Rahm’s club didn’t touch it—but the ball still moved. That’s all it took 👀
Rahm got caught into a little bit of a weird rules calling, if you will. The club goes down and the ball moves an almost unseeably insignificant amount, but the player still calls the rules official over and they discuss it. What made this one particularly interesting was the fact that when he put his club down behind the ball, the ball rolled away from his club. He says, “Gravity would say like the laws of gravity don’t matter in the rules of golf.” And when he kept trying to move it back, it kept oscillating back to where it went to. Officials ruled that Rahm did cause the ball to move by grounding his club. He was assessed a one-stroke penalty under rule 9.4B. I fully support the officials decision there because it was for John

Golf is so dumb
The definition of oscillating means “move or swing back and forth at a regular speed”.
The ball was either rolling or moving but saying that it was oscillating is a bridge too far.
