The Mizzou men’s golf team finished third at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational in Foot’s Bay, Ontario, paced by three Tigers who placed among the top 20 golfers during the tournament.
“It was another solid week for us,” said Mizzou head coach Glen Millican. “There are some areas from today that we need to clean up but overall, good playing from the guys. It is a good start for us on this two-tournament trip and we’re ready to start our prep for Blessings. MIZ”
Junior Veikka Viskari led Mizzou for the second tournament to open the 2025-26 campaign, carding a three-day tally of -6 (67-70-73). He added five birdies to his total during Tuesday’s play as he finished with 17 overall to place 11th in the 62-man field.
For the second-straight day, junior Virgilio Paz led the team in scoring with his final-round score of 71. Paz finished under par in all three rounds for the second time in his career as he matched Viskari with 17 birdies throughout the tournament and placed 12th at -5 (71-69-71).
“These past two weeks have been positive for the team since we played some really good golf,” Paz said. “Personally, I felt solid this week in Canada as I made a lot of birdies and managed my emotions much better compared to last week in Michigan. I’m happy with how my game is progressing and I know there are still many areas where I can keep improving.”
Sophomore Trent Mierl rounded out the Tigers that placed in the top 20, finishing 18th at even par during the 54 holes of play (70-73-73). Freshman Reese Roberts also finished 24th at +2 (73-70-75), junior Bradley Mulder placed 36th at +6 (77-69-76) and Bubba Chapman finished 54th at +18 (77-80-77).
The Tigers placed third overall of 11 schools at the tournament with a team score of -13 (281-278-292). Defending champion Notre Dame repeated as medalists, followed by Michigan, Missouri, Rutgers and UNC Wilmington.
Mizzou returns to action on Monday, September 29, competing at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
