We’re here at the beautiful Wentworth cuz this is the DP World 99 yd challenge. Oh, that’s hit something. Zero points just long. You got a chance here, man. Come on. Go on then. Here we go. Looking good. Looking good. This is box office stuff. I don’t want it to be the last ball. Come on. Oh, 25. [Music] Welcome back to the channel. Welcome back to a new video, you golf life legends. We’re here at the beautiful Wentworth with the heroes DP World. You may have seen last week, the keep your cool challenge, but we’re back. We’ve got a new challenge. Let’s get to the academy and find out what it is. Right. I’ve been joined by the legend Big Anb. This academy here at Wentworth is something very very special around the corner. I was like, “Oh my goodness, look at the it looks so filable.” And it is hosting something very, very special cuz this is the DP World 99 Challenge. Today, what’s going to happen? And there’s going to be five pros taking on five amateurs and it’s going to be a proper proper laugh. Some proper legend as well. Big an what is the scoring system here? We’ve already seen the target. So the outside ring the blue one is 10. The green one is 25. The lovely pink is 50. And if you nail that beautiful ice cream that is 100 points. And it is carry. It’s when it lands. It’s not when it rolls. So that the ball has got to land in those zones for the score to count. Right, we are starting with two I mean proper proper legends. Two huge legends in their field. Both are very good drivers. Right, we’re here with the legend. What’s up boys? Thank you so much in person. Yeah, we we get years and years and hopefully we get you on the golf course soon. Today is a the 99 yard pitching challenge and we are waiting for your competitor Lando Norris. He’s late. Slow getting it. He’ll make it up in the pit stop. He’ll come screeching. But before we get into the challenge against Lando, can you just give us some tips for pitching like 99 yards? This would be great to learn off one of the greatest. So I feel like you know 99 yards gets close to it depends what club you’re going to hit, right? But for me, 99 yards would be a flatout lob wedge or it would be a little bit off a 56 or a half 52. So you’ve always got options. But for me, it probably the thing I’d gravitate towards most would be like a smooth 56. So I would use my left arm actually as a bit of a like a clock face theory. So like when I swing my left arm, yeah, I’ve got the stick. That’s for another thing. But I swing my left arm to 10:00 about there. Yeah. And then just gently accelerate with my body. that creates about well it’s a 100 yard shot for me. Um so that’s sort of how I would and if I was to go to 930 that’s 92 yards 10:00 would be 100 yards and then full would be about 112. So that’s sort of how I try to step down my yardages and I do that with all my different wedges. But so for me 100 yard shot so 99 basically would be 10:00 with my 56. And then the reason I had the stick here is another little thing that I think is key with with wedges is that if you don’t really keep your body turning, you can start to get quite flippy with your hands. And I think with a wedge, you really want to be quite accurate. So you want to control the club face. So by having the stick holding it, you know, as an extension of the shaft, if you come into the ball and you feel like your body stops, this the stick will slap you in the side. So if you can kind of feel like you keep your body moving with your hands a little bit ahead of the ball, that’s also really really key to get a good flight on your wedges. Okay. You don’t want to be scooping it. Yeah. Um so you keep your hands a little bit ahead of the ball and you keep turning the stick will miss your body. That’s just a really nice way to feel like you’re controlling the club face but and also getting a good angle of attack to get the right flight on your wedges. Something very simple. The variations of degrees and clocks you say. Does that depend on conditions like wind windy, hot, cold? Like you trying to keep it lower like would it does it sort of change around that or definitely like the more the windier it is? I’d never go to the hard lobber. I’d probably go towards the more flighted shot, which would be the 930 or the 10. The flight comes down generally. Or also, you’re trying to control spin more than anything. The harder you hit a wedge, the more spin you’re going to generate. So, if the greens were really soft for a 99 yard shot, I might even go to my 52°ree and just hit like a little half kind of bunt, you know, bunk in there. Punch it in there. So, I’m not going to deal with with the backspin because that’s the hardest thing to control. We know it’s going to spin, but often we don’t know if it’s going to spin 2 yards or 6 yards. Do you know what I mean? It’s a little bit of And also, you know, if you land on the green, you land into a tiny UPS slope versus a flat bit makes a big difference. So, those are things you can’t quite control. So, you always want to think, okay, what’s the best decision I can make to be able to feel like I’m going to control the ball to the best of my ability once it hits the green. So, yeah, conditions are always very much a part of your decision- making. Amazing. And you you’ve been at top of the game for years and years and years, but how often do you practice these things? Are you do you come off the course and straight away back to practicing? Yeah, a lot of the time. But um also I’m sort of conscious of not overdoing it these days, especially in tournament play. I’m trying to stay fresh mentally for the challenge. you know, you want to be it’s so you can get so distracted with trying to be perfect that you practice really hard on Tuesday, Wednesday, even Thursday after your round and then you’re kind of a bit burned out by Sunday when you really need you know your your mental skills I suppose if you have a chance to win. So I try to kind of save a bit of gas in the tank but I try to make my pre-round warm up really really um beneficial. So, even though it’s just a warm up and loosening up to get ready for the round, I tend to go through my swing drills, my swing feels. I use it as a bit of a maintenance session. And I always start my uh my practice sessions with some wedge work. So, I’m sneaking it in every single day. So, even though it’s a warm-up, it’s actually a little bit of maintenance practice. Love that. And you mentioned tournaments there. When this video goes out, the BMW would already happen. Yeah. But the Ryder Cup would not have happened. I’m absolutely buzzing. How doesn’t your favorite one I love like the football style chance I love the fans I what what are they like to play in and help us not for you for this one? Yeah. Listen, I’m with you boys. If I’m not playing in it, I’m watching it. It’s probably the one golf tournament I would sit down and waste my time. Not just wasting time, but sit down on the couch and watch it. Like it is an absolute atmosphere. Um head-to-head golf is exciting, isn’t it? It’s like, you know, it’s like we take golf into the football realms and other sports, you know, where the crowd are sort of partisan and they feel like they’ve got an influence on it. Yeah, I can’t even describe it to be honest with you. And then you have a home match and an away match and they feel completely different. So each one has its own character. I think New York’s going to be a beast, isn’t it? So they’re going to be brutal. We’ve been talking about it for probably 10 years now even like New York, New York, New York, and suddenly it’s a couple weeks around the corner. So it’s time to get ready for it properly. But we’re going to have to be resilient. You know, you’re going to the crowd are going to feel like they’re a big part of it, which they are going to be. Um, but I also think we’re going to have a lot of support. You know, I would say the traveling fans make an effort always. You know, you can hear it in football. They make an effort. It’s normally the passionate ones that turn up at the course or turn up at the pitch. So, yeah, we need to hear them as well. Yeah. Some of their chants are off the scale, aren’t they? They’re so good. Brilliant. Yeah. Some of the ones last time in Rome. Europeans are good. I’m not sure about USA. USA. Well, is there any ones that stick out for you that you’ve actually turned around and gone, that’s decent. That’s I think it was 2016. I was playing with Chris Wood. Yeah. And um they came up with if you are playing Chris Wood today, you’re sure. Big surprise. If you were playing Chris Wood today, you’ll be looking up to the skies. I was like, “Oh my god, that’s just so good.” Like a teddy bear picnic song. Um, but they come up with good ones for McIntyre in Rome was good. We buy only car Bobby McInty, but it just sounded good. Yeah. No, they’re great. So disgusting. Heard Lando. Lando’s here. Right. Justin versus Lando. Right. Lando’s here. Lando versus Justin. Justin, you had three shots. You go first. You are the pro. And then Lando’s got to try and beat your score. All right. Lovely to meet you, mate. Yeah. You up for this? Lovely to meet you. Just just earned up. All right, Lando. Let’s see. I’m really I’m really warm and everything, so good. How’s this golf game at the minute? Yeah. Let’s see. Oh no. I dream of things like that. Is it going to That was good distance actually. So we’re trying to hit the ice cream. Yeah. Good number but terrible distance. The big point winner. Go. That’s hitting something, isn’t it? Oh, that’s hit something. 10 points. 10 points. That’s good. Lisa, you’re you’re on you’re on the board. Give me something to play for. Come on. Last one. Big number. Oh Jesus. That felt good. Straight away he knew it’s long. Oh, zero points. Just long. Zero points just breeze. 10 points. I think it’s the drone’s fault. Knocking it out. Darwin. Thank you very much, Justin. 10 points to something to be anyway. Something here we go. Lando, did you six of your finest balls? There we go. How many shots did you hit before I came here? One. One. That’s more than I got. Oh my god. What a flight. Straight off the bat. Zero points. Good distance. Hey, it only gets it only goes downhill from here, mate. Proper flight though. Not bad. Straight out the uh out the car. Really hurt. Go on. Go on. Go on. It’ll bounce on. Oh no. It’s got to unfortunately land mate. I’m loving the low flighted spinners though. That’s a proper wedge trying to do that. Yeah. Yeah. Nice bit of zip on that one. That’s sick. Elliot’s getting on the edge. N nowhere near him. Oh, mate. Three left. Yeah, but I I I just pull and hook everything at the minute. So, keep your body turning a bit more like faster through it because I think it’s just your arms catching up really. Yeah. Oh, that’s cling on. Oh, lucky. Just long zero points. Am I hitting it too long? That one was That was the first one that was long though. What you going now? Loba. What did you hit? I hit 56. Oh, really? Yeah. Yeah, I hit 56. Well, who knows? What’s this one? 60 or 58? 60. Okay. Am I going to get it there? You have to step on it. Oh, hello. No, it’s Go on. Go on then. Oh, 50 points. 50 points. He takes the victory. 60. That was a hell of a point here. I mean, you can decide paid off last night. Do you want your last one or you just going to walk out? No, you don’t. Just Just give me Yeah. Club drop. Lando. Thanks for coming. No worries. But just out of interest, what what happened? What What was different there? Why did the Why was the strike bear? I got through it a little bit more. I felt like he Yeah. So, I felt like maybe the 56 he was not giving it everything. So, his like his body was slow and his hands were catching up. That’s why they were little right and left. And then that one just looked like he just everything was so together through the ball. Looked beautiful. I mean I I thought I would struggle to get lobber there genuinely. I think like for me hit longer than you I think. Yeah, I think so. Yeah. So I was faster as well. That’s interesting though. So for an amateur would you always encourage to hit the full distance of that club that you think full swing? Yeah. Yeah. Well, normally I wouldn’t to be fair. It’s a weird one, but Orlando’s got a good golf swing though. Like the bones of his swing are really really good. So I feel like you could give him some tips that wouldn’t necessarily suit a 16 handicap where I’d normally say the under club all the time anyway. Do you know what I mean? So I’d always normally say club up swing smooth would be my generic tip. But that seemed to suit him really good. But honestly I think the way you’re flighting the ball that was I always get I always get really stuck behind cuz my hips fire. I I’m always like there and then my hands always have to Got you. Which is that’s I mean listen that’s a better fault than most amateur golfers. All I do is watch him on YouTube over the top. Yeah. Get the club behind. Nice shine. Well, that’s love that. Well, whatever it was, listen. Congratulations. Cheers. Great. Thanks for coming. Thanks for coming. Cheers. Enjoy. Right. Up next, the legend Dan Brown. How you doing? I’m all right. How are you? Good. The lovely lovely Ke. How are we? Awesome. Very good. Right. So, basically, you get three shots. Yeah. Kee, you get six. It’s the 99 yard challenge. One v one. One v one. Straight out. Yeah. Yeah. Six and three. Simple as that. Really? Right. Who wants to go first? Not me. Not you. You’re up. That’ll be me. Send Send Send Send the Pro up. Handicap. I’ve had the old wind out with a compass up. It’s just a little bit down off the left. Right. Oh, no. It’s right. Is it is that no? Should be good for number though. No score. Dan Brown scores no points. I’ve had 100 quid with Todd here as well. So, so do you see we better get some points on the board next year. It’s looking good. Here we go. Looking good. Looking good. Hit it. Oh, so it’s landed on 10 points. 10 points. Get extra for hitting it after the bounce. I’m sorry. Sorry, Dan. Only carry, mate. Right. Again, it looks good. Gorgeous. Again, it looks good. That looks gorgeous. Oh, 10 points. Oh, 10 points. Is that good? It’s 20 out of a possible 300. So, then yeah, but you’re up against. Come on then. Okay. Come on, Keith. Disclaimer, I’m a bad golfer. Right. No, you’re not. The geese are on the green. Does know the point. He does know the point. The point system. Yeah. Oh, Dan’s here. Can you uh can you just fudge me some extra points, please, Elliot, next time? Thanks. Good chat. All right. Cheers. Come on, Ke. 20 to beat with six shots. Listen, my goal is just not to shank this. Okay. So, that just walked. I’m not really sure how to act here. Do I act smug or when she misses or am I supposed to be like courteous? You be Dan Brown. You do what you want me. All right. I’ll be then. No. Come on. Cakes. Five left. Thank you. Oh, I just just a little bit just good for number. Yeah. Come on. Right. No, sorry. Okay. So, any swing tips for my program today? Maybe maybe that’s maybe that would help. You’re not looking at me for that, are you? Oh, hello. I like how you I like close, right? You need 20 out of the two remaining golf balls. Okay, maybe I should just aim crazy, right? And then I’ll come back. No, I mean it’s 99 yards and it’s a small target. What a way to end it if you do it. Come on. Okay, come on. I’ll be happy for you if you get 10 points. I know. I kind of kind of feel that’s a lie. I feel that’s a lie. No, I’ll be happy if you get 10 points. I will, just not 25. Come on, kicks. Imagine it. Imagine it. Last minute winner. No. I tried. Unlucky. Sorry. Unlucky. Dan Brown. The pro takes the amp wins, mate. Well done, mate. Good luck this week. Kept my pro status. Unlucky. Love it. I love it. Thank you so much. Well done, mate. On to the next one. Well done, mate. On to the next one. Who’s up next? Yubo the golf life legend himself a few times. Been on the channel and the brilliant Hannah. How are we? You good? Looking forward to this. Right. This is going to be uh an interesting one because you’re double decent, aren’t you? Sometimes amateur very I’ve not heard that one before. Right. You’re up first, my man. Good luck. Okay. Not too close. Are we up? We’re going. Yeah. Straight in. So, we’re doing those turning shots then or three straight out, mate. Put the pressure on. Oh. Oh, you’re joking. Is it zero points? What donate that to them? Elliot’s up for it 10 points. 10 points. You’re on the scoreboard. After that, we’re off. We’re off and running. Thanks, brother. Thanks, brother. Right, Todd. Rich, come on. You got to come in. Just come in. Come on. We’re all friends here. Yeah. Come on. That’s our comp. I’m 100 pound that. So 10 points. 10 points. 20 points score. 20 points scored. 20 points. Not bad. Not bad. Well, mate. Nice one. Thanks. Right hand. Come on. Six shots. He set he set a target. Come on, mate. I know. How far 10 points though? Like how far from the ice cream? It’s 3 m. circumference if my bad wording is right up. Oh. Oh, here we go. Here we go. Go. That’s got to go. Oh. Oh. How many points? Zero points. Zero points. That’s a good distance. We got V on here. That’s a great first one though. Thanks. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Zero points. I feel like he’s going to laugh after he says it. Should we get him up here afterwards? No, for a briefing. Yeah. Come on, Hannah. Oh, come on. Trying to be Come on. Zero points. Oh, he’s having a laugh. Come on. Yeah, ice cream. Oh, 25. Oh. Yes, Hannah wins. That’s it. Unbelievable. Right. Absolutely love you, mate. Thank you so much. Thank you. Who’s up next? Right, here we go then. Match four. And this match is the legend is Richard Manel versus my brother. Another gold life legend himself. We’ve got all of them here today. It’s brilliant. I love him all in the same room. So, he’s a big one. Yeah. Same format. We’ve seen a few before. So, uh, who wants to go first? Well, it has to be the pro. It’s got to be me. Yeah. Three shots, mate. Nervous. How you feeling? Um, I’m nervous now. Coming for a bit of a Yeah, why not? Right. Wednesday have a big event. 99 yards. Come on. Sit. Here we go. Let’s go. Oh, what a shot. Boy, straight in. Come here. Come here. Yes. Oh, that’s not what I needed. I don’t want it to be too all and I don’t want you to beat me again. Was that short or long? Was it short or long? Is an absolute machine. Was that last one long or short? The one you just hit? Yeah. Nice one. Yeah. Love a good chat for it again. You’re a to me, mate. 10 points. 10 points. 60 points points. Yep. Carry 99. Tell you what, I know what my carry there, mate. Not again. That’s all three, I think. That’s all three. Oh, short is it? Short, I think. Zero. Too short. Too short. I don’t like this one voice. You talk to me. Come on. 60 points. Good luck, mate. That’s 10 points each go for you, Bob. This is a tough ask 99 bundle. Yeah, straight bundle. Well, maybe not me. I’ll him. But, hey, why you trying to hit me? Why are you getting so close? I don’t know. Just just trying to work out the distances. You know what I mean? Line up your shot and all that. No, you know it’s safe. I know. What is your 99 yard club? I’ve got the Kian and Gap. You got Come on. Why is it every time I get over a golf shot, I absolutely poo myself? I thought about nine swear words there just myself. Oh my goodness gracious me. That one’s Don’t worry about that one, mate. That’s a That’s a We saw We saw where that went. Come around. No, somewhere in between them two, I think. since there long right. Thanks. Cheers. Long right. Thanks, mate. Oh, come on, bro. Draw. It’s going to cling it. Oh, it’s long, mate. Did it? Too long. About seven yards long. Seven yards long. He’s not wrong either. 106. He knows his yard. Really? No. Big finish, mate. It’s going to be two all going into the last match. Ice cream or nothing. It needs to smash the ice cream, bro. Ice cream on nothing. The 99 yard challenge. Oh. Oh, come on. Six. That is long. Yeah. Bit shame long. Zero points. Sorry, mate. Nice work, Richie. Come on. The pros go to all. Finish him off, son. The last match up. You know who the last matchup is? Todd C versus Big Nervous. Right, it is the grand finale. It is Pros 2, Amateurs 2. And up next, it’s ToddyC in the place to be. Another golf life legend. lie. The reason why I went last is to try and avoid this situation. Yeah. I thought we wrapped up and yeah, I would have been done, but this is it. You’re good from this distance. You’re you know you Yeah, you’re the Spanish hands of the family. 50 in. I’d say 100, not so much. But I’m going for the tree. Who’s going to win? Amateurs or the pros in the DP world 99 yard challenge? Let’s find out right now. Talk to me, Tony. What you What club have you gone for? What degree? Sam wedge. So, what’s that? 54 56 54 54. Take a bit off it. Yeah. Little bit downwind. Come on. Just clutter the cone. I mean, that’s what we want. Three balls, mate. No one’s hit it today. No one’s actually hit now. No. Cool. Imagine Lando and Richard have got 50. I actually think this is bigger than this week to be honest. 60. Yeah. No, but you actually hit the 50 zone. Oh, the zone. Yeah, the zone. You got 65. Now not part of the journey. Not coming back on. Cheers, bro. Oh, I pulled it. Go right. Oh, no. Oh, no. Absolute apple crumble here in it. Good. Oh, come on. Is that short? Is that getting up? Oh, points. Just short. Just last ball, mate. I know. No pressure. Could be zero. There it is. 10 points. 10. 10 points says Elliot. I’ve got to hit something. The voice of the people. Good luck, mate. You got six shots. 10. Come on. To win it for the amateurs. I mean, I’m not going to lie, that was nearly a shank. Elliot, what do you have to say about that? Probably didn’t see it. Not the best effort. Come on. Stop mucking around. Here we go. Oh, yes. It’s right. Good number that. Oh, why you’re not using another club? Yeah. Why are you using a gap wedge? My caddy’s got my clubs at the at the driving room. He’s prepping.
