Please anywhere. Yeah. Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the 2025 Putsy Senior Classic. Um, we’ve just reached the last eight stage and the first game of the last eight has gone onto the green now with Jack Clark versus Dave Cowzel. Jack leading out at 5 nil. We’ve currently got one game from the last 16 still on the green, which is Richard Jackson versus Paul Ingelby. I’ll quickly give you an update from the top half, just because the bottom half isn’t complete as yet. Um, in the first round, Dave Cowell beat South Yorkshire’s Andy Ssby 2113. Second round, Dave Cowell then beat Phil Smith of Click Heaton and Ben Victoria 2116 and obviously now plays Jack. Jack in his first game come away victorious 219 versus Graham Hurst and in his second game had a bit of a tough game with Nikki Jers coming away 2116 Victor. In the other games that will be entering the green as we speak, Tony Stevens will now play Ernie Wearing. Um, and in Tony’s first game, he beat Mali Fowler of Bradford 2114. Then he beat Dave Walker in one of the best games of the day thus far, 2120 in a bit of an epic. And Ernie Wearing beat Dave Scott of Silsden 2111. and then Clive Chapman of Manchester 215 in the last 16. So the top half games are as follows. Dave Castle versus Jack Clark and Tony Stevens from Pointton versus Ernie Wearing of Sheffield. I’ll give the bottom half update as and when uh Paul Ingby versus Richard Jackson finishes, but for now we will focus on Dave Castle versus Jack Clark with Dave leading out 5-1 behind. We’ll also have Mark Alman on the coms with me um during this this particular round. Once Dave and Jack are finished, we’ll then focus on probably one of the one of the other games in the bottom half as and when that is confirmed. Most likely to be Tommy Johnson versus uh the winner of Richard Jackson and Paul Ingelby. Good afternoon, Mark. Good afternoon, Stuart. Unfortunately, a first round loss for you today, Mark, but yeah. Um who’s caught your eye today with uh performance thus far? Uh probably have to go with with Tommy Johnson. The obvious choice really. Still a big player playing at a good level. Tommy a 9-2 chance before before the off. He just Yeah. Well, demolished the self-confessed number one crook in the game. Gray Mickey. Yeah, even the odd even V couldn’t sort Flicker out. Yeah, V not helpful for Flicker in that game. Tommy John out a really comfortable winner. But but Tommy’s still playing at a good level on the panel and always been a class act for years. He’s a he’s a class above Tommy when he’s on it when he’s on one of those few players in this field that have probably got the stamina to play five games possibly. So hopefully the knee holds out for Tony cuz I think we’ve both backed him, haven’t we? We have l he’s got the curse the commentator’s curses and if anybody can a loser it’s me and you. Absolutely true. Um but he’s certainly my pick for the day. I’ve I’ve I’ve watched Dave Councel as well a little bit today and I think he’s playing quite consistent saying that look he’s just played one four yard over with his lead ball. So that’s the curse again. Yeah, it’s the curse. Tommy’s no chance. But yeah, you know this should be a good game really with Jack Clark because they’re both Jack’s consistent. It certainly will. the uh in his previous game, Jack was um somewhat struggling um with with Nikki Jers’s left hand at one stage. Yeah. Um professed to me he couldn’t follow the jack. Um to which I responded just throw it straight at it and he got in funnily enough. Well, Nick is very under still, you know, he’s a little bit underrated. He’s got a game in him and he’s got he’s got certainly got the green knowledge up here, you know, he’s played it a lot of times. I think he played here many years ago and so he might have fancied it against Jack, you know. Yeah, he certainly did fancy at one point or another. Jack getting out with a good run the last few ends and 16 may not look a close don’t really reflect the the uh the closeness of the game really. I thought I thought at one point Nikki may just have had him on a bit wobbling a bit, didn’t he? He certainly did. Um we’ll just run through the bottom half scores. I’ve not confirmed the last 16 scores as yet. Um but Nigel Cranson’s just beat Keith Rdman 2119. Um he beat Ian Ross of Sheffield 219 in the first game with Keith Rdman um dismissing somewhat last year’s winner Mark Rean halfway up in the 11 hole. Yeah, he played a lot of stuff against Reggie like you know 20 m round peg played him near did play him near and then didn’t play so well game after. I think he’ll he’ll he’ll he’ll finally think that got away. The one that got away there, Rudders. I think he was fully in control of that game. And somehow Nigel’s and he thought it was going well, won’t he? Yep. Nigel Nigel came off for a drink and some might say it’s an old Gates trick. Ah, yes. Well, you don’t you don’t get to the senior level, the senior level, and not have a few tricks up your sleeve. Um but yeah, RE will feel like that one got away I think a little bit there. Um yeah, there’s a few Streetwise characters here today. Oh, not half, not half. Their their box of tricks is a big one. Well, there’s a there’s been a few people watching. You know, there’s been a good crowd. There still is a decent crowd. A lot of people have stayed. Uh I think it’s a good concept. I really do. I think it’s something different for the game. That’s exactly right. Exactly. I’m just up and coming at this level now. 60 year old. I know. I know. Hollers, you’re knocking on the door. I’ve got a You burst onto the vet scene. To the vet scene. Didn’t go so well today though, Wallers, did it? Well, you get used to that, Stuart. You get used to that. Brilliant to it. Brilliant. Um, just the the other games of the first first and second rounds in the bottom half. Ashley Dacin dipped out 2119 to Paul Gil of Bradford and Paul Gil has just come off against Steven Heg and lost not sure what score about 2117 2118ish but Steven H has beaten Paul Gil as we said earlier Tommy Johnson beat Flicker and Paul Ingelby Pauling’s just come off there is one point getting some information off the bookie there. Cranston 12 Ding has just beaten Richard Jackson of Sheffield in his second game having beaten Paul Boss in his first 2113 and Richard Jackson had one of the better games or one of the best games first round against John Benson 2120. So that last eight um will be Tommy Johnson versus Paul Ingelby, Steven Hey versus Nigel Cranston and the two games we currently got on the green. Jack Clark five a piece with Dave Cowell and Ernie Wearing just gone on with Tony Stevens and Tony is leading 1 nil in the corners. So we’ll focus on the Jack Clark game 5-nil to five a piece. It’s um not the best start to now what he could perceive as having the momentum. Alice. Yeah. Yeah. He’s got to play good in here to tighten this end up. Douge he’s going inside that bowl now. Is he off the green? Stop now. Yes, he’s gone. He’s gone. Not a good on here. Jack will look to catch. Jack will be wanting to go. He’ll probably come down into one of these two corners. Will Jack if he gets in? Turned his peg. It’s not short either. No, this is off green. That’s a bad ball. Oh, Jack’s berating himself already. It’s not a good ball. 65. Bit of a momentum if I could for Douggee. Yeah, but he is on the 4 second round scores for those who need them. Castle 21. You would have thought Jack Clark, you would have thought he’ll want to come a long way now. Stevens 21. If that was Jack’s game usually or it was when it when he made his debut in 1875 the county. There we go. Look. Yeah. Still sending him to the moon. Loves to send us old Jack. So the game plays now have Nigel Canston and Steven Hag. A finger peg. Just a bit of a tricky little tricky little piece this but all right looks to have led one somewhat here. This won’t be a bad. It won’t be the last, will it? You would have thought it’s not a bad. Not a bad. Not a bad Dougy’s ball coming finger peg across the crown now. Looks a bit too far to me. Alman, it’s underneath a narrow. There’s everything wrong with that. Bit of a fudging piece this. He’ll just want to lick his first bowl. You know better than me, don’t you? Obviously. An old man never comes finger peg from there into this corner. Let’s put it that way. Yeah, I think some some pegs are easy pegging. Even I know that. There you go. Look, he’s just tweaked his fig and this will run down the ridge and away now. Channel now in it. Yeah, might have squeaked another though. Yeah, this Jack again berating his bowls. Might have squeaked another. Oh, a collision. Doggy like that one. Does a cry have missed that? Unfortunately not. He’s having a look at it. Doug, there’s plenty of room. I don’t know what he’s looking at. Surely not. Well, same peg. Finger peg. Yeah. What we saying? Looks a better land to me. Looks good. It’ll just throw back now off that ridge. Yeah, it’s good ball. Yeah, good ball. That bowl. Nice bowl. Especially after having your first one it. You got to reset, put the map back down and some somehow found find the land. But he’s done exactly that. Douggee go now. Just across the crown. Back across. be wanting to cut the green up a little bit, won’t he? I think keep Jack out of these corners. Yeah, just back across the crown thumb peg. Bit of a bit of a send this Mark. Got to get it up that hill. Yeah, it’s up and over, isn’t it? I mean I mean I know we’ve had a lot of rain this week, but it’s early doors. cuz it were pushy this the the greens knitting back together again now. It was it was deadly devilishly quick towards where stood but um there was very little grass on the wicket. Yeah, I played I played here it played here a couple of weeks ago in the comp and uh it’s quickest it’s quickest I’ve played it in years. Quickest I’ve played it in years especially coming down towards us. were absolutely lightning. Was there was there was trailing and running forever, weren’t they down here? So pushy today. I thought they were another rearranged Murfield game tonight on it. I thought it’d been got the sprinklers on it. Mark. Yeah. Get the water on. Yeah. Douge with a just pulled up quickly. Oh, we’re not sure. Not sure. Jack’s looking at the other peg. Likes to get nice and low to look at the layer of the land. Does Jack get the gets the worms I Tony Stevens’s job around a green. Well, with the old putting I know with the old putting business. Yeah, Tony should be able to read a green and he pulling his pants up before he sends his bit of a strike here from Jack on the finger. He’s watching. He’s got summer. Oh, he’s got the gap to Douggee. Two to Douggee. Yeah. Two good balls to Douggee there. Thumb peg up there. Not caught himself out. No. Very good. Very good Dougie just getting into the game now ever since that um that start 5-nil. It’s 7-1. Big difference momentum fully in Dougy’s corner here. And the only end he did lose was he all all day really. Yeah. Played quite steady. He’s won a few little comps this year again. I think a few a few shroudies tipped him down there down by Bookiey’s corner. A bit of a I still don’t see him getting past Tommy. Maybe that’s just me willing me bet. Maybe. So, um, just been reliably informed. Tory me Johnson is now a five to four favorite. Is there a cash from the last? I don’t know. I don’t know. We’re looking on bet duncan.com. I don’t think he gives cash outs. No. Unless it’s totally in his favor. Oh, and why not? No. We were uh quite happily sat with 9 to2 in his pocket here. I saw Tony. I saw Tony bringing him a new cap earlier to carry his tenners home. The bone will bring his wheelbarrow out at some point, I imagine. Douggeie with a good lead behind the Jackie about a foot behind coming for two. Jack a couple of yards to far with this. No, but it will make get a niggler, ain’t it? Interesting. Expect Jack to to at least save here. It’s interesting to mark this. You sure? Just throw back a bit now. We’ll just start throwing back a bit against the bias. There you go. Just going to go inside. Very good effort. Yeah. Ruin that first ball, will Jack? Yeah, he will. That’s a poor first ball from Jack. South Yorkshire County man. Jack Clark. Classy operator. And in his own words said he would never play in the vets. Can you believe that? Did he say that? Always told me today we’re never playing the bets, but he’s finally caved in at 70 years old. There you go. Still got a punch on for custard creams. I still be He’s still He’s still a county man, Jack. He must be a county man. I’m sure he is. Yeah. He’s never not been a county man since it were invented. Yeah, he’s uh Yeah, still currently holds a South Yorkshire record, I think. 351 chaps thumb peg under the crown slightly downhill now as the ball reaches that crest of a hill and he just flicked it might helped it a touch served it I think it yeah too far missing just come to a length just won it on a length that now it has oh doggy this come away didn’t get out out well did it too far this ain’t too far this is short for me that’s that’s not a ball. That never looked a good ball. No, he’s running after that in desperation, is it? It never looked a good ball, didn’t that? I’m afraid. Interesting shot for Jack’s going to come round peg here for me. Do you think? Yes. Thumb peg underneath his own. Can he score? Absolutely. You know better than me. He can score underneath easily. He’s only got to play to his own ball. He’ll get He’s no danger. Think he wants to come finger peg here. He has done now. Then we’ll throw out and it’ll finish on round peg. If this is reached, it’s it’s a good road. It is a very good road. Ah, good ball, Jack Clark. Very good. Very good. Very good. After he crouched down and guessed it, reliably informed Jack Clark made his counter debut for South Yorkshire in 1988. He’s never that young, Dave, is he? 1988. Ah, he’s still a class. Classy operator Jack Clark never to be underestimated. Yes, he has won teen comps. Humpteen comps. He’s a mega consistent player. Now then, thumb peg. He’s not come finger. Not come hardwwaying. Come thumb straight peg into a bit of a walk down here. It’s going to be a decent bowl. It’s not bad. Niggler. Yeah, it’s not bad. Decent enough. The final last eight game for the Green Blaze. Tommy Johnson and Paul Inglebe. Now then, Douggee Castle coming across the hill now. Now it’s downhill to the jack. Just going to fail this. Yeah, just a touch short. Look a bit small in balls. He’s playing at the side of at the side of Jack. Jack, I’ll just look to make two here. for any old doubt. He’s not short. He’s reached. It’s not so bad. This a good ball. If he’s just underneath his own, it’s not so bad. Yeah. Very good. Good ball. Good ball. Safety first. Made two. Dave’s got to avoid all the traffic now. This is short. This is not short. This is reach. You can take unless he’s underneath as well. This connection. There we go. Gone. Two penn for Jack Clark. Chat with the crowd. He’s got the support of of a few uh Yorkshire two at that end. The world’s against him. Yeah, they’re good at supporting their own South Yorkshire. You’re very good. In the other games, we’ve got three a piece Ernie Wearing and Tony Stevens. Steven A just got on with Nigel Cranston 2-1. And the other the last game of the last eight, Tommy Johnson, Paul Ingleby just gone on the green. Jack leading out 10-9. Thumb peg in the full corners. And Mr. Alman, you absolutely tipped this. Yes, he loves He loves it. He loves reach, does Jack? He did. He did indeed. Does get them out. Does get them out. Well, don’t get me wrong. You know, a man like him, he can play all sorts. Of course, he can. He wouldn’t have won the things he had. But this is his strength without a doubt. At this level, he’s uh if you’re good in the corners, you can be lethal, can’t you? Well, on the green like this, what is it? 40. Oh, you’re asking the wrong man. It’s It’s big. 40. It’s a big It’s a big is it? And we know that. So, you you lead you can lead. You can lead consistently in these corners, you’re going to win. Absolutely right. You’re not going to lose so many games. Absolutely right. Uh doing it is another matter. The best homeman all play 38 m or more. They all play 38 m or more. The easy marks in here are little round peggers just off the crown, straight peg underneath the crown. We’ve got to play well, but over a distance on here, I think playing here as a home man, you you know, you you’re not going to you’re not going to have too many people playing little round peg marks all the time. Not as a home man because because it’s not that kind of green anyway, you know. That’s exactly right. Jack Jack’s played two goodens in the corner here. Douggee Cow’s unlucky with his first. He’s going to meet traffic again here. He’s over the top. Look, it wins on a length nearly. Just go around the corner now for me. Just falling for me that he’s put put reverse gear in there, didn’t he? Fell back left. One to Jack. Jack singling pretty early. He’s not even lucky to have been unlucky to to lose that end jack there. We were over the top dog and it turned its nose and everything. It did anything but win. Not going to come for He’s not going to go up to the button. That’s a certainty. No. Interesting. I think Doug is a fair player over a distance as well. He’s uh Well, I think Jack’s playing Jack’s first Jack’s probably doing the right thing. He’s probably playing to his own strengths first and foremost and then if it goes wrong, you change it up from there. But absolutely right. Finger peg into this bottom corner. You can’t really miss a row. Just don’t get over the top. Yeah, Jack’s a decent enough line here. We’ll throw back off this hill now. As you see, he played a rail in here, aren’t he? It’s a real lead. Is it going to stop? Yes. Yes. Very, very good lead. Very good over that distance. Thumb pegs a damn sight harder Stuart into. I play thumb. It’s very, very hard work. Yeah. Um, not specifically from that corner, but I do come into He’s trying, isn’t he? I think he’s short. Oh, is he going to make one? Oh, what a good effort. That is desperately unlucky. Desperately unlucky. Does he does he risk coming for another? If you’re unlucky to knock him in, I suppose. Just got to be inside it. I think as long as he plays a road, he’s he’s reaching again. He’s relatively safe on the road. Reaching again. Oh, he’s not short. Oh, what’s going to happen here? He’s might just be fast enough to miss Douggey’s ball. Oh, goes out. Still one. No difference. Gone off. Not a bad effort actually for another. He’s reaching, isn’t he? He’s no trouble reaching Jack. Might have made that a little bit harder actually there. Well, should play a yard on now and try and see the ball. He certainly has. This is the ball to play. He’s not short, Mark. And he’s he’s nearing it. Is he just underneath? Underneath. Just underneath that ball. Good effort. Effort. Decent effort that maybe just lacking a bit of speed in the end. He reached. He played the right ball. Just got underneath, didn’t he? Yeah. Not easy over. I don’t think Doug will be dissatisfied with the way he’s played in the corners here. He got a bit unlucky the last end. He No, he’s not tossing them, is he? No, he’s he’s not playing badly at all. He’s conceded a few on the top, but I don’t think he’s playing bad. He’s not getting out thrown. Certainly not, you know. Certainly not. Nigel Cranston trotting after one there. He wants to be careful. They might go blind again. Doing the three peaks in the morning, Nigel. One of them peaks might be Valley Road at this rate. Well, what a then thumb peg back into this corner. Just brought in a touch. This is pretty much where Doug’s ball ended up last time. It’s a little bit more difficult than going to the more to the left. It probably is, isn’t it? I would say a fine line, isn’t it? Yeah, I would say so. He’s got a good road here. Just going to be all right, Jack here. He’s played a good lead. Touched far, but it’s a good ball. It’s a good ball. He’ll be happy with that. Oh, within a yard. He’s he’s a he’s a good good ball. Douggee has ever taken his time. Thumb peg now. Then Dougy’s reached here. I was just about to say he’s looked to a reach. He’s reached. It’s not It’s not too far. I tell you what, if he’s on a road, slipped it with a reel and I think I tell you what, that’s a marvelous bowl. It’s a good ball, but I think Jack’s made an error. I think he wants to come further under further left. Yes, I do. It’s exactly where Doug sent both his bowls to last time. I think it’s a little bit knife edges where he’s put it. Yeah. Can’t get too far under, can you? Cuz it won’t come back where is a little bit of scope. He’s never short. Short. Oh, Jack. Jack. There might be some exploitives coming out of Jack Clark very shortly. Hopefully the camera for the 9:00 water shed with no lip readers on the camera, but he he certainly won’t be happy with that one. What will Doug do? Will he try one the other wheel? Jack instead of knocking that ball in. It’s a long way short there though. He can’t knock it in length. Well, this ain’t too far either, is it? No, he’s he’s took the one and run the wheel. No, he hasn’t. He’s gone thumb on it. No, is he? Whatever it is, it’s not a good effort. No, Doug. He’s took the one and ran. Might as well have thrown it in the car park. I think it frightened him that that ball Jack’s ball stopped. I don’t think he wanted anything. Sometimes when you’re playing a distance, see different things from from the mat. Yeah, we stood up here. We know exactly how far short that is. You know, you stood on the mat thinking, “Oh, I can’t touch that bowl.” They’re seeing other things, aren’t they? That’s exactly right. Exactly right. Now then, where’s Douggee going to go? Finger peg. Oh, he’s coming thumb just over the top of the hill. Really easy to be short here. Really easy to be short. I don’t think people realize just how big of a crown this is, Mark, with it with the green being so big. You’re right. Yeah, it is a big crown, isn’t it? Good ball by Doug. You see it you see it on the rare occasions when you come here and it’s doing a bit and it’s and it’s a little bit quicker. Uh it stands out then. Yeah, you get some silly ends over over the crown. Do you know you get away with murder just gone out? I think for me that just gone out. Good effort. No one’s really sure. Andrew Sykes, the most reliable man in bowls comes on. He’s coming on having a look. He’ll tell him while Andrew length ball looks to just hold it. Yes. Asking a lot of info. I think Saon needs to draw Douggee a map. Is this the bit where you play one halfway up the pitch and you This is a bit where you you’ve over complicated matters and now you make a right ash of it. Oh, to be fair, it’s not too far. Oh, a bit. Oh, what a good ball. Well done. Well done, Doug. You lad. Two goodons there. Yeah, this will be a finger peg runner now. Finger peg rambler. Yeah, going to have to be a good though. He’ll only be able to see Can’t see with psycho stood there though. He’s better than a window. He’s getting down again. He’s Jack. Not sure he can see that. Having a look. He’s Well, can he pick the little pegs? Finger pegs the finger pegs the ball if if he if it if he hits the road. I I wouldn’t have thought he’d know the other way and this kind of stuff, but it’s difficult ball. This This is the ball he’s playing. Look, high tariff bowl. Likes it looking at it. He’s watching it. Just over the top and lucky. Good effort. Very good effort there from Jack. high tariff ball that is he’s he’s a lot of green to work with so I don’t mind the speed but he’s he’s got to pick the land and I don’t think he could see the jack from there but good effort two goodons for Douggee and again we’re at 12 a piece and I think everyone thought this would be a close game I think Jack Jack were just a four to six favorite on the heat they both played played well today got Tommy Johnson leading out at 34 four Tommy Johnson playing the world’s fastest player in Paul Inelby yeah I played him at the Griffin a few times and Jack’s got two yards to run sometimes and that first ball’s off don’t mess about what a people have slowed him down before big time when they play oh we can imagine that Yeah. You don’t like to play slow, don’t know. No. One of the games characters has ever have a gold card membership to Photoshop. God help us if he ever plays Jim Mo in a little more. Think he might do might be end up in magistrate’s court after that game. So, as Mark rightly said, we’ve got Tommy Johnson 34. We’ve got Nigel Cranston four, Steven Egg seven, and we’ve got Tony Stevens currently in front of Ernie Wearing 84 and Douggee Cowzel 12, Jack Clark 12 playing at these. He’s narrow. This isn’t doing anything. Difficult ball to play that peg. Yeah. Jack’s give this a lot to do on he Yeah, that that that’ll have to be three bias to come back from there. That’s going that’s just gone straight. I think he’s took the one and ran the wy old vets these they don’t give they don’t give points away. That’s just gone straight. Oh, they don’t give points away. These veterans. Oh, they do. Oh, they do. Believe me. Now then Jack back going back for his corners again. Mark here. Thumb peg straight peg back to like these two corners. cuz he don’t seem to want to head for the other two. Furthest uh furthest one would have been going for the other corner, wouldn’t it? But he seems to like these two corners. Yeah, I agree. Thumb peg again. He won the end down here last time though. And this Jack shouting this to get on and I’ve got him. He’s saying get on. It’s going to finish just past the jack. And it’s a good ball. Decent ball. Good ball by Jack. Couple of couple of feet tops too far there. Ernie wearing curly in the way now then Dave Cal not too far again here short very good road but left it. Oh he’s left it and he’s left it as dugy short down the hill. Everybody knows that’s downhill to the club steps. Oh Jackie is not short again here. Slightly inside the land this time. Tony just moving out of the way there as we see it. Step around the ball. It’s made. Not a good at least one here. Yeah, I think he’ll get near where he’s been playing. He’ll get near. Will Dave Cal? Oh, he’s further. Oh, I might have been wrong here. Olives. He’s absolutely buzzed this and and underneath. He’s not on road, is he? Oh dear. There’s been a malfunction there with Douggee. I don’t know what’s happened there. All he had to do were pass his own. Yeah, it’s big over adjustment. A wild one there, aren’t they? Big big over adjustment from from Dave there. He’s going to be going thump. Well, he is, but he’s in the way. What’s he going to do? Now then, I think he’s only he’s only going to go up there. He’s only going to go up there, ain’t he? Will he come under the crown this time? Now, he’s cut it down a lot. Look, he’s going shorter. This is short. But this is a similar line to where I thought he was going to go last time. Yeah. But quite a bit shorter with the length again. Drops back a little bit, doesn’t it? Against the bias. Black’s a straight mark, does Jack. Now then, is he over the bar? Is he going to drift? No, he’s just going to drift a touch. It’s not bad. Yeah, it’s not ding. Not bad. It’s decent. It’s decent. sort of Dave very meticulous in his preparation of sending a ball. Yeah, he’s just too far. He’s just caught Dave a little tafari here. It’s I did hear a rumor today that if Douggee won it, he were going to treat himself to a new pair of Adidas Sanders. Well, he needs to them since 1937. I know he needs to. Yeah, he’s got air vents in the front. It’s a good job it’s not raining. I have wet socks. This little adjustment in the land here from Jack might just caught Douggee out a touch here. Live and let live them balls aren’t they? If he licks one, he probably licks them both. Maybe in the way that’s Yeah, he’s got to miss that short ball. Really? He’s a better length, albeit too far still again. Oh, is it too far? Was underneath as well. He is two two toad had a wild He’s had a wild two ends. Just a little tweak in the length. 1712 now. He’ll come finger peg back to his corner, won’t he? 12. Jack, you’d think so, wouldn’t you? Yeah. Think he’ll deviate from plan A just yet. Yep. Finger peg back to the back to the corner where you come into the green from the car park again. Downhill from the top of the ridge. Not a difficult. No, it’s not a difficult mark for land again. Front peg again. Pegging it. It’s all It’s all pace. All pace. Jack’s a little bit too far. I’ve got him here. back. Might even be off the green. Yeah. Yeah, it’s a bowl underneath. Now then, dug your castles. Are you on a road? Played one here. It’s a good one. Just wants to be up that hill a touch. The lower you get. bowl. Well, the lower you get, the faster the mark will be. Decent ball. Very good ball. He’s He’s taken some out. How much does this reach? I think he’s struggling. He’s left it. He’s struggling. He’s left it. He’s struggling. Bit further up the hill as well. That’ll take some pace out. Dave. Dave holding shot. No. No. Now then they have a bit worried about knocking him in. Jackie is near the road with his ball but we’ll need to knock him two feet. Underneath may sink and not count this sorry he’s off the just getting me drinks order in slice getting waitress service. It’s my good lady going to the bar for me. This is the benefit. This is Oh, one to Dave Council. 1317 with Dave leading. We go over towards Nigel. Yeah. He’ll cut the green out again. Likes to play on the peg. Dave, you got to chop the green in half all the time. Very rare you’ll play. You’ll see him play straight peg. Yeah. Oh, there we go. Well, up to the button stuff. Maybe maybe a last maybe he feels it’s a bit of a last throw the dice. It’s interesting. Trying something different. Suppose why not. Yeah, why not? Why not? Indeed. It’s a It’s a It’s quite a thr up that hill from where they are. It’s on the road, but it’s short. Yeah, I don’t. He’s left it short up. I’d have had a rather large bet on the lead being short there up that hill. It’s quite the send. It’s not It’s not overly bad, is it? Well, this is not passing the jack either. This is not there. [Music] Now then, Douggee Castle with a tactics just caught him out. Good choice. Needs to make two. Yeah, needs to be pairing up. Preferably one closer than that, but uh might just be turned the peg. Two at this end makes it very interesting. He’s turned the peg. I think this is a bit of a bad choice by Douggee. It’s well executed, but it’s a decent ball, but I just think it’s a bad bit of a bad choice. him the other way in as well. Jack’s followed him in. Look. Yeah, Jack will learn from D’s ball. He’s toast [Music] to Doug. He’s left it. Well, if Douggee counts at this end, it’s all on again. 1417. Not so sure where he’s going to go here. He certainly won’t come back down to where he’s come from. He won’t go and cut the green off there. He may have to go into Kemp’s corner down the mark. He’s got to go in it. He won’t get a length towards us. No, he can get a length towards the far side, I think, from where he is. You know, he’s skirting with throwing the jack off like, but with the edge of the green, but he’s going to probably go into the corner on the thumb. Is he is he won’t play finger because it’s straight be thumb peg into into the far corner. Yeah, exactly right. Thumb paying into the far corner now. It does. Uh, it’s a little bit quicker this is where he stood. It’s a little bit quicker coming down there than most of the marks on the green today. Don’t look bad. No, he’s just got to grind on that hill now. Yeah, don’t look bad. Just a touch to a bit underneath underneath. Yeah, about to far maybe. They do finish on the round peg down there. Oh, this has been sent. This is knocking the shed down. Jack’s reached. Wowee, Jacko, that’s somebody. Wowee. Yeah. Yeah. Need your tin hats on in that corner. That’s a wild ball from Jack. Jack will know that’s downhill as well. Douggey sent a bad. It’s on the green. That’s all he can say for it. He’ll be disappointed if he don’t lick that jack. Better speed. It’s a much much better. He’s still too far. Oh, Douggee dancing it out. Doug dancing it out. Oh. Oh, I don’t know if Jack will like that. 15 17 Doug Castle leading out. Likely to go to the middle of the green again. Just over the button, I think. Thump peg. Let’s have a look. Yeah, thumbg peg a lot, Dave Castle. That’s three or four thumb pegs in the tro is never really noticed. Never study anything like that. I don’t really. Oh, you got to pay attention all this. Even at your age, you can learn new tricks. Yeah, I know. Reggie goes finger peg all the time. That’s all I’m told. But well, everyone tells me Reggie goes he’s a straight peg, Johnny. But I’m not so sure. Now then win things at Reggie thing. Exactly. I agree. Not a bad That’s not a bad Dougy’s let the water in here though. Good two and a half yards off here. So it’s a big adjustment for Douggey to lick that now. He’s not overly far. He’s not overly far. No, it’s No, just give up. Just give up. Yeah, I think that’s just give up. Jack’s asking, but it’s just give up for me that I’ll make sure. Bulljack. Douggee just making Douggee doubly sure. Does Douggey reckon is it? Who is he? Must think. Well, Jack’s going to come and have a wander up here to Assess the end. Albe it for me just needs to play a length on the top side. Well, I think even look from here that ball looks in. It looks in easy, doesn’t it? Doesn’t it? Obviously not. When you get to the vest had a glance. Do your eyes go when you get to the vest. Listen, I’ve had these eyes a long time. One, we’ll get Doug an appointment time. While Jack’s waiting to send this, we’ve got Tony Stevens currently 15-6 leading versus Ernie Wearing. We have got Nigel Crer seven, Steven Egg nine. And in the bottom of bottom game of the last eight, Tommy Johnson ate a piece with Paul Ingelby. So after all that, Jackson going to be a measure. Jack sent a bit of a shocker. Shocker and he’s going to be a measure. Jack’s pointing to his own says, “I’m in. I’m in. You’re going to give me it. As we know, when you get to this age, you give note away all everything. You try everything. You go blind and you don’t know who’s in. No, the measures will tell us. Jack signaling. Oh, he must be sure. Must be sure. I mean, he looks in from here to be honest. Oh, easy, easy. I can see here it’s 2 in. I told you we’re book Douggee needs a trip to spec service. Douggee double vision me up for a new suit. Douggee double vision. 1815 Jack Clark back to the corner where he’s just spread to a little bit thumb again. So he’s gone the same peg. Had a bit of a sight with the last end. Well, it doesn’t look No, I didn’t think it would have bad out the end. You think it would a baden? It’s gone four feet. Four or five feet. No, it’s not a good. No, I think he’s settling himself. And I think I think Jack like that as well. Still in the driving seat, Jack at 185. Surprised he’s gone back down there. Still come out a lot more gentler than uh than Jack did. I I wonder why he didn’t come into this corner. He’s won nearly every end into this car park. bowl. It’s won it. But expect Jack to beat this. Tucked him out. Yeah, he’s not in even at 70 years old. He’s running after him. 105. Yeah. Born leap here with Jack. Good ball as well. That’s a run. to run when you get to this stage. Doug is Dougy’s running him up now. Dougy’s done the gap. It’s like watching Vernon Lee and Callum Ray in the bump. Oh, sorry. The chat leading out 1915. thumb. Is he on finger? Oh, he’s gone finger now. This is a dynamite mark. This This is dynamite finger peg up here. Wowee. This is ambitious. I believe this is one of the hardest marks on the green is it? Oh, it’s there’s much easier. I tell you what, he’s played one as well. He’s played a real Wowee. That is a great bowl. That won’t be licked. Tell you now, that will not be You think that’s safe? Yeah, that’s 20. Needs to pair him after this. Marvelous ball from Jack Clark. Absolutely marvelous ball. This is here. Yeah, he’s in the shed with this one. This has reached. It’s over the top. What a bowl that is. Just needs to bowl that dug to be honest. It’s not It’s not a bad It’s done a lot of pulling up there to No, he’s certainly not replicated it. You can tell them certainly not replicated it. He’s short. He’s narrow. Call his strength went into that lead. Don’t think it’s med one. No. Gives. Let Jack. Let Jack confirm it. But it’s only one. I think just gives him a shot now on the do a thumb peg. He’s got He’ll play thumb peg runner here. No, there’s no value coming finger. No. Thumb peg. It is. reached under the crown. It’s a good speed, actually. It’s really good speed. Is it just over the bar? Whoa. Oh, what? Oh, what a bowl. Oh, what a good ball that is. Oh, he’s cursed. I don’t I don’t know. No, I don’t know. I don’t think so. Can’t really see. It’s won it. That’s a great ball from Dave Castle. That he might well have won it. Might well have won it though. You might be right. Yeah, it’s one. What a ball. That’s Yeah, give him conceded. What a well to beat. He’s done well to beat that. That’s the value in making two of the wallers. You can’t play that ball shot for nothing there. Can’t play that ball if he makes two. Yeah, great shot by Douggee. Bowl of the day there. Thumb paid runner in the Fins under the crown. Marvelous ball. Now then, 1916 is still in this Duggy. Refuses to go away. He needs to score ideally two, but uh certainly back in the game if he scores this end. Thumb peg. Jack’s just got that little bit of breathing space. Now then thumb peg. Not a particularly hard mark when the green’s like this. Certainly reach with this. That is going some. It’s not a good It’s a bad lead when he wanted a good lead. Jack taking his time. Yeah. Not as far. Looks so good. And if he’s on the road, if he’s on the track. Yeah, he’s played he’s played a decent ball. Yeah, good ball. Just around the corner, but couple of foot off. Decent ball. Not as far Duggy, he’s further up the hill as well, which is a good thing because it will bank and come down the hill. Trying here. Very good ball by Doug. Good ball when it mattered there. Yeah. Seven or eight inch off from the side from Jack’s support. Ryan advising him to chip it out. I think this is a full strike. But I don’t know if if he if he does put one on to the other. Does he keep the jack on? I he can’t risk playing a yard on really and hitting that if he hits the block. I don’t know. It’s whatever it looks like from him. Deaden play deaden. Don’t mind this shot actually. I’m not I’m normally whole heap more aggress away. You know good effort. That’s an unlucky ball. Oh, that’s the difference. That is the difference. Douge just chips to Jack just enough to score. Jack has the connection. D doesn’t score. I didn’t mind that ball. That was a fair enough ball there just with his lead there. He didn’t want to give him two cheap ones, did he? No. No. Make him earn them. He’s a proper competitor. Jack Clark has his Douggee Council. That’s why refuses to go away at 1719. He wins this end. Jack in hand. It’s going to be a 50/50 game. Really? Yeah. New Samas will be calling. Oo, I know. Sports director will be getting an order. Thumb peg again under the crown uphill turning and going down the hill. Now we’ll need a connection just that yard to fire again over consistently too far today. A bit sticky. I don’t think dried out. I don’t think there’s any there’s any hope in playing short and winning though. I don’t I don’t mind him. Jack’s reached. Oh, he’s over he’s overreached. Overreached. Now then, Douggey comes the cat amongst the pin. Not half. Not half. Now then, Douggee taking his time. Not as far here. Mark, I’ve got this way short. This is short. Yeah. Now then this is Well, you would think you would think he licks these, wouldn’t you? It’s too much room really for for somebody like Jack. Has he reached again? Well, he’s far enough to make one. Far enough to make one. This can’t fail. Solo winners. Nice and high off the ground. It’s a length. Good ball. Yeah. Little little bad two for Douggee that this bad two for that. had two balls. Yeah, Doug is giving him a giving the debrief on why he played two bad there. Now then, Jack going to come for this far corner again. I imagine he will do this time. Thumb peg under the crown. Must be will he? Will he? Oh no, he’s gone. He’s gone finger peg over bit more difficult them them six or seven yards on the road there make this mark a hell of a lot more difficult cuz you’re coming at a different angle across the crown. Yeah, this big ridge ridge to come through as well. Wants a good lead here at all. But does Jack? Well, he’s stalking it. I’ve got him short. I’ve got him just short bad. It’s a good lead. Well, you’d rather have it than lick it. That’s a great lead. Going to take one of Douggeie specials to lick that one. Yes, it’s a good lead. Now then Dougy’s stalking this, you know, stalking it, but he’s short. He’s a couple of yards short. Yeah, I don’t think Jack Jack won’t go far wrong here. just just just making two but in the way and on the road on the finger cuz he certainly can’t win inside that bowl. Doug is going to do well to lift that lead. Oh Jack, what have we done here? Makes another. Does he stay on? Yeah. Makes another It’s all right there. Is it? What’s he do? He’s got to He’s got to play dead now. Yeah. Can ask all the questions he likes. He’s got to play dead. Line and length. line and length now then. Pressure’s on. All but 17 down. Well, he’s further. You know, he’s bloody further now then. Clear run was the cry. He’s got one off the short. Wow. Oh, what a ball. What a ball that is by Douggee Council. He’s played two of the best bowls I’ve seen all day. It’s a very good bowl. Marvelous bowl. Very good. Dear me, what a bowl that is. Line and length, Matt. Line and length. Very good. Very good bowl. 1820. Just refuses to give in. He’s going to go to the button here. I imagine it were that good. He should have come off and watched it. Oh no. Yeah. Just rewound the reound the feed and have had a look. I’ admired. Oh, interesting. Interesting. He every time he played the button from this from this from this corner, he’s won the end and he now he’s gone three quarters in on the peg. And this come away badly. This did come away badly, but looks okay. This is all right. He’s urging it on. It looks good. Yeah, it does look good. That’s not so bad. Yeah, very good. About a foot off maybe. Oh, it’s an epic. Certainly an epic. Two two wy old vets battling it out. What a bowl. There’s always some comedians behind you talking when you’re on the coms. To get back to making chip boys in that kitchen. Oh yeah. Well, must to do something to benefit club. I know that. Jack short here. Short and big. Well, road’s not so bad if you were on a road, but front length. Then all of a sudden, he’s coming for 20 a piece here. Now then takes his time again. Very meticulous his doggy. Looks so good. And again, Mark done it. Thumb peg coming across the crown. Another real ball. Oh, you don’t want these back, Mark. That is for certain you don’t want these back now then. Oh, finger peg. Bottom. Yeah, finger peg. Go to him. Jack Jack had a go finger peg last time down there. So got to let crouching down with it. Oh, he’s leaning already. Underneath. Underneath. Oh, never looked likely. A little bit. 20 a piece. Who’s your money on Mark? Where’s he going to go? Is he coming down here? I think he’ll go a little round pegger down to Tommy Johnson down there. That’s what I think. And I’m going to back Jack Clark. Well, I go with Douggee. I think it Oh, no. He’s looking at this far corner. Is Duggey? Is he wrong already? I know, but I can’t imagine him. Is he going to go into the corner or round peg? Surely not. Yeah, it’s the length I thought he’d play, but the wrong way to be honest. Yeah. Now then, thumb peg just under the crown. Not as much peg as you think on this little piece. Looks all right to me. Yeah. Looks good. Just a bowl inside. Oh, on a road it was smoking length. Now then, Jack Clark staying here. Well, if he’s a length, is he a length? Is he too far? Oh, who’s in? Gone out. Just gone out. I think you might be right. Just in one of the other games there anywhere in just dipping out 219 to Tony Stevens. Now then, he’s not he’s not beat his lead and doggy. Jack’s just got to beat his own bowl here, live. It is. Live and let live. Anything inside Jack’s bowl, you’d think it wins it. Come away nicely. He’s short. Is he short? He looks better to me. He looks better to me. It’ll finish downhill now. He’s nearly short, you know. Well, I don’t know who’s in. I have absolutely no idea. We’ll know in a minute. Check hands. Might like his. Oh, nobody knows. So, is that a sign? If I were going on body language, I’m saying Dave likes his tough one to call. We might not even get an idea when they shake hands. I have no idea from here. Oh, it’s Jack. It has Jack has just won. Wins. Just crawled in that ball. Wow. Don’t look in, does it? From up here. Really? It looked like it was just given up, didn’t he? Dave can’t believe the measure. Jack definitely won that, didn’t he? Can we go to VR? We might need VR. I don’t know who won. I think he won. He did win. The scoreboard says he won. So, that’s good enough for me. As long as the scorer knows, that’ll do for me. Jack Clark just winning a a very, very close encounter. Good game there with Dave Castle 2120. The bottom half of the last day is still on the green. Um Nigel Cranston versus Steven Hey. Nigel leading out 1316 behind. And the last game of the last eight, Tommy Johnson currently 1214 behind with Paul Ingelby and Paul Ingelby currently leading out and laid one in. We’ll follow to the completion of these two games. Um we’re going to stick with Tommy Johnson and Paul Ingelby. Yeah. So we’ll stick with Tommy Johnson and Paul Ingelby for the time being. We’ll keep giving you updates with Nigel Cranston and Steven Hey throughout this given the nature the closeness of the game. Tommy currently going finger pegging to the far corners played a runner and is exceptionally close to collecting something. Ding one of the most entertaining characters in the ball circuit. He’ll still be in signal one. hands are on his get right up to the end probably and then he’ll sign. He’s he’s wafted his arms. He’s thrown his arms for the air. Hands are on his hips and he’s still one up. [Laughter] Now then Ding going up the far edge. Big uphill from this corner. Quite the pinching mark on the round peg. uphill has he reached? Yeah, he’s reached to a decent enough length. Just gentle there. Yeah, 18 inches off. Tommy been countless times knows this is uphill. Looks a good on the road. Tommy missed it. Robbed it. Great ball missing. Ding dong like this. You can always tell when ding short. He looks down at ground. It’s always ground’s fault. Now then, Tommy J. One of the best running ball players this game’s ever seen. There you go. Right on queue. Marvelous. Absolutely marvelous. Well, it’s a it’s a good effort at a pair. Oh, it has done. What a ball. He’s the best running player running ball player I’ve I’ve I’ve seen. So many of them bar none. Marvelous player. All kinds of pressure situations. Still seems to 145. Great ball there. Big big swing in the game that at a very crucial time just keeps him in it. Struggling a bit. Ding playing very well. has played well all day as ding 14 15 to finger peg. Is that finger? Is it thumb? He can go off game or if he gets in any kind of rhythm. He’s still got it. His old ding. He’s still got it. Tony said he’s he’s a very dangerous man. I said he’s talking about Boulder. He’s dangerous on the Photoshop front. I know that thumb peg Tommy towards the club today. There’ll be a few pictures going on Facebook. Oh, there will be. Absolutely. I imagine if Ding wings it with his trophy, they’ll be all sort flicker flicker won’t be able to wait to get it on get it on social media. He won’t be happy with that ball, won’t Ding though? Plays at 1,000 miles an hour. Ding. And when it’s going well for him, he’s he’s absolutely mustered. But Tommy plays quite quickly. Yeah, it’ll suit each other. Great ball here from Tommy. Yeah. And rightly so. Really? No, this is inside narrow and far. Well, Tommy the Jay at the double again. Yeah, we know now 60. No. How big’s that runner up there? Four chalks off a runner. Massive. He’s all of a sudden got in front from looking like he going to go 16 1612 down. He’s 165 in front now. Then yeah, it’s just just under the crown. It’ll hold straight and then it’ll finish on the bias slightly downhill. Nice little mark this Tommy with his unique action just flicks him out the front. Barely looks like he sends him. We’ll need a collection on the way through. He’s got one. Going to go a yard with a miss. Ding’s inside the land here. It’ll only hold if he’s too far. Must be too far given his hel so long. Yeah. Tommy coming for two. Good land. Good land on Tommy. Needs a length. We’ll finish downhill on the bias. Yeah. He normally means he’s slightly short. Well, he’s he’s running the tight line. His ding. He has gone inside. That’s exact. That’s exactly where the first ball would have gone with the length. They say they say one ball they say one ball can’t change a game. It certainly has done in this. He’s now had a six break in three ends. Yeah. Two. Two two. Yeah, they love him on the panel playing reaching balls like that. They don’t like it when he’s short. Never had the privilege of playing on such a venue. Now in the other game that’s getting a bit nailbiting as well. 1517 that game is with Steven Heg leading out to all Yorkshire winners there. Yes. Nigel Cranston an all England winner. I was there at the water when Nigel won me the champer champs. 83 I think. Oh, that’s a long time ago. When you were just I weren’t born then. I’m I’m a 90s child. I might Yeah. It’s only chance you would have had a Vicky me. Tommy laid show you in the final. How do you remember something in 1983 but don’t remember yesterday? But I can remember 83. Brilliant. That’s when balls were proper. Yeah. Back in those days. Characters. Oh then. Ding played a runner. Unlucky. Good effort. A characteristic arm wave from bowling. 1915. And it said brave man to back against him. Brave man to back against him. Not running out now. 1915 in front. Ding. Thought he had it just slightly underneath. Really good. You know, all his top at that from that era. They could they could all play good. Chris Yeah. Very very good. He’s never shot it. Mogadoo. No, never short. The hardest challenge of Chris is choosing his balls to go on the green. I’ve heard Janine’s just had to approve an extension for his balls. That’s what I’ve heard. He’s 152 sets out. Just not enough. He keeps accumulating them. Good lead by Tommy again. Thump peg into that far corner. Ding’s ne to land this time than he was. Yeah, he’s near. He’s a lot closer to land than he were last time. It’s a very good effort. Yes. Oh. Oh. Oh. Now. Oh, it’s just fallen the wrong way. Looks to have won it from here, doesn’t it? Ding thinks it’s gone out. I’m not so sure. Deadly Dave Walker having a look. Yeah, Dave likes the back bowl. Tommy won’t be sure. Tommy just leaning. Just leaning a touch to his left. I like I like this. It’s got It’s got to go. It’s got to go. It will finish on the bias. Yeah. Short. That’s a commentator again. Yeah. Never see Never see Tommy play short when he’s in when he’s not in, should I say. Always reaches. Ding’s thrown his second ball off. Ding ding ding ding. No danger on the road there. 9 69. Obviously, we’re on at 9 to2, Stuart, so we’ve got to be unbiased in this game. Yeah. Be shouting go on Tommy at 20. We need to be unconsciously biased. Tommy had a five to four jolly before the last eight set off. Really? Yes. It’s all It’s all your pension on a homeman. All my pension. Yes. Hope you had told the wife. She’s not listening. Bing coming over the middle here. Finger peg. He’s been playing it well all day and he’s left a good touch shot. It’s not a bad, but you’d expect Tommy to lick that. Tough mark. Wants to come straight. Tommy, I think. Yeah, I don’t blame him. Not from that angle with this through the size of his crown. It’s all about angles. Is he too far? Thumb peg won’t finish as quick. Yeah. Not a bad in the other game. Steven egg leading out 2015 in front. No, he’s not on the road, is he? No, he’s not. Look for two, Tommy. Steven Glade game against Nigel Cranston. The 2015 up. Tommy Johnson coming for game in the other one. We could have two quick finishes here. Well, we we have had two quick finishes. Steven has won 2115 against Nigel Cranston and Tommy Johnson has won 2116 against Paul Ingelby. How crucial was that running bowl? Can’t believe can’t believe Stuart that we’ve backed him and he’s uh he’s provided the goods. Well, but there’s time yet for it to go. Oh, there’s time yet. He’s might get struck by lightning. Yeah, you just never know. There’s still time. Um, we’ll be back with you for the last four for the semifinals. We’ve got Steven Egg versus Tommy Johnson of Pointton. Two two winners from the bottom half. And in the top half, we have Jack Clark against Tony Stevens. We’ll see you in about five minutes for the commencement of the semifinals. Steven 216. [Music] I’m Thanks for being here. final here. [Music] Okay, so we’re live for the semifinals of the 2025 Putsy Senior Classic. We’ve got Jack Clark against Tony Stevens. currently 4-3 to Tony Stevens with Tony about to lead out from this bottom right hand corner as we look at it. And in the other game we have got Tommy Johnson 3-1 in front against Steven Hey and laid a very good ball finger peg into that corner. Um, we’ve got a Bradford legend, legend, Bradford Parks legend and voice of Bradford Bowls for a number of years, Jimmy joining us on the commentary. Good afternoon, Jim. I had Stewart. Yeah, back out of retirement. I think I first did the commentary at Puty 2012. Me and Nappy Stewart. I might have even been playing in 2012 when I were half decent. You you were a a promising youth in them days. I was promising youth. Turned into a bit of a Yeah, controversial. Yeah, we’re not allowed to use them word on there. No, I’m keeping it PG. Um we got four four of the best senior players of the day in this in this final I think. Um couple of will be unlucky to to uh to have bowed out ear earlier on with um Paul Ingle be particularly playing very well against Tommy Johnson there just bowing out with a a very very good runner in the top corner to count to and Tommy never looked back from there. Nigel Cranston played particularly well against Steven Hey. But we’re left with these four Jimmy and I think we’re both in agreement. Tommy Johnson’s the man to be. Yeah, for a man who don’t like the green, he’s put in them pretty close. Um, Steven’s played well, don’t they? I mean, he he knocked Bob Bitchin out in his first game. Anybody who beats Bobin’s playing at roundabout, isn’t there? Um, yeah, he’s play played well, Steven. Consistent. I don’t think there’ll be much in that game. And the other game, um, I think it’d be the first person whose muscles things up. Uh, it’s a long day when you’re 60 plus playing five games. ultimately if you’re going on to win it. So, it’s going to be interesting to see who can be who can keep a consistent length. It’s very true. It becomes a war of attrition now into these semi-finals. Some of these guys been here since half past 9 this morning. Um, I think one of the bonuses of these four is that temperament wise they they’ve got that ability to forget an end if they if they play a shabby end where maybe somebody like Ding in the last game. Tommy’s played a wonderful running bowl like you say and he’s run out basically on the end of that then Ding’s beating himself up and he had no need to beat himself up because he he were playing all right. Yeah, he were playing very well with Ding. He he’ll feel exceptionally unlucky. slightly hard done to but that’s ball sometimes I think I think it’s fair to say Ding played with a better player for 80% of that game and and just off that running bowl Tommy Tom Tommy was just hanging in was weren’t he just hanging in but that’s what good players do don’t they the uh they managed to hang in when other folk fold that’s exactly right so the the bookie made um Jack Clark four to five take your pick with Tony Stevens four to five each yeah I think we spoke earlier we’d have probably made Jack slightly slight favorite maybe four or six five to four um but it’s a great temperament Tony and I mean I had seen him play a lot of bowls but I know he he qualified here in the putsy classic then he lost in the final of the Ellen Classic that Bobic you know you know they’re big comps you know you don’t get to finals in them without being able to bowl a little bit that’s exactly right very keen and and and a particularly good goal for Tony Stevens yeah and And you look at him and his body language is good, ain’t it? You know, he just gets down. He just does his stuff. Just does his stuff. Yeah, he always looks in control. I’ve been I’ve been quite impressed with Tony. I’ve not seen much of him myself other than a little bit Ellen and a bit here. And he um he’s been he’s been impressive, I must admit. But again, I I quietly fancied Jack on on the on the heat at four to five, I must admit. Well, Jack will have the green knowledge on him on Tony, won’t it? Um but then going to the other game now, I don’t know. Is that What is it? 673 32 to um Tommy at the moment. Is it on the program now? I don’t know which number is which. Yeah. Uh 32 or Tommy. I not Yeah. Is have they put this end on? She’s just about to Is it the tension now? Does it go across? So, as you look at the scores, um, num number two will be Jack Clark, number three will be Tony Stevens, number six will be Steven Hey, and number seven will be Tommy Johnson. As you look at the scores from the camera, we’ll try to remember that, but I’m sure we’ll forget at some point. We’ll get a grip. Now, I’m I’m quite surprised Steven’s going in corners with Tommy. Um and Tommy would be delighted to see a lead like that. Um he lap that up will Tommy as good a sender as most is Tommy likes to send them. Very very rare you’ll see Tommy Johnson play 20 m on the round peg. No it were uh it’s not easy coming out out of the dip where they are is it? No it’s it’s can be a bit rough at times in there. You don’t get it out. I don’t think he’s reached again. Stuart he’s he’s narrow. He’s just gonna come on a on a shallower line than Tom is. Just going to go in. Just gonna go in. 44 3 4. It’s not an easy mark, ain’t this finger peg up here? Further this time. He is. If he’s gone finger when he goes in, doesn’t he? Yeah. It’s winner if he Yeah. Good ball. Great ball from Tommy there. Great ball. Four apiece. Johnson family but buzzing out they after Lee’s win at the water this thing. Yeah, Lee Lee were particularly close several years ago losing to Paul Dale after he’d beat me. One that got away I think from both of us. I think Lee that that that particular day Lee Lee will feel like he should have won it and he’s he’s got his uh he’s finally got his hands on the on the uh Graange Valley Fleetwood Waterloo albeit not at the Waterloo but still still means the same really. It’s still a Waterloo winner and still will go down as a Waterloo winner. So well done to Lee Johnson for that for that particular win. And well done for you Stuart because somehow we’re talking about Lee Johnson winning the 2025 and you’ve managed to get your own name. I think you’ll find Lee lost in the final that day. Just a just a factual drop of information there, James, for you. 25 minutes of Stuart King’s greatest highlights. Yeah, there ain’t many. We’ll make it 10. It’s 25 minutes with adverts, James. Well, I can’t believe I’m going to stick off me, mate. Anyway, back to the game, Jimmy. Please. Back to the game. Back to the game. Oh, then Tommy’s going to come and make two of you here. That didn’t come away. Well, Tommy’s Tommy’s marching after it. Normally means he thinks he’s short. He’s not going to pass the jack, I would imagine. I think it’s going in. It’s not going to be shabby. Yeah, good ball. Good ball from Tommy. Maybe a foot or two short, but it’s still a good ball there. thumb peg. I don’t associate steam with playing corners. I must admit I mean I too far now in Turley got he is he’s underneath and too far. This will be two tommy. Tommy a two to five favorite to win the competition before this round. Jimmy yeah he were in the to be fair it I think he were 9 to2 at start at comp, weren’t they? But it would the bottom half of the draw, the bottom 16 were particularly tough and then a couple of the the fancied runners both bowed out and by process of elimination, you’re left with Tommy then, aren’t you? It certainly was. I’ve just been I’ve got to give a shout out to David Parkin, a bit of a BS guru who was um for anyone interested in the chat has put some pertinent stats shall we say and comp wins um from those that have parttook today and since we’ve been live and Steven egg lost in the Yorkshire Merit final or did did he lose in that final in 1998 to to Cranston? I’m not so sure. Dinguin won the uh 1983 Huddersfield merit at New Mill. If there’s a start out there, Dave, we’ll find it. Which is I find very interesting. We we need people like Mr. Parkin just remind us of the glory days of some of these oldtimes that are playing today. People seem to forget that the uh the older end of of some of them have been there and done it more than people can remember or would probably win themselves. Yeah, today’s generation won’t even know who these people are. Possibly not. Some some of the best around some of these guys. I just got a feeling he might regret the the decision to put Tommy in corners even here. Yeah, I don’t think it’s ever a good decision to wang Tommy in the corners personally. But well, he’s trying, but it’s too far. I think is there a gap? There is. Yeah, the best always get the look, James. You always get the little rubs. If you can get the look and then you’ve got a bit of an ability, you’ve got a chance, ain’t you? That is indeed. Indeed. He’s going to lift two more. 84 from 4-3 down. Just as we saw against Ding in the last round where Tommy gets the jack, he can quite easily put half a dozen points together real quickly. And I think that when GI were at his best, you know, that one of the things I noticed and I watched him in a lot of comps and I’ I’d look at scoreboards and he’d be seven a piece. Then you’d have a little chat with somebody. You turn around and he’s 187 up. He’s just got four or five twos together. And yeah, that’s that’s what the best do. They’ve got a gear, don’t they? They’ve got a gear. Yeah, they they just engage engage that fourth and fifth gear. And there’s very few people that can live with him at that point when they do that. And he’s coming back to something like this year, his GI. It’s nice to see him. Yeah, it’s great. It’s great. You know, he’s one of the best ever. Yeah. You know, super super player. Brilliant to watch. Nice to see him back to his back to somewhere near his best as a bare minimum. Well, thumb peg into that far corner. It’s down. Nearly as far, don’t I? Oh, hello. And what were that you said about the best? Have a bit of look. Well, I dare say I dipped it. That ball’s almost Well, it’s unlikable now. He’s put he’s I love that shout. Is that as close as it looks? Please give me some good news. A hopefulness in the in the talk in there that you think. Yeah. Steve, he’s going to have to produce something good here, Jim. Well, the prop leaves him, too. It does. I don’t know if he can get to it, can he? He’s He’s just got to reach the end and hope for the best. And he he’s reached. He’s after it. He likes it. Yeah. He’s He’s 85 years old running across green. Jimmy, what’s going on? What’s going on? He’s got it. What a bowl that is. Oh, what a bowl. What a bowl. Dear me, he almost caught the bowl up. I don’t know which I’m more surprised with. Yeah, but he might pay for it in the second half of the game. What a great ball by Steven. Marvelous. Put out one of these high energy drinks out there now. Oh yeah. Going to need a rub down after this. Whoever wins it. Marvelous ball by Steven Egg. Still the best bowl in the egg family. Whisk kid a lot to learn. Yeah, he’s he’s promising, ain’t he? He’s promising, but temperament’s a bit dodgy. Now the finger peg 3/4 in the corners to 3/4 to was on the peg. Got this narrow possibly short. Yeah, it’s But the again they’re in the dip out. They said they’ve got to turned over. Yeah, turned over. He’s played here several times. Jimbo, will it slide down a touch at It’ll slide down a touch. Yeah, but he’s he’s still above and he’s But he’s a length. He’s a good length. It’s not so bad. Good length. Steven persisting with a finger. Much harder weigh in. Better road. Yeah, it’s a bit to run and run, don’t he? Yeah. Just going to lay short again here. Well, don’t win anything for me. Tommy’s. Oh, this took a running skip out the corner. Tommy’s definitely in at the moment, though. Still Oh, he got this narrow as well. Jim can’t reach. Sure. He took a bit of a hop out the corners. Yeah, I think the ground’s a bit rough over there. So, yeah, Tommy bit disappointed with that, but can’t be helped sometimes if you get a bit of a bit of a bad ride. You get away just that bit bit bad and it can make two and three yards difference on the running of the ball. Not a lot of emotion shown on his face, is he? Just that happens. Get on with it. Next end. Plays plays the game how it should be played, Tommy. Nice and fast. Gets on with it. No messing around. Is a gentleman and he just gets on with it. Well, he’s he’s a touch inside the line. This won’t hold. This will peg. It has done. Checks his head in disbelief. One of my leads is that. I know. Not so good in that one. Just got to tweak the road, Tommy. It’s not such a bad length on a wider route. Steven’s got a decent enough road here. It just needs a length for a gun. Yeah, it’s good ball, Jack. Well, they are slightly deaf and blind at this age, Jimmy, aren’t they? He can’t do all that, can he? It’s a scabby end for Tommy. Is this scabby end? Yeah, he’s let the water in. Oh, it’s a bad end for Tommy. Very very unusual to see Tommy throw an end as as as bad as that in Steven lap that up. Two more to him and that will be 79. Tommy would just turning the screw there a touch. Yeah, noting the other game currently Jack Clark 108 up against Tony Stevens. Yeah, the book is right. So far it was book heads it down was a close game and that’s exactly what it is. I still think stamina is going to play a big part in this game. You know they say it’s a bit of a an easy sport this Jimmy a bit of a sedate sport but when you’re up down and wandering around a green and running them up about how mentally tiring it is. That’s exactly right. You know, Connor Chamberlain said at the All England, he he says the fatigue physically and mentally when you’re running them in and you’re adrenaline’s up, then it’s down in between games and your adrenaline’s back up again. It can be excessively difficult to to to maintain your level. That’s right. And that’s why you Wilson of this world have won as much as they have. Chris Mu was the they same same pace, consistent all the time. There’s a lot to be said when you’re trying to win a a 32 or a 64. Yeah. Just churning out the same performance. That’s correct. Yeah. There’s no variance in the performance. Tommy enough again. Yeah. He might leave two this just lost his length. Just lost his length these last couple of ends and the game’s level. Tony’s to back. Yeah. Well, all of a sudden, 95 to nine apiece. Tommy looking like he might just get away from him to being dead level. A couple of bad ends there. Tommy just um sprayed a couple unusually for him. Steven just going to play peg slightly under the crown. Bit of a round peg up the hill then back down on and on the swoop. I think his tactic is just to play close now. It looks like that. Why not? Yeah, why not? So, the easiest marks in here normally are slightly under the crown. We said I said this earlier. It allows you to play them near and put and apply some element of pressure, especially as as an away sort of an away comp sort of player. Tommy just to far enough again. Yeah. Yeah. That’s that’s three or four balls he’s sent to far now. Steven going to come for two here. Just nagging balls. Nagging balls. Yeah, it’s going to be lay two. Good. And licks them though. A good ball licks them. They come out nice. Normally when they come away nice looks a tighter road to me. Looks a tighter road. That is true. Is nar. Yeah. Well tipped, Jimmy. Three twos on the chop there. Two two. Yes. Yes indeed. Tommy’s not played the ball within a yard. And I dare say not not particularly hard marks either. No. No. It’s not as if Steven’s wrapped it this last three ends, is it? No. Had to absolutely not. No. Interesting one really. Finger peg again under the crown. slightly downhill. Just just on top of the ridge there is the Jack. It’s strange because this is the M that the Jack is where Ding were playing in the last game, but he going in the other peg. So, you think Tommy would know the other way in? Yeah, I don’t think it’s particularly hard either either peg if if I’m truthful. Tommy’s finally adjusted with the length here. Good effort. I think it probably wins it, mate. I think it’s won it. Front ball was the cry. So Tommy’s holding shot. Steven looking at the other peg. I like to get the worms eye view of these uh these veterans. You don’t get any taller as you get older. That’s for certain. That’s very true. I mean, he could. He’s close. Is he just over the bar? Just over the top there. He does peg a touch there. He haven’t played a ball that isn’t uh unsimilar to what Tommy’s going to play here now. I I thought Tommy would have come in thumb there and just try to prop for a pair, but he’s he’s trusting his What do I know about the game? What do I know about the game? Oh, he’s brush brushed the jack living on the edge there, Tommy. One to Tommy. 1011. Tommy leading out. I imagine he’ll be persistent with this longer mark play. Yeah, I think he’ll play thumb into the top corner, won’t he? try to get Steve just over reaching. But this is the mortar length I expected Tommy to play. Not quite full in, but you know that that sort of 38 42 m somewhere in between those two slightly inside the road. If it gets to a length, it won’t be bad. Yeah, not so bad. It’s done. It’s done better than I thought because it’s a bit of push into there, didn’t it? I want a bit of a push. Well, Steven, too far for me. Too far for me. Good stat for you here, Jimmy from Dave Parking. Go on then. Tommy Johnson won the autumn Waterloo in 1985 and one of only five people to win both Waterloos, the All Britain and the Champer Champs. That’s an illustrious list to be in, isn’t it? I think he’s got I think he’s got three spring water to lose, ain’t there? You don’t you don’t win those and get that collection of trophies in your cabinet without being mustered. Yeah, but there must there must come a time when you’re going down. Yeah, true, true. You can’t play that level for at all. Personally, at all. Well, no, no, no. That’s Well, he’s playing at it. Jack for a pair. Done the gap. How did I guess? Told you the best get the rubs. Yeah. And suddenly with a level game, 11 across. That gives you an idea of of the class of the of the man that is Tommy. Tommy Johnson’s finest. He just put three atrocious ends together there, doesn’t he? And then he’s just suddenly he’s back level. Back level. Yeah. Never lets it bother him. I imagine he’ll probably come for this bottom corner, won’t he? Or will he come towards us, Jimmy? I think I I think he’ll come inside where Jack is here and I think he’ll he’ll put it in that that area there maybe three or four yards side of where Jack’s playing. Yeah, you’re right. He’s gone finger. He’s gone finger on it. Has he gone finger or has he gone thumb? I think he’s gone. He’s come the other side of the Yeah, that this is where he played um he ran out again ding on this mark. Meanwhile, in the other semi-final, Jack Clark is 139 up against Tony Stevens who’s just run into a short bowl. Tommy Johnson with a gun coming here. Just there’s just a little bowl here. Just it’ll just back a touch. Yeah, there you go. Just turning against the bias. Good lead. This is the It’s not not a particularly hard mark, isn’t this? Well, having a look here for me. Is it too far though? Does it go out the back door? Oh, good ball. Good ball. He whipped the peg. No, still going to come. Trying to draw a deaden. I’m assuming you can’t get too big on it, though. No, it’s a bit of a bowl there. It It will whip round. Can it whip now? Can it whip even today? It’s coming. No, it’s two good balls, but good ball by AI. Really? Can’t win short. Just had a little little little bit of a nudge there, but probably fully deserved given a couple of bad bad rubs that he’s had. Fair enough, won’t he? Fair enough. You always give him a chance if you’re fair enough. He’s got big with this. This is two. This won’t come. Trying to, but it won’t won’t have it all. Not today. Not today. Yeah. In the other in the other game, Jack Clark leading out 149. Looking to play pretty well, is Jack thinks he’s too fair. He does. He does. So this is more the type of mark I expected Steve to play. I’m I’m in your camp there. You mean I’m absolutely in your camp. Just a little bit rough up this edge. So you can get a bit of a bad ride and a lot depends on the on the route you’re taking in terms of length. Far enough. This is very very much far enough. I wouldn’t imagine that’d be good enough on this mark. You’d be disappointed if you didn’t lick it, wouldn’t you? Absolutely. So, I’m just going to touch bigger, which will which will which will cover more green grass, but it’ll just go in, but it’ll still be short. Probably a good length on a better better line. All right, Andy. Good. Good. Steven just gonna Yeah, good online. We are just going to go in. We got Tommy just going to make one here. Just going in. Fair enough for me. Fair enough. Fair enough. Just wants to do his own. He does his own. He nearly makes two. Oh, there’s such a genius about your left. Oh. Oh, he could have made two. Early shout from Steve. It was an early shout. Could have made two. First couple of spots of rain as well. Well, the rain’s coming now. Now then, this does make it a war of attrition. Think make Tommy a stronger favorite. Get some puddles on this green pocket dynamo. That’s entirely feasible. Entirely feasible. I won’t back against him if the rain did come heavy. I know that. Just one for Tommy. Steve were right. Even though Tommy’s ball fell the right way. Will Tommy go back to corner the same the same? Yeah, go thumb peg the far corner. Will he not go? Thumb peg the far corner. The last time Steven played two good bowls, didn’t he? I mean, he would he were unlucky when he ran the jack and then he’s propped the ball, but not quite as far. We’re just preparing the equipment for any potential downpour. So, we might have to go off for a 30 seconds or so, get some umbrellas and get some uh coverage on these cameras. Jimmy, I don’t think you I think it’s a passing passing shower. It’s a passing shower. Fancy yourself as a weatherman, Jimmy. Now, when you’re retired, Nate, you’ll watch out. Oh, it looks it looks I’ve been watching test test cricket all summer so I’ve seen plenty of showers. It looks rather bleak. Yeah. How then? Tommy four foot out for a gooden. Got this. Lovely. It’s had a bit of a rough ride out the corner though. Tommy’s marching after it then. Can it finish down that hill? Not so sure it gets to a length. First ball though. Bit first ball I would think. We’re trying to encourage it on looks to have won it though, doesn’t it? Yeah. Steven further than Tommy second. It’s got to win it. Can’t fail, can it? With a clear running. It’s got to win it. Yeah. Good ball. Just as you said, Jimmy, you you kind of fancy Steven egg to win that end, didn’t you? Yeah. I was surprised Tommy went because he played what he played the previous end that went up there well. So, he knew the pace, he knew the road. So now then what you do if you’re Steven egg, you’ve just come up an edge. Tommy’s rambled into his own. Is he going is he going to come back over here again where he would probably should have been two down last time. He is. No. Back down the edge. Going to use another edge. This is a bit of a cunning edge. Couple of ridges here to deal with. finger peg again. Just going to swing off this ridge just now. Now, it’ll start turning. It’s a good bowl. Yeah, good ball. Good ball. I think Tommy’s licking his lips and thinking next if that stays there, I’m I’m going to be playing at that next end. No, that’s not good. It’s very untight even covered it. He might not even see it now. He’s played another good. Well, he’s too I think he’ll try play dead on the finger. He had the road. He just just a yard short. Oh, I think he thinks he’s narrow. Does he on length in it? Just needs a just needs a collection. Good ball. Great ball. Uh be just thinking there Steve won’t he at 1312 up. Get these two 1512. I’ve got a little bit of little bit of daylight again. He just just as in the last game he stopped stopped Steve his momentum earlier. Two fairly good balls there. Well, one one really good ball. One fairly good ball and he’s just just sat on the ball made one 13 a piece now. Good ball. He just he just produces those balls when he needs them, don’t he? just produces them and keep producing them. 13 a piece Tommy Johnson. And in the other game, Jack Clark leads 1711. Tommy thump peg to the far corner. It’s a bit of a send up there. Again, he’s short. He’s urging this on. He’s just struggling for a length here, Tommy. Yeah, he’s not jacking as good as he normally does. No. And Steven generally. Yes, Steven’s definitely playing a better length at the moment. Still got some running to do with this bowl. He goes in though. Goes in. Be a yard off. Good yard off. Oh then. Got that away. Well, and he’s definitely further. Wowee. This needs to drop the parachute out. Jimmy de too shabby. He is struggling with the length for sure. He needs to somehow find a length, Tommy. Well, he needs to find a length, but Steven makes needs to punish him now, don’t they? He need Yes. He needs to take advantage of uh of Tommy’s failings at the moment. Two easy two more easy chalks for Ste. Gifted really, they I’d love to see the car. Tommy’s conceded a whole heap of twos here and I don’t think any of those ends made Steven particularly earned them. No. Um yeah, he’s he’s going to have to scramble a length out pretty soon here. This could get away from him relatively quickly. There’s a bit of persistence with Steven going at the center at green here. Yeah. In the other game, we’ve got Jack Clark leading out finger peg in the corners, which he’s played all day. 1911. I mean, he doesn’t Oh god, he doesn’t like this one. That’s a shocker from someone 1911 up, but he is 1911 up and Tony Stevens currently trying to dig himself out of a of a rather large hole. We focusing on that one. So, we’re just going to focus on Jack Clark’s game for a for a minute or two. Um, we may see a couple of ends of um of Jack’s game at 1911 and then we’ll revert back to Tommy Johnson. Well, it’ll go a bit. Yeah, he’ll run a bit. Yeah, it will. It’s going out. Gone out. I think Tony laid shot. So, he needs to make two here. Does Tony now then made two, hasn’t it? Can’t go out the back. I think he’s going out. Yeah. Yeah. Two penith. There’s cheap two from Jack there. Jack’s played that mark all day. He’s played it pretty pretty well in truth. Um he’ll be he won’t be happy with that end, won’t Jack to concede two, let the water in there and just take the foot off the throats and what? 1913. He He’s got to find a lead, Tony, is it? He’s got to find a lead. He certainly does. and puts a couple of twos together. All of a sudden, just like the last game, it’s game on. Jack found himself in front in the last game and and then all of a sudden and then all of a sudden was uh 20 a piece. So Tony’s going to go up and over the crown. Not a very similar mark to the mark David Walker played him on earlier on this afternoon. Is it easy to be short coming out of there? Very easy. He he is short as well. This won’t get there. It’s It’s a big hill to be going up if you don’t want to pitch it up to up to the head. He’s revealed himself and he really you know he’s his thought process. Well, I I’ll catch him out going up hill and he’s he has caught him out except he’s not he’s going to go in. There’s no road. Yeah, I don’t think he’s a bit further. He is, but he’s also a narrow gym. Yeah, a bit near this bowl though, isn’t it? It’s going to go in. Not particularly brilliant, but it is a bit of a cunning mark now. Then Jack Clark thumb peg reaches the crown now up the hill. Got to miss that ball. Oh, can’t miss it. I don’t know if it’ have won it missing in truth. I don’t think it were a great ball missing. Yeah, Tony hopefully looking any chance of two. There’s potential. Two little balls. Two brilliant balls from Steven Aen the other game. Go 1714 up. He certainly does go 1714 up. Jack receiving a bit of encouragement from his couple of supporters. What the bookie and lower options number one Tony leading out 1419 behind can be sub subtly quick this way Jimmy little bit of finger peg. Yeah I mean the green’s a bit holding in it because we’ve had a lot of rain and but it’s not shabby. It’s not a shabby leader. No great lead by Tony Stevens there. Jack’s gone off to just just getting sharpish here, I think. He’s just caught Jack out here. This is too far. Needs to needs a collection. Oh, he’s got one. He’s got one. Does it all? Yeah, it’s gone in now. That’s a big That’s a big hit is that one. That’s a humongous hit. Now then, Tony slightly further. Slightly further. Goes in. Missing, doesn’t it? Oh, miss it. Yeah, it’s gone in. Gone in. Oh, gone in. Jack’s ball just fell. Just fell out a touch there. Jack’s ball. I think it will. It’ll only hold one though. Will, Tony? Jack’s got a ball for game here. Just sit that ball out the back door. It’s an identical ball to the one he’s just played. Really? Now then Jack Clark, he always inside the road to firing inside. That’s never a good place to be down there. That can’t win it. One down. It’s only just ticking his scoreboard over now. 1519. Yes. Where will he go? No, I go back to the button again. Oh, you’re right. No, he’s going to he’s going to come under the crown though. I’m going to go so far though, is he? I’m not a fan of this. I think he had Jack’s just sprayed two to the button there up that hill. It’s exact very similar mark from there as he was from from the other corner. He’s gone thumb peg under the crown. Not a not an hard mark in this. He’s going to have to ball one near that is for sure. And this this is on sight side for me. Yeah, it’s not near enough that I don’t think that’s near enough now then. Jack’s far enough. You need a connection. Does all right from the crowd, but it’s gone in. But it’s not brilliant. Still two two and a half feet. Two feet too far. Oh, now then Tony. Tony Tony’s condemned this. I think it’s game. If you heard that on coms, I would repeat it, but I won’t disagree with him. Nobody’s disagree with him. What a shocking ball. Now then Jack coming for game. Yeah, he’s Well, Jack’s tight, but I don’t I’m not so sure he’s far enough away to go out. Tight enough to win it game over. Well, you he’s wrapped them up and put him through his post box then them two. That’s That’s Meanwhile, Steven may have lived left Tommy with the two cheapens here to put Tommy back in the game at 17 across. Well, there’s been some severe malfunctions going on there. To see how far through they are from here. He’s standing an awfully long way back. He’s telling me. So completion of that game there. Jack Clark a 2115 winner. Now we’ll revert back to the Tommy Johnson Steven A game which is just gone 17 across. That is nip and I think Tommy will be particularly pleased with the fact he’s not a few behind here and chasing the game. He’s he’s 17 a piece jack in hand and not really it’s straps. It’s not similar. It is similar. I mean, to to the uh ding game, is it? I think for 80% of this game, Steven’s been the better player. Yeah, but he’s 17 across. Had enough. He’s not led a good in here either. No, he’s he’s spent half the game sending him to five, Tommy. It’s unusual. Unusual. Struggle struggled with his lead, and he normally good length player. Yeah. Well, this looks all right. Looks all right for me. He won’t want that back. Foot foot short. Room for a good Tommy persisting with a thumb. He’s staring it down. He’s stalking a little, but he’s I think he’s short. I’ve got him short. Tommy not happy. Struggling with his length here. Thomas about 15 minutes ago I said if he didn’t sort this length out he would um he’d struggle to win this game. Too old air for me. Yeah. Too old air for me. Just on tight side but it’ll make two two guns. 1917. I think the bookie will be particularly happy if Oh, he’d be praying. He’d be praying for Steven to find a good lead here. The two to five favorite from the semifinals is facing elimination. We did now then is going straight finger peg this isn’t it? Finger peg under the crown. Just squiff this out a bit, Jimmy. Honey, didn’t like that. He’s gone through all the green part of the green here and I think he’s tried to catch out Tommy and he’s caught himself out. I agree. You can you can sometimes be too crafty for your own good, can’t you? Yes, you can. Even Tommy’s Tommy’s still short, but it’s not it’s not unbeatable this type of mark is not unbeatable at all. It’s not not an hard mark. He’s got this away better. It’s definitely further. He’s too far though, ain’t he? It looks far enough. Too far. He’s going to leave it. He’s going to be looking at 19. Got a miss. Tommy’s looking at 19 a piece. Now then, Jimmy. Tommy makes two here. 19 a piece. Where you going to go? Well, if I were Tommy, I wouldn’t be going anywhere near that top corner. Oh, wow. Has he not made two? He made two. I can’t believe that. That’s the most unusual Tommy Johnson bowl I’ve ever seen. Well, it makes you wonder if Steven don’t fancy his own because he were the one who shouted pegs. I think irrelevant. I think Tommy Tom Tommy makes one in there blindfolded. No, I mean times out. I mean, he may he may well have meant to. So, so or does he just call Peg said just give yourself a little bit bit of a breather here? It’s not too It didn’t look too didn’t look too from here. I don’t maybe you are right. Maybe you were given a breather. I’m not sure. But that’s a that’s a shocking ball that makes Tommy have to win another end. Tomy’s tempted to go straight across the green here. But if he’s going into that corner, he’s going to go other peg surely. Oh, you Well, he’s gone where you told him not to, Jimmy. You had it right last time. Let’s see if you’re right again. I mean, he’s going from a different angle on the green, didn’t he? Because he’s been going in from bottom corner. Sure. Just brought the jack up a couple of yards as well, a he to the bench. He’s going to have to dig in his memory banks and find a lead. Don’t look bad, does it? If he’s a road, he’s not a road. He’s inside the land. He haven’t let a ball for half an hour. No. This is um the most unusual Tommy Johnson performance I think I’ve ever seen now. Then Steven needs to capitalize on this lead. He’s strutting after it a little. I think he’s bowled a good Yeah, it looks a good Yeah, and he’s punished just like he has been doing it. He’s if Steven does get out of this game, it will be richly deserved. I think I think he’s been the better player for vast portion of this game. Well, he’s further. Now then, now then. Now then. Now then. Oh, bit effort. Wow. Has it fallen in? I’m not sure. Steamer’s not sure. Tommy’s not sure. Steve’s wife’s not sure. No one’s sure. Oh, Tommy’s giving him it now then. Tommy had a good ball missing. Not sure why Steven’s walking up. I mean, think it looks pretty pretty obvious if you hit that ball, it goes in, doesn’t it? But I’m a fan of coming for game when you have a chance to make it. Bang on. That were my thoughts of Del. You playing somebody like the great Tommy Johnson, you might just get one one opportunity to finish him off. Come for game every day of the week. Yeah, every day of the week. He’s going to look at finger peg here. I’m going to predict he’s a yard and a half short after all this. I think he’ll try for game. I think he’ll come for game, Stephen. I think he’ll be far enough. I tell you, no short in it. Is he short? Yeah, mile short. I don’t think he’s a road either on a length. I think he’d have been under underneath on a length. Maybe I think yard and a half were uh generous. Yeah, as it turned out. I think point made Jimmy weren’t it. I think when you’ve got the chance to make make game especially, you you can live to regret that. Now then, what he give for a lead now because if Tommy wins this end, he’ll he’ll lead out for the game. And the law of average said he’s going to find a lead somewhere at some point. So now then a big big bowl for Steven this thumb peg 3/4 of the way. This is a this will be right up Tommy straight. This one it this sort of mark. Well, it’ll depend on what he’s facing. It’s not going to be brilliant. It’s not a good and by any stretch of the imagination. It’s not going to be brilliant. He did better than I thought. Yeah, it’s yard off. Good yard off that. Tommy will fancy licking that for sure. For sure. He’s He reckons he’s short. Does Tommy? You can tell by the way he’s walking after it. He’s a road but he’s not there. Oh dear. That is uh two typical how he’s played. I don’t think you’re far wrong. And now Tommy’s going to most definitely struggle to um This is certainly reaching. I don’t want to hit the back of him. Tommy got to follow that in. Just play for a length on the outside of his own bowl here. If he skirts with the road, he could quite easily get shipwrecked on his own bowl. Just got to play a length 18 inches to the back of the jack. It’s come from again. He’s not reached again. He’s not reached again. Oh wow. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. Oh, Tommy. Tommy. Tommy. What a road. Well, Steven. Yeah. Fully deserved. Yeah. With a better player. Steven Egg wins 2118 against I think the book is favorite. Everyone’s done them or done the brassing, including me. Yeah, there’s a there’s a there’s a noticeable sense of relief on Duncan’s face over there. I noticing Duncan jump out of his seat as fast as that, Jimmy. That is for sure. Um, we’ll be back live in a couple of minutes for the final between Jack Clark and Steven Hey. Final score. [Music] Welcome to the great class and qualify. Thank you. Absolutely. So we’re back live at the 2025 puty senior classic. The game just started between Steven egg and Jack Clark. Steven winning the first end and leading 1 nil. Sent the jack finger peg into this far or near left hand corner rather. and Jack currently laid shot and has turned Peg and coming for another. I’ve got Jimmy Hearn back on the commentary commentary with me for this final. Who’s your money on Jimmy? Don’t talk to me about money st I’m absolutely devastated. Semi-final back two two people winning either semi-final Tony Stevens at 10 to one and Tommy Johnson at 92. I think Tommy were two to five win the comp. Absolute disaster. disaster. I’ve got a lip on me as big as Frank Bruno. We’ve had a We’ve had a shocker. We’ve had a shocker. We’ve had a shocker. But we do have two finalist. So, we’ve got Jack Clark from South Yorkshire. Steven Egg. Lindley. Is it Lindley? Lindley lives. He’s across the mall now. Cross more now. Steven Egg. Yeah, he’s Yeah, they’re the club of the month in Yorkshire across the mall. They’re all drifting there. It won’t be a matter of time before Kingy goes. If they offer me enough money, Jimmy, I might do. You just never know. Me and Brown battling out of that number 10 spot. You just never know. Yeah, it’s gone at gamers, Josh. We had Jack Clark even money second favorite. Steven Egg, the 8 to11 jolly for this final. Bookie had a little cheshire grin on his chops. Currently sinking a couple of pints of Guinness in celebration. I think Jimmy. Yeah, he looked like they were having dripping and bread for his tea this weekend. Instead, he’s run for a posh Chinese fillet steak potentially on the menu. I heard I hate to see a bookie smiling. It’s a terrible thing. Should be banned. You never see a poor book maker. You don’t. Oh, then. Do you know he’s impressed me today, Steven? He has. He’s been steady away all day, and he Yeah, very much so. I mean, I don’t know where they are age- wise. Do you? Would you make Oh, Jack Jack about I’m not sure. You Jack about 78. We’ll ask Ryan Ryland instead of what is somebody who knew about game Ryan? Right. How old is Jack? How old is Jack? Correct. I knew I’d get I knew I’d get a straight answer out of you. That’s why you’re not on commentary background there. 72 or 73. You’ve lost count. Yeah. Well, no, he has. He’s got all Yeah, we we’ve had Ryan’s words of wisdom as ever. We’ve had we’ve had a very serious answer to a question that we’ve posted. An absolute fool. And according to Ryan, Jack’s 110 years old, but never mind. What can you do? Oh, 107. Same difference. We think Jack’s about 72, 73. Steve, he’ll be just just passing 60, won’t he? early 60s will be will be stay surely the age advantage. We’ll see I think so. He’s found another bowl there as well. He he’s the youngest vet in the lineup. I thought well in the final he is the youngest vet in the final but I think the youngest vet in the overall competition was Ernie wearing was it? Yeah. I think he’s only just turned 60. So, that’s a early 4-1 lead for um Steven. Jack will want to get in the game relatively quickly, but he also knows he’s capable with with this with the little and leading a long way. It’s Jack’s been pretty good with um with Jack in hand and leading in these corners. So, it be Steven will play a relatively short game, I imagine. Little round pegas off the crown bit like he’s doing here. 30 mters and Jack will go in a long long way. Oh, we’ve had it confirmed. Ryan’s right. He’s 107. I’m only joking. 73 apparently. So, Steven will have probably 8 to 10 years on him, I imagine, in this final. [Laughter] Now then, finger peg. Jack’s just going to meet the top of the hill here and run past. Just going to go yard. It’s a nagging little mark to the top of that ridge. He’s keeping it relatively simple though, is he Steven? Keeping it relatively simple now. I think he’s nothing particularly complex about the marks he’s playing. Just stick him round about and see if other fella can get inside you. As you said earlier, Stuart, it’s not all about putting them round the inside the block end after end, is it? It’s just got to been nearer than your opponent. Looks a good Yeah, a bit of drift at death, but it can’t get out. Did its best, didn’t it? I didn’t I didn’t I didn’t think it were going past 18 inches, I must admit. But he’s held shot two. Jack leading out too far. Do you think Jack’s game will be to lengthen him up? Yeah, he’ll go to the far corner and he’ll fire it back into the opposite corner now. I imagine he’ll he’ll continue on the thumb peg to that corner should he win the next two ends and he’ll play finger peg down towards the the entry into the uh to the club. And from what I remember last time you were on commentary, you said that it’s not particularly hard coming fingered back down. No, it’s not an hard mark. Just let it drift back down. Yeah, it’s just you just let the ball snakes a little bit, but it’s not an hard mark at all. Finger pegging today. It’s definitely the easier peg of the two. Um, but obviously there’s there’s quite a quite a big pace difference in in playing those corners. And Steven’s reached into the far corner here. Jack’s not going to catch Steven short. He’s played here copious amounts of times. Still going to go a couple of feet behind. Similar sort of lead to what Tommy were playing against him, won’t it? Yeah. Yeah. I don’t think it got to be tighter than that surely. Yeah. Well, he’s a lot further. He is. It goes out the back door missing. Needs a prop. Not got one. See Steve coming for two. Interesting. Jack Jack Jack’s going to play a very similar game to Tommy here, which Tommy failed with. Yeah. At the moment, he’s jacking like Tommy did. Yeah. And he’s he’s going to be too down. Gobbled it up again. Gobbled it up. Don’t have to be close. Yeah. Just make sure you’re far enough. He’s That’s what he’s done well today, Steve. I I know he’s plenty of room to make two there, but he’s he’s consistently made two when when being allowed to make two. It’s almost bonus chops really when you’re given so much room. You think, “Oh, I’ll throw one in there.” And all of a sudden, you just take your mind off off the game a little bit and you you end up not not making two. And he’s sticking with his planer going to same part of the green all the time, isn’t it? Yeah. He’s just he’s a bit shorter than what he’s been. He can, you know, he’s a four-point advantage. You know, if he wins this, he can play slightly dep slightly defensive in terms of being prepared to lose the jack in certain positions. He’s splitting the green though. Splitting the green. He’s got a good lead here. Really good lead. The 8 to11 favorite started well. Now then trying his jack if he’s on a road. Needs to miss a short ball, doesn’t he? Yeah, he’s just got to be out outside that bowl. It were a real but may just have gone out. Yeah. Don’t win out for me. I I think Steven’s first ball’s in. Referee psycho not being called to the green to have a look. No. And he he got he got a measure wrong today, didn’t he? That’s unheard of. Unheard of. Good ball. Great ball. Makes a pair. It’s for me. No. Two for me all day long. I feel like this is a big end already. Looks like two. One one. Well, that’s deceiving looking at it from where we are. It certainly is. Jack playing finger pegging. He just must have a chance in on the side ball. Oh, that might have made a difference. That might have made a difference. Looked awfully close. Steven egg body language says you’ve not you give me another one. Yeah. Two penn. Yeah. I just think that might have been a big end. Yeah, Jack a bit disconulate throwing that jack in uh the mat in there. A little bit unlucky there. To be fair, he’s never he’s never the happiest of folk, is he? You want to be playing poker with him. You wouldn’t know if he’s holding pocket aces or 72. He’s come a long way since he used to be get in his bagman, haven’t he? Oh, he’s a good player, Jack. Good player. Certainly a certainly a good player. Now then, Steven a thumb peg to the top corner. Just steady away in it. Another good lead. Not we’re not playing difficult marks here. We’re playing relatively simpish marks. All about pace. All about pace. Now then. Now then. Is he just inside the land? It’s a good ball. Great ball. Great ball. Now then. Good ball by Jack. But there’s a bolt a leg on it, ain’t there? There’s a bolt leg on. Well, Steve will attack. Right ball to attack on the peg. He’s leaning. Must be narrow. Yeah, he’s just gone early. Yeah. How then? JP cheered on by his band of merry men from South Yorkshire. He’s underneath here. Yeah. One down. Good effort. Not a bad effort. Turning the bias just yard to far. So you’re you’re predicting finger pegging at this bottom corner. Yeah, I think he’ll come finger peg bottom corner. Can’t see him going anywhere else. He’ll take a yard with a mat. No, he won’t. Oh, got that wrong. I’ve got the finger peg bit right. Is he set a bit higher than I thought he would do? Yeah, he’s not come as low as I thought. I agree. Interesting. Now then, pace looks okay on the road. Is it on the road, Jimmy? It’s not shabby. It’s not a shabby ball at all. Just a just a touch to back. Yeah, just a touch to back off the road. That’s all. It’s not a bad good length bullet. Yeah, not bad. Not bad from at this distance over this over this mark. Quite easily quite easy to throw it inside off. Yeah, Steven’s strength is that he’s he’s reached every time somebody’s put him in corners and he’s done it again and he’s bowled a real and smoker smoker. Very good. Very good. Now then, if you’re if you’re if you’re Jack here, I’m not saying he will have watched the other game, but at one point or other, Jack was was was fairly comfortable and if he’ have paid attention, he would have he would have noticed Steven was particularly good over this distance against Tommy. He’s he’s reached into the corner every played very few short balls. Watch him ball one now, but he’s played very few short balls into the corners. Well, he’s not passing the jack. Jimmy might be far enough to count another though, Stuart. Just going to meet that ridge now. Yeah. One down. You were right. Commentator’s curse there. No, I think he’s not going to over pitch it with his second, is he? He’s no danger or anything. He should should have reached. No doubt. But I think there’s got to be a plan B potentially a plan C involved here for Jack. Well, he’s he’s just going to cut the green in half again in there. Yeah, I think I mean the jack and the balls, they don’t come out the best I’ve ever seen, do they? But certainly effective. I don’t think that jack came out particularly well there. That’s a bit That’s a lot shorter than Steven’s been playing. And if he gets his ball out of his short, it’s over adjusted. I think he could been right. I think I think I think that Jack wanted a couple more yard. Yeah, I do. I do. This certainly passes. It’s uphill now. Now back downhill from there. Good ball. Not so bad. Gone in. Done her job. Not in the way though. That’s the advantage. Jack looking to Ryan for words of uh encouragement. Just Well, new winner for me. Yeah. On the road, it’s the winner. No doubt about that. Good ball. Good ball. Finger peg runner incoming. Steven’s guide. Steven’s bowl will be a guide. Jacko bowl. He looked to just miss that short ball. He’s never given one. Just the one. Definitely not two. Oh then. 103. Just turning a bit chilly now, but we’ve done well to avoid the rain all day. We got the organizer below us, Stuart Hansen. What a fine man. The heartbeat of Putsy. Best green cutter in the family. Cheapest. Cheapest green. Cheapest green cutter in the family. Wonder if Lloyd gives him minimum wage. I’m not so sure. I don’t think I don’t think you even get him a bacon sandwich. Run away. Run away. Does he buy you a bacon sandwich and a cup of tea in the mornings? 4 foot off. Floyd, sort it out. Got to look after your old man now. Then finger peg down the crown. Good road to get past that short ball. Just needs a length. Very good ball. Still room inside it. I just got a silly route. He’s just settling onto a length jack now. I feel certainly put more in this. This is an aggressive ball. It’s an attacking shot. Short ball over prop. Just square out. Just square out. Looks like Jack’s still in and room for another. Yeah, I feel like Jack’s just just getting settled into this final now, which is odd at 103 down and lost the last end, but the ball seem to be going a lot nearer down a road to a length. There you go. Look, he’s just settling into this final is Jack. be interesting if he changes his game and and sort of like dumps the the plan about going in the corners and now I’d be interesting to see him come towards us finger peg down straight straight down this crown he’s no he’s not going to change his mind here is he’s going to straight for that corner again thumb no he is oh no he’s changed his mind again still sticking with plan A he’s sent this jack you know it’s slowing down ain’t Yeah, it be pulling up now, won’t it? Now then, finger peg underneath the crown. Couple of ridges. Got it out. Nice. Got it out. Nice. Couple of ridges to deal with now. Just going to go downhill from here in. Good lead here. The crowd certainly like it. Not so bad. Going to be 15 in short. Something like that. Just over a foot short. The one thing he’s not doing is he’s letting Jack napp in for length really. This is probably the first short bowl he’s played. Yeah. And he might just be short enough to win it. Is it won it? That’s won it. That has won it. Good ball. He’s done that all day, Stephen. When someone’s changed the length, moved to a different bit of land, he’s narrow now. It’s a no ball, ain’t it? Yeah. Short, narrow. Everything’s wrong with this. [Music] He’s done that well, Stephen. He’s not been short with a great deal. There’s not a lot of danger here in counting another, is there? He can He can play a little bit big. And he has done. He’s a good He’s a good land again here. Very good land. Length looks okay. Is he going to get to I think he’s just done out. I think it’s just dung out. Yeah. Safe side though. He didn’t want to be inside the land. Yeah, why not? It’s a fair enough ball. If it had got to just got to a length another six or eight inches, it might have counted that. He’s just got the length of the green though, he seems to have the length short anything, is he? Like Tommy continually over pitched at ends and and Steven’s Steven’s reaching, but he’s not overreaching. Be interesting to see if the jack goes a couple of yard further than last time cuz I didn’t think Yeah, I didn’t think he got the jack out well last time. No, not at all. He won the end, but I think this is more of the the intending to play. Yeah, 100%. It’s integral part of the game is uh putting the jack where you want it. There’s not many that can do it. No. Bricksmith the best without a shadow of a doubt by a street. Yeah, it’s when when that jack goes where where he wants it. Yeah. It ends up being two to Greg more than half the time. So He’s the best in the game. I think Jack out short coming out. Yeah, Jack getting frustrated. Yeah, a bit of emotion there. I just think it come away a bit bad. Um fatigue maybe setting in a touch. Um but this ain’t going to be out a bit bigger. No, it’s it’s not a great ball. It’s okay. Oh, it’s probably two foot off. He’s a lot tighter. Tighter on the tight line. He needs to stop to count. Got to stop to count. Probably gone out, do you think? Yeah. Yep. Good shout. Good shout. If it have played the road, it’ have won it just inside the land. Now then, 125. I think that’s a matche defining lead, Jimmy. I’m afraid. I think Steven will protect this lead throughout now. kind of surprised he’s coming back into that. I’d have thought he’d have gone over straight across the grass doctor. Fine. Yeah, just just gone over the top of the crown. Mind you, he’s just altered that length six or eight yards from the last jack. So, just bringing it back a touch again. Not not a particularly difficult mark. No, length’s good again. He’s dropped on a length here. Dropped on a length. I’m just going to go a touch. Good ball. Not bad. Not bad, is it? Decent enough. Fing. He’s making him play one, is he? He’s making him play. Certainly is. This wants to stop. Hands on hips, Jack. Here it is. He’s not exactly shaking head time, but if you’re a Jack Clark backer, it’s not something you’re you want to see, is it? No. Steve’s going to pass the jack again here. Same ball, isn’t it? Basically. Yeah. Same ball, just a touch further. Want a yard out, Jack Clark? Same road. Yard out. needs to lick these to have any chance. Yeah. Yeah. Take his time. Just focus up. He sent it. Yeah. Winner. Are you sure? As long as it’s on a road. As long as it’s on a road. Don’t w it. It’s narrow legs. Good as well. Nearly leaves a pair. Oh. Dear O dear, he says and dear O is right. Played a length and missed the road, missed the land. I think Jack thought his first ball was was to back and it wasn’t. It was just a yard too far. Oh then, back finger peg up to where we’ve just been. 135. This match defining Jimmy. Gone a bit gone a bit further. just altered it by maybe a yard and a half, two yards. This is good this because he knows Jack’s, you know, just tweaking the land a little bit. Also tweaks the line and he’s napped himself a little bit here. But he Jack Jack’s always playing a different mark here. It’s time It’s time he got in though, isn’t it? It’s time he got in. He needs to get in. Well, he’s far enough. Not bad on road, is it? If he’s on the road, it’s not so bad. if he’s on the road. He still haven’t murdered it though, has he? You know, he’s gone in, but won’t be enamored with that one. That did a bit of wobbling. Steven’s not even looking at it, but which normally means it’s a fair ball. Yep. Good. Gone in. Not in. Jack’s not just just not punishing these leads. We have a look at other peg here. Yeah, I think he’ll have a look at other peg. Not so sure he needs to, but I think he could. Yeah, his other peg. He’s played a runner. I’m surprised at that. Oh, what a ball. Big ball. That’s a brilliant bowl. That’s a brilliant bowl. Found he found a brilliant ball when he needed to most. Now then 13-7. He’s got to follow it up now with the lead. He does. I’m not so sure where he’s going to go though, Jimmy. I think No, if you go to that top corner there on right hand side, that’s where Tommy lost all his chalks there. Really? He’s looking at it. He don’t seem to have a plan B at all, does he? He’s sticking with it. I’d like to see him go the full width of length of the green, you know. There we go. Now, now then. Oh, it’s not as far as I thought he might send it if I’m honest. But it’s new land in it. It’s new land. Slightly inside the crown. But it’s um Can you Can you get big here then it’ll come down? Yeah, if you get a touch big it’ll finish on bias. No danger of that. He’s a good bowl here on a length. Lad one. He’s a good bowl here. Good ball. Good l good length. Good lead. He needed it. He did. It’s not an overly hard mark for for sure. But um he’s not traveling as fast, is it? It’s short, isn’t it? Yeah. Roaded to death and all. No. Then just playing something a bit shorter, a bit more simply gives him a bit of confidence to put a couple of ends together. Iggy can’t just reach into them corners. Then he’s in Has he sent this? Yeah, it makes another. It makes another. You can tell them. Good ball. Not entirely. No, there’s still room around there. Still room round. Steven’s looking at a strike here. You know, you’re looking at a strike. Certainly contemplating something. It must if he’s coming the other peg, it must be a must be a runner or a strike of some description. Yeah, good shout. Yeah, it’s a bit of a send at the end and a bit of hope, I think. No underneath. Two pennies to Jack. Now then Jack’s a Desmond 913. Game on all of a sudden. I think sometimes you can get stuck in the I’m going for this and that’s that and I’m going to I’m going to die on my own sword sort of thing if it don’t work. I like what Jack’s done there. Just tweaked up the length. Use used the crown properly and he can go back over it now. You can’t just pitch him up to it and and send him firing a f over these types of marks. And you could argue that the the fault of in Tommy’s game on, you know, I mean, who am I to tell Tommy Johnson what to do when he only a bowling green, but he kept getting licked in that corner and he kept going back. Absolutely. Jack’s going to be a touch tight here. Not so bad. It’s not so bad, but it’s not again much harder going over the the top of the crown, but he’s just played just off the side of it here. Allows Ay a little bit of a chance to whip the peg if needs be. He’s he reckons he’s narrow here. He is narrow and he is too far. Turn his back on it now. He’s going for another two here. Think about it all. He’s he’s on a length now, isn’t he? Last couple of events, he’s bowled a length. That’s exactly right. when when when Agy was playing certain marks early 10 minutes ago, Jack was playing particularly well to a length and Jack had no real reason to change that length. That’s why Steven I think was was fiddling around with the length of that little round peg. I know he got a few points but none the ends weren’t particularly brilliant. No. And this is a big end as well now. Now then I’ve got this slightly tight. Have I? And I’ve got it not too far. Well, it can’t be any can’t be any good then. There you go. Two more. Two. Two. Two. All of a sudden, 1113. Let’s say over the crown. Jimmy. It’s Well, we give him the shout, didn’t we? Try to pass on our years of experience to these balls. Yeah. How How do you teach an old dog new tricks? Dear me. You don’t. [Laughter] They still They still we same lampost. They always we don’t now then thumb peg again back to where where he once were couple of minutes ago. Be a length is the shout from the crowd. He’s just going to pull slightly tight. He is a length as well. And again, it’s another length ball. Balls. Yeah, length balls. If you’re continually playing a length, it’s uh really really difficult for someone else to to beat them, I think. Might be having a look here. Or is it too big? It’ll finish. It’ll finish on bias. Just gone. Just gone in. Jo did him. Is that your prediction? Yeah, I’ve got him short. Yeah, he’s short. He’s short. But I think Steven wants to make two here. Just put a little bit pressure back on Jack. Well, he’s far enough. He’s certainly far enough. Oh wow. He can’t nick the pig, can he? What’s an aggressive shot? No. Then he’s let him off here. Jack can win this end. It’s game on. I think I think there’s a bit of frustration there with Steven because on on the one hand he’s won the end. On the other hand, he thinks I should have made two there. Made two. You know, it’s put that gap there again. Yeah, Jack’s narrowed narrowed that advantage. You know, Steven a what was he in front earlier? About eight or nine chalks in front. Something like that. Well, certainly six or seven. Yeah, Jack just narrowed it to three. He’ll try to win a couple of He’ll try to win this end and a couple more off the back of it. Get level and then see where he gets to from there. Not a great lead here. No. Interesting. Now, is it Steven looking for the corners? Yeah, I think Steven at the moment, even though he’s holding a three shot lead, he looks the more frustrated of the bowlers. He didn’t like this, didn’t Jack, when he sent it. He like it better when it stops. Yeah. Well, it’s certainly not a bad. I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know what’s going on. Certainly didn’t like that one when he sent it. Is he just a guesser? Well, maybe there’s a bit of mind games going on, Jimmy. I’m not so sure. Is he just a What a good effort this is, by the way. What a good effort this is. It’s not won it. It’s not won it though. Jack is still holding shot. We’ll come for two. Real good effort by Stevie there. I don’t think he’s got any danger here going up for another, has he? He’s not got much danger. No, unless he’s absolutely buzzed, but he’s not buzzed. It’s nearly a railing. It’s nearly a railing. Just got a peg. Just got a peg. Brilliant bowl by Jack Clark again there. Good ender balls. Stevens lead just cost in there a little bit. Wow. Never. That’s never won. Is it? Which one’s in? They’re both front one, wasn’t it? We’re looking over top at Jack, are we? So, obviously the the red disc is further through than we we thought. I think Jack thinks it’s only one as well. Well, I’ve already given Jack two. He’s putting them on. Put the pegs on. That’s it. So he’s taken the shot out. I can’t say we can’t be two. Even with that ball out, I think it’s in. Yeah. Two. Two. Then these wet these vets, you’ve got to watch them. If you’re in themfield vets or Bradford vets leagues, you always need a check. It’s very unusual to see somebody a Stevens experience signaling so positive. I mean, it’s not a con man, is it? I mean, if you would have done it, for instance, I’ I’d have fully expected. See, now he’s stereotyping, Jimmy. Do you know what I mean? Yeah, but I’ve known you. I’ve known you a lot of years. I might be a bit of a crook, but I could tell from here that were two. Now then, 1314 leading out. Similar mark to what Steven has been playing though. You’ve never been in the flicker class as a crook, have you? No. No. I need I need to sign up to that membership. Flicker and Jimmy Derby. Wow. Oh, I once got Jimmy Derby. [Laughter] You live and learn when you make mistakes. I won’t make them mistakes ever again. Now then, Jack Clark’s caught him short again here. Coming for two and the lead. Now then, there’s a game on, Jimmy. There is a game on. All of a sudden, that that lead’s been eroded very quickly. He’s whoosh this out. Jack Jack’s talking to Steven now. All of a sudden, we’re talking. We’re rocking and rolling. Don’t fall for it. Ignore him. Oh, this is a negative ball, Jimmy. This to me, this is a negative ball whether he wins it or not. Whether he wins it or not. Wow. Noner. Noner with a level game, ladies and gentlemen. 14 across. To me, Jimmy, that was one and a finger peg runner or or a strike or a runner of some description. There’s no way Jack Clark could have played that bowl. I think when you’ve had that lead, which he’s had, I think he’s slightly gone on the defensive. Well, needs to run and run. It’s a good lead by Jack. Great lead again. We’ve coming across this crowd, Jimmy. It’s what a clambering uh Tommy Johnson to do in the last game and Jack Jack’s finally good word that clambering. Clambering for him to do it. If I couldn’t have gone and told him I would have done, but we have to be impartial, Jimmy. Yeah. Go for two again. Sad when you’ve got your brass on to be impartial. Well, you know, we still got to be try trying partial to some regard. All be it me pocket speaking. Yeah, Jack’s asking it to run. It’s plenty far enough around the back. Laid one shot. Now then, would you play at that? Certainly would. Certainly would. You got to be positive. You can’t win if you’re not positive. his finger peg and it’s a runner. A couple of yards too far. Pop that ball out lay two. He’s played exactly that shot. Jimmy well is the cry from the side. It’s going begging. Yeah, played safe on the inside which is a safe side. One Jack Clark in the lead 1514. I think that’s probably the first time since first end he’s been in front. Probably is actually. Yeah, I reckon first couple of ends definitely. I reckon you’re right. We’ve got a couple of hundred people watching here. 222 at this moment in time. Thank you for tuning in and watch this final come to uh its conclusion. You got any questions, please feel free to put them in the chat. We’ll have a look. And thank you again to Dave Parky for providing some uh historical information in terms of comp winners and debuts. I’m reliably informed by Mr. Parkin himself that since 1946 the good lead are the only grandfather father and son to get capped by Yorkshire. So just dribbled it just dribbled a yard there. It looked better. Got running up to start there for the H family. I’m sure it’s a very proud one. Back to the game with a couple of feet to far. Got one looking here. Got one in the vicinity. Yeah, it’s probably won it, but you’d expect Jack to Jack reckons he’s shorty and I don’t think he is. I’m not so sure he is. I think he’s being honest. I think I think he’s honest. He is he is short. Oh. Oh, he is. Yeah, you’re right. I thought we were conning him for a moment. Oh, Jack. Is Steven definitely in there, do you think? Yeah. Well, he set it high enough that he can’t do any damage. It’s winner. He’ll finish on bias now. Just just round off at Crown. That’s nearest two penn 1615 again. That that’s a big end having had such a big lead. Steve didn’t want to go three or four chalks behind there. No. And on the other hand, if Jack had got on that end, he suddenly there’s a gap in it and and Steve thinking am I letting how am I letting this slip? How this happened? Yeah. The thing is with him conceding all them twos on the trot, it happened relatively quickly. Jack’s Jack had full momentum. So that’s a big end in my book. To be fair, they’re both old. They’re probably wondering where Matron is at this time of night. I can’t make them jokes, Jimmy. You can being 70 odd. Yeah, you can get away with it when you’re old. You’re allowed to be politically incorrect. No. Wants to stop. Needs to stop. Not going a long way, mate. No, it’s not going. It’s not. But it’s Uh, it’s okay. It’s done a job, but it’s no more than that. Not straight peggier. Is he underneath? They don’t pick up hills, Jimmy. I know that for a fact. Now then. Oh, they’re both letting the water in now. Yeah, you’d expect it as well to a certain extent. Um, well, it’s paired for me. Paired for me. Now then two pen for Jack Clark back in front 1716. I mean I don’t know if there were any truth in the rumor that Stuart was thinking about putting a commode in each corner with the fact that we got one or two seniors of St. James ambulance and the defer on standby. Oh definitely. Yeah. He’s looking it. He’s called a jack. Is that Jack? I don’t know. is probably talking to Ay and just playing a few mind games. When when you’re when you’re when you’re of a certain age, Jimmy, it’s not there’s not many mind games you want been uh involved with. I think I think it’s always funny me that you can play somebody and there’s not a word spoken and then they go be a bit behind. They suddenly want to be your best friend, don’t they? Oh yeah, absolutely. Well, we’ve all been there. Yeah. Suddenly want to be your best friend and all the best do it. Yeah. Then you’re chatting it next next time you look. Your lead’s gone now. Then this is not far enough, is it? Is it far enough? It might just going to meet that crest of a hill. It might just gravel in, but it’s it’s not a great bowl, is it? No. Two not so good balls there. Now then, oh, this is further. This is definitely further. Certainly. Well, Jack’s condemned it. Says it’s off the green. Can’t go out, can it? Can’t go out. It’s going to hold shot. Not a brilliant ball, but it’s good enough at the moment. About a yard behind the jack. It’s as little as a little bit further here, Jimmy. Yeah, it wins it for me. Wins it all day long. Yeah, good ball. Good ball. 17 a piece. First to four. See, it’d be interesting now at this stage of the game. Does one dare have the ball to lengthen it up? We’ve just had 25 minutes now. Balling 30 meters. I I think if I’m Steven A here, I’m going firing it straight into that far right corner. I think he’s got your earpiece on. Yeah, that’s where we’re going, Jimmy. Yeah. And it’s the right time to do it, is it? At 17 a piece, you’ve just been spent what, 20 minutes bowling more or less same length. Yeah, I think now’s the time for for for another change. Try and go win the game. Absolutely. There’s no good coming off the going, “Oh, I should have done this. I should have done that.” Could have, should have, would have. Oh, I’ve done that many a time. And he’s led one. He’s led one. Not so bad. Won’t be at last bowl. Oh, that took a running jump, didn’t it? That did take a running jump. I can’t see this getting to the jack, can it? Well, I don’t think he would ever on a road either. Well, he’s tight. He’s on tight tighter side again. But they’re to lick, aren’t they? They’re to lick. I think he’s all right. He’s just short, is he? Just short. big bowl. This now is a very big ball. That come away better. Jack’s condemned it. Says it’s probably not there. It’s If it’s inside that short ball, it’s a chance. Oh, he’s got wrecked off the short ball. Big hit. Don’t think it will win in the end, but certainly saving. He paid the price, didn’t he? He paid the price for his first ball. Certainly has. 1917. Two to Steven egg. Now then, does he go into the corner or does he go straight across the middle of the green? He goes finger peg to where he’s been all day. Three quarters. I think that’s where I think he’ll go. I don’t think he’ll send it in this far corner. It’s a brave man that sends it into this far corner. I think he’s going in. Looks like it, doesn’t it? Well, then I don’t think Jack could be dissatisfied with this. No. And like you said earlier, he’s gone in the easier peg as well. He’s gone in the easier peg to the easiest to almost the easiest part. It’ll take a good bowl to win this end. No matter how far how far of a distance this may appear, it’s not a particularly hard mark. Well, not so bad this. No, it’s a it’s a good bowl. It’s a good bowl. Not good. Bit unlucky. Bit unlucky because he’s he’s actually made a bit of a target, hasn’t he? Yeah. I’m not so sure that’s good enough. I think Jack will get close to this, if not win it. Well, he’ll certainly be at it, you would think. Is he inside the land? He’s inside the land. Can’t reach Jack. Can’t reach the jack. That’s a bit of a poor ball that he’s played this Mark all day. He should know that the the ball will fall, but not not a yard or so. That’s a That’s a poor bowl. This is going to lay a game. This, isn’t it? Is it? Yep. Made to made two. Oh, Jack. Jack is sent this to the moon. This needs a collection. This needs to hit some on its way through. You can tell him he’s close to the jack. He’s very close to the pig. Done the gap. Two more. Two to it. Yeah, good performance. He’s been the he’s been the most consistent player all day. Yeah, very consistent. The bookie had it right. 8 to1 11 jolly for that final and he’s produced a favorites performance there. He’s given absolutely nothing away and fully deserved win for Steven. That concludes the 2025 Putsy senior class. We hope we all enjoyed it. And again, just to repeat the score, Steven Egg is your champion, winning 2117 against Jack Clark. Thank you for listening.
