Golf Central on YouTube is brought to you by the new Chrome Tour Golf Ball from Callaway. Good evening and welcome into Golf Central. I’m Cara Banks alongside Trip Eisenhower. It has been another busy day in golf. We’ve got a quick 30inut show this evening for you to wrap up all of our postgame coverage. So, let’s waste no time and remind you what’s been taking place out on the West Coast in Napa at Silverado Resort. It is the Procure Championship. But amazingly, 10 of the 12 US RDER Cup players who will be teeing it up at Beth Paige Black in just a couple of weeks time are in the field. And for the second consecutive day, they were grouped together. Four groups, 12 players total. A couple of assistant captains accompanied them. You see Webb Simpson and Gary Woodland there. Keegan Bradley not teeing it up this week, but has been on site watching in the captain’s role that uh of course uh he will be fully in come Beth Paige Black. So, let’s show you then how his men played today. We’ll start with the first group that featured the world number one and a couple of rookies, JJ Spawn and Russell Henley. Well, they didn’t look like rookies today, Trip. Rder Cup rookies. They’re tour veterans, Cara. And this is beautiful shot from JJ Spawn. He’s been doing that with regularity in 2025. Yeah. Get to 600 with that birdie at the 13th. Then what about Scott? He struggled a bit yesterday. We saw some frustrations from him on Thursday. What are the odds he struggles two rounds in a row? Not a zero. That’s right. Scotty Sheffller back doing exactly what he does all the time, controlling distance and beautiful easy birdie there. Yeah, that got him to 500. The whole group with good approach shots. You can see all three of the balls safely on the green. The other man is Russell Henley. His was his birdie look at 15. Had 10 birdies yesterday and off to a quick start on the back nine. His first nine of the second round. Yeah, just so good with that. Part of that got him to 11 under. Let’s go to 16. And Sheffller trying to hold one from 15 ft. Well, about 85 spots better as far as gaining strokes with that club compared to the first round. And that’s part of the reason why he’s moving up the leaderboard. So, they were part of the late early wave. So, you can see Sweater still on a little cool out there this morning. They would make the turn as Trip said, having begun the round on the back. And here’s JJ at the third. You think he likes a little bit of a right pin with that little butter fade? Oh, yeah. That was all over it start to finish. He’s first in gaining strokes with his irons. Converts that to get to nine under on the very next hole. The fourth. Here’s Russell Henley who’s many highlights. Trip on the greens. Yeah. After 10 birdies yesterday. Just only had six today. So cooled off just a little bit for the Bulldog. 19 ft from the fringe. So he got to 11 under. Nice bounce back from the bogey at the third as well. Now Scotty on eight. Also from the fringe. Well, this doesn’t count as a putt because it’s from the fringe, but it counts as a birdie. And look out for world number one. Yeah, wonderful front line as well. Five birdies, no bogeies ultimately. Six under for the championship. JJ nine under, Russell 11 under. They are second and third on the leaderboard right now. Wait till we show you who’s first because that might also catch the eye of Captain Keegan. But we will go to the following group of rider cappers. Harris English, Color Morocawa, and Web Simpson accompanied this trio. Let’s check out what Colum Morakawa did here at the 18th. Well, no surprise to see with an iron in his hand, he’d hit it beautiful right at the flag. And well, that would be a turning in 32 on his first nine holes. Yeah, that got him to five under. He finished the day at four under. Harris English played his third here into 18th and nine. And this is after coming off a double bogey and bogey previously, his previous two holes. And that’s what you call a bounceback. That got him to one under. And he would finish the day at two under. The cuts looking like it’ll fall at about one under path through 36 holes of the Procure Championship. Web Simpson won’t be playing the weekend, but he’s been there all week. Keegan Bradley is expected to leave and go home this evening as well to prepare for Beth Paige, but Colin is tied 23rd right now. Harris English is a couple uh further back at two under. All right, to the next grouping we go and another assistant captain here alongside Sam Burns. Patrick Cantling, Gary Woodland was with this trio and Burns struggled a little. It’s great when you hit in the grand stands in baseball. Not so good in golf. And that would lead to a double bogey. Don’t forget he held a great part of 18 yesterday. Not so much today. Dropped him to two under. In fact, both of these guys were struggling a little. This was a highlight though for Pat. Well, how about that? A seven from Burns. And we counter that with a three from Can. Nice pitch in for the Eagle. Uh got him to three under. He would finish at one under though, so lingering a little near that cut line. There is Captain Keegan in the golf cart alongside his longtime manager Ben Harrison who will be with him at Bent Page. Three-footer here for par for Sam. And Keegan’s not worried about Sam with that club cuz he’s the best on tour. That was an anomaly. Keegan’s not worried at all. Yeah. Uncharacteristic. He’s like, I’m not looking. I’m not looking at that. So, there we have them both tied 61st. Sam Burns and Patrick Hlay right now lingering right there near the cut. Gary looks like he’s played his way into the weekend as well. So, good going for Woodland who was delighted to be called up by Keegan to assist the team. Next up, we check in with the man ultimately who is leading this tournament at the halfway stage. That is a man who’ll be a Ryder Cup rookie Ben Griffin for bloody at 17. They’ve been doing that a lot. Lipping in instead of lipping out. That’s the difference in his year in 2025. That got him to 11 under. Then here he is the par five 18th. Any guesses who’s first in proximity of the hole? Any guesses, Carl? Ben Griffin. Yay! You win the prize. Look at that. Hits it to a foot, converts the birdie, gets him to 12 under. And then maybe he enjoys performing in front of the captain. Just catching up with Kee on the next T- box after getting to 12 under. He’s playing alongside another one of the four rookies that will be in Keegan’s team, Cam Young, as they made the turn here at the first. Oh, and a man who knows Beth Paige very well. That’s Cameron Young. And well, he knows these greens very well. Better, much better today. Yeah, that from 27 ft. Look at that card. He had four consecutive birdies after the bogeying his second hole of the day. He shot five under ultimately today. But back to Griffin now on the tea at the power three second. Just swinging with tons of freedom, tons of confidence. We already know he’s first in proximity and now he’s just showing off. You know, the stress of trying to make one of these RDER Cup teams can show once perhaps you have been pulled up as they now know who the 12 men will be. Perhaps there’s a a little bit of a, you know, the pressure cooker eases slightly. JT is the third man in this trio. Yeah. And you know what? His putter actually performed much better after losing one and a half strokes on the greens yesterday. That from 23 feet. Got him to one under then try and take advantage of the power five fifth despite being out of position off the tea. Well, with that vertical swing and his steep angle of attack, being in this rough, able to get at the ball and not having to worry too much about it, about distance control, and he did that beautifully. Yeah, nice bounce. G left him that Eagle. He missed the part, but two putted for the bird. He finished two under now to six. And Griffin’s second. He’s also really good with his wedges this week. Really good with those. And uh you have a lot of them here. So consequently, he’s converting him and he sits at top the mountain. Yeah, he would finish at 14 under, which opens up a three-stroke lead at top the leaderboard. I mean, imagine if he goes into Beth Paige with a third win this calendar year. It would be quite incredible. Put him really from being a rookie on this team to maybe one of their stronger players. Cam Young is five under and JT two under. So, all three of them will be here for the weekend. Speaking of the leaderboard, let’s take a look at this. When it comes to the 10 players, the 10 RDER Cupers, three of them hold the top three spots on this leaderboard, which has got to be a proud moment for Keegan Bradley. Not only that, they’re all rookies as well. Trip will get into that in a minute. Ben Griffin might be about to make his first ever appearance in the Ryder Cup, but it’s all business for him this week at the Pro Cure Championship. I’ve been pretty focused on this this golf tournament. Um, without a doubt off the golf course, you know, hanging out with the guys and stuff. Um there’s been some RDER cut presence, but once I get on the first TE, I’m thinking about trying to play well here. So, um I’m not really trying to change too much of my mindset. Trying to hit a lot of fairways and um it’s simple stuff. You guys hear it all the time, but literally just trying to give myself as many birdie looks as possible, especially here because the fairways are so tight. You don’t know what type of lie you’re going to get in the rough. It’s very spotty in terms of uh the thickness of the rough. Um and so it’s it’s really important to kind of keep it in the fairway. Um you know, this week I’m just trying to literally do the same stuff I’m doing, trying to stay confident, stay motivated, and um you know, keep the pedal down. I mean, I’m pulling for all the guys to play well. We want to build some momentum going into the RDER Cup. I I think the the European guys are all playing at Wentworth. They’re all trying to play really well and show us what they’re capable of, and we’re trying to show them what we’re capable of. So,
