ALTOONA, Wis. – The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s golf team competed in the Blugold Georgianni Invitational this weekend against the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugolds, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Eagles, and Viterbo University V-Hawks. The Gusties won the invite with a team score of 664 (+92).

UW-La Crosse was the runner-up to Gustavus with a score of 674 (+102). UW-Eau Claire placed third with a score of 683 (+111). Viterbo finished in last with a score of 774 (+202)

“Players had another solid round today,” said Gustavus assistant coach Sarah Wolter. “Eau Claire Country Club is laid out a lot like Le Sueur Country Club where we practice, so the players have been working on the types of shots that they knew that they would face today. It paid off, especially on some challenging holes with elevated approaches into the green. I’m proud of how they persevered, especially since this is their first tournament since classes started and so they’re balancing a lot. They made Gustavus proud.”

Lauren Hubbart led the Gusties with a tournament score of +21, placing third overall out of the field of 36 golfers. The senior shot +9 on Saturday and +12 on Sunday.

Riley Zebroski followed at +22 for the two-day invite. The junior shot rounds of +11 on both days of the tournament.

Addison Longie tied for sixth overall after shooting +24. The first year had rounds of +9 and +15 during the invite.

Teckla Wahlstrand was the fourth Gustie to finish in the top 10 overall, tying for ninth with a score of +27. The first year shot rounds of +12 and +15 at the tournament.

Up next for the Gusties is the D3 Classic starting on Saturday, September 13 at the Emeral Greens in Hastings.
