If I’m going to give you a very interesting scenario. If Tiger Woods once he won the US Open by 15 shots, if Tiger Woods never had a lesson from another pro in his life, Tiger was so good. He was so much better than anybody who plays today. He was so much better on the way than anybody that ever lived. He could never hit the ball like Ben Hogan. Never. Not even close. But that’s not accounts. It’s scoring. I’m talking about scoring. Winning. Tiger Woods. If he never had another lesson, just left what he had, he would have won 20, 22, 24 major.

  1. He could NEVER hit the ball like Hogan. It's true folks. That should tell you how well Hogan struck it AND how complete a player Tiger was. Both fn unreal.

  2. When he won the US OPEN in 2008 I remember saying this guy is gonna win 100 titles 20 plus majors. Then YE Yang hit an incredible 5 wood at the 2009 PGA ElIn caught him cheating and that was it !

  3. Tiger has said that his swing changes were due to injuries and a swing that was making the injuries worse

  4. The guy’s always exaggerating and lying. Also was known to be a cheater when he played. Jack can’t stand him.

  5. Tiger's arrogance cost him. He thought he was bigger than advice. Earl and Tiger got to where they resented Butch Harmon for getting some attention that Earl felt distracted from Tiger. Butch tried to get Tiger to play with that swing that he has, instead of searching for distance. So then Tiger hooks up with Haney, who was terrible, Como not any better. Tiger told us he was working to prevent injuries, but all it did was break down his body and made him more susceptible to injury. Talented, but arrogant. ..

  6. Gary is great but hes full of it, Tiger was great because he had a lot more power than everyone else and his putting was incredible but his power is what destroyed his body. Tiger was FORCED to change his swing because he was destroying his back, hips and knees. Lets not forget there is A LOT of evidence tiger took steroids.

  7. Gary is correct. Also, staying away from the pills, porn stars, and other distracting things would have helped. That said, Tiger in 2000-2002 was absolutely electric on the golf course.

  8. Yep, boy he sure has a special way of getting the ball to drop in!! No matter what that ball has to drop when it's supposed to!!!

  9. I don't understand the statement about ben hogan, if he was that great of a ball striker why isn't his record more on par with jacks, what am i missing.
Was his ball striking intermittent ? Couldn't repeat it consistently

  10. Everybody thinks tiger changed his swing because coaches got in his head lmao tigers swing and training literally caused him potentially career ending injuries in his knees and back and he had to change his swing so he could continue to play the game, his coaches gave him a new lease on life with professional golf.

  11. Golfers like Hogan, Snead, Nelson, and Moe Norman who started in the 1920s – 40s were highly intuitive, well coordinated by for the most part self taught, and in the case of the first three started as caddies and in the case of Snead a clubmaker.

Starting with Nicklaus / Palmer era in the 1960s most pro players grew up at a country club did what their teaching pro / swing coach suggested, with some notable exceptions like Bubba Watson, John Daley, Jim Furyk.

Tiger Woods father Earl imbued Tiger his exceptional intuitive and intellectual understanding of how to flight, steer and stop a golf ball. Earl convinced Butch Harmon to coach him because he realized Tiger was relying too much on his extraordinarily ability to sense what the club face was doing and steer it with hand eye coordination. Butch made Tiger more controlled and consistent.

  12. Gary is right. But….Tiger ever the obsession perfectionist couldnt leave it alone and he never caught Jack.

  13. WHATEVER!!! Byron Nelson won 11 tournaments IN A ROW. And back then you had to QUILIFY on Tuesday to get to play on Wednesday, when play started. He won, got in his car, drove to the next tournament, play 18 holes to qualify, then four more 18 holes, WIN! Jump in his car. Drive hundreds of miles to the next…qualify, for the Tournament, then play 4 rounds…he did that 11 times in a row!!! Nobody could do that now. That is INSANE consistency! Don't tell me that courses were easier back then. Have you ever tried to play with wooden shafts, and gutta purcha balls, even the golf balls of the 60's? Nope, Lord Byron was the best.

  14. Wait. No lessons? He had 100s of lessons to get to that point where he won the US Open by 15 shots! And then, in 2002 he DID stop taking lessons from butch! How did 2003 go for Tiger Gary? How did 2004 go? He literally DID stop taking lessons after that US Open haha.. that's what's so funny about this opinion. Then, after he got with Hank, from 2005-2009 he was prob the best iron player that ever lived (Hogan included, cuz Tiger had the power to hit more shots). This 'advice/opinion' is worse than my mom telling I should have married my last girlfriend.

  15. Gary Player’s swing is nice to watch, but when he talks… seems like he needs Jack to be the greatest to make himself look better. Tiger golfing and Jack on the bag not the other way around.
