The PGA Tour is expected to return to the Austin market with an event in its 2026 FedExFall stretch, according to four sources familiar with the plan. The people said the event would be played at the Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa, which has four golf courses. A title sponsor for the event could not be confirmed. Golf Channel typically carries the fall events. The PGA Tour did not comment for this story.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the tournament would be a new event or replace an existing one. RSM’s deal for the RSM Classic runs through 2028, while the Butterfield Bermuda Championship announced a multiyear extension in November of 2023. The Baycurrent Classic in Japan starts in its new name this year under a multiyear deal. Bank of Utah announced a new deal for the Black Desert Resort event that begins this year, while the deal around the Worldwide Technology Championship runs through 2027.

Procore signed on to title this week’s PGA Tour stop, the Procore Championship, starting in 2024, though it’s not clear how long that deal runs. Finally, the deal around the Sanderson Farms Championship was extended through the 2025 event.

There have been calls in recent years for the tour to return to the Austin market. The tour has not played there since 2023, when Austin Country Club last held the Dell Technologies Match Play. Austin Country Club hosted the tournament for the entirety of Dell’s sponsorship, from 2016-23.

Though the tour has not had an event in Austin the past two years, the state of Texas is flush with tournaments. The tour has the Texas Children’s Houston Open, the Valero Texas Open, the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and the Charles Schwab Challenge all on the 2026 schedule. The five Texas tournaments in 2026 would be the same amount that Florida has hosted in the 2025 season.

The Austin event would be one of two changes to date to the 2026 fall schedule. The Mexico Open, which had been a full-field PGA Tour event through 2025, also is moving to the fall stretch with the addition of the new Signature tournament, the Miami Championship. The tour is expected to announce its full 2026 fall slate later this year.
