Can We Break The Course Record @ The Hardest Course In Michigan?

I’m Buster. I’m Jack. I’m Tig. And welcome back to Course Record. Today we’re at Arcadia Bluffs South Course. If you Google it, one of the hardest golf courses in the state true link style. 122 bunkers. 500 course record. Five under. And it’s a threeman best ball. If you’re just joining the course record, we play each of our own ball out every hole. We take the best score and we got to shoot the course record. Yep. And everybody has told us you got to land on the front of the greens and you can’t hit it in the pot bunkers in the fairway because they you have to go 90 degrees. So basically this is this is Oakmont. There’s 122 bunkers out here. One of if not the hardest golf course in Michigan. Oh, I caught the freaking ball. That’s the thing about this challenge is like we’re all relying on each other like one big tripod. So when you when you’re not holding up your end of the deal, it kind of feels like Okay. Yes. Come on. Got a good feeling about today. I did, too. Dang. That was pretty cool. Yeah. Oh, he’s done it. Tig bright and early. It’s very rare that we play this early. 7:30 in the morning. Sassy’s half asleep behind the camera. No, I’m great now. I had a coffee. You going to tell them what they told you about the course? Uh, it’s firm. It’s long. There’s 122 bunkers out here. The fairway bunkers do not look like traditional pot bunkers, but they play like traditional pot bunkers, and you will be chipping out sideways 90% of the time. And I quote, [Laughter] one of, if not the hardest golf course in Michigan. Yeah. So, so, um, you got to play a half club short coming in the greens. He said if you’re in the rough the ball will just roll forever that you can’t spin it. It’s firm. It’s fast. You can spin a wedge and a short iron, but you can’t spin anything else. Are we confirmed? 7 or 67 is the number to be. Confirmed. Google it. Anthony Kim. All right, we’re ready to rock and roll. First T we go at the South Course. Arcadia Bluffs. 429 to start. Man, we ain’t starting with a couple par fives like we did last time. Yeah, this ain’t no doozy of a round today. Hole number one. Well, I think it is a doozy. Yeah, doozy means hard. [Laughter] This is a doozy in the cool. I guess if you hit it straight, it ain’t no doozy. Oh my gosh. I went 200 yards. [Music] All right, big dog. Come on. Kind of right Actually, right at the green, I think. Hey, is your body firing already? It’s close. Okay, we need you to fire. Mine ain’t going to fire for about four or five holes. It’s close, I think. We’ll see. Oh, it’s firing. Holy. Look at that. Give me fairway over there. Oh my gosh. Right in the face of the bunker. Nuh-uh. I can’t see that far, so I wouldn’t know. Nice. That one’s in the bunker. Go ball. No, it ain’t. That thing bounced 30 ft in the air. Oh my gosh. Oh, lights out and away we go for another course record. Welcome back to Arcadia Bluffs. This is going to be a doozy. I know we’re here to play golf, but I just want to take a second to to talk about the coffee. This is a good coffee. It’s good coffee. It feels like it actually was. It’s It’s not just something that’s been sitting in a pot for a while. That’s every bit of uh That’s a 7.5 for me. I I I’ll go 72. Okay. 200 yards. Come on. First freaking swing is 200 yds in, but we’re playing it short. I’m only hitting it like 180ish, 185. Got a sixiron. Let’s see if they’re right. He’s got 200 flag, but 166 front edge. I told him to play it like 17. Yeah, especially out of the rough. Oh, yeah. Right. No, it’s perfect. It’s right at it. Is it rolling? No. I mean, it rolled out a few feet, but nothing crazy. Look at how far he hit that. And I look And I smoked mine. I mean, it was it was 3 it was 320 to that bunker. And look at where he is. Yeah, that’s ridiculous. So, what am I doing here? I feel like maybe just base of the slope. Maybe this is just uphill. It’s doesn’t roll out. I mean, yours rolled out. It just didn’t But if one were to roll out, a sixiron out of the rough was going to be the one to roll out. So, out of the fairway. Well, I’ve got one. Here’s what I’m going to do. should spin cuz I was long all day yesterday. I got 130 base of that hill. That’s my number, I think. And if it doesn’t make it up the hill, we’re I’m just putting up it right there. Stop. Dad gum it. You know, I Well, I would have hated pitching wedge. I feel from that distance. I feel they’re firm, but whenever you get like a 10 15 handicap, there’s no spin on the ball. Yeah. All right. 105 yards. Pretty good spot here. It’s kind of It’s kind of hard to tell what I need to do, but I think according to everything that everybody’s been saying, I need to carry this like 100 and it’s going to roll out 25 ft. It’s hard to imagine that with the wedge, but we’ll see. I’m going to go right at actually a little bit right of it cuz I think it goes a little 100 yards. It don’t take much to make 100 yards short. Coming back. That freaking ridge. I knew it. I knew it. Just relax. It’s the first hole. All right. I think we got a little too cautious on the first hole. Now we know. But I think it will come in handy to be cautious. Now we got three pretty tough putts up this little hill. Let’s just focus on the lag and move on to the second hole. Get there. It’s not as short as I thought. Did travel quite a bit. 48 ft breaking to the left. See if I see what kind of feel I have this morning. Look at us. All right, I got us. All right, uphill. Right to left. It’s like right at Magic’s T, I think. And then breaking inside of that. Just got to go left. Go left. No. Oh, roll. All right, we got some testers here. Pretty quick. Very nice. Very nice. Very nice. Very nice. Very nice. All right, get the first hole. Geeb’s out of the way. Yeah. I mean that’s a par. That’s a four. On to a short par four now. They are kind of fast. They are fast. That’s for sure. For some reason I just thought it felt special showing up this morning. So I thought when I hit that first putt there was no way it wasn’t going in and it never turned. It’s only 360 Tig. You might be able to get there. I mean it’s going to be every day all day splitting these bunkers on this course. Don’t. How was that hit? It was hit. Good. Sit. I think it might have stayed short. That might be short of it. I think so. Oh, by the way. I think he’s going to try. That was scary. I think he’s going to try and drive the green. That’ll work. Not hit great, but fairway. Yeah. Went back and got the big dog. Can you get there? Yeah. Yeah. I think you if you cover that right corner of the right bunker, I think it rolls all the way on. Yeah, I can. I’m just going to stop. I don’t have to even swing hard. I I love that energy. It’s a normal day for big. I love that energy. Mad Jack’s asking for his driver to be short of the bunker and you’re like, I’m going to have to swing hard. I might hit it over the green. That’s the perfect miss, isn’t it? Yeah, that’s that’s like a great swing shot. Holy jeez. Hey, that took a bounce. Yeah, it did. That’s perfect. Yeah. People never believed me, but I could. I believe it. I’ve seen it. Not the dunk, but I’ve seen the athleticism. I I used to They used to be when I played volleyball, I used to jump on an 8ft net and my shoulders would be about right here. That was so much fun back then. That’s why people who play vertical sports hit the ball generally hit the ball really far because you know how to use the ground. You know how to use the ground. Volleyball. Man, that’s a great sport. I still love playing volleyball. You know who I really liked growing up, and this is not a joke. My favorite event to watch summer Olympics was sand volleyball. I’m going to try to carry this about 20 yards there. Theirs did release. And mine’s going to release even more because I I’m closer to the green. I only need to carry it about 25 25 yards. But I think I do want to land it on the green. Oh, sit. Man, I hit the farthest drive and I’m Man, I just got to work on my feel. It’s when it’s on, it’s pretty good. And when it’s off, I’m just going to hit shots like that where I just don’t even really give it a chance, man. It did a lot of bit to the left, man. Wow. Here, I’ll clean it up for you guys. I know where it started and it looked good, but So, you need another one of those. Mhm. 600. I don’t know. That went pretty far. And if it gets that big bounce, I think I might hit a 4 iron in here. Gosh, I mean, I’ve hit great drives so far. And And you’re beating me by two. So, catch up. It ain’t about how far you hit it. It’s about how quick you can get it in the hole. Catch up. Catch up. Look at Mad Jack freaking bumping. He’s going to hit bombs at this golf course with how low he spins it. Trying to leave myself a good number. I’m trying to be a smart golfer here. Whoa. Get down. Came out a little further right than I expected. I think it might have been aimed there, but it’s in the fairway. Dude, how about this one? I know you kind of popped that one. You kind of hit that a little bit. 311. I only got you about about 60 yards this time. That’s That’s an improvement. I might be able to get there with this firm. Yeah. No, that’s true. Front edge is only uh 278. Yeah, if I pure this and get a big old bounce. Tig can get there. Cole hit this 320 yards. Oh boy. Dad, get on the green. Get on the ground. Dive in the green. I mean, I need to hit something that carries It’s got to carry 20 yards short of the green, right? Well, maybe try 10. So 215. I think it’s a five iron. Look at this guy. Hey, we need a drone shot. Now recognize that there’s bunkers. There ain’t no bunkers. But act like they’re not there. Hole number four. And it’s deep. 490. Dang. He’s on fire with the driver. Don’t you dare kick left. All right. Very nice, dude. That thing is still rolling. Keep going. That’s fun to watch. There’s no bunkers there. Nope. Not right there. Listen, there’s bunker in the middle of the fairway. You just got to chalk that up to a bad design. What? That’s fine. Yeah. Oh boy. Get on the ground. Hang on. Get on the ground and kick right. Oh my gosh. I think that’s all right. It should be not the best drives there. Cole hit a great one. Oh yeah. It’s such a waste of time like looking for a golf ball. It’s like just hit it in a fairway so you don’t have to do that. I know you hate losing golf balls. I hate losing golf balls more than I hate losing strokes. I don’t know what it is because I have a lot of golf balls, but it’s just there’s just something about it. What do you hate more, ketchup or losing a golf ball? I think those are about equally as hated for me. I hate those equally as much. All right, first bunker experience. Yeah, at least it’s not a fairway bunker. Yeah, these fairway bunkers are gnarly, dude. Yeah, they’re penal. 193. That’s adjusted. So, I’m going to I’m going to try to hit this like 180 to 185 and hopefully I get a little bit of that whatever action Mason had there. Made a little left of it. That would be nice. Come on, Tig. I know you’re you’re closer than Mason actually. I think it’s exactly pin high. This might be the most perfect bunker I’ve ever seen. Holy moly. Isn’t that crazy dude? What happened? This bunker is just perfect. It’s beautiful. It’s a work of art over here. Really is. All right, I’m gonna try to get a little fun here. They’re in there tight, so it doesn’t really matter. I’m going to take it off this back ridge. This says here, I have a feeling that mag is going to make this. Oh, I caught the freaking ball. All right, y’all go ahead. I’ll formally take back my statement. All right, so he said they don’t do much in and around the hole. This one looks like it’s swinging a little bit. Speeds have been terrible. Come on, lock in. I just didn’t have the right line. That never moved. I thought it was swinging. Dang. That was right edge, not a ball out. Okay, somebody just look at this and double take cuz I feel like this has to be going to the left. You mean this way? This way. Because of that ridge back there. So, yours was probably I will say it’s inside the hole, but I think it’s I think it’s like right inside this divot. I don’t mind that line. Yeah. I mean, just Oh my gosh, guys. Now, this is actually funny how nervous I am because of my putting stats for the last like 30 holes. It’s inside the hole, so just roll it on this line. Look how uncomfortable I am. Dude, I’m froze. Got a good feeling about today. I do too. Putts are dropping now. 191 somewhere around there, I’m sure. 84 up to 85 into the wind. I think it’s going to hold. What are you going to hit? I don’t know. Do you have seven or six? I got six. I’m going to try to I’m going to try to carry this kind of a a low 80s. It is into the wind though. Right. But I’m going to hit it low. Probably for you it’s 330. Yeah, but I’m going to draw it a little bit toward dude. I think it’s f I mean big old draw. Anybody see it? Nope. No, but it’s fine. It’s just left of the uh 10 yards left of that shed down there. What are we two? We’re two through five. Yep. Reachable par five here. Keep going. I just got stuck. Oh, okay. I didn’t hit it very good. Oh my gosh. Based off of where that is, that’s a big fairway. That is That is so big and I missed it. You know, I just sacrificed a bogey free round to try and make two back there. I did see that. But it was for the team. It was for the team. It was for the team. I think though if I think that that’s kind of like a interesting idea of like saying, “Oh, I’m going to try to make this like Well, I didn’t have just as good of chance if you would have just tried to hit a putt that that gets close. That gets close. Maybe I should have done that. But that straight uphill, I was like, “Okay, if it slams the flag stick, it’s got a chance.” I know, but I think you should I think you should have one hand chipped that. Well, yeah, probably. But I didn’t bring a wedge. Yeah. See, this is the thing about when your dispersion gets better. I thought that I was going to be in the crap, and I’m just in the right room. No, you’re just in the rough. And you’ve got a good line. You’re going to be able to go for it. Absolutely. I I will never knock. I think I can go for it. Depending on what front edge number is. Oo, 250. Only need like 215 carry to clear this bunker. Wind off the right here. I think this could be a perfect hybrid if it rolls up there nicely. Oh, you got to go hard. Go hard. What the heck? I rarely ever try and draw this club, but we’re going to try it cuz it’s got to draw to get there. 248 front edge. Right’s a fine miss, I think. Shoot. That’s going to go in that bunker. It’s fine. Got a lot of green over there. You got four or three? I got four. You’re just trying to hammer it on the front edge. Yeah, I’m trying to get this to the front edge. It’s like 250 to the front edge. I think I can do it. If anything, a little bit short, I think, is okay. And I kind of got my line. So, just commit to it here. Right at it, isn’t it? If it gets there. Oh, it’s just right of it.
