The field will also include individuals from Memphis and North Alabama.
“We’re optimistic heading into our first tournament,” Southeastern head coach Lawrence Allan commented. “We had some players make some strides over the summer and we’re hopeful we can carry that over into the fall season.”
The Lion starting five will see feature two freshmen making their SLU debut this week. David Marsh and Gavin Ingram will be playing in their first collegiate tournaments, joining Southeastern veterans Griffin Dorr, Landen East and Noah Bumgarner. Junior returner Colby Sullivan will participate as an individual in the season opener.
This week’s tournament is the first of five fall tournaments for the Lions. Southeastern is scheduled to participate in the GMAC Invitational (Sept. 22-23, Onenota, Ala.), the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate (Oct. 6-7, Jonesboro, Ark.), the Turtle Point Invite (Oct. 13-14, Killen, Ala.) and the LaTour Intercollegiate (Oct. 20-21, Mathews, La.) over the next six weeks.
“We head into this season with a much more experienced group, so we’re excited about the fall,” Allan said. “We have a chance to greatly improve our ranking if we can put together some good performances.”
The Lion Athletics Association will be hosting the 32nd Annual Golf Scramble presented by Tangi Tourism and Hampton Inn Friday at Carter Plantation.
