Let’s talk about balls. Now, it’s taken the last 600 years to get golf balls to where they are today, and it definitely shows. Back in the 1400s, they played with these solid wooden golf balls, which definitely didn’t go far. So, they were looking to improve on that and ended up landing on a feather golf ball that was like a leather outer shell with feathers stuffed inside to help the ball go further. Now, I can see as you know, light as a feather, it’s going to make sense that the ball is going to go further, but you’re not going to get any power out of that. So then the balls evolved again and you had this leather sack filled with sap and it was kind of like an 1800’s version of rubber was the closest thing they could get to with this tree sap. And after a long time of that you get to the more current version of a golf ball which came about in like 1899 which was a solid rubber ball with a plastic shell on the outside like a super thick plastic shell like this one. Then come the 1950s and you have golf balls either being wound like this one where it’s all just a rubber band ball and explodes when you open it. Or you’ve got ones that are following the standard just rubber ball in the middle and plastic shell on the outside but with a little bit of a different kind of rubber and plastic to help the ball go further. And today’s golf balls followed the second route where they now have multiple layers of different kinds of rubbers and different kinds of plastic outer shells to give you the best kind of feel for a ball. But with current balls, there are a wide variety of options. So, let me know if you guys want to hear which ball you should be playing.
