Dowagiac, Cassopolis golf teams turn in strong performances

DOWAGIAC — The Dowagiac girls golf team competed in two recent SAC Lakeshore Division tournaments, securing third and second place finishes.

At Indian Lake Hills on Monday, South Haven won the event with a score of 206, followed by Cassopolis with a 211 and Dowagiac in third with 220. Bree Behnke led the Chieftains, finishing second with a 48, while Jaden Kusch took sixth with a 51. Cassopolis’ Ava Wagoner was the medalist with a 44, and Olivia Hayden tied for third with a 49.

On Thursday at the Diamond Lake Golf Course, Dowagiac and South Haven both shot 198, with South Haven taking first based on the fifth player’s score and Cassopolis third with a 204. Behnke was the medalist with a 42 and Charlotte Maxey tied for second with a personal best of 45, which included two birdies. Kusch tied for eighth with a 51. For Cassopolis, Wagoner tied for second with a 45, Hayden was seventh with a 50 and Brooklyn Smith tied for eighth with a 51.

The conference is back in action next Thursday at Pipestone Golf Course to be hosted by Berrien Springs.
