Well, hello everybody and welcome back to the channel. I say welcome back for those of you that are new to the channel. Where have you been? You have missed out. You have missed out an awful lot. Anyway, today Bernie and I with a special guest over in France at Golf Duo. Do you like that? Yeah. You’ve been practicing that one. I have been practicing that one. I like the way you spat it out. Yeah. Well, you’ve got to. There’s no other way. Anyway, today it is day one of our little adventure over here in the Dordoyne region of France. I mean, wow, what an amazing, beautiful location we have found. We’re up in the mountains today. We’re about 1,500-,600 ft above sea level. The air is fresher, cleaner, definitely. And I feel like we’re going to hit the ball a long way today. Anyway, Bernie and I are going to be doing a scramble today. We’re going to have a little bit of fun. We have no idea what the course record is around this golf course, but anyway, we’re going to set it today. And there’s only one person that we need when it comes to setting new course records. You’re like our our scramble king, aren’t you? Hey, a birdie machine. Oh dear. Welcome back to the channel, Graeme. Delighted to be back, Dan. Definitely got my uh role right here as driver. Not only the drive from Roskoff to Suliaak, but the drive from Suliaak to the course we are at today. Amazing. Amazing. Well, just before we tee off, I just need to let everybody know in the group, okay, that I have been in the pro shop and I found a Titanist 97D. This is a 9.5. It’s got a graphite shaft in it. For those of you that uh are fully aware of this this driver, it’s a regular flex, but the rules of this because we kind of smashed that course record last time we played. We made it was too easy. You’ve got to hit this twice in the round. Okay. Okay. So, good. Bernie, you’ve broken the tripod. Lovely. So you got to hit this twice in the round each of us. So we’re going to have six drives using this one and that will go to obviously towards the score. So looking forward to getting this one back in play. Right on that note, let’s get going. 372 m this first hole, Bernie. A little dog leg round from left to right. Nothing like just sort of introducing a nice easy hole to get you going. Yeah, courses are supposed to be designed with a nice 320 yard parour wide fairway, not having to shape it off the first te. Oh yeah. Go on. Chase down. I got to go. Flight. Yeah. Oh, nice little SP. I got that on the big screen. That one. That was a full splash. What are you doing? You’ve got you’ve got you got the Go on, Bernie. I was going to hit that, but I reckon you should go. I don’t know where you go with that club, though. I think it’s a 97 975D. Well, they’ll cut over the over the water and shut on the green with a slightly older golf ball. Introducing Bev as well. Bev Ruth. That’s mom of James Ruth. Straight over there, Bernie. You see me? See where I’m pointing? No. Over there. Where are you going? Not feeding, is it? I’m not sure that was the uh Oh, no. We didn’t have this sort of trouble on the time we played before, did we? So, Bernie was tucked in in here and I have Well, I’ve got a little shot, but it’s not a shot that you can get to the green. So, it’s a chip out job and we’ve got to rely on our quality wedge play. Graeme, I think to be honest with you, we could have uh taken a totally different line, couldn’t we? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It’s over the water a little bit more. In fact, it’s probably not even driver, is it? It’s probably fivewood to the corner and then play in from there. Sensible. That could run though, is it? That’s not bad, is it? It’s just short of the green. Yeah, that’s going around the left hand corner. Yeah, that Well, that’s a good start, I would say. That’s a very good start. Graeme just dropping us himself into position. A time for Graeme. Similar shot to me. didn’t just did not come out, did it? I want to go almost in that pivot, don’t I? Oh, that’s that’s a good drop. Lots of um lots of practice with that drop, haven’t you? Whoa. Where the heck? You bit a root there, Bernie. Criy. Dangerous sport, isn’t it? Golf 50. Bang on, gentlemen. Not putting the marker down. Is that your special marker? Your number, B? Not really. Anything’s got double figures is not very good. Okay. 100 yards over ideally. A little wafty lovely shot members bounce there. I don’t think it was what you were. No, no, no. A bit wafty. I would say anything between my golf ball and the flag there, Gray. You’ll be absolutely spot on. Did that pitch on the front edge? That pitch kind of I I would say about 25% of the way up the green. This is where This is where Gray made all his money, isn’t it, Vinnie? Yes. Right here. There’s a lot of money made in the uh in the old amateur game. I love that. What a line that is. Turn. Turn left. Yeah. Nice. Really nice. Just released a bit more than mine, that one, didn’t it? Love it. Love it. He kept a kept a nice solid flex in the knees on the way through that one. That was that was better. I never know. Did I not then? I don’t know. Did I It looked great. I tried to, but I don’t I don’t achieve it very often. I don’t know if I did. Did I? I’m not sure you did. I let everybody uh let everybody tell us in the comments whether you did. All right. I didn’t. Graeme’s little wedge shot is the the wedge of choice. Nicely played. Just hit too hard. Yeah, I just Yeah, it was battered, but I don’t think there’s much movement in that. Bernie, me go. So, we’ve elected to take Grahams, which is pretty good. I mean, the line So, if we’re stood I’m stood by his ball is right on the end of here, the green and it looks like it kicks a bit from the left down there. So, I think it’s reachable with a good with a good um a good fairway wood. blind, but yeah, won’t see it down or anything, but um that looks a very good line. Gray, that’s a beauty. Be interesting to see where that that is, but it looks on a good night. That was hell of a whack. Or fivewood, whatever. Whatever you feel comfortable with. Have you got my ball? I do. This is little path four. 300 Well, it’s a little 300 yd uphill. big overhanging tree here as you see now which um you’d probably play if you’re playing the medal probably play out left of that and leave yourself a wedge in. And this is up towards the green. You see the right hand pin is is the green bunker right in front of it but uphill slightly. So probably not reachable today but you watch this little hold off little finish for those that haven’t those who haven’t seen it before. They’re going to get a little treat here. Oh, just call it come down. Didn’t I heard it but come down? No. No. Started on the wrong line. Burns with driver. It’ll fade hopefully from the left hand side. Yeah. Um that overhanging tree is very tall. Don’t feel like you’ve had lot much fade recently. So just I aim a little bit straighter. Oh my word. That was good. That was amazing. Like the last time I saw that was Tiger Whiz did that. Criy burning. You got to have some strength to do that. Well done you. Oh no. Hit hit something. Hit something. I went It’s down. There’s nothing wrong with that, Bernie. That’s a great shot in the middle of the absolutely fine. You just aim at trees all day. You’ll be fine. I’m going to hit a lot of trees around here. It’s the length of the shaft though for me. It just looks so long cuz the head’s so small. Maybe it is. Oh, you got to peg it right down. You’re not selling many Pink Castle TE’s in the pro shops in 1997, were you? Oh, done. That could be That could be the way forward. Yeah. Oh my. Look at that. It’s gone miles. Gone miles. Wow. I could do that what whatever I kind of wanted with that. I saw the shot and hit the shot. Remember those days? I’ve never got that good a memory. No, because you have to go back to the smaller headed clubs to be able to hit those different types of shots. That is um I guess technology technology makes you or is intended to straighten everyone out, isn’t it? To to eliminate shape where if you can play shape Yeah. then something like that driver, you could sort of maneuver it around. Whereas you’re using the big modern stuff and you’re trying to move it with it just doesn’t really happen as much, does it? I agree. Players say it all the time, don’t they? The the new drivers are hard to shape. Well, not the old stuff. No, not at all. I’m not sure which shot I’m going to hit. till after I’ve hit it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Don’t Don’t give anything away. And I think a key thing today especially is to make sure you’re on the putting surface putting through the sort of semis a little bit as as demonstrated on the correct correct Bernie. Don’t get much momentum, do you? No. It looks as if it breaks away slightly to the right, but I’m not so sure it’s that much. I always think the the great rounds, you know, the great rounds. There’s always one or two little nuggets of long putts, isn’t there? In a great round. This could be this is the one. This could be the opening moment of our Hurry, hurry. Go a lot. Go a lot.
