A golf day organised by a Newbury businessman in memory of his late wife raised more than £1,500 for a cancer charity.
Peter Sharp, owner of Sharp’s Autos in Bone Lane, Newbury, held the event at Donnington Valley Golf Club on Saturday, September 6, to raise money for the charity AMMF The Cholangiocarcinoma Charity, following the death of his wife Traci-Anne in March.

Cholangiocarcinoma is bile duct cancer that accounts for less than one per cent of cancers and has only a two per cent survival rate.
The figure raised by the event is likely to be far more as some companies have donated directly to the charity, and so far £20,000 has been raised in Traci-Anne’s memory.
This includes £300 raised by her former colleagues at Newbury Building Society.

The golf day at Donnington Valley saw 23 players, all of whom knew Traci-Anne, take part. In addition to the £1,250 in ticket sales, it generated another £300 on the day.

Mr Sharp said: “The day went really well , and we will probably do it again next year.”
He added that he hoped it could become an annual fixture.
AMMF is the UK’s only cholangiocarcinoma charity.
Its main aims are to raise the awareness of cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer), to provide information, and to support specialised research teams in their work to find the causes, methods of earlier diagnosis and treatments for the disease. Find out more at https://ammf.org.uk/
