Hello and welcome to another Golf FM bag review. This time it is on the Tailor Made short course carry bag. That’s that little bit of material curled up in a ball on the table there. It’s h not the easiest thing to display, has to be said. So, this is Tailor Made’s attempt at a small lightweight holiday bag or 9hole bag, but also fits a full set. All right. And they’ve done it deliberately in a retro style. Okay. Now, I’ve had this bag for ages. Don’t know how long. I don’t even want to think about it. And I’m about to do a video of it. And I’m probably going to make it even harder for myself to sell it is what’s going to happen. I can just see it coming a mile off. I’m going to shoot myself in the foot once again. It’s hard enough to sell and I’m going to make it harder. But here we go. Anyway, because it’s in the interests of honesty and truth and golfers need to know what’s good and what’s bad. And like I’m getting into the habit of doing now, I’m going to tell you the result early on. And I haven’t been through this with a fine tooth comb, but my hunch is that the result is not looking good for this. I’ll do what I did last time and I’ll leave a gap. So, if you don’t want to know the result, look away now. Yeah, it’s not good. I’m not sure quite why it exists. Right. So, some of you know the result, some of you don’t. I respect you for looking away and not listening. It’s more that you don’t listen. Actually, I should have said don’t listen now and don’t look. So, we’ve got a short course carry bag in a sort of 1985, probably older than that that this sort of style of bag came out, but I sort of remember this style of bag as one of my first ever golf bags. Gosh, my arm’s getting sore holding up. Can I just leave it like that? It was a Wilson one and it was made out of this sort of material and because they hadn’t invented double straps and lightweight materials and stands and all the rest of it, but Taylor made have gone back to this. So the first thing about it is it has no structural rigidity whatsoever. So it just folds down into a heap like that. And that to me is not a good thing. That the only good thing about that is you can store it in a cupboard in your house and it doesn’t take up a lot of space. So it’s made of can I just sorry the price of this is I’ve got £129 but I’ve just looked online and they’re selling it for £ 109 just about everywhere. So fat chance I was going to sell it 129. So that’ll have to come down in price. So thanks for that internet. Materialwise I wanted to tell you about this because it is made of one of the things they mentioned was mix of materials but one of them was ballistic nylon. Now that was of interest to me ballistic nylon. And I looked it up. I’ll get my phone. Where’s my soding phone gone? Where have I put my phone? I’ve lost my phone. Thanks very much. I’ve lost the phone. I’ve lost my phone in the middle of an middle of a video. I had it as well cuz I was going to I was going to read from it. This is really helping the video get done, isn’t it? Lost my phone. Where have I put it? Where have I put it? Not up there. Not up there. Not up there. Oh, come on. That’s That’s an absolute mystery. Right on my phone. Well, I had this all written on my phone and now I’ve lost my phone. I’m going to be worrying about the whole video now. I’ll let you know in the credits if you stay till the end whether I find my phone or not. All right. Absolutely no idea what it is. Anyway, I scribbled it out on a bit of paper about the ballistic nylon cuz this is hilarious. Lightweight ballistic nylon originally developed by Dupont during World War II for use in military flack jackets to protect airmen from flying shrapnel. So that’s been used in a golf bag now. So any flying shrapnel may not harm your golf balls or your bottle of juice. So you might have a chance. Although having said that, unlike Kevlar, it doesn’t stop bullets. It was found ineffective against actual ballistic threats. Well, I could have told them that probably at the time that that didn’t feel like it was going to stop a bullet or shrapnel for that matter, but at least I had a go. At least they had a go at developing something. And what’s happened now is it’s been used in a golf bag a long time later to add weight to the golf bag. So that’s what that’s achieved. Congratulations to Dupont. So this is 1.1 kg which is not particularly light for something like that. The moonlight which I’ve got over there is 1 kg. So it’s a little bit less. It’s not a ton of weight but it’s not feather light. And this this bit is really topheavy. This bit feels really heavy up here near the top. So that’s an overview of how bad it is. It’s not waterproof. Even think about that. Nothing is nothing good like that would happen on this. On the top we’ve got one, two, three-way divider, I suppose you could call that. And no actual separation whatsoever. Not even attempted it. So thanks for nothing there. And then we’ve got a handle. Well done. Congratulations on having a handle. and a really heavy strap with a big buckle on it and various bits to change the buckle on. And the to be fair to the strap, it’s quite padded. Well done. And then the pockets. This is going to be over in a flash. I will put a set of clubs in it to show you as well, but I just wanted to go through the pockets first of all. So, the main pocket at the back for clothing. Quite a lot of room in there for a small bag. Well done for that. That is actually good. That is actually good. It’s got more storage than the Peg Moonlight for example. And then uh to the main pockets got a massive long zip and they’re actually quite big. Well, that one’s short. That’s obviously a TE’s. That would be so annoying that pocket. It would feel like if you’re putting TE’s in it, you’d have to have it at a certain angle or everything would start falling out of it. Um, so yeah, probably the traditional way that they were made when nobody had a clue how to make anything back in the day and they’ve just gone with it for tradition’s sake. And that that is it. It doesn’t have a rain hood. So this is the only bag I know of pretty much that doesn’t have a rain hood. Now strike that comment from the record. Me the Ping Moonlight doesn’t have a hood either. So some of the really small lightweight Sunday bags don’t. Probably most of them. Probably all of them don’t have rain hoods, so don’t expect one. And that’s it. The base is irrelevant because it won’t stand up on a trolley anyway. And now I’m going to put some clubs in it. Just Just spotted my phone. Panic’s over. Just spotted my phone. There we go. It’s on the bench by the shoes. Right. So, let’s get these in. So, this has got 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 clubs in it. And no balls or drinks or anything in there just now. Oh, I know that. I know that you would have a little bit of stuff in there, but you’ actually It feels very topheavy cuz this cuff at the top, this cuff here is the tonest weight of the whole thing. And then you’re adding the golf club weight as well. So it feels like it wants to tip up in the air and you have to physically hold it down. So you’re applying pressure there the whole time. Not a good point that it has to be said. You would actually have to probably have to buy like ballast like gold bars and stuff to go in here if you didn’t want to have to hold it down all the time. So not impressed with that. But it does actually go in. The clubs all do go in fine. And there’s a lot more space than there is in some of these small holiday Sunday bags and all that type of thing. So good from that point of view. You could also hold it like that and it’s sort of trying to tip up in the area of well even at that point. It’s just why this needs to exist. I don’t actually know. There’s perfectly good bags like the Moonlight and the Adios Funday bag. It’s another one I’ve done a video on. I’ve done a video of the Moonlight and I’ve done one in the Funday bag. And I’ve also done the Moonlander. It’s another good one. That’s a slightly different animal to this, but still a small bag. So, yes, not at all impressed with this at £109, which doesn’t help me out. It helps you out. It’s at least not that expensive, but to be honest, it shouldn’t it shouldn’t even be over that. It’s actually quite a bit more expensive than I would have hoped it was. that if that was £59 or something then you could think well well tailor made back £59 just good for nine holes that sort of thing but no it’s 109 and that’s and it should be more than that it’s got three colors currently at the moment there’s a white one and a sort of greeny one and I think they use slightly different logos on the different colors which is a strange thing to do but that’s something that they’ve done I think it probably looks slightly better in some of the other colors although white would probably drive you mental and the green one’s a bit weird looking in my opinion. But anyway, that’s horses for courses and all that. So, that is it. Then the verdict is what I said earlier on and that is that it’s not good. It’s not a good bag. It’s slightly heavy. The old-fashionedness of it is and having a retro style bag, the downsides outweigh that style element to me because I I don’t even think it looks particularly good if I’m being honest. Like some things if they’re they’re not particularly effective or welldesigned, but they actually look good. Well, then you’ve bought it because you like how it looks. Well, congratulations if you think that looks good. But I don’t. But hopefully there’s somebody out there that wants this or hasn’t had one since they were 5 years old in the 1970s or something and wants to go back to that style of bag and doesn’t think all the new fangled lightweight spread in the weight double strap nonsense should be allowed should be outlawed then it might suit somebody like that. How I’m going to sell it I have no idea especially now I’ve done a video on it saying it’s not good. Just again, like I’ve said before, praying praying that nobody watches YouTube and sees this video cuz it’s extremely stressful when somebody does come in and shows an interest in something that I’ve done a video on that I’ve said is not good. And you know what am I supposed to do? Oh, by the way, watch my video on this saying it’s rubbish. I’m not going to sell it doing that. So, I have to hope and pray and it feels slightly bad that they don’t watch YouTube. And if if ever the person that buys this stumbles upon my review and you have my sincerest apologies. So hopefully it’s just a case of they pick it up and bring it to the counter and I don’t have to say a word. That would that my conscience would be clear at that point. But otherwise, you know, I will still slightly struggle to sleep at night if somebody buys this. And hopefully somehow, fingers crossed, I can get my money back on it at least. Anyway, I think that’ll do. I’m on a wee holiday soon to Portugal which you know if you’re watching this video in even a week’s time then that’s old news but we’re playing West Cliffs Pad del Rey Royal Obidos and Bomb Success. So I’m not doing a video of that because that just ruins the holiday and that’s not happening for a long time. Somebody invites me out pays for all the stuff then yes I’ll do happily do a video on your golf course but not when I’m supposed to be having a good time. So, I’ll see you when I get back from that. You ought to be on tele, I mean you kinda are, but actually better than what’s on the actual tele, which all seems to be about pottery, selling houses that are crap and sewing. Please keep posting videos, I’ll try and buy some stuff off you, hopefully you do online cos I’m miles away. If you don’t then, I might make the trip but in all honestly probably won’t. Brilliant. I bought the Moonlander largely based on your review and love it. Why I’m still watching your bag reviews I don’t know given I’ve just bought one but this was brilliant 😅
