MIDDLEBURY, VT | The Farmingdale State men’s golf team opened play at the Duke Nelson Invitational on Saturday, finishing with a team total of 307 (+23). The Rams sit in a tie for ninth place out of 20 competing schools. Babson (296) leads the pack, while Amherst (297) is currently in second place.
Junior Luke O’Grady-Rodgers (Carmel, N.Y.) led the way for FSC in round one, firing a 75 (+4). He is in a tie for 16th place among 103 student-athletes. Junior Padruig Douglas (Northport, N.Y.) was one stroke back with a 76 (+5) and is in 21st individually.
Junior CJ Merritt (Plainview, N.Y.) carded a 77 (+6), while freshman Mitchel Creamer (Mission Viejo, CA) posted a 79 (+8). Freshman Luke Grebinar (Leominster, MA) rounded out the Rams with an 84 (+13).
Jack Berry of Babson tallied a three-under-par 68 on day one and is the current leader individually. Only two student-athletes tallied rounds under par on Saturday.
The second and final round of the Duke Nelson Invitational will tee off at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.
