My BEST Round Of The Year …Was It Enough?!

Today I am heading out on Warrington Golf Course to see if I can beat the course record I set in 2008 of 8 under par. He is off to a triumphant start. Currently my best score in 2025 is three under par. But after some training, I’m ready to take on the challenge and go and shoot my best score ever. My god, there’s a golfer in here yet. Well, we have got to the first tea. 440 yards just as the sun is starting to rise up over the trees in the distance. It’s going to be a great day out here. The course is in great nick. Greens are very nice. Hopefully, we’ll uh the little morning jewel will come off them. But we’re going to flash the scorecard up here from the record that I shot. It’s actually not the record anymore either. It’s been beaten by one stroke by Ben Wallace. It’s 62 now. So hopefully we could get that today if we were doing decent. But par four to start, 440 down the hill. Irons in play. Let’s go. That is as straight as they come. It’s going to be a long way in. We have to use irons at the minute because there’s a bit of a dispute with balls going onto the road. So, that’s made this hole a little bit longer than normal. The way 192 yards to go. It’s interesting actually the I remember from when I did shoot the record, which was like what we now 2005, so it’s 16 years ago in May. I remember where some of the pins were. And this is pretty close to where the pin was. It’s about five paces to the right of where it is. So, it’s right at the back. this hole. I was hitting driver and I hit it down actually into the trees and started with bogey that you will have seen on the uh the scorecard. But see if we can get one better to start off with. 190 all the way to the flag. I’m going to get a sixiron. If I can get it to the middle, which is 178, that will be absolutely fine. Two puts. Move on. dead at it. Needs to go a bit that’ll be sort of front. Bit colder this morning. It’s September the 8th and the temperature has definitely dropped as Jon Snow would say. Winter is coming. So, I’ve got a real simple game plan today. It is literally aim at the middle of every fairway and then try and aim at the middle of every green. Clear intention on every shot and just be kind to oneself. Those are the new things I’m trying to do on every round of golf. Oh wow, that’s got a lot closer than I thought. I thought that was going to be front right corner, but we’ve got what looks about 20 ft for an opening birdie. Righty righty. That morning dew is still here. We can see the footsteps. We’re We’re out nice and early, but we’ve got 20 ft with a tiny bit of right to left here. Tiny bit of right to left. If this went in to start off with, we’d have two in the bank on the old score. Oh, can he break a course record? Well, he is off to a triumphant start. Just look at that track line there. Pure roll, guys. One under. Let’s go. Comment down below. Are we doing it today? Are we doing it? Fancy it with that. We need to get nine more now. Right. Second hole. What a start that was. What an absolute beautiful start. What a day to start a Monday morning. E little bird 360. The second hole. This is my just absolute nemesis. If you watched any of the videos here from before, getting it in the fairway is like straight forwards never really an issue. The T-shot, but getting it on the green, I reckon I probably got about a 20% success rate. But not today. Not today. It’s a dog leg from left to right. 360 up the hill to a blind approach shot. Going to go four iron down the middle. There’s bunkers that are at I think 225. I don’t think my four iron’s getting there. It’s a little bit colder this morning. The eyes are a little bit softer from the deluge last night. So, straight up the middle and try and get it on the green. Tiny pull, but it’s fairway bound. That’ll do. That’ll do. Right, let’s try and hit the green. 149 149. Now, this is where the issue is. The flag to me at the moment looks like it’s I’m going to say three paces off the right of the green, but it’s probably slapbang in the middle. I just never get an idea of actually where the flag is. There used to be a row of silver birches like that were five paces off so you get a really good idea but they’ve been taken by the winds of yesterday year. Going to go eight iron just a little 3/4 one nine iron I think in this cold morning he’s going to struggle. Okay I just about 10 ft left just cutting back to it’s the plan. Oh, hold your line. I pushed it. I saw it pitch on and then it’s kicked right just off. It’s going to be tricky. Just didn’t quite get it started left enough. I think I’ve got a little bit more room than I think though, actually. Good strike though. So, three good strikes in a row or four, sorry, four good strikes. Just line was slightly off there. Up and down can save us though. All right, just off the greens, pitched around here and and bounced back, but luckily it’s not sat too bad. And with the the dew on the greens this morning, it’s early morning, it won’t come out super fiery. So, just got to commit to a slightly open face here. Just pop it on. Even fancy a little chipping. I’ve been chipping nicely. Little bit of right to left on it. Break. Well, thank you, Alex Buckner, for giving me the ability and the confidence to chip again, cuz that was a one, ladies and gents. And a cheeky little tap in. We’ll take that. We’ll take a four down there. The nemesis hole pars always very very welcomed. Right onto the next. I think if we can bank or at least get to like the eighth at this score, maybe one better, we’re doing good. Here we go. The third hole. Dog leg left to right. 337 yards. This one we uh just poke an iron down and try and leave ourselves a maybe a gap wedge in or something like that would be ideal here. Wind’s a little bit into it’s starting to pick up the wind oddly. Don’t think it would do. I think it’d be dying at this point in the morning but four iron. Get him away. Let’s see what we can do. Not a towy pull. Struck it. That’s actually going to be okay. It’ll be maybe left semi, but might have kicked to the fairway. So, we’re okay. We’re just clinging on to the fairway here. We’ve got 123 yards. The pin is slap bang in the middle at the front of the green where the two bunkers are. I’ve got 50 out. We are playing downhill. So the 123 is about six less. So this is like a full a full 50. Even if I come up slightly shy, it’s not the end of the world. So can pretty much take dead aim here. Go a bit. Go a bit. Go a bit. Didn’t go full out on that, but it was dead online. Got to remember that. You can see the breath. The uh temperatures dropped about probably 10° actually in the morning from a couple of weeks ago. So, the ball’s probably going to be going about 5 yards less through the air, I would say. But, we’re off and running. That’s close. We can either knock that in with the putter or even chipping it. About 10 yards shy actually of the flag there. Should have given that everything. But I’m going to get the wedge out because this green’s just been cut and we’ve got a lot of fringe to go over about three or four paces that’s got the morning dew on it still. So, it’ll be going from sort of slow to quick. So, I’ll land it on and I can predict what’s going to happen then. Two little ducks coming in for the show there. Just wanted to see a cheeky chip in from the lad. Just land it. Pace of two on dribbles out. In it goes. Oh, Matt. Thank god that’s been caught. Just didn’t commit to the hit then. It’s the invasion of the ducks here. Another two coming. There’s another three or four about to come up over. Do you want to get in on the action? Remember to like and subscribe, duckies. Well, a simple par. Would have liked to have had a bit of a better put at it, but keep ticking them off like this. Pick up the odd birdie here. I always think around Warrington if you get through hole. If you get up to eight, well, especially if you get through the first four and you’ve not not done your conquers in because there’s out of bounds right on one, two, three, four, and five. If you get through those, you sort of got a good score, then you can really start to go for it. The back n’s where it all happens, which you will have seen from the scorecard pop up. Eight under back there. Currently, we’re a couple ahead of where we need to be. So, we’re all good. 352 yds. The fourth hole. This is one of my favorite holes on the golf course. Pond. You got to go over here. And there is a pond down the right hand side of the fairway that comes into play at about 220. Really good bunker up there on the left. Very well placed. That’s at 230. So two iron just right of it with a little leaves me a wedge too. Luckily I didn’t quite get that and it stopped shy of the pond. Stop shy with a bit of a bottom strike. First fairway missed. Oh dear. What will happen now? Will he survive or will he not? Right. 162 yards to that flag. I just hit the tree. 159. 159. The fly line is not actually too bad. This is another one here actually where when I was growing up here there was you can see the sort of outline of them. There was four big trees. So you never really actually came close to this pond cuz the trees would always stop it. But that should be a thought now for a lot of players if you’re playing here regularly. Like how far is that? Cuz obviously on the right with a slice, which most players have if you do that, will that club reach? Cuz I reckon a lot of drivers are hit sliced ever so slightly and then end up in the pond. Let’s go a just a 3/4 sort of flatter flight one here out of this cuz it’ll skip up. Oh, that has flipped the club that rough. Wow, that was I didn’t think that was that tangly, but really turned the blade over. Pin high but left first. Oh no, second green missed. I missed the last one and the second. So, I’ve actually only hit one. I don’t know what I’m talking about. Stuck him nice, but wrong direction, sir. Well, this is definitely not the place to leave it. Can’t believe how much that rough flip the club then. Anyway, we’ve got the best part of probably 15 yards up to here. I want to try and land this with a bit of height around here. Couple of bounces and it’ll just dribble next to the hole. So 58 out. Pitch it up. This is our first real test that we’ve faced thus far. It’s come out a bit hotter. Thought we were going to dunk it then. Wow. Had no grip out of that wet rough. Poor T shot that. That led to that tough iron. And now I’ve got a 20 footer across the green for par. Not ideal. Stay up. Oh dear. Oh dear. Come on. Tidy up. Move on. Par five. Next. Woo. Snook it. Snook it. It’s a bogey. A testing one. Just a poor iron shot there. But get back to hitting the fairways. Maybe try and hit a few greens cuz one in one in four ain’t the best best record yet. But we shall see. We can keep going. We got a par five now. Currently, we’re tied with where we were when I broke the record. I want to try and I don’t really want a score goal. Obviously, it’s the the end score goal. But if we can get maybe under par for the front nine. That is that is a big big help. The fifth hole is a par five. 484 yards. What a lovely day. The sun’s starting to just get up now. Temperature starting to rise obviously slightly. The morning juice is just burning away. We can make a nice birdie down here. Just start with a good T-ot straight down the middle. That’s all we need to do. Kick left for me. Keep going. And that is A1. Got it a little bit out the bottom, but it’s sat in the mayor’s office. Slap bang in the middle of the fairway. Probably about one. I’m going to hesitate a guess to say we’ve got about 185 to the flag there, which it is imperative that I hit this green. Right, four holes played. Very happy with my tea game thus far. Hit every fairway bar. The fourth greens, I’d say like that last shot was a bad one. The the second just a little push. Um, chipped it really nicely though down two and three. Four. That was that was just a difficult pitch. If I got that with inside 10 foot, that would have been a wonder shot. But downhill out of the rough going down down the um down the slope on the green when it landed was always going to be tough. But we’ve got a beauty away here. All about hitting the greens. Now, if we can get this cuz the six is a par three that’s coming up that you cannot miss the green left cuz it’s just pretty much a straight double unless you pull off some miracle. So, get the get the ball on the green is the the main priority. Be a little bit more focused over these next few going into the greens. Well, I was out on my guess just by 15 yards. We’ve got 170, not 185. 165 is an eight. So, let’s hit a let’s grip down a seven. Make sure we cover the bunkers at the front. Just try and hit this just a little right of the flag because it looks tucked left. We can hit a three quarter little high cut. Given a big speech about hitting greens and I’ve hit a big push. Don’t even know if that’s got up. striking it well with my irons, which is like the annoying bit because I’ve got the strike. I’ve just not got the starting line. Everything’s just starting a little bit off track and then not quite getting where I need it to be. Hopefully that covered the bunker. I think I may have taken a little bit too much off it, which we need to make four off that driver, isn’t it? But we’ll get up there and see. Well, luckily we took enough club. Remember to always get your pitch marks everyone please because in the first out and there is pitch marks there and that was not me and there’s another one there that could be me. Luckily if we took enough club to get it up over that trap we found the green. So now we’re putting for eagle. This would tidy up that little blemish on the last. That would indeed break break. Oh, I pushed it slightly, but it’s a tapping birdie. That’s all you want down here. That is all you want. Tap in back to under par. Now we face the tricky six that we must must hit the green on here. Six is a path three that if you miss the green left, there’s nothing but misery and despair down there. And guess where the flag is? Left the side of the green. I will not be going near that. There’s a big um pine tree that sits behind the green. That’s a great great line. Is that a pine? Cypress pine? Don’t know. Who knows? We’ll figure it out. Drop in the comments what type of pine that is, please. It’s 149 yards. Wings sort of here into off the right. So, I’m going to hit a iron just again just a 3/4. Try and just shunt it forwards towards that. Let the wind knock it towards the flag. And if we get near that flag, it’s by accident. I’ll be honest and say that now. Wind’s got it. Could be about 10 foot that. That was lovely. Struck it nice. Started at the pine and the wind just hit it quite hard early on and it’s moved on to the flag. That was a very strategically wellplaced shot. My god, there’s a golfer in here yet. Right. Well, we’ve got safely up to the middle of the green. We are coming back down the hill here. Bit of a tricky one. Luckily, the flag’s high enough. If it was about here, it’d be a real slick put, but about 25 ft right to left. Again, three is great. If we managed to sneak this in, it’d be a huge bonus. Par 3 is the way you build your score around Warrington. If you could play all of them in level, you’d uh have a good chance of doing some some damage on the rest. Break, break, break, break, break, break, break, break. Stay dead straight. Stay dead straight on me. But as I said, take your three and run away. Run away cuz three is always good down here. That’s the uh What type of pine’s that? That is a pine tree, isn’t it? It’s got It’s got pine cones on it. So, it’s not my We must We must find out. People of the the pine industry, let us know. It’s not your typical Norwegian pine, I would say. Well, our seventh hole. We’re up top. We’re looking over the glorious town of Warrington there. What a majestic view. This one plays straight down. There are some bunkers in the fairway which uh aren’t coming into play. On a nice day when it would be a little bit warm, if had a little bit of down breeze, you could knock this on with the fairways being firm. But today, I reckon we’ll probably have about a 40 yard pitch up to the flag. Maybe get within 20 yards of the front of the green if we get it get it away nicely here. So, drive her out and just smash it is the the idea down here. Hold your line. Just in the semi. Pitched on the edge of the fairway and just run into the right semi. That should be a Okay, laddy. Well, we’ve just run through into the semi here. We’ve got 57 yards up to this one. If I don’t hit the green, um, we’d have to call the emergency services out, I think, cuz I would inflict some serious pain. But 58°, a little chest swing goes 50 yards. So, that’ll be about right for this one bounce. Let it release up. Uh, just dug it slightly. Wasn’t my best strike, but we got 15t up the hill. It’ll do. It’ll do. Not the best pitch in the world, but acceptable. Pins as far back as they could have got it there. This is turning out to be a lovely morning. Now we have got best part of 15 ft up the hill. Tiny bit of left to right into it. Come on. I thought I literally thought that was going to finish like that. Then dead in line and not in. But it’s done. Good putt can always dig you out of anything. Two under through seven. So we’re ahead of where we needed to be at this point in the record. Ideally, ideally if we get one more bat going into the back nine, that’s where you make your score. You can go a little bit crazy out there on the back n you can just hit driver as hard as you want pretty much. Well, eighth hole, 352 yards. There’s a bunker up the right that is uh 235 from here. So, four iron. One of the uh the great members here, Guy Handel, said to me in a a video many probably two years ago actually now, I was always trying to hit three-wood and stuff like that up here because there are some bunkers up in the distance that are 265 up the hill and then that will leave you a little pitch on. But he’s like, why don’t you just play to the big gap and you can hit the green with a nine or a pitching wedge mat? And I was like, yeah. And ever since then, I’ve never really hit driver or 3-wood down here and probably walked past very similar scores all the time. So, little four iron just up the middle to left side. Little bit chunky, but it is safely in the fairway. That’ll do. N I in. Easy as that. Why stress yourself? We’re trying to take bunkers on. Right. Safely away on eight. All about hitting the green here. Big tilt on this screen. Have a look at the size of this spider. Wow. Look at that. He is a rascal. Look at that bad boy. You can have home there. Right. Get the uh get the ball on the green. Here is the big key. Leave myself an uphill putt. If I can creep if I can creep into the back n at three under, that would be awesome. Two under would still be very very good. And then we just need to go crazy on the back nine, which you can see is very possible from the scorecard. 28 was my what I did on that day, but I don’t think we’ll be doing that today unless I really yardage of putts, but who knows? Keep going. Let’s see what happens. 150 yards up the hill. You don’t want to go beyond the flag here. Every yardage I’ve had with an iron today has been right in between clubs. It’s either like is it a seven or an eight? And this is nine or an eight now. So 150 uphill’s playing 155. Pin is in the middle. So the front of the green is one 140. 150 is my 9 iron. So I think I go 9 iron. Wind’s slightly into though. I just don’t think that’s going to get me. I’m going have to chip an eight iron. Go up the right side of the green and let it turn back. Pin looks quite close to the left hand side there. So, aim at the center. There’s a big tree. You can see up the the middle of the green sort of over this middle bunker. If I go up that and just hit a little sort of knockdown draw. That was the shot. It’s on the green. I’ve almost been overly cautious there and taken too much off it, but it’s up there. It is up there and we’re putting Went out in the direction I wanted. So everything’s coming together. Take two putts here and navigate the ninth and we’re good. Right, then we’ve got quite a way up here. Literally an inch off the uh the front there. This is going to swing quite a lot. If you got got past it there and you’re coming back down to it, it is a treacherous putt. So I was trying to leave it around here. Just was too cautious with the clubbing there. But a good pace put here sorts everything out. Be about four feet outside the right. Stay up. Stay up. How’s that not gone in? That was a nasty lip out. That was a nasty nasty lip out. No, it’s a wet one, right? A sensible pile there. Thought we’d uh thought we’d stolen the three. Thought we had it. Thought we had it, but we didn’t. We got three and a half. Next little one. Par three. All the pins at the front on the ninth. This is going to be tricky. Don’t get suckered into it. Matthew, it’s another strange yardage that 135 up the hill, which is a pitching wedge, but the wind’s slightly into. It’s a little bit colder. That pin has got a red on it, but that’s looking more yellow than anything. I’m going to go nine iron. Just a little knock down one again. You can play a bit up the right here and let it come in. There’s nothing for left. And actually, when I was shooting the when I shot my original course record, I was one understood on this tea and the pin was actually in a very similar position and I uh I went dead at it and it spun left and ended up in the bunker and I ended up making four. So, I was level par after nine. So, we’re already one ahead of where we would be on this tea. If we can keep keep it at par, making par here, we’re two better. So, that would be a huge huge thing. But definitely the learn from that is to play up the right side of the green and take your three. I think 135. So, rip down this nine iron about an inch and just make a normal swing. A terrible strike. Oh god. Looks like the ninth’s going to get me again unless there’s a miracle to be had. Just pushed it. played too safe there. I was too cautious and I’ve just clipped the tree and it’s knocked it down. Ah, right. And now it’s in that bunker and it went at the back and I would imagine there’s a lot of sand at the back of there. Right. Terrible. Just literally caught the top of all this. Was overly cautious there trying to bring it in off the bank, but it’s okay. Bunker up and down ratio. Let’s get it high. Land it about three or four paces on. It came out well, but just over hit it. Oh well, a putt could save us. Stay up. Stay up. Stay up. Stay up. It’s gone. Thought I had that for a long time then another four on the ninth hole when attempting a course record. Par threes they’ll get you too cautious there off the tea was my problem. But news is we’re one ahead of where we were when we shot the course record. Will I shoot eight under on the back nine? Who knows? The greens are lovely. So, we could do we could do just going to hit a few more of them. Oh, T’s very forwards here. That makes it nice cuz it’s what 280 into the wind. Driver up the right. Try and pitch it on here. Actually made two here and shooting the course record. So, one of those would go go down nicely today to get us kick started. Right. Nine holes. We’re one under. Do you think we can still do it? What’s your prediction after nine holes? Everyone get in the comments down below. Let us know. I’m saying I can. I’m feeling good. That’s the perfect start cuz that should be middle of the green. Oh, realize how much into wind that is. It’s just pitched slap bang in the hill of the up slope of the green and stopped dead. Chipping a put though or a chipping. I’ll have to do a pitch and a stop here leaves us a mere three or four paces off the front of the green. Pin is at the back in the shadows. I’m going to back foot a 54 up the middle of the green and let it run out a little bit. Get going. Get going. Get going. Done pretty well. About two 2 3 feet up the hill for a a tap in three. Call this little stretch here 10 11 12. Call this the alley. And you need to be two under through the alley if you’re going to have a good score. So hopefully this is the start of the uh the run. It’s just a one-handed tapper. Just a one-handed tapper. Just felt so confident it was that close. Right, one under through the alley. Keeps the score going. Takes those blemishes off. I think what’s been good, we’ve managed to back up a bogey with a birdie each time. So hopefully no more bogeies and just a few more birdies. There’s two holes I would say I’m not worried about but uh holes you’ve got to watch for 11 and 14 on this this nine cuz they are the treacherous ones. 460 yards the 11th big tree down the right that you want to from this tea just be skirting the left side of that tree with a nice high one. Nice high one. Find the fairway. It all falls from right to left. Luckily, the pin slap bang in the middle here. So, if we can get a get a ball in the fairway here, we’re good. Just like that. That’s the best drive I’ve hit in months. Couple of bounces and working itself to the middle. That will do. That will do, folks. Right. Get this iron on the green. That’s the big thing. That’s playing it yardage today with not much run on the ball. 180 to that one. 180 wind slightly into slightly uphill. So that 180 is best part of 190. I think I’m going to go six though just to get it up there. That 180 is playing 190. Seven didn’t get there. And we’ve got 10 yards behind the flag of green. So we can give the six iron a little little high cut up the right. Ball’s above me feet here. So wants to work left. So I’m just going to aim about 5 foot right of the flag. Come out of that. Such a bad swing. Luckily, didn’t get on top of that. Was just underneath it. It’s missed and quick kick left. So, it might have actually made back to the fairway. But, it’s interesting. I remember on here I didn’t hit the green either when I played and faced a a similar sort of chip actually from a similar position. So, let’s see if we can up and down it from here. Oh dear. Oh dear. Luckily, we’ve got an okay lie, but I got that underneath it. 20 yard short. Bit of a tricky pitch cuz I got to go over the corner of the bunker here, but I’ve got loads of room to work with. So, realistically, don’t need to over complicate it. Just a straightforward 20 yard flight about 3 ft right of the flag. It’s just how it comes out of this and the ball being above your feet is always a little trickier. Wasn’t the exact flight I was expecting, but we’ll take all the luck we can get with that. Just catching the back of the trap and running up to 6 ft. That will do. Hold this and we’re out of here with a little bit of luck. That would be nice. That would be nice. This green over the years has got far more slope. It used to be a little subtle sort of slope from the back right corner to the front left, but it’s almost like fall in the green. It’s got quite a bit of break and it’s not quite 6t. It’s more 10t 8 foot here. It’s like two balls out the right. Not hit it. That was such a feeble put. Ah, Matthew, you had a chance, but it was a slick put that and I just didn’t give it enough. But hey ho, plenty more golf to be played. We really need to get the foot down now for the next few cuz at one under par, leaving a little bit of work to do here. Right, the uh the 12th is a par four that is very short. It’s 250 to the flag today. actually only want to carry it like 220 top. So we go four iron should be a little bit downwind and try and bounce it up. Ideally a two here would get us back into position. Four iron up the left and let it just let it swing. Pulled it. Get a good kick. Not Awesome. How’s that flown so far? That traps 220 and I’ve just flown it onto the top into the gor. Great. Ah, right. I can see my golf ball, but actually trying to get it is the proving rather difficult. I need a chainsaw. So I can at least take a drop. Penalty drop. I get back out though. I don’t know why I came in here. Ow ow ow ow ow. Tell I can see about four balls from here now. There she is. How do I get to that? Another one there as well. Oh, yeah. I can’t play it. Golf ball. Right. There’s the flag. Right in line there. Ow. Jeez Louise. Okay. Right then. got up and down this for par. Now, after that lovely bounce off the path, I petition we get rid of that go and just put some long rough in cuz missing the green by four yards left is not a fair punishment. That Go on then. Go on then. Go on then, booger. you booger. Well, we’ll take a par. Actually just pulled that four iron and it’s just such a severe punishment that I need to rate that bunker as well. It’s a four. Feels like a step back there. One of the holes that you really need to pick up on, but I could birdie in from here. Here we got 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18. Six holes left and one under par. I need at least one eagle. I did have Well, I had two on the back n 10 and 15. So, we need at least one of them of these six to to do it. Not far off. The best score I’ve had this year around here is 67. So, keep the foot down. I think we’re playing better than when I did that. So, let’s keep going. Well, we’ve got nearly a good yardage. It’s 145 down the wind now. So, in between wedge and nine this time, but nine irable one of these. Don’t have to batter it. Little bit left of the flag cuz the pin’s just a little bit right of center. Make a two here. That would be that would be ideal. Keep cutting. Keep cutting. It’s too much. No. No. It’s okay. Wasn’t my best strike in the world, but we’ve got a chance. We’ve got a birdie putt. It’s all we need. Start hitting these greens. Give ourselves some chances down here. Well, just teed off on 13. Unfortunately, we did not get through the alley under par. We got through there in level par. A birdie down 10, a soft dogy down 11 from a really good T- shot, and then that little par down 12, which that Gorse really annoys me. I tried playing shy to bounce it in, and I just got to bounce straight into the gor after a little pull, which is my fault, but annoying. But more holes to go. More holes to go. Let’s see if we can uh take advantage of a good T- shot here on 13. Got about 18 ft for birdie. So, let’s kickstart the the run here. That That’ll do it for the record. That will do it for the record. Went in at a lovely pace. That That’s one back. Let’s go. Next T birdie in that as well. Got the step. Got the power step on now. momentum. 423 yards is the 14th hole. Straight down par four. You go down the dip and then up onto the fairway. Need to get this momentum. Need to carry it on now. That was a lovely little two there. Feels like a backed up a bogey even though it was a par on 12. It felt like a bogey. If we can get a good drive away again. I think we’re on to something. Really need to pick two up in the next two holes. Beauty. Lovely kick forwards. Perfect. Lovely bit of height to it. Lovely flight, start line, everything. We’re cooking. We’re cooking, baby. 115 into off the right. Let’s go. 534. Knock it down a little bit. That’s like a perfect 54, but I think the green’s been a bit soft with all the rain last night. If I hit that, I just got a feeling it’s going to pop up and rip loads. So, knock this down with a 3/4 swing. Do the right number. It’s just popped and just not got there. That looked very good. I think the wind’s a little bit stronger than we think up there. The flag’s fluttering a bit once you get above that tree level there. It’s a little stronger than one thinks, but looks about 15 ft. So, that will do. We all know what happens when the blade gets hot, right? Little bit more than 15 ft. If we doubled 15, we’d get how far away the ball actually is from the hole, which is 30. But straight up, well, you can tell you what, when you get up by the green, you can really feel the wind. Not down on the fairway. Not much break in this. Not much break at all. The tiniest bit of right to left turn. Just never broke. Never broke. Ah, you booger. Wanted that one. Right. It’s a fall. Should have done more with a wedge there, but didn’t realize how strong the uh breeze was. Need need to get the foot on the gas here. Only two under. We’ve got five holes to play. To be fair, I chipped in here for a three. Then I went Eagle birdie birdie par. So, you know, we’re running out of holes, but there’s still there’s still a chance, right? 505 par five. I really need a three down here. Three would give me give me hope. Would give me hope, definitely. Good drive like the last few holes. Get it a bit higher in the air. And there are some bunkers out there. 280 to 300. If we could get over those today becomes a good good look for eagle. So, let’s get this driver sent. Too much cut on that map. It’s either in the trees or on the 14th side of it. That wind’s really picking up to be fair now. Didn’t realize how strong it is off the left there. H. Right, let’s go and see what we can do down here. It’s the worst drive I’ve hit all day. Should have checked the wind there. It was more down and off the left than I thought. Silly Billy. But good news is I can see the flag from here which is all the way at the back. Yeah. Two 212. So we need to The only issue is that big tree. I need to turn something from right to left. I need to move this. The flag’s essentially dead in line with the middle of the trees here. I need to go 30 yards right of it and draw it. So, if the flag’s 215, the green front, I think I can get a five iron up and around here. I have to trust that I’ve got 30 yards of movement in this hook. I buttoned it. Hopefully that gets a kick in because it’s a great line. Seeing a big bounce, eyes on the green. It was the perfect line, perfect strike as long as it’s got a shooting bounce and and got through the the rough around the green. Sight of the green here. No ball. Oh yeah, that right corner. Not quite on the green. Looks like it’s fringe maybe. What I did do here, I chipped in from a not too similar position. Too dissimilar I should say. So there’s hope yet a little chip in pin high about 30 ft. Little chip that would uh that would smarten the scorecard up very quickly. Lovely setting. Just going to land it onto here. and let it dribble its way down and it just tracks in. That’s all we need. Little chipping. Come on. Come on. Didn’t strike it. Didn’t strike it. Didn’t stay on top of it. Needed my angle to be more low and left there. Not inside and up, but pretty much a birdie. Well, I know it’s a birdie, but three under, five off the pace, three holes to go. Let’s see if we can get at least three, four, five under. Five under be lovely. I think I’ve actually played quite nicely today. Just a couple of sloppy bogeies down uh nine particularly and 11, but other than that, there’s been some good stuff. The the game’s moving in the right direction is what what we all need to take from today. It’s crazy, isn’t it? I think at 8 Ben shot the new record at nine under. You just got to play such good golf and have such good brakes cuz to be fair, if I didn’t have those three bogeies, which is, you know, if my cat barked, it’d be a dog. But you think you’ve just got to have like the perfect round of golf with luck on top because I don’t feel like I’ve played too bad. I’ve actually hit a lot of good shots today, but they’re just not going in. Anyway, 14816 pin is like teetering on the right edge. So middle and try and cut it back to it. Hold 15 footer would be lovely. Come on, wind. Come on. Do your job. I pushed it slightly. And hopefully that stayed on the green cuz it was about 3 foot 4 foot right of it. I’ve got a feeling though it’s going to be fringy. A little bit of a push going on with the irons today. We hung on. It’s literally stopped in its pitch mark, which is great. And now we’ve got about 12 ft for the uh for the bird. Just outside the left edge of the hole. This really need this to to find its way to the bottom of the cup. Come on. Good stroke. You got the line. Pushed. It just came out a bit. Neck off the fringe. Needed that one. Oh dear. Oh dear. Oh dear. Oh, I mean it was an out. It was a good chance. A really good chance. And it’s not my best strike on the putt. We now need to go eagle hole in one to shoot. That would be five. And we we’d tie it then. So, you know, anything’s possible. Tighty. 17 510 part five. only birdied this one. Only he says need a birdie now to at least get to four. 67’s my best this year. Let’s see if we can at least level that down the right little draw. That is A1. That is A1. I saw it land but then in the center but I didn’t see any sort of bounce. Who knows? It’s perfect. Can’t do any more than that. It’s a one in the book of K. The book of Carl has given us a one. 185 to the flag. Perfect sixiron. Hole this. We’re cooking. We’re cooking. If we hold this, we are absolutely cooking. Hold it. Wind was the tiniest light. It was the perfect line, but maybe a quarter of an inch slightly heavy. Looked like it got up to the front of the green now. So, the eagle is on. The eagle is very much on. Feel like we can do it. Feel like hole out. Hole out. What’s that? That would be four bet at seven under. We hit the green. Another green hit. Another green hit. Really needs to go in for any sort of chance of a good number. Anything starting with a six is always nicer, which is something we’ve not been doing in a while. So, good to see the hard work is paying off. Every one I’ve missed high, but they all looked like they were going to snap. It’s a birdie. It’s a birdie. Four under region routine birdie sort of thing. But I think this You know what? It’s hard really thinking about this cuz I’m really happy with like how my game’s going. I’m hitting it better off the tea. Hitting a lot better irons. Chipped pretty nicely. Puted half decently. Just feel like it could have could have been a lot better this round. Feel like I could be sort of six under, maybe seven, but I’m four and that’s the score. But it’s nice to be at four and think, “Oh, well, I could do more.” That’s where I normally be four over par thinking I want to go and break all my clubs. So, we’re in the right direction. Right. The 18th, 434 yds of par 4 straight down. Bunkers all the way down the right out bounce down the right. Trees down the left. The wind’s going to be that way, but I’m going to hit a little little drawy one down the flag line. Come on. Let’s finish with a a nice solid finish here. I think we’ve done quite well today. We thought it was going to be tough to shoot eight under par, but we’ve given it a Oh, there’s a ball there. We’ve given it a good go. Oh, necked it. softly. What a lovely bounce in the hill that was. It pitched in the hill and went I don’t know if it’s in the bunker. It was that bad. That’s the worst T-shot I’ve hit today. That’s a shame. Oh well, it’s going to be interesting from I don’t even know if I covered the bunker at like 270 I hit it. That’s shy. Where’s the flag? Even where’s the green? There’s the big trees. So, it’s sort of left middle of them on that line. So, I think that’s the line. I think tiniest bit thin. Did it get out just on the fairway there? I was trying to pick it up out the roof and ah not ideal. Should have I had seven and I was questioning it as I was stood over it. I should have gone for eight really to lift it. We fall on our sword at the end. We fall on our sword at the end. Right. 98 yards. 54 shoulder swing. That’s up and down this. Don’t want to be ending with a boo. That’s a little bit heavy that or wet underneath. Ah, what a shame to end like this after some very nice golf all the way round. But round’s not over till the round’s over. Let’s see if we can hold a a putt for once in this round. That would be nice. Tiny pull. Every putt’s like there or thereabouts, but just not quite getting them in. Well, three underpath, folks. Five off my record. It’s an underpar round though, which is nice. Guys, thanks for watching. Why not watch another video here where me and Peter Finch go and break some records.
