so when you hit that Big Slice with this club just to begin with the first thing that amateur golfers tend to do high handicappers as well using these hybrids is they’ll set up and they’ll just allow for the club just to close down like this so where the tow end of the club gets ahead of the heel massively now this isn’t going to do you any favors because when we get to the top of our swing think about what causes a slice an out to win a big out to win swing path of a club face being left open to the path so that’s going to cause that big curvature to the right but if we just change the club face angle and have it pointing left well that’s going to be pointing in the same direction as our path is traveling in so we’re going to see that pull to the left so what do we do after that we then aim right to try and adjust this and then we end up pushing it or hooking it we do all sorts at the address so what I’m going to tell you to do is the total opposite I actually want you to forward those hands a little bit and allow the heel end of the club to go ahead of the toe end so the club face is going to be left open a little bit what is this going to encourage you to do why should you be doing this and how is this going to help you improve your game let’s have a look well we’ve just said then if we close the club face down like so with that out to win swing path we’re going to be hitting that double cross it’s going to pull too far to the left right well that is first coming from the way we attack the golf ball so the way we attack the golf ball with these hybrids a lot of us will try and hit down massively on the golf ball thinking it’s something like a 9 or eight iron with the big saw the bottom of the face here like this 11 hybrid here they’re designed to be hit like a four iron so yes we still want that ever so slightly downward attack angle to hit the ball then ever so slightly Turf afterwards but we’re not supposed to make massive div with these clubs either and when we close down the club face where is that making you want to attack the golf ball it’s making you want to attack the golf ball on this right side of the ball here so I come into impact I’m going to want to get even more so over to hit the golf ball from that side to hit a solid strike because if we actually come from the inside sh the club down like we see a lot of the tour players do with these clubs is going to cause a low hook so if we actually leave the club face ever so slightly open like an iron where the hands if we were to draw a line from where my hands are going directly down towards the ball not too far ahead not too far back however either just directly in line with the golf ball that’s going to set you up to want to attack the golf ball from the inside if it’s too close you’re not going to want it to attack from there you’re going to want it to attack over here which is no good from this point here we’re going to want to attack it from the inside toout path and that’s what’s going to really help you fix these hybrid shots and start hitting them solid more often so what I want you to do just to begin with hitting a few shots is I want you to imagine you’re going to hit a Chip Shot I want you to imagine you’re just going to take a slightly narrower stance than normal you’re going to have your ball position ever so slightly more forward from the middle again we’re treating this as like a four iron especially with me getting the 114 hybrid here a ball position there ever soly in the front we’re just forwarding the hands a touch just to allow that heel end to ever so slly overtake the toone and what I want you to do from here is I want you to just make a couple of chipping swings just feeling like you’re swinging the club ever so slightly more under plane and then over plane so in to out how are you going to attack the golf ball from this point here we’re going to attack it from going this way trying to produce a more of a high draw like the shot I’ve just hit there earlier so just practicing that a few times and we can start to hit a few shots just simply doing that motion there if you do try this with a higher lofted hybrid from 11 golf you’ll notice that they will go a little bit high you can get a bit more feedback from this so same again just practicing that movement there we go that was a better one just trying to get these balls to actually start out to the right of Target the slice is caused from the starting direction to be left of Target so we’re already working it the opposite way just simply opening it up and allowing it to attack from this side of of the golf ball but that’s what I want you to practice just to begin with hitting around 5 to 10 shots doing this then building this up into Fuller swings so I’m going to take an alignment stick and I’m going to place it just on the front side the toe side of where the club would be I’m going to place it on an angle where I can exaggerate it enough that it feels awkward but also where I can exaggerate it enough without me actually hitting the stick what I can do is I can allow my normal takeaway and then from the top I’m trying to attack the ball this way I’m trying to allow the club to almost follow that alignment stick on the ground so just to begin with I’d recommend you just swing into the top allow the club to hover over the stick nice and slowly making your way up to the top and then from here the Temptation is to fire is to move the shoulders out is to move the hips out in front what I want you to do is pause at the top and allow the club and arms to fall down so up to the top arm and Club falls down towards your right foot Trail foot and that’s going to give you the right angle to then rotate and attack the golf ball from the inside so just in stages to begin with up to the top drop down and then hit like so then we can start to build this after a couple more shots five 10 shots building this up into all in one motion right pressure’s on now doing this and there you go just for me practicing that there taking the hybrid to begin with over the end of that alignment stick working my way up to the top and then I’m allowing it to drop first and then rotate seeing that club visualizing that club attack the ball from the heel side of the golf ball and following that stick on the ground 11 golf believe they sell the best game improvement clubs on the market specializing in their unique hybrid design from three iron all the way down for pitching wedge and these promote a higher launch more forgiveness and can be put to the test from any lie if you’re looky for more custom options I’ve left a link to their site in the description below that right there that drill I’ve just given you can be more than enough for you to go and practice with but what happens if you’re struggling with this what happens if you’re struggling to develop this all into one movement well there’s something else that you can do a very simple move that you can do just to help you ensure you’re getting this club to fall down and then attacking the ball from that inside path and that is very very simply forwarding the hands more what do you think forwarding the hands more is going to encourage you to do it’s going to make you want to attack the golf ball well from the inside isn’t it to promote that into out path you’re going to want to try and curve that golf ball back from the right rather than curving the golf ball back from the left side of the Fairway so forward the hands and we’ll notice they’ll start to go out to the right just because we’re exaggerating that mov at the address position and then we can begin just creeping it in just up until the point where the heel is only just ahead of the golf ball and there you go there’s another lovely shot with this hybrid so we’ spoken about in this video a very simple tweak that you can do in two seconds and start to attack the ball more from the inside get that shallow diver after the golf ball and hit them solid way more often but there is so much more to these clubs that we need to be aware of so if you’d like me to do a full guide on how to hit these clubs I want to see at least 50 comments down below and I will get that video done for you and why not check out this video over here as YouTube believes this is the perfect video for you to watch 1. Many thanks. I’ve got Eleven hybrids and I pull every shot left. I’m getting great distance and height but cant hit the ball straight. This is exactly what I needed.

  2. Thanks like to practice lowering my arms first in the downswing then turn. Like to think of brushing the grass after the ball.

  3. Excellent video Harry on hitting the hybrid proficiently! For the last decade or so, I have learned to love my hybrids. They are definitely a rescue club when needed! I have recently put a set of hybrid irons into my bag and I love the wide soles on the club. I am hitting them fantastic! Happy Holidays to You and Yours! Looking forward to more lessons from you in 2025.

  4. I have been adding these hybrids to my bag and so far, I love them. I would love to hear more tips on hitting these and maybe some focus too on the mid and short irons. At present, I have a 6,7, and 8. Probably will add a 5 after the Christmas shipping rush. Thanks for your videos.

  5. Thanks Harry. I am sharing my story below in hopes of helping other fellow golfers. I struggled forever with hitting low pull-hooks with my hybrids. Of course it had to be my hybrids since all my other clubs were good. Hmm. I finally discovered it was my grip. OMG, could it be that simple? I thought I was gripping the club in a manner such that the clubface was slightly open and indeed it was at setup. But when I raised the club to eye level and “fully extended” my arms, suddenly the face closed 5+ degrees. I re-gripped the club from this position (club felt wide open even though it was not) and I finally started hitting high soft draws, even with my 3 hybrid. Now I know why these clubs are so great. Did this a bit with all my clubs and have essentially removed the left side of the golf course from my game! Hope this helps someone. I thought my grip was perfect and clearly was not! The key is to check your clubface when your arms are fully extended.

  6. I’ve had mine a month now, full set of hybrid 11s, I found the other day that if I drop my trail foot back a touch, as with the 11 driver, they go straight as a dye. Absolutely love my 11’s !!

  7. Hey Harry, great lesson! I just purchased Eleven clubs 5-PW, plus a gap. Can’t wait to try them. Please give a review and any other tips. 👍⛳️
