Oh yes, the racing flat. One of my favorite genres. My previous favorites include the Puma Liberate Nitro, the Nike Free RN, and the Adios 6. Since the Takumi Sen 8, I have not run in a shoe like this in a couple of years.
Here is my one take banger but it is not a full review with the upper and outsole. I do talk mostly about the ride and midsole. But this is more of the what the Adios 9 is and I explore other options, which is important if you are state side because this shoe is not available currently in the US

what we talk about when we talk about the Adios 9 from Adidas. I think that was a book. Maybe not. Anyway, things I ain’t got time for, guys. YouTube things I’m still going to try to do YouTube. But in order to make it work, I’m just going to have to hit record and we’re going to just do like one take bangers. So, today I do I want to tell you about the Adios 9 and why you don’t need this shoe. You’re not you’re not missing anything. More than that, I want to tell you what you could be running in instead and why this shoe is just ever so slightly a miss. So, let me get into it. Where did I get this shoe? Because you can’t get it in the United States if you live in the United States unless you get it off like a secondhand site like the Subwell app, which is where I got it. It’s a buy and use shoe marketplace. It is not my app. It is Yuana’s app. I got this from a guy named Charles Young. Now, my man Charles also threw in for me this right here, Trail Mix Superfoods from his company, Live Young. So, I’m going to put a link in the description below and go help out my guy. Support your fellow running community if you so choose. Now, he sent me these shoes for $140, and I was very excited about it because I saw a review from Chris Sagasu, aka Chrisonic from Sagasu Running. I respect his opinion highly. He likes this genre of shoe and so do I. In fact, I’m going to tell you something. My first super not super shoe, but my first race day what a race day shoe. My first speed day shoe was the Nike Free RN, a custom one that my wife got me. And I love that shoe. If you don’t know that shoe, it conforms to your foot. It’s like a a shoe you would take out to the lake, like a a lake shoe, but for the land. It’s a land shoe. I absolutely loved it. I ripped intervals and at 400s that’s what I thought speed day shoes were. So I got the Audio 6. That’s the last Adios I ran in was the Audio 6. And I really like this offering from Puma called the Liberate Nitro. And it was just a little slab like this of a super critical foam because Puma, this is on their come up. This is when they were becoming what I thought Sketchers would eventually become. Turns out it was Puma. This is the Liberate 2. The Liberate 1 has since been retired. This is the two. And the two actually has a little bit of uh rebound when you squeeze it. The one didn’t. It just flopped. Okay. There was no stiffness to it whatsoever. Just the slab of super critical foam underf foot. Nice little bounce. As opposed to the Audio 6. It’s a very firm shoe. It’s more responsive, lightweight. I enjoyed the Audio 6, but I quit running in that genre of shoe when one other shoe came out. this transformative Tacumi Sen 8, the 5K, 10K racer with a little plate in it. I love the Tacumi Sen 8 so much I bought multiple pairs. The 9 came out, I bought more of the eight. Any interval workout that I did, I no longer ran in a shoe like this. I wanted the one with the little plate. I ran in the Tacumi Sen. I’m not alone in this. A lot of people really like that shoe. So, when the Adios 9 came back around, it piqued my interest because I was hoping what I was hoping for was that this shoe would be like the Liberate Nitro. Now, this is the new Light Strike, the Light Strike 2.0, not the classic. And that that type of foam has just a bit of softness to it. And that’s the trend for 2025. Softness, soft shoes. I’m going to pause. I’m going to take a timeout. I’m going to take a time out and tell you my theory which I think there are four ways a shoe makes you feel like you’re going faster. One is energy return which is the bounce. Number two is the responsiveness or the snap of the shoe. How aggressive is it? Number three is the geometry like the Evo Pro one. Does it have an early rocker like the Evo SL that gives me a feeling of going forward? And lastly, it’s the lightness. How light is the shoe? Of those four things, none of what I said was the word soft. I don’t care for soft in the shoe unless it’s comforting the landing and transitioning me to a very snappy toe off like the Vaporfly 2 or the way that Nike has done it before. Other than that, I don’t care for soft yellow X1 2.0. It’s a little bit softer. Okay. The Adidas Light Strike 2.0. I don’t care. I love the Adios Pro 2. I love the Adios Pro 3. I don’t really care for the Adios Pro 4. I’m not going to run in the A6 Ray. So, I say all of that to tell you that I’m not a huge fan of the sock element of the shoes, which is in the Adios 9. Now, does it slow me down when I run? I put probably 30 or 40 miles in the shoe doing speed workouts. No, it doesn’t. But, do I prefer a little bit of bounce of the Liberate Nitro? Do I prefer a little bit more snap or firmness from the Audio 6? I do, right? And this is $140. That’s great. I mean, this is really good foam. I understand why it’s $140. But now, I’m going to tell you about the alternatives that I like to run in instead of this shoe and at half the cost. This is called the Nike Rival Fly 4. Got it for $65 online off the Nike website. It is more responsive. Okay. It’s It’s not It’s not super flimsy. It’s got some Air Zoom units in it. I very much enjoy it. And you know, most runners that I know spring the big bucks. They do their workouts and race day shoes. And if you got money, there is nothing better than the Nike Street Fly version two. It is molded like a track bike. So, I mean, you got to be landing up more mid-foot, forefoot for this shoe to really give you all that return, but it is so lightweight. I have used this shoe. I keep reaching for this shoe. 40 plus miles in this shoe. I love it. Yes. I I I want to save it just for race day. That’s how special it feels. So now I’ve turned back to like the Rival Fly 4 more so than the Adios 9. The reason I say all this is because you can’t get the Adios 9. And so that means that there’s going to be more demand than there is supply. You can’t get it in the US anyway, right? So, for me, I really want something that I can’t have because it’s not available. So, that’s why I was so eager to pay full price at $140 to try this shoe out. And I’m just here to tell you, you’re not missing out. [Music] [Music]

Thanks for this video. I think Tim Grose and Road to Trail are the only other two shoetubers who have had a decent look at the Adios 9.
I really liked the Adios 6…I just didn't use them that much as there were too many other (arguably better) options. Up until early this year, I was still using them for Fartleks and hill repeats. I'm tempted to replace them with the Adios 9 (they're oddly available in Australia despite being a small market), I just don't do enough of these sessions to justify it. Plus, a low to the ground shoe that's soft does not really appeal to me.
I absolutely like this shoe. ❤❤ especially at 90 bucks
I was excited to get this shoe when the BITR “Forbidden Red Shoe” video appeared from TRE. Kept waiting for it to be available on Adidas’ site to utilize a rewards voucher, then it was nixed from being released in the US. It is on Adidas’ site now in the Y-3 collab, but no chance am I spending $280 on this shoe that retails for $140.
I love your alternative in the Rival Fly 4 as we’ve discussed a number of times. Another great alternative to the Adios 9 is the Pegasus Plus as it is great for a wide range and can really pick up the pace as that non-plated workout shoe.
Jokes on you, I cant even get them because they never launched in the States and dealing with importing it/tariffs sounds like a headache. Also just thinking of running in a shoe with that low of stack makes my shins hurt
