COALVILLE, Utah (UNLVRebels.com) – In the UNLV men’s golf team’s season debut at Utah’s Wohali Classic, junior Ryan Abuan ended Monday’s opening rounds in a tie for second at Wohali Golf Club (par 71, 7,873 yards).
REBEL ROUNDUP: Abuan is three shots off the lead at 4-under 138 after shooting a first-round 1-under 70 and a second-round 4-under 68 in his Rebel debut. Also representing the Scarlet & Gray lineup are senior Trevor Lewis (+7) in a tie for 37th, junior Zach Little (+9) in a tie for 44th, senior Wyatt Plattner (+11) in a tie for 54th and junior Mason Snyder (+19) is tied for 67th in his Rebel debut.
DAY-ONE LEADERBOARD: The host Utes grabbed the team lead at 3-under 565 through 36 holes for a one-shot lead over New Mexico (-2) in second. Abuan will chase Arizona State’s Connor Williams, who currently sits at 7-under 135. As a team, the Scarlet & Gray (+23) heads into the final day of competition looking to move up from its tied-for-ninth spot.
