MADISON, Wis. — The Western Michigan women’s golf team gets back on the course this weekend at the Badger Invitational.

After a strong start to the fall season, Bronco women’s golf looks to keep the momentum going at the Badger Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin at the University Ridge Golf Course. The tournament begins on Sunday, Sept. 14 and continues through Tuesday, Sept. 16. Participants will play a round of 18 holes all three days, with the top four scores being counted in the final team scores for each round of play. Other teams participating in the Badger Invitational include, South Dakota State, Western Kentucky, Colorado State, Washington State, Illinois, Delaware, Denver, UW-Green Bay, Bradley, Iowa, St. Thomas, Sam Houston, and hosts Wisconsin.

Western Michigan will be bringing a team of five golfers to Madison for the tournament. WMU’s team for the Badger Invitational is Megha Vallabhaneni, Bella Brooks, Jenna Hayes, Lauren Lupinek, and Danielle Daniy. All five golfers competed for the Brown and Gold in their first tournament of the season, the A-Ga-Ming Invitational hosted by Central Michigan. Overall the Broncos finished third at A-Ga-Ming, led by Vallabhaneni who placed fourth carding a stroke under par for the tournament. Brooks also made her mark at A-Ga-Ming, tying the Western Michigan program record for lowest individual round at a tournament at six under par for a score of 66.

The Badger Invitational is held at Wisconsin’s home course, University Ridge. Located less than 10 miles from the Madison campus, University Ridge is a par 72 course of 6,297 yards. The Broncos will tee off Sunday morning at 10:10 a.m. Tee times for the following two rounds will be determined by tournament placement.
