Eric Trump tells Irish Government: ‘Give Doonbeg the same level of State investment as JP McManus’s Ryder Cup’

Eric Trump, the son of US President Donald Trump, has hit out at what he described as Ireland’s “incredibly lethargic” planning system.

In an exclusive interview with the Sunday Independent, Eric Trump made the criticism as he called on the Government to commit to investing in the west of Ireland ahead of the Irish Open, which will be held at his family’s hotel, the Trump International Golf Links & Hotel Doonbeg next September.

Mr Trump is calling for multi-million euro levels of investment to match what the Government is putting in to supporting the Ryder Cup, which will be held at Adare Manor in Limerick in 2027.
