BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The Bryan Police Department partnered with Special Olympics Texas for the first Tip a Cop event in Bryan.
The event has been happening in other cities around Texas; however, it started this year at Top Golf. When planning the event, Police Lieutenant Jason James says that it all started with an important message for the community.
“It is about inclusion. We want to be able to have our athletes come out and play the same sports, including them in community events,” he said.
During the event, the organization was asking for donations that would contribute to the athletes. Some of the other ways that the community can give back are through volunteering and coaching with the athletes.
The police department hopes to continue collaborating with Special Olympics Texas in the future.
