Hark, and give ear!

One of the Eastern Shore’s most iconic miniature golf destinations will undergo a permanent closure this fall.

Yes — Old Pro Golf’s Castle, located on 28th Street in Ocean City, Maryland, is shutting its castle gates for good on Oct. 14, 2025.

Until then, Old Pro Golf said it invites its loyal knights, queens, jesters and mini-golf warriors to conquer the castle one last time.

Old Pro Golf shared the news of its closure in a Sept. 5, 2025, Facebook post:

“Hear ye, hear ye! After 50 years of epic putts, daring dungeon shots, and flag-waving fun, the legendary Old Pro Castle on 28th Street is preparing for its final bow.

“Built in 1974, this two-tiered fortress has been a fan-favorite for generations… From the dark, mysterious dungeon holes below to the upper tier with sweeping views of Ocean City. Over the decades, it’s worn many coats of paint, but its iconic waving flags and mighty drawbridge chains have always stood tall, inviting golfers to step back in time for an unforgettable round.

“But alas, every legend must pass the torch. The castle will close its gates forever after October 13th, 2025 — making way for a brand-new attraction coming in 2026 (a secret we’re keeping under lock and key).”

Old Pro Golf — founded in 1965 by Herbert J. and Aileen “Deany” Schoellkopf — operates four locations in total throughout the resort town, with each indoor and outdoor course featuring an elaborate theme.

The mini golf course is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
