Sergio Garcia has taken to social media to reveal he shot a round of 12-under 58 just a week before the start of the 2025 Ryder Cup.

LIV Golf superstar Garcia, 45, was overlooked one of Luke Donald’s six captain’s picks on the European Ryder Cup team at Bethpage in New York.

The Spaniard, who remains the record top scorer in Ryder Cup history with 28.5 points to his name, won his second LIV Golf title in Hong Kong earlier this season in March.

But in the eyes of Donald, who spoke to GolfMagic at the British Masters last month, Garcia failed to build enough momentum over the summer with which to force his hand for a pick.

While understanding of Donald’s decision, Garcia was disappointed to miss out on what would have been a joint-record 11th appearance on the European Ryder Cup team.

After learning his fate, Garcia immediately pulled out of the Irish Open on the DP World Tour so he could “recharge the batteries” at home with his family.

Garcia revealed all in an exclusive interview with GolfMagic after Donald’s six picks were confirmed to the world.

Rory McIlroy then had his say on Garcia’s absence from The K Club.

Instead of competing in the Irish Open, Garcia and his wife Angela were seen watching their good friend and tennis ace Carlos Alcaraz at the US Open.

Alcaraz, who went on to defeat Jannik Sinner in the final, also played a round of golf with Garcia that week.

In a further exclusive interview with GolfMagic, Garcia told us Alcaraz got the upper hand on him as well.

Fast forward to this week though, and Garcia was back to his brilliant best on the golf course during a round at Austin Golf Club.

Garcia took to social media to reveal his magical round of 58, which featured 12 birdies on the card.

He went out in 28 and came back in 30.

According to Garcia’s scorecard, he was playing off a +8 handicap.

Garcia was playing alongside his friends Steve Speares, Bubba Nickle and Todd Rader.

“Not like the hole in one I made against Lee Westwood in Austin in 2021, but super special to shoot 58 with my buddies Steve Speares, Bubba Nickle and Todd Rader 9/18/25 Austin Country Club!” Garcia wrote on Instagram.

With the LIV Golf season now in the books, Garcia is next expected to tee it up on the DP World Tour at his home Open de Espana from 9-12 October.

Earlier this week, Garcia and his wife Angela announced the fourth annual edition of their golf charity event, FORE Kids ATX, taking place from 6-7 November.

The two-day gala and golf fundraiser benefits children and families across Texas.
