our staff is going to find another way to to
get first downs. It is what it
is. Good one. Yeah, yeah, I don’t have much to say about it.
It’s a good play. Yeah. Zach,
Zach you know there’s good plays and then there’s great
plays. I was so grateful that I
got to be there Thursday night when you guys took on the
Cowboys. And I want to talk
about a specific play from that game. Because there’s plays
that I call want to the plays
that I call pure effort and is when you sprinted over 30 yards
to bring down Myles Sanders
saving a touchdown like they wouldn’t have, you guys
wouldn’t have got that turnover
if you wouldn’t have made that decision. So let’s let’s go
through this thing. Obviously
you had to bump out. Tell tell me what’s going through your
mind. What what are you seeing
in this situation. Yeah this is a tough play for for the mike
here. It’s A61 front and I have
to bump out with three. But I also have to fit the run. And
I’m backside of the play. It
squirts out and I just got to run. That’s all it is. It’s all
effort. Yeah. The thing I don’t
like about this play is that I didn’t go for the punch with
the left hand and secure the
tackle. Yeah, but I got him down, I got him down and we got
the ball out a couple plays
later. Spoken like a true All-Pro, Zach. We play a game
on Wednesdays, Whiteboard
Wednesday, and I have to tee up questions things around the
league. And this week we had
one. And Manti and Kyle answered it perfectly. It was.
Jalen hurts is averaging 119
passing yards, which is second fewest in the NFL. And
everyone’s supposed to be up in
arms about this. But Manti and Kyle wrote on their boards and
so do you have a word for the
critics that are out here calling for more from your
quarterback? We’re winning
games. We’re winning games. Yeah, a win’s a win. I don’t
care how it is, how it looks,
who it’s against. A win is a win. And he’s efficient. He’s
smart, he knows what he’s doing
and he’s a great quarterback. Anything about the defense? Hey.
Hey, Zach. Now, now that you
know the business is squared away, you got your your first
contract. You know, big one too.
What was the what was the first thing that that you wanted to
get squared away, you know, to
make sure everything was good. Now that you getting a little
money. Nice. I’m not a big
money guy. I drive a Honda Accord, but I did I did I did
buy a house in the suburbs here
in Philly. There you go. Congratulations, Zach. Congrats,
Zach. We have followed and
celebrated your story over the last couple of years. It’s
becoming really a household
name. You’re also a captain. And with that comes a lot of
leadership. Now week one the
entire world happened with Jalen Carter. We saw everything.
He got ejected. We’re moving on
from it. In the wake of that. What do you do as a captain and
a member of that defense? When
you see a young player who’s still finding his way in the
league, have a moment like that,
how do you get him to get back on the tracks and play football?
Yeah, Jalen Carter situation
was one thing, but I look at that game as a whole and we had
a bunch of dumb penalties.
Whether it was taunting, roughing the passer, late, late,
hit on the quarterback, all
those things. And just as a team, just being there for the
guys and telling them how much
it affects not only them but the rest of the team as well.
And each guy responds to things
differently. Some guys you can go up to and talk to about it,
some guys are like, I know, I
know what I did wrong. So just knowing your guys and knowing
how you can kind of approach
them in those different situations. Hey Zach, I got a
big question bro. Obviously
you’re in Philly. Philly fans are passionate, but you also
came from a New Orleans. I got
to know, bro. Do you prefer Philly cheesesteaks over the
Drago’s oysters you have to
choose one Philly cheesesteak or the oyster? I really like
both, but Drago’s oysters I
feel like are very situational. I feel like Philly cheesesteak
you can have all the time and
there’s variety in the cheesesteaks, baby. Come on, I
like that. I was worried for
you for a second. I was like, oh no, he’s going down with the
ship. If he’s going to go with
oysters right now, let’s not do that. I tested him, Zach. I
can’t I can’t hear the words
tush push. And I can’t let you go without asking you this. And
I don’t want Vic Fangio coming
for me, all right? But I do just want to make sure that
that we have this on tape, if
you will. Zach, we ask everybody that comes on this
show who plays for other teams.
The 31 other defenses in the league will. Do you have any
ideas how to stop the tush push?
And clearly everyone is at a loss. Does your defense know
how to stop the tush push and
how does one do that? I mean, it’s not a play we get in
practice. The offense works
really hard by themselves, luckily, but I have my ideas,
but I don’t want to let them
out out there right now. I can’t, I can’t. You have ideas
on how to stop it. Yeah I do, I
do, I do, man. Will you stop it? Cool, man. Yeah, right. What do
you got? Can you know how? Oh,
I got my ideas too. Really? We got the personnel to do it. You
got the personnel? Because
sometimes, being honest, they ain’t got the personnel. We got
the O-line right now, and I’m
just going to just ride with that because we got the O-line.
Because a lot of people wish
they could do it, and they got to take away the quarterback
sneak. If they going to take
away the push. Either way, just break it all up, break it all
up, run a play. Someone lit a
match under BG about this. This can’t be I don’t know BG all
right Zach we appreciate you so
much. We hope you stay healthy, stay well and string together.
A couple more wins so we can
keep bringing you on on BG Fridays. All right. Yes. Thank
you. Love you. You’re the man
Zach. Thank you. Love you too. Yeah. The international games
are back on NFL network. And it is. Come on rider for. Rider
folk, here I am. Time for a
wake up call presented by Verizon. As a matter of fact,
we’ve been playing pretty clean.
But as far as the offense, I feel like O-line has been doing
good. Jordan Love’s been
playing phenomenally and I mean, we all just been playing and
seeing, executing. That’s why
we were two and oh right now. And the goal is to, you know,
keep it going because I think
we can go undefeated honestly. Undefeated. Did he just say
that about the Packers okay
Rasheed Walker right BG that takes you’re sitting there.
You’re like I’m just thinking
about my team and how we’ve been playing. And you know I
think we could mess around and
go undefeated. Let’s do Mad Minute shall we. That’s an
undefeated segment. As Kyle
Brandt would say, the Packers had to Cleveland to take on the
Browns this week. 60s on the
clock. Share the ball appropriately. I don’t want
anybody getting in trouble.
Man’s side. Packers. Browns, take it away. Well, there was
something that came up on the
injury report yesterday. It was Tucker Kroft. That kind of
worries me a little bit with
his knee thing, because they really need him. He seems like
to be the most comfortable
target for Jordan Love. But that defense is playing fast.
They’re playing electric. So I
can’t wait to see if they even go undefeated. Those are big
words guys. Yes they are. BG I
will say I got the Packers in this one because I just think
the Browns offense just haven’t
fulfilled, you know, the first couple games of the season and
the defense, they’re going
against number one defense right now. In my mind,
especially with Michael being
there. But I got to go with green Bay. Yeah listen nobody’s
going undefeated. You’re two
and zero. Let’s just calm down. It’s also one of the most
useless pursuits in the NFL. No
one cares if you go in defeated. The Patriots did it. They got
worked in the Super Bowl. We
know how that is. Like I cannot believe that word undefeated
came out of his mouth at two
and zero. If you want to get to ten zero and we can start
talking about you’re going to
be 17 zero finally, that’s fine. But like this is getting
intoxicated on the power
ranking type society we live in. The Packers look great right
now. They’ll be three and zero.
They’re not going undefeated. Come on. It’s a hard skill to
be in your media availability.
Like you need an off ramp for some of those conversations.
You’re like, I want to take
that word and put it back in my mouth, but it’s all right. We
understand what you’re trying
to get to. Two classic logos Face Off this week and the
Steelers and the Patriots.
Aaron Rodgers looking to bounce back against a tough outing
last week. Patriots tough loss
from week two Brandon BG, I start with you. What do you
want to see from Rogers
Steelers Packers this weekend. Patriots well I want to see the
Patriots defense come through
like they did in this last game. My guy Milton Williams, he went
out there and got the last sack
of the game. I could really see the Patriots coming out and
playing really good defense
against the Steelers. And and taking this win. Drake may get
his get his what, third win or
second win. Second win I’m I’m looking at Rogers Rogers throws
four touchdowns in the opener.
He’s doing this to Jets fans. He’s feeling himself week two
not great. We saw he was
frustrated I saw Kurt Warner was out there. I think he was
talking to Rich this week
saying week two is the Rogers that he expects to see this
season. I’m paraphrasing, but
let’s find out. Rogers has built a career off defined
talks like that. It’s a big
game. It’s a road game. You got to get to two and one. I want
to see what we get from number
eight this weekend. I got to see this rush defense for the
Steelers guys. I think that’s
the weak link for them. Yeah they’re not really doing well
against the run. They’re doing
pretty good against the pass. But that rush defense needs to
get better. What’s going on
with Caleb Johnson. That’s after that play that he had
last week. So there’s a few
little things that I’m looking at. That’s a good one. All
right. One of the great stories
to start the 2020 NFL season is the Indianapolis Colts. They
now look to go three and zero.
And this time they go to Tennessee to take on the number
one overall pick in cam Ward
who Kyle looks like he’s starting to feel himself in and
of itself Daniel Jones though.
What’s he going to do. Are you going to take the entire 60s to
talk about Indiana Jones.
That’s incredible thing. Fortune and glory. Jamie three.
And oh wait, the Daniel Jones
Colts are looking at three. And oh in the in the in the face I
brought this up the other day
that everyone was freaking out last year about the Saints
going two zero with Derek Carr,
and then everything completely exploded. I don’t think I see
that here. They also have the
special thing going on with their owner passed away in the
off season, and they’re playing
for something different. Like I think the Colts are three and
zero, and when you’re three and
zero, you usually make the playoffs. Manti yeah they
usually make they usually make
the playoffs. But if they’re if the Tennessee Titans have a
shot at the playoffs, they got
to get Calvin Ridley going like Ayomanor out of Stanford has
been really, really dynamic for
them. You got to get Calvin Ridley going. Get that run game,
get that thing. If you want to
help your rookie cam Ward out, those are the things you have
to do. Well I got to go with
the Colts on this one because like you said, Jim Irsay
passing a lot of things
happened this offseason. It kind of bring you together when
tragedy hits sometimes. And I
feel like Shane Steichen is a great coach. I’ve been a part
of his his organization. I mean,
him being the coach. And I think they’ll win 2720. Yeah,
he’s got to score big all over
Shane Steichen. Last week it was last Friday we were in Mad
Minute and you were shouting
him out. So well done on that. Also last year, Kyle, the
Saints ran into the absolute
buzzsaw that was the Philadelphia Eagles in Week
three. So that is what the BG
led Eagles. All right the zero and two Texans. Speaking of the
AFC South looking to get their
first win against the Jaguars this week. BG you got the first
20s on Jags Texans if you
please. Well I got to go with them. Jaguars I think they’re
going to they definitely it’s
coming out real strong right now I really feel like they run.
The game is really good right
now with Etienne I don’t see it really changing this week. I
mean the Texans, they got a lot
of things on a lot of injuries, a lot of stuff going on and
they just got to figure it out.
But I think the Jaguars got this one. I’m ready for an
exclamation point from Travis
Hunter. We were promised a very special type of player. And
listen I know he’s two games
into his pro career. If you look last week he played a lot
on offense. He played a lot on
defense. It was kind of what we all wanted, and it really
didn’t amount to much. Like
there wasn’t a lot of production. There certainly
wasn’t any of the big game
changing plays. I get it, he’s a young, young, young player,
but I’m kind of ready. And in
this divisional game this would be a good time. Could we be
seeing a change of guard for
the running back position over there for New York, like with
Tyrone Tracy Jr and Cam. Cam is
starting to be oh what am I talking about. The Jags I don’t
know I can’t talk I don’t care
what the game is okay good good good I thought you were going
to go. Nick Chubb. Nick Chubb.
New York Giants. That’s it. He’s out next. Oh no. Next
train was coming. Get him out
of here. Hey hey hey. Producers got the next one was the Chiefs.
Giants take a lap tail under
the bus. Don’t do it. Take a lap Teo. Yeah, take a lap. Teo.
That was mad minute. He gone.
Oh, that’s it, it’s all right. Yeah. That’s it. Don’t worry.
We’re going to try again next
hour. Keep going. No no no, don’t. It’s not his fault. Oh,
two people went before me deep
into the Giants depth chart on Texans. Jaguars literally
compliments of the chef. Oh he
was so glad that he had will you take it next? It’s
time for who scores presented
by draft baby. Let’s take a look. Some anytime touchdown
odds for Sunday’s games Vikings
wide receiver Justin Jefferson to score at any time is plus
135. He’s facing his former
college teammate Ja’Marr Chase. The LSU Bowl I heard Jamar was
talking about he’s going to do
the gritty. If he scores and is he allowed to? He’s like, I’ll
do it just because it pisses
Justin off, which is funny. Chase is plus 130 to find the
end zone. That seemed pretty
solid. And another LSU Tiger another one. Look at that.
Malik Nabers is plus 145. We
need Odell on here. Someone we need all the guys hit all three
in a parlay. The odds are just
over plus 1200 at 1223. And here’s the most important thing
I’m going to tell you today
guys DraftKings sportsbook is the best place to bet
touchdowns this season. And
this week, new customers get $5 to get $200 in bonus bets
instantly and get over $200 off
NFL Sunday Ticket from YouTube TV. Download the app and use
promo code Gmfb when you sign
up. DraftKings sportsbook The Crown is yours. Cheri Burris
the floor is yours. Thank you.
And you teed me up perfectly. They’re already talking about
that Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr
Chase Griddy off, I guess if you want to call it. You’re
right. They played together at
LSU for two seasons. They won that national championship
along with Joe Burrow. Remember
that juggernaut team back in 2019? Well, Chase and Jefferson,
they are still really good
friends, and Jamar says he hopes he is able to do that
gritty celebration in front of
Justin. Listen, are you allowed to gritty in Minnesota in
Justin’s house? Is that allowed?
I mean, if he if he doesn’t want me to, I want to do it. I
mean, if he doesn’t want me to
do it, then I’m going to do it. No. Purposely. Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
I want to him off like any good
friends. He wants to do it because he doesn’t want him to
do it. We’re going to have to
see if one or both are able to break out the gritty and maybe
have a little gritty off in
front of each other. Now Carson Wentz he’s getting the start
for the Vikings in that game.
He’s had quite a journey to this point. Kyle’s already gone
through it. We’re going to get
Brandon’s thoughts on his former QB in Philly. What BG
has to say next. Stay with us.
Ever since we told Jason Kelce adopting a teen from foster
care. You can’t imagine the
reward. Visit adopt us kids. I’m sitting here with Brandon
Graham, a classic Philadelphia
Eagle. And earlier this week we were talking about Carson Wentz
who’s going to start for the
Vikings. Carson starting for his sixth team in six years.
It’s never happened in NFL
history. You were there. You were there 2016 2017 when
Carson was the future of the
franchise for the Eagles. What do you remember about him and
what do you make about this
journey he’s been on since then? Well, I’ll say he’s a baller.
He’s somebody that that can get
the job done. I just feel like now he’s been a journeyman.
He’s been out there going to
different teams and I know injury hurt him in the
beginning with us, but I feel
like I look at him as a Baker Mayfield type of situation
where Baker wasn’t doing good
with the Browns, and then he come back like he’s a
journeyman too. And then he
found a home. This might be an opportunity for Wentz right now
because J.J. McCarthy he got a
high ankle sprain I know exactly how that feels. And
that’s really four weeks away.
And Carson has a chance to rename and and get his name
back. You know in respects with
everybody else. So I’m excited to see what he does because he
really does have an opportunity
for for a couple weeks, do some things. We have we have 15
seconds and 2017 when he was
going to be the NFL MVP before he got hurt, could you have
ever imagined then five, six
teams later, he’s starting all over the country like that? No,
not at all. Then going to see
going to the Chiefs to he went to the Chiefs. Yes. I thought
he would at least been good
with Coach Reid. Yeah. Well we go get him this weekend. Carson
Brandon Graham’s a fan of yours.
We all are, I think. Here at Good morning. Football.
Presented by old trapper. Beef
jerky. Happy Friday, everybody September 19th. We are in the
midst of week three for the NFL
season. Jamie Erdahl, Manti Te’o, Kyle Brandt, Brandon
Graham. We’re branding it BG
Fridays and it fits when the Eagles have such a great
matchup ahead of the weekend.
But Kyle first we begin with Thursday Night Football. Is
there anything else you want to
observe this hour before we start the show? No, just I came
into the office this morning
and Brandon’s out in the lobby on a couch, like laid out like
this. Like, no morning TV is a
different deal because he flipped it now and he’s dialed
in. You’re feeling it? I’m
ready. Yeah. You should see this guy. It was brutal and
everything like that. Let’s
start the show. We got all kinds of things to talk about.
Did he sleep there? Yeah. Come
on. Welcome to Good Morning Football, presented by old
trapper. That’s right. Gmfb.
Everybody on a Friday. We’ve been loving this because
Brandon Graham is with us.
Jamie, Kyle, Manti and BG. Brandon, we saw you on the week
one game, the opener for
Philadelphia. And now I kind of want to check in on you
continuously like you’re a
brother of mine. How are you doing not playing and watching
the games. I’m like I really
want to just tune in on your emotional well-being. After 15
years with the helmet on, I
think it’s more of the pregame, the pregame before the game.
You get all that energy of
which, you know, the dreams of the plays you would have made
in the game or want to make in
the game. But once the game starts, I’m good. It’s just
more the pregame stuff. It’s
hard. It’s hard in the beginning. It’s definitely hard.
There’s a transition to going
on. Jamie Brandon will still like go hang at the facility.
Like, can we talk about this?
Yeah. Yeah. Like so there’s there’s two guys who are no
longer on the Eagles who still
just full on have a locker in the locker room. Who is it. Me
and Jason Kelce. And it’s
really interesting. And it’s a great great feeling because
they really want us in the
building. I’m thankful that I am still have the access to go
in because a lot of people
don’t. And I just try to make sure I’m just feeding off the
energy of what we talked about.
Miami need to be doing with with the guys. So I just I’m
excited. So you go into the
facility, maybe you get like a Caesar wrap and you get a lift
in when you walk in the hallway
past Howie. Is he like BG? Maybe we get a couple third
downs. We need a little rush.
Like, come on, he’s always working. Oh, he’s always
working. But he know he knows
where I’m at right now and he understands he’s seeing me
right now on good morning
football Howard. What’s up Ali. Bijay you still have your name
on a locker over there. Well,
I’m not in the team locker room. I’m in another locker room
where the staff and all them.
And we got. We got a locker. Me and Jason, me and Jay, and we
come in, we get our nice little
free food with them. And I go in and I talk with some guys.
Sometimes if I want to get a
massage, I can do that too. Oh, it’s all that good stuff. Call
the Chargers up real quick. All
right. While you’re doing that, that’s like a country club.
Like you have your own club
that you go that’s exactly right. Yeah. He has a country
club flip flops. Yeah. Club
Kyle it must be a great feeling. And the bills probably feel
that as well. However, let’s
check in on what happened Thursday Night Football because
the Dolphins they came to hang
in Buffalo. Yeah. Let’s do this. I want to tell a really
interesting story of one of the
bills players here. If you’ve seen the highlights already
Miami came to play. And you’re
going to see Josh Allen throw a shovel pass touchdown to
Jackson Haws. Jackson Haws is a
rookie. Really interesting journey. He’s from Salt Lake
City Manti he goes to Yale. He
was at Yale for five years through Covid and everything.
Yale for five years. Then he
transferred to Georgia Tech from the Ivy League. And they
drafted him in the fifth round
of this year’s draft. Really interesting. Now he’s catching
touchdowns on Thursday Night
Football. Jaylen Waddle he does the Waddle. It’s back I think
it went away for a while James
Cook got paid. Looks excellent James Cook to me right now
through three weeks. Looks like
a top three running back in the league I’m talking purely
running the ball. I don’t know
if there’s many guys doing it better than him. 2114 though.
Tua keeping them in it. Miami
really does not want to go zero and three. Mike McDaniel has
never been zero and two. He is
already Tyreek touchdown stuck it. All right. So fireworks
gymnastics and then this. We’ll
talk about this in the first hour. Bad teams do bad plays in
big games. You are fighting the
bills 2121. And you run into the kicker. That is an easy
call. It’s not even running
into it’s roughing. You extend the drive. And when you extend
the drive, you know damn well
this is happening. This is Khalil Shakir who is quick as
all get out. He gets in and
they’re just going to pay for it. That is Zach Sieler who
made the penalty. And then Tua
has a chance to kind of be a hero. They go down the field
and then bam Terrel Bernard see
you later. Warm up the busses. Say hi to Florida for us. Leave
our stadium where you have
never beaten Josh Allen since he entered the league in 2018.
Mike McDaniel. This was not the
end of days loss that some thought it might be, but who
cares? They’re professionals.
It was a loss they lost by double digits zero and three,
three and zero. Let’s hear from
both quarterbacks. You know we’re obviously doing our job
going one and zero each week.
Still a lot to learn from and a lot to grow a lot of room for
growth in this in this group a
lot of young guys. But guys are stepping up. There’s been some
guys down with injuries and
guys are stepping up and making some big time plays for us,
especially on the defensive
side of the ball. No more victories, that’s for sure.
There’s definitely some things
that we can take away that is good. That’s up to par within
our standard of how we operate
within the offense. And then, you know, with with how the
defense wants to operate as
well, getting the stops when they get those stops, we got to
capitalize on that and allow
ourselves to get points. You know, shout out to Mike
Garafolo. He was on our show
yesterday, and we were kind of leaning into this narrative
that this thing wasn’t going to
go well for the Dolphins. The bills were going to walk all
over him and he’s like, hold up
the Dolphins go to Buffalo. And usually they give the bills a
game. And that’s exactly what
we saw. And a lot of it had to do with the defensive effort
from Miami. Yeah the defensive
effort for Miami. But let’s talk offensive. And I thought
they did everything they needed
to do to win that game. Miami’s offense I’m referring to now
the defense guys there. It’s
hard to win in this league. It’s hard to beat the better
teams in this league like the
Buffalo Bills. And it’s almost impossible when you beat
yourself. Now there are two
plays that happened yesterday, one roughing the kicker and one
unnecessary roughness. And if
you look at the two individuals that did it, I know this is a
hard situation, but look at the
patch that they have on their jerseys. Guys, these are
captains Zach Sieler, our
captain. He’s been that way for the past couple of years.
Jordan Brooks, a captain like
these aren’t guys that are just reserves. These are guys that
as a coach, you put in front of
your team and say, hey, do it this way. But then when they’re
acting this way and making
these type of penalties and, and doing these types of things,
it’s just it’s a reflection of
what’s going on over there on the defensive side compared to
what the bills did. Like Josh
Allen has a C, Bernard has the C Terrell Bernard he he he
seals the game with that pick.
So you look at the the contrast between the two teams. That’s
what I look at. And that’s what
I think was the biggest difference in this game last
night for both teams. Yeah I
mean the Dolphins right now they’re zero three. They’re
completely floundering. And
we’re all kind of impressed that they lost by ten points.
The Dolphins are not really
going anywhere right now that the bills are just exactly
where you want them to be. The
three and zero guys their next two games are at home against
the Saints and the Patriots.
And it’s just it’s reminding me of what the Patriots of the Tom
Brady era would do. It’s just
complete mastery over your own division. We keep waiting for
these Jets and Dolphins and
Patriots to load up and compete with Buffalo, who is stacking t
shirts in the division. It’s
just not happening. They destroyed New York last week.
They beat Miami pretty easily.
I’m not really threatened at all if you’re a bills fan by
New England. And so you look at
the bills and you look at them through this, this lens of all
right, AFC playoffs, Baltimore,
Kansas City, whoever is going to be there. It’s just that’s
all you can say about Buffalo
right now other than stay healthy. They have Josh Allen
who Josh Allen last night
reminded me of of Rogers in his MVP type seasons where
everything looks so easy. It’s
just every time Allen drops back, you think something’s
good going to happen. And it
almost always does. There’s very few negative plays, very
few missed throws. It’s just so
efficient and so easy. And if you look at the schedule like
what game jumps out at you as
like, oh baby, that’s going to be a test. You don’t even need
to pull it up. I mean, Tampa
Bay week 11 a 1:00 kickoff. That’s eight weeks from now. I
just they’re going to coast.
They’re going to try to stay healthy. And they’re not
healthy. By the way, Ed Oliver
and Matt Milano are two of their most important players.
And they’re still just kind of
coasting. So this is maybe the first, second or third best
team in the NFL. And you just
keep on getting wins. You try to stay healthy. And is this
the year that’s there’s not a
lot of takes about Buffalo other than that right now
Brandon Graham unless you see
something I don’t know. They won the turnover margin right
now. That’s the biggest thing
right there. When you’re not giving up the ball and you’re
taking away the ball, you’re
going to always end up winning at the always in the be in a
good position by the end of the
season. But I know that Buffalo has a big task, and that’s
beating those Chiefs and
getting in that game, the big game. And I know that they got
to focus like no other. And you
already you see it on display right now BG what an assist you
just gave me. Because what you
look at that we got to talk about the Chiefs Giants Sunday
Night Football game. All right.
So the bills sit at three and zero and it’s inevitable you’re
going to discuss Kansas City at
least on the AFC side of things. When you are considering what
Buffalo is trying to do on that
side with the Ravens, the Bengals what have you, you got
to go through the Chiefs.
However they’re limping. They’re zero and two. And man
say they are going to play a
Sunday Night Football game in New York against the Giants
team. That’s zero and two.
However we saw a different kind of beast from the Big Blue last
weekend against Dallas. Yes we
did. There’s a beast that we have yet to see though. Jamie
his name is Jalen Hyatt. Now
Jalen Hyatt came out of Tennessee. He’s a vertical
threat a true vertical threat.
And we haven’t seen him yet. And so that’s kind of my where
I’m trying to figure out where
is he at. Because I think how they’re using Wan’dale Robinson
and Malik Nabers I thought that
Jalen Hyatt would be the guy to take the top off the defense.
Wan’dale Robinson is five eight,
185 pounds a jitterbug. He’s more of a prototypical slot guy,
where then you can have Malik
Nabers and him do his thing. But that was a dynamic in the
wide receiver position that I
thought I have yet to see for Russell Wilson, for Russell
Wilson to go over the top,
because I think that opens up everything for Malik Nabers
because right now you saw last
week they’re using Malik Nabers in so many different types of
ways. And I don’t know if you
use him that many times in those ways, how it’s going to
play out in the long term of
this season. So KB that when I look at this, this New York
Giants team, that’s how I see
that wide receiver room. Specifically, I see it as one
of the biggest Giants games in
the last couple of years. I used the word earlier in the
week with all of us as an
opportunity. The Giants have not only done a lot of losing
over the last two years, they
really, really have a tough time at home and they don’t put
on a good home product and it’s
been very disappointing. This is such a big deal here because
not only are you trying to
avoid going zero and three, if Brian Daboll and Russell Wilson
and all of these players they
put together can win on national television from their
home fans against the Chiefs
and ignite a nuclear fire across the media. Of the Chiefs
being zero and three, that is
the coolest win they have had since Daniel Jones won a
playoff game for Brian Daboll.
This is a big, big deal. Now I see it as very possible. It’s
all right there for them. They
have weapons. The Chiefs aren’t playing well. I think I
mentioned to you guys this week
I did a little bit of New York media, New York exclusive media,
and it’s just so interesting. I
bring up this idea that, I don’t know, this is a good
chance for the Giants. Maybe
they can pull this one out. And the New York is like, no, no,
this is the get right game for
the Chiefs. They’re going to come in to MetLife and stomp
all over the Giants. And
there’s this sort of self-loathing we’re bleeding.
And it’s better thing going on
in New York. I don’t see that with Daboll. I don’t see that
Russell Wilson I don’t see that
with the defense. Go and win this game. Win this game. You
have a very beatable Chiefs
team. Send them to zero and three. Make it about you. The
most predictable and most
boring thing that could happen is that the Giants hang around
for two quarters, and then
Mahomes does some nonsense where he runs down the sideline
and moves the chains and beats
the Giants. Beat them. You have it in them. They’re not great
right now. You are fully
capable of scoring enough points to beat them. Can you
just do it? I’ve been sitting
here for ten years waiting for the Giants and Jets to do
anything, is it not? Is it too
much to ask to go to one and two to win a game at home in
prime time against a winless
team? Please go win. This game would be way more interesting
than you. Just fall on your
face again. Brandon, what do you think? Well, you’re going
to have to wait till the next
week. Damn it. Like the Chiefs is going to get back on top,
get back on top. And I feel
like it’s coming down to coaching right here. The Chiefs
haven’t really established the
running game and I think that they established it this week
because of how the defense
played against Dallas last week. And it wasn’t a good showing
for both teams in Dallas and
the Giants. And so I think that with what the Chiefs, their
defense, the defensive minds of
Spags and and then you got coach Coach Reid wanting to get
that first win of the year. I
think they get their running game started against them. And
then it’ll open up a lot more
things for Patrick Mahomes. And the hurt hurt wide receiver
corps that he does have. I
think Travis Kelce will have a big one in this one. And on top
of that, with Pacheco getting
in the mix this year, you know I’m not going to pretend like I
know what goes on in the
scheduling rooms of the NFL when they pick and choose how
to televise the games,
especially early in the season. But Kyle, it does fascinate me
that the powers, the brass said,
you know, week three, we’re going to send the Chiefs to the
Giants and put them on Sunday
Night Football, because there are crazy stats out there that
say, like the Sunday Night Crew
hasn’t seen two winless teams, I think in like 50 years or
something. It’s a crazy world
right now, but I know there’s always something there with
Chiefs. That’s the allure. But
there must have been some buy in from the NFL to think that,
you know, week three, I think
this thing, something about the Giants is going to be working
to put them on national
television. Yeah. Well I think maybe they were booking on a
certain rookie quarterback
would already be starting. And that might be interesting or
Jameis or any of those guys. So
maybe not I don’t know. But listen the schedule makers,
everybody on NBC, I think a
Giants win would be pretty cool. Maybe I’m in the minority on
this and maybe I’m coming
across as chiefs chiefs hating. I root for whatever is the most
interesting. And you know, 30
to 20 chiefs is not interesting at all. For the love of God,
New York don’t go zero and
three. This is one of the few opportunities that you’ve been
given by the schedule makers to
really make an impact. Go get them. Don’t listen to Brandon
Graham about the Chiefs running
game. The hell with that. I want to see about your running
game. Come on BBG, BGG Chiefs
let him go. No East Chiefs going three is fascinating.
Giants going three who cares?
BG one final question for you. As you were coming in the
building this morning, you were
talking about how, you know, you still have a locker in the
Eagles building and that’s is
there still a locker in that in that studio for that, says
Schrager on the tape or
anything like that? BG have you seen that anywhere? Does Kyle
still keep that up there? I’m
sure he has access. I’m sure he’s still got the code to get
in. And the people downstairs
don’t let him in. As soon as he walks through the building he’s
just going to draft in behind
Kyle into the building. All right. Thanks everybody. That
was great to get to look at one
from last night and one from Sunday night. Until then
there’s a lot of business in
between. Tom Pelissero, welcome back to our NFL network insider
with us. Jayden Daniels lot to
look out for the commanders. They’ve been playing all right.
But they want to know truly
what’s going on with their second year quarterback Jayden
Daniels dealing with a knee
sprain. Jamie did not practice the past two days, however,
their door is still cracked at
least a little bit open for Daniels. Potentially to play on
Sunday against the Raiders.
Today is really the key date because coach Dan Quinn has
said Daniels needs to practice
in order to play, he said they’ll be extremely cautious
with him and he’s only going to
be out there if he’s full. Go commanders practice at 11 a.m.
eastern today. If Daniels is
out there again, that would keep the hope alive of him
potentially playing. As of now,
it seems to be trending towards Marcus Mariota getting the
start against one of his former
teams, the Raiders, on Sunday. Meanwhile, in San Francisco,
quarterback Brock Purdy limited
in practice the past few days as he makes his way back from
toe and left shoulder injuries.
It’s the toe that’s the main, the the main issue. It’s a
variation of a turf toe type of
a thing, not nearly as severe as the one that required
surgery for Joe Burrow, but
painful nonetheless. Purdy did strike an optimistic tone when
he spoke to reporters after
practice, saying he wants to play, but he needs to be smart
with his body and we’ll see how
he’s feeling come game time. That would suggest that,
perhaps after being ruled out
last week, Mac Jones starting and getting the win against the
Saints, maybe Purdy could be
listed as questionable. The team also is going to have to
exert their own opinions and
caution when it comes to Purdy’s status here. It will be
telling this afternoon to see
exactly what they designate Purdy as. If he can’t go, it’ll
be Mac Jones getting another
start in a really big game in the NFC West against the two
and zero Cardinals on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Packers had a scare with one of their
breakout players. Tight end
Tucker Kraft left yesterday’s practice after suffering a knee
injury. He underwent various
tests. My understanding, our understanding is that this is
not a major injury. It is being
categorized right now as a tweak. So that’s the good news.
Tucker Kraft, who had a huge
performance against the commanders, should be back soon
the less. The good news is, his
status is at least a little bit clouded for Sunday against the
Browns. It’s going to depend
how he wakes up feeling today, whether he’s got swelling,
whether there’s anything else
that plays out here. He’s a young player who’s a big piece
of what the Packers do. So I
would imagine Jamie, as the Packers history has shown they
will be conservative with this
injury. We’ll see if he’s back on the practice field today.
That would certainly be a good
sign. He’ll be ready to roll on Sunday. Absolutely. Tom, I got
a quick follow for you, and
forgive me for making it sound like I have a personal interest,
but I think Vikings fans or the
NFL would because the Vikings sit in a very interesting
situation right now. Of course,
J.J. McCarthy has that high ankle sprain, but the Vikings
are about to engage in
something never done before in the NFL. They’re going to go to
Dublin, then they’re going to
go to London. Back to back games in Europe. Now the high
ankle sprain conversation, as
you all have reported, is oftentimes 2 to 4 weeks. Have
you heard anything from the
Vikings about does J.J. make that trip? Does he go with the
team for the full two weeks?
Because everyone’s going to be there from the medical staff,
but I can’t imagine that’s
great for a bad wheel. There’s a variety of complications here,
Jamie, and it’s a really good
point. I’ve talked to some NFL doctors over the past several
days who are less concerned
about swelling or anything else, versus just the rehab process
that J.J. McCarthy is going
through, and the way that an international trip potentially
could disrupt that. I would say
if J.J. McCarthy does travel with the team, that would be a
sign that he’s further ahead in
his rehab process than maybe they were anticipating. Right
now, obviously, it’s going to
be Carson Wentz on Sunday against the Bengals. If I had
to lean to week four, I would
certainly lean toward it being Wentz again against the
Steelers in Dublin here. But
McCarthy from everything that I have been told and what Kevin
O’Connell has said publicly is
progressing, he’s still in a walking boot. He’s around the
team, he’s in meetings, but
he’s not close to getting back and actually beginning to start
moving around out on the field
again. That’s a process that does take time. And also
remember this after the game in
Dublin against the Steelers and the game against the Browns in
London, the Vikings have their
bye. So in essence, if you wanted to give JJ an entire
month off, he would only miss
three games to do that. They’ve not put him on injured reserve
likely for that reason, which
is if you’re on IR, you have to miss a minimum of four games.
If he’s able to get healthy in
a month, he would be able to miss only three and get back on
the field for, you know, a real
easy game there in week seven against the defending Super
Bowl champion Eagles. Cool.
Thanks, Tom. Appreciate you. Speaking of the NFL
international games, they
return to NFL network. As we mentioned September 28th it’s
Vikings Steelers in Dublin
Ireland. The show Gmfb will be there. I’ll be standing in the
middle of a square. I’m going
to meet some fans. It’s going to have open mic night. There’s
going to be there’s some
popular dark drink over there that people are just raving
about it. To me, it starts at 7
a.m. eastern on game day, kickoff only on NFL network,
and you can stream it on NFL
plus. I’m working with the Fox crew, Joe Davis, Greg Olsen,
Pam Oliver for that one, which
would be really cool. Week three underway though it’s off
to a great start. We’ve been
talking about that Dolphins Bills game. But let’s move the
needle shall we. Playoff
rematch is happening. Rams Eagles we got BG in the house
Kyle. So we have to pick his
brain about that one man. They almost knocked you guys out in
this game. They had you dude.
They did. They had you. And then Jalen Carter said nah
that’s enough. What’s it like
watching this. Oh man it feels great watching it. There he
goes. Good memories. Other than
I wasn’t out there. Rematch. If anybody needs Brandon will be
in his country club in
Philadelphia later this afternoon. It’s called the
Novacare Center. We’re talking
all the games after this. Don’t go anywhere. It’s Gmfb on a
Friday. Good Morning Football
is presented by And we’ll remind him of that
every day. Take pride in
winning. However we need to win. And then we go back to work
again. We find a way again. We
repeat again and again and again. Hertz has time takes off.
Jalen Hertz, is this a great
challenge? You’re damn right it is. What I respect about them
is they play the game on their
terms. The whole world knows what they’re doing. It doesn’t
matter. I have so much respect
for coach McVay. I think you see it with the detail that his
team plays with. Sneaks in on
his feet. Touchdown. You know he can beat you with his arm
legs or his mind. He started
the run and he’s a winner. Touchdown Jalen Hurts Puka is a
big strong physical guy. He’s
on his feet. Puka is gone. They got good running backs. They
got good tight ends. It’s
Devonte. It’s a touchdown. You know they’ve gotten after us.
They’ve gotten the results that
they wanted through the snow. Let’s go swing and see what
happens. I don’t think there’s
a greater representation of the opposite end of the spectrum
for energy brought to the
podium than those two coaches, Nick Sirianni and Sean McVay.
Great respect. But you know,
they always bring the juice when their teams play on the
field. It’s Rams Eagles. It’s a
rematch from the NFC divisional round last season BG I know you
were not able to participate.
Pads on helmet on in that game due to your injury that you
were actively trying to recover
from to be on the field for the Super Bowl. However, can you
take us back to that atmosphere
and what it was like that day? Oh, it was it wasn’t snowing at
the time before it started. But
so it was it was cool. It was a nice day. Great, great day to
play some ball. And I just
remember how electric it was. Like that’s the part that gets
me the pregame. That’s what
hurts the most because you just are you just trying to be there.
But I just remember it being
electric at the Linc. I feel it’s going to be the same way
this week. All right. So the
Eagles have handled their business against the Rams. The
last two times out was a week
12 win and the divisional round win. How is this thing going to
go this weekend as we look
ahead though these two coaches love
each other great respect for
how the rosters are built. Manti. But you look at this
game what do you think is going
to get done. Well I don’t know BG I don’t know BG we was there
Thursday night bro. And we saw
CeeDee lamb start to go off a little bit. Obviously they have
CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens,
but they’re not Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. And if we
learned anything in the past
two weeks it’s Puka Nacua still puka. But boy last week Davante
Adams went off and it’s just
starting and it’s just beginning. And when you start
implementing Kyren Williams
into that category BG you know this as a defender bro. It is.
It is a conundrum and a dilemma.
That’s not a lot of defenses like to be in. If there is a
defense that could do it it
could be Philly. However missing guys like BG, missing
guys like Darius Slay. I think
that’s what we learned in week one. BG was Darius Slay not
being out there? There was
there was a whole other opposite of Quinyon Mitchell.
There was just this hole. Now
when you have two big dogs in Puka Nacua and Davante Adams,
it’s going to be a dynamic and
it’s going to be a situation that I’m going to keep my eyes
on. KB because again, I do like
the LA Rams. I have them playing in the Super Bowl in my
prediction. And it’s because of
this offense. It’s a big deal. Well listen we all want
Brandon’s thoughts on this.
Mine are just simple as that. In this game Saquon went nuts.
He went absolutely nuts. And
what other what other Rams going to do about Saquon. What
are they. What is McVay. What
is the entire defensive staff going to do to make sure that
Saquon is not hitting 6070 yard
bombs like he was the last time? I mean this game is like the
NFL films bowl. You put it in
super slow motion. You put the classical music in. Saquon runs
through the snow and they beat.
They beat the Rams. What’s different this time. How is
this not going to happen I
think they’re going to be fully committed to it. And that’s why
I want to talk to Brandon about
this. All right. We all know Jalen Hurts passing numbers.
Who cares. We’ve said it
ourselves I’m interested in AJ Brown. Yep. Interesting guy
incredibly talented guy. The
numbers are very modest through two weeks. Week one he was not
a factor. Week two he caught
some balls but very very small little short yardage stuff. We
know that the sky is a little
bit unique. The books on the sideline, he wants to
contribute. He wants to be part
of it. Could this be the AJ Brown game? And if not like you
played with a lot of wide
receivers, when does it get to the point where they’re like,
what am I doing here, man, I’m
here to make plays. I’m not allowed to make plays. And are
the Eagles at risk of that in
this game three weeks into the season? I’m glad you said that
because I know Saquon has ran
over 500 yards in the two games that they’ve played, and so I
know that that’s going to be
priority number one. So this is the time right now where the
passing game definitely could
take off with AJ getting involved and Devonte Smith. And
then you got Goddard back
hopefully this week. And and I feel like Jalen Will well he’s
a winner. He’s going to he’s
going to come up with the game plan and he’s going to execute
the game plan. And I feel like
this is where we get our passing game on track, because
they are going to load the box
against Saquon because of all that happened when they played
the last last year, the two
games. And so they want to prove that that’s not the case
no more. And so now this is
where I feel the the passing game and Jalen comes out. Just
what y’all want to see. Like
what he did last time against Pittsburgh last year when we
didn’t do so good against
Carolina the game before. And so I think it’ll be the same
type of thing. But like I like
what Monty said we have I want to see how the defense plays
and how Vick calls the game,
and we got to make sure we get pressure on Matt Stafford. Tell
me about AJ specifically
because I, I’ve always been a huge fan of his. I thought he
was like the next coming of T.O.
Like it’s just so good. Yeah. Got to get him involved. Why
wouldn’t you want to get him
involved? Like tell me about the kind of guy he is. And what
do you see from him in this
situation man AJ he he works hard. Him Devonte all the guys
on offense especially that
receiving corps. They got a good they got a good bond.
Jahan Dotson them guys. They
put the work in. And I know that it gets frustrating at
times. But I know that he’s
going to be there when when his name is called and he’s going
to show up in a big way because
he’s a big guy. Megatron I would just say like Megatron
type body, you know, not as
tall, but but you know, somebody that’s out there
towering over some of those DBS
that be out there and stronger for real. So what I would say
is just make sure that you
you’re doing your doing your job. And when your name get
called, be there like he always
does. And I feel he’s going to be he’s going to be great with
that. Right now. It’s just you
can’t buy into all the talks of man the passing game, this
passing game that because your
time coming and it’s about to come up this week fascinates me
for a lot of reasons. One of
which is Kyle. You referenced this a lot with how the
schedule is made, and there are
certain teams that you put, you know, on your dashboard, if you
will, of the football season
that you might not care about what they’re doing, how they’re
conducting their business until
December, because you kind of know what they’re going to be
about in January. Sometimes I
felt this about Ravens, bills and this one as well. This
almost feels too early for me
to have some kind of gut check feeling about the Rams or the
Eagles. So, Kyle, when you
consider how this game could go this weekend, it’s going to be
fun to watch. And it might be
informative, but is it really going to tell you much about
what we think about these teams
in week 15 through 18? I think it will tell us a lot about the
Eagles in particular. I do
everyone just waiting for them. Do they have a weakness? Are
they just going to do this
thing again? And I think what Brandon is saying is really
interesting is that we keep
waiting and Jalen hurts to show us different sides, and he
picks the spots to do it. But
in the entertainment quotient, Jamie, there is an awesome
factor in this and we all love.
And Brandon, this guy is like cut from your same cloth Jared.
Verse is going back to
Philadelphia. And if we remember what happened last
time, he was out there holding
court on the field in the Linc waving to fans. Remember this
this this is back in January.
Shirt off. Exchanging pleasantries. I can’t even
imagine what those Eagles fans
were yelling at him. But are we getting a repeat of this? And
Brandon, what do you remember
and what do you think when you see this? Because I feel like
he’s got some Graham in him a
little bit. Oh yeah, he’s asking for it. We all I’m
always asking for. And so it’s
all about showing up. And one thing I will say verse has
showed up. Both guys have
showed up in a big way. And but not this week because you got
Lane and Jordan Mailata are put
them on stilts and the boy’s going to be standing straight
up after he to get hit. Is that
right? So I can’t wait. Can’t wait to watch it. Can’t wait to
watch it. You know, verse may
have felt like he could get away with that behavior,
because that is an all
Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference honors football
player right there. Okay. He is
born and bred. He played high school football in Bloomsburg,
I believe it was so like he may
have known a thing or two about how to conduct his business,
but like BG says, it’s up until
he gets put on stilts. I guess whenever BG says them boys, I’m
like, okay, here we go. What
are we going to hear from BG about the Eagles and boys? 31
other teams? That means
different things. And then BG says it’s about the Eagles. All
right Rams Eagles. We’re going
to see who remains undefeated after week three. We’re moving
on on Gmfb on a Friday guys. We
still have another crack at Mad Minute Manti I’m going to make
sure you know the order of the
games before we get there. I got to use these instead of
these guys. Use these

  1. The schedules are predetermined. Nobody gave Buffalo their schedule. You act like they have a full cupcake schedule, but you seem to be leaving out the fact that they play both super bowl teams and all of the best teams as well. They already dispatched of the Ravens, but they still have the Chiefs and the eagles etc. They also had the Bengals and the Texans but obviously those games don't look as daunting with recent developments.

I said prior to the season that the bills would finish 15 – 2 and I stand by that.

  2. Bills schedule has some tough games, but all of them are at home.. Ravens, Chiefs, Eagles, Bengals (Burrow maybe back)…
Texans is only team which won the division is on the road

  3. The Bills held a players only meeting in 2023 and won 6 of their last 8, including their last 5 games, which included wins against KC, DAL and LAC.

  4. I'm a bills fan thst wzst roughing the punter like seriously he went fir the blk and it ws after the punt ws gone it ws a good game all round these calls are a joke it's football great division win

  5. BG finna get his own show hes SUCH a big happy personality AND his sack locked up our 1st ever Lombardi…dont take it for granted just cuz we be goin to and winning SB's recently…for 50 yrs we didnt…savor it.

  6. i talk to nate burleson here and there nots o much now that hes big time haha but BG is a great replacement for a player on the show thats upbeat and brings football IQ AND energy

  7. BG needs an even bigger platform hes just good vibes all day and great football exp and IQ when a LOT of former players werent THAT level of great in their prime (Burleson, Teo, Orlovsky, Hasslebeck etc)
