A BUDDING Tiger Woods became the youngest player ever to sink a hole-in-one at Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club in its 125-year history, at just nine years old.

Theo Parsons achieved the ultimate golfing feat on August 18.

The Broadlea Primary School pupil, coached by PGA professional, Chris Reed since 2021, had his place in the club’s history confirmed this week.

Theo started playing golf at the age of four and became a member of the club in September last year.

He has been playing regularly on the course ever since.

Theo hit the ‘ace’ on the second hole — a par three, spanning 145 yards, using a 6-iron.

Many golfers go through their entire lives without ever getting a hole-in-one, but Theo has already achieved the sport’s hardest feat at such a tender age.

The remarkable achievement was witnessed by his parents, Gary and Annabel, both club members, during a pleasant summer evening round.

The family couldn’t believe their eyes as they watched the ball roll into the hole.

In their excitement, they all ran to retrieve it, forgetting their clubs in the process.

Theo, a fourth-generation member of the club, has been described as having developed a keen passion for golf over the past 18 months — practising and playing several times a week.

On top of his hole-in-one, he also managed to achieve a personal best score on the front nine, shooting 40.

His great-grandparents were also dedicated members of the club.
