Always a tee, but tee it up barely above ground level so it’s like a fluffy lie.

There’s a reason they only let you do it 18 times a round….tee it up, low
GolfGodsAreReal
That would be a 2 stroke penalty for hitting your tee shot in front of the markers
SnooSnogs10
Tee. There’s so much advantage to teeing the ball up.
Nerdicyde
you get 18 opportunities for a perfect lie….. take them
Kudhi
Me personally I struggle with the mental side of it. I tend to “sweep” instead of compress when the ball is on the tee for an iron. Long irons do get a tee tho I tee up 6 iron down.
Fragrant-Report-6411
Tee. As Jack said. It’s the only time you get a chance to have a perfect lie.
BackNew7215
Tee it just high enough so there’s no grass behind your ball. Take advantage of a perfect lie. Don’t go any higher or you will create more problems of all kinds.

A wise man said if you can put it on a tee. Put it on a tee
Fragrant-Report-6411
Unless you have perfect low point control, you should be teeing the ball up.
BBKINGS14
No tee. I treat it the same as a shot from the middle of the fairway.

No. It throws me off. I never practice with one so why should I?

absolutely tee. but incredibly low

Broken tee only.

I don’t use a tee for any club except my driver

Tee all day
ripper_14
A cleaner lie generally will produce better spin; if you’d like the ball to release more, put it on the ground.
45_Schofield
Always a tee unless it’s a very short par 3, short gap or p wedge.
Vgordvv
I don’t really get why guys don’t hit off tees, it’s too easy? Like everyone is saying, take a perfect lie when you can.

Depends on how much spin I want, and the miss.
Rec Park (Long beach) has its first par3 where its sub 100 yards to center of green. This is not a full shot and I *want* spin, even on a not so perfect shot. If I miss, absolutely don’t mind being short. My preference is not to use a tee.
Most other par3s will be played with a tee, getting a little less spin.
Over-Scallion-2161
Any time I tee it up I tend to chunk it. Same if I tee up a wood, it has to be a mental thing for me.
paniflex37
I was taking a lesson when I first started, and we were playing 2 holes. I put my ball on the deck for a par-3, and my coach looked at me and said “why aren’t you teeing it up? You, along with most golfers, aren’t good enough to not use every advantage the game gives you. It’s hard enough already”.

Unless you see the perfect spot of grass to elevate your ball, you are a fool if you don’t tee your ball up at least to brush the top of the grass

These replies are legit cracking me up. How could someone watch that video and decide the next move was to give your amateur opinion about tee height as if the guy in the video wouldn’t absolutely demolish you on the course doing trick shots only. And if you skipped the video, it’s literally 5 seconds long.
