ROCHESTER, Mich. – The IU Indianapolis men’s golf team carded rounds of 300 and 299 on Saturday (Sept. 13) on day one of the Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate on the Katke Cousins Golf Course at the Oakland University Golf & Learning Center. Junior Titus Boswell continued to pace the Jaguars, carding an even par 142 (70-72) for the day, buoyed by his 1-under 70 in the morning round.

Boswell made three birdies as part of his opening round 70 and followed with four birdies in his second round, 1-over 72. He sits tied for sixth among the 72-player field and is three shots off the lead going into Sunday’s finale.

“It was a really solid day out there,” Boswell said. “I was able to take advantage of some great opportunities that I gave myself. This golf course demands a lot of high quality shots and I was able to hit some nice ones today.

“I’m not far behind the leaders, so I’m hoping to get off to a hot start and put some pressure on them.”

In the morning round, redshirt freshman Keaton Parmley was next in line with a 5-over 76 and both Jack Scudder and Noah Kirsch were countable at 6-over 77. Junior Brady Schier capped the lineup at 9-over 80. The Jaguars were a shot better in round two as Parmley posted 4-over 75, including a stretch of three birdies in a four-hole span early in his round.

Both Scudder and Schier shot 5-over 76 and Kirsch finished at 7-over 78.

Butler leads the field at 3-over 571 and Toledo is second at 578. Cleveland State is tops among the eight Horizon League teams in the 12-team field, sitting third overall at 581. Green Bay’s Mason Haupt and Notre Dame’s Peyton Blackard are tied atop the individual standings at 3-under 139.

Play will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday.
