ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Long Beach State Men’s Golf is in a three-way tie for fourth place after two rounds at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate, with Jaden Huggins and Steen Zeman leading the way for the Beach from the New Mexico Championship Golf Course.

Day One Results

Senior Jaden Huggins finished the day in the Top 10 overall, sitting in a tie for sixth place after back-to-back rounds under par on the day. After a 70 in the first round, Huggins had just one bogey in a 69 in the second round to end the day at 5-under par.

Graduate Steen Zeman, moving into the lineup after an impressive performance as an individual at the Ram Masters Invitational was second on the team, putting up two scores of 70 on Friday to end the day in a tie for 12th, one stroke behind Cantlay at 4-under par.

Senior Jack Cantlay eagled hole four in his second round on the way to a 69 in the second round after having Long Beach State’s drop score in the first to finish the day well up on the leaderboard as well, tied for 27th overall in the 100-golfer field.

Senior Alejandro de Castro Piera and junior Krishnav Chopraa shot even par in both rounds, and closed the day at 144 as even par would be the team’s drop score in a strong second round for the Beach, who remain in a tight competition at the top of the team leaderboard after shooting 8-under par as a team in the second of three rounds.

Hosts New Mexico are leading at 18-under par, trailed by Colorado who are two strokes back. USC is in third at 14-under, while Long Beach State, Santa Clara and Grand Canyon are all within striking distance, sharing fourth place at 12-under par.

Competing as an individual, junior Tiger Tahvildari’s day was highlighted by an eagle on hole 18, and he finished the day at 5-over par with scores of 74 and 75.
