Kicking off a new weekly series: New Shoe Day.
I already ran 20 miles out of the box in the Asics Sonic Blast, but today I wanted to see how they handled faster paces during a speed workout.
Follow along each Wednesday as I test new shoes from road to trail.

Hey, it’s your old pal Steve from Runore here. I got a chance to try the new AS6 Sonic Blast. I actually wanted to make this video on my first run in it, but I cheated and I took these out for a 20-m long run this past Saturday out of the box. Hadn’t tried them on. Took them to the rail trail. Had a lovely experience with them. Felt great through a variety of paces. But today, I was doing 6x,000 and I wanted to try them on something that was a little bit shorter with a little faster turnover. I’ve run in all of the blasts from AS6, from the Super to the Nova to the Mega, and I have to say, I like stuff that’s not overly cushioned. I find myself to be, I don’t know, offbalance in them. And this shoe feeling like a little bit lower of a stack height, and that plastic plate that they have in there, it worked for my foot. It allowed me to run more of my style and less of feeling like this shoe that’s trying to make me run different. I very much enjoyed it. The price point is great for $180. Honestly, I would say right now one of my favorite shoes I’ve run in this year and I’m looking for a shoe to run a marathon in in a few weeks and this right now is like the leader in the clubhouse. I think I want to try something that’s not a carbon plated shoe just because I’ve been dealing with an injury just to see how that feels. But right now, I’m very impressed with this shoe. One of my favorites of the year, the AS6 Sonic Blast out now.
