Welcome to Kina Park Golf Course. This is Josh and we’re here to help raise some money for an incredibly good cause. It’s back to school for the pro kids at First T San Diego and we’re looking to you and everyone else to help out and help support this absolutely terrific organization. We are at an 18hole par three course and this event has been organized by our two-time club champion Mike Marin. We got some of the best golfers in San Diego out here to try to make some birdies in a hole in one. Let’s go catch up to Mike. All right, we are now live. Mike, how you doing? Good. Thanks for uh thanks for broadcasting this. This is awesome. You’re welcome, man. Welcome. Uh why did you want to do this today? Well, we’re running a fundraiser in September. We’re trying to raise money, I think $5,000 for the Pro Kids program just to get some funding. Um a lot of it’s I think for the learning center. So, I figured um we’ll donate $5 per birdie more money, too. We’ll try to come up with creative ideas and try to, you know, make a dent in that 5K. Absolutely. Well, I know I’m I’m I’m definitely going to be contributing $5 for every birdie one of you guys makes. And if at any point in time someone makes a hole-in-one on camera, there’s an extra 50 bucks on top of that. That’s going to be coming from Josh wins 13. But if you’re watching this at home and you want to help out and you want to know how and why, well, the why is because this is just a great cause. the house. Scan that QR code you see on your screen and go ahead and send some money because these guys can really use it. It’s a great cause. Yeah. In fact, you can see a lot of the kids coming in now after school. And so, as Mike said, this is a a huge after school program. Really gives kids a chance to get to know this great game of golf. Play golf. Um, it’s about education, too. I know like some of the alumni from this past year. I know a couple of them are going to UC San Diego. um SDSU. I know one one girl last year is going to Georgetown, uh Cal State San Marcos. So, these kids are graduating from the program. They’re going to universities and they’re definitely making a difference in the community. You can tell a lot of people are saying it’s like like in the last 10 20 years has gotten a lot better and I think it’s in the last 10 20 years has gotten a lot better and I think it’s you know this program has this program has a lot to do with it. You know what? That’s great. And I had a chance to talk to the to do with it. You know what? That’s great. And I had a chance to talk to the director of director of golf here, Curtis, earlier today. So, let’s hear what he had to say. Golf here, Curtis, a few earlier today. So, let’s hear what he had to say. All right. Hi. I’m here with Curtis Burkhead, the director of golf from First T San Diego. Curtis, how you doing today? I’m doing great. How about yourself? Oh, I’m doing really well, man. you know, thank you for uh hosting us here today. I know it’s it’s a good cause. Tell us what is awesome about Pro Kids and First T. So, it’s just a little oasis of City Heights. So, we teach life skills, education, and core value through the game of golf streets. So, for folks who want to know how they can help out with such an awesome program, what what should they do? So you go to the web, get in contact. All right, welcome back. This is Josh and we’re here live getting ready for the first group to tea off. So again, if you can help out, we would love a donation. $5, anything helps. They’re trying to raise some money for a back to school program, get some equipment, just keep this course in absolutely spectacular condition. What we’re going to be doing today is I am going to be donating $5 every time one of these players birdies and $50 if at any point in time we get a hole in one. And if you can do the same from your home, that would be awesome. If you want to sponsor a player, if you want to say, “Hey, anytime so- and so gets a birdie, you’ll give us $5.” That would also be awesome. This is a truly great cause at a great golf course. How you doing, Lee? I’m good. Have you played here before? I have never played here. You’ve never played here before? No, sir. What do you think? It’s absolutely beautiful. Look at this place. How many birdies are you going to get today? Three. Four. All right. Excellent. Well, every time you get a birdie, I’m going to donate $5. Perfect. And if you get a hole in one, if anyone gets a hole in one just one time, I’ve got a $50 pot to add in to that hole in one on video. It’s got to be on camera. Awesome. We got to do this more often. 100%. Thank you. Thank you, Lee. I mean, you got you got I think 15. We’re going to have 15 players. How good are these players? All good players. Everyone’s single digit or better. I guess Scotland. Oh, I mean I mean we got I mean we got a lot of good players. We got three time champ Tom Wolver, Alex Russian, Parker Quinn. I mean everybody here is good. I don’t want to leave anyone out, but guys hitting wedge on every hole. I think someone’s going to make one today. I’d be I’d be more surprised if somebody doesn’t make one today to be honest. But you never know with a hole in one. It’s you know, hit a good shot and get lucky. I hear somebody got one like yesterday. I wasted it yesterday. I know. I had a witness EMTT over there, my boy EMTT. But uh yeah, I made one on three. You’ll see. That’s actually a pretty good one. But I’ve only made um I’ve only made two out here. and you have a lot of opportunity. So, it’s not like not like super easy to do it, but we’ll see. I remember uh when when you know my my son Roman was here for his birthday party and uh you know you you helped us out in terms of getting the tea times and there were 16 kids. First kid, first hole hole in one. Shout out to Parks for his hole in one. That was pretty wild. And then he was all nonchalant like oh I’d already had one, you know, and like okay. But anyway, this is a pretty fun place. The team’s a little different. It was more left right when he made it and you could kind of bank it in off the bank. It’s more like center front hole ones. There’s a chance for someone could make one on hole one today. That’s like one of the easier pins. So be exciting. That would be cool. That would be very cool. All right. Who’s uh who’s our first group? Mike waiting on it’s uh Danny Danny Chris and we’re actually waiting on that creepy Oh, in our group, Bob and Jeff Harris. And we’ve got our microphone set up on the tea to get the sound of the contact. Tripod set up right behind the tea box. Try to get as good of an angle as possible. I mean, Brian did say we could just meet us on Zoom or we could sp. And while you guys are going to be playing all 18, I am only here till 5:00. And so I’m going to be sponsoring two holes. Every birdie on either of those two holes is going to get $5 from yours truly. Six is a hard hole. It should be $10. Well, you know, if if if we if you guys play fast and get to nine, right, then it’s easier. We’ll play fast. I don’t know about the guys, but we’ll play fast. one guy. So, this is Scotland Schmidt and if you have been anywhere near my channel, you’ve probably seen this guy. He is our newly crowned Baloa Park Club champion. Scotland, first of all, congratulations. And second of all, is it gonna be nice to not have to share a cart with Kirk today? Great partner. I mean, obviously you won, right? Yeah. Yeah, it was good luck. I mean, he did ditch me on So, you won, right? Yeah. Yeah, it was good luck. I mean, he did ditch me on 18. I 18. I And 14. Yeah. And 14. And maybe a couple other times in the round, but you know. 14. Yeah. And 14. And maybe a couple other times in the round, but you know, that’s Kurt. That’s Kurt. and you had a great time. Obviously, the success, the accolades have poured in since then. Okay, Josh, that bit’s getting old. So, uh, what what’s your goal for today? Uh, I mean, go have fun, support the kids. I mean, make make a bunch of birdies so we can donate some money. So, every time anyone here makes a birdie, I’ll be donating $5. If at any point in time somebody uh gets a hole in one, there’s a onetime $50 pot on top of it. So, I’m rooting for some birdies and maybe a hole in one on camera. Okay. So, don’t come up short on any of the wedge shots. Then, just go flag hunting. Exactly. Look, if if there’s 16 times two, it’s 32 people on, you know, 16 people, two holes. Uh, that’s a lot of birdie pops possibilities, right? We can raise a lot of money for this place. I’ve never I’ve never played here, so I I don’t know how. I mean, you brought you brought your driver. No, I did not, but the greens look a little small and tricky, so I I don’t I don’t know. We’ll see. Now, now, do you have your four iron or does Kurt still have it? I don’t I don’t have You don’t have it with you? No. No shots today. Right. I have an eight iron. That’s probably way too much club. Nice. Out of curiosity, how far does your stock 8 iron go? It’s like 165, 170. Yeah, I don’t try to blast my irons. Says the guy who out drove Kurt Gamage almost every single time in the last round of the club championship. I’m sure that’s true. But maybe he mis hit a couple. I don’t know. Hey, good luck today, Scotland, man. Let’s raise some money for the kids. All right, for sure. All right, we are about ready to head over to the first te here. Three-time club champion Tom Wall going with the fulllength putter. All right, let’s make our way to the first te. And there he is, Bob Grace. Hey, Bob. How you doing today? How you doing? I’m here. You’re here? Yeah. So, now you’ve played here before? I have. Uh oh. I’ve played in a few pro kids fundraisers here over the years. Um, but you I played here in junior golf. Course was a little bit different layoutwise. Uh, much nicer today. Um, but actually made a hole in one out here. My second one ever. We got a bowl. Nice. Yeah. Uh, well, if we get a hole in one today, that would be cool. So, for every birdie that I get on camera, I’m going to be donating $5. And if we happen to get a hole in one on camera, there’s an extra $50 on top. Just once. But, you know, let’s see if we can raise some money for the kids. Oh, yeah. No, absolutely. I’m uh I’m hoping I was asked on the way down here uh to donate a little bit of money for somebody anonymously, but I also said that I would hope that the plan would be that uh whoever wins the skins just goes Absolutely. I think that’s the idea. I think everyone’s here in a generous mood. I I I’m kind of I kind of think that for us, but it’ll uh it’ll make it’ll do some good here. Absolutely. You know, it’s a great cause to say the least. This place is phenomenal. I mean, just everything that’s happened down here over the years. I mean because I came down here and when none of this structure was here and you know the the police cars and the sheriff’s helicopter and everything else that was those were here because this place was a little rough back then uh you know 40 50 years ago but uh yeah no this place this such amazing things that the rights and everybody since then have done as far as the first tea goes. This is This is This is the birthplace, baby. Absolutely. Well, let’s make some birdies and help support this great place. Absolutely. I’m all for that. Say hi to my consistency here. All right. You can see all of these golfers getting ready. And this is a par three course. I mean, the holes range from about 50 yards to like 105 yards. They’re all par threes. They’re all short. And we’ve got one of the most impressive assortments of golfers here today. I mean, these guys are really good. I mean, six club championships from BBOa Park alone amongst the folks who are gathered here today. Anyway, let’s head our way to the first tea following El Dubs. The first birdie. Let’s go. And birdies. Birdies are good. And if you’re following along at home, there’s a variety of ways you can help out. And you can just donate at any time by simply scanning the QR by simply scanning the QR code on your C on your screen or clicking on the link in the descript on your screen or clicking on the link in the description and you can help us out and you can help us out. Or you can choose to play it more like a game. When someone gets a birdie then you or you can choose to play it more like a game. When someone gets a birdie then you can chip in $5. You can chip in $5. Your choice. So we’re going to make our choice. So, we’re going to make our way to the first tee. We are going way to the first tee. We are going to sponsor this hole. We Josh wins 13 is offering to sponsor this hole. We Josh wins 13 is offering $5 for $5 for every birdie that’s made on this hole. And if someone happens to get a hole in three birdie that’s made on this hole. And if someone happens to get a hole in one, there’ll be a one in one. There’ll be a onetime $50 bonus paid out to the time $50 bonus paid out to this wonderful charity. This wonderful charity, First T San Diego Pro Kids Golf. And uh this we’re here on the uh the first tea waiting for our golfers to make their way up. We’ve got a microphone on the tea to help it. Uh we might even get Mike to do some commentating. He does know this place so well. As long as he’s not navigating the late arrivals here. I haven’t seen Chris Donnelly. Is he coming? Oh yeah. Okay. Yeah. I mean, we could always just deduct them strokes. They could use the help, right? Or we could use the help. They’re not to the back. They’re not to the 350 and four. So, we’re cool. Now, that’s our one mic. So, essentially, it’s when I’m holding it, it doesn’t necessarily mean I’m handed to you. It just means I’m I’m going like that. But if I do hand it to you like this,
