MINNEAPOLIS — The Wisconsin men’s golf team sits in eighth place at +11 after day one, round two of the Gopher Invitational thanks to junior James Boustead’s career-day. All four Badger scorers placed in the top-50 at the Windsong Farm Golf Club in Minneapolis Sunday.

The South African is tied for the third-place, going -4 on the card after 36 holes. He notched a career-best 68 in the second-round, tallying six birdies to boot. His first-round 70 was propelled by two birdies on the final three holes.

William Harned, UW’s top preseason qualifier, sits in 34th following his consistent 72-74 day, shooting +4 overall. His two resilient birdies on the back-nine made up for a double-bogey on the fourth hole.

The senior tandem of Jacob Beckman and Spencer Turtz each earned top-50 finishes, tying for 49th at +6. Beckman used a +3 second-round to score for the Badges, while Turtz fired an opening round 73, including a 34 on the back-nine.

Senior Charlie Erlandson scored for UW in the opening round, going +2.

Boustead will lead the Badgers off tomorrow at 7:15 a.m. (CT) for the final-round 18 holes.
