Thank you for watching this HowDidiDo Academy video on what different putter grips you can use to improve your putting.

missing puts not feeling comfortable over puts why not try something [Music] new why not change your grip on the putter here’s five ways to hold the putter the first one to look at is the conventional putter grip now you don’t hold the putter how you hold all your other clubs so there’s no need to interlock what we do is we put the finger trigger finger down the side of these fingers so they are touching the hands but they aren’t interlocking I think the conventional is a real well it’s a real feel type of grip it can be easy to manipulate the face though so from long distance you could be okay but from short distance you can manipulate the face because the hands don’t feel as secure because we want more feel in order to progress from the traditional grip we now see many people putting left below right the wrong way round so if you’re a right-hander it feels like you’re holding it left-handed now Lydia Co switches grip she has a traditional grip from outside of say 12 fet for f and then inside that Hing Zone which I am now she goes to left below right why because this keeps the clo face a lot more stable through impact and it’s a lot easier to keep the club lower to the ground through impact now talking through this grip you set the the right hand or the non-love hand at the top and then the left hand below once again there is some interaction but it’s more of an over overlap rather than an interlock so we overlap the left and the right hand in this manner here so you can see that my hands have switched directions which makes my shoulders a lot squarer watch when I go to traditional the difference in my shoulders to left below right so it keeps your shoulders squarer and it keeps the putter face squarer and it’s something that I have used now for over 10 years it feels so comfortable to me and very secure I actually use this grip in all my puts not like Lydia Co moving on to the third grip now if the left below right just feels too weird and you like to still have that feeling of using a similar grip all the way through your bag then stick to a traditional feel but in order to keep the club stable and the face not opening and closing so much during the swing why not do what Brooks kepka does he puts his trigger fingers down the shaft so that holds the shaft squarer so his left finger is down and so is his right it keeps the Palms facing more this way rather than being like this during the swing next up is something that we have seen a big shifting with Tor Pros over the past five years the likes of Tommy Fleetwood Justin Rose they use the pencil grip which certainly takes a new level to of how you the golf club the first three that we spoke about they look quite similar to how you would hold a regular Golf Club but this pencil grip is not so first of all you think about the glove hand or the left hand if you’re right-handed that sits at the top next up it’s like you’re doing a pincer action like you’re a crab with your pincers the thumb sits behind the grip and the two fingers sit to the side so suddenly our right hand is barely on this grip it’s just going through this V here and what this does is it feels like you’re brushing the club it’s not like you’re swinging it you feel like you’re just brushing the club across the surface and there’s more of a I suppose a sweeping stroke pushing action through the ball rather than a hitting and Swinging action it takes care care of the right hand you feel like you aren’t using the right wrists because they’re preset and you are just pushing the ball towards its Target now the only disadvantage I would say over this is on slow greens it’s hard to get the right pace because it’s such a a small movement it’s more of a push than a hit however they all play on the PJ tour and those greens are quick so let’s look at this so left hand sits up here we get the pins are AC and we feel the brushing towards the target it works there’s a progression from the pencil grip so the fifth grip that I’m going to talk to you about is called the saw your left hand sits on exactly the same your right hand still has that pincer action here so you put it in the V’s in the v in that hand but it sits across the top this is something we’ve seen col Mor cow use what it feels like it feels like you’re doing this feels like you’ve got some separation in your hands whereas earlier I was talking about being connected this is the other way so we put the pins in behind and we put the hand over the top and you’re just feeling like you’re brushing towards the target the squareness of the club face is there to see especially on those last two puts that I’ve hit the one with the pencil grip and the one with the saw grip so if you have a lot of face rotation and your start line is not there at all then those last two that I spoke about are for you so thank you for watching this video as you saw saw from the start to the Finish there is a progression in those grips on how different they look and how much they help your game I would suggest from 1 to five they help your Club face stability more and more and more so if you’re struggling with a Yip action or turning that face too much strikes not there maybe start at a sore grip but if that feels too extreme then work your way back down but it’s important for you to know that there is more than one way to hold a putter grip and the reasons why they help it’s all about stability through the shot and getting that start line bang on thank you for watching this how did I do Academy video get yourself out on the pussing Green dry those grips and it will help your putting whichever one it is I hope it works [Music]

  1. Wow, I never realised how many grips for putting there is. I have a bigger issue with distance control. Always short
