Hello everyone, welcome back to another video. Welcome back to the channel. My name is James Ward, head professional at Ju Street Golf Club. Today we’re doing a comparison video. We have done the review of the new Ping I240 which went down very well. Thank you everyone uh for watching that, enjoying it and leaving all your comments on that as well. Today we’re putting it up against its its competitor from Tailor Made the exact sort of same club or the exact same category of iron and that’s the Tailor Made B770. So, you know, we’ve got two clubs there which I think both both look good. That’s been an improvement I think of the I230. That is just a gorgeous looking iron. So sleek, proper blade looking club which, you know, a tour inspired look, you know, which which everyone wants to see behind the ball. Even so, say for myself who is, you know, scratch golfer, pro golfer that looking down the ball, you want to see that blade, but we’re not good enough to sort of use them. And that’s what these two clubs do. So, we’re here. We’re going to hit some shots. We’ve gone the on the GC quad to get some numbers. We’re in the net to start with so we can use some top quality golf balls to get some uh some proper good numbers and we’re going to go golf course, hit a few shots there. Let’s do it. So, we’re going to start with the Ping. Yeah, my shaft fit in fitted into it. Dynamic Gold X100 bit Vasa. We’re going to go to front actually see a little bit of ball flight. So yeah, I think the um the 240 obviously we’ve got an improvement in the looks I think. Let me know what you think in the comments. So just right on that number. I literally cannot get a seven iron over 170. Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet over there. It feels I’m using the ZX87. It feels as good as that. Really, really solid, really consistent. I think it’s good to do comparisons really because it’s going to feel nice in it. Obviously, it’s going to be a nice club. Ping. It’s a top top manufacturer. Then you change the club and you go actually it’s everything you’d want from a seven. So, we’ll discuss numbers sort of after just there. Nice focus on strike. Really good. Yeah. Yeah. Really solid. Really nice sort of soft feel from that pin cuz sometimes it can feel, you know, a little bit maybe harder than any than others. Maybe that’s harsh. But no, really nice. And I could I could put in that in the bag from them numbers there that it’s showing me. That could go straight in. So, let’s change over now, which is absolutely gorgeous. So, we got the P70 now. Get a few shots. Felt really nice. Maybe a jumper. Well, actually this. No, no, cuz that’s gone 185. But there’s a butt to discuss which is potentially what you wouldn’t want. Now that it could be number of reasons, but I have got good golf balls. You know, they’re all TP5s that we’re using today. like the first bad one of it. So, we’re going to come on to numbers in a second, but there’s a little bit of movement with these numbers. Struck nice to be fair. So, when I’m hitting them, very, very similar. I would say that ping just feels a little bit more consistent. And we can see that from numbers as well. Everything’s gone left. Was that am I set up wrong? I always seem to get this GC quad setup wrong. But so we can see here I put these numbers on screen now. Hopefully you can see. Oops. Put these numbers on screen there now. So what I’m seeing there is that I2 I240 is absolutely solid numbers 168 to 172. They’re all similar left like the average distances there like that. bit of a spread, but you know, we’ve got a 79 170 one pull. It’s classic me there, but distance is so good. And that’s what that’s what you’d be wanting from sort of say myself is 170 is bang on for me. That is my seven iron. That’s what you’d want to see. We do we wouldn’t ever want to see that P770 number when it goes to 185 unless it’s 185.85 185 185 185. Start step on a par three and it’s 175 yard straight over the back. Well, when you go going over the back of par 3’s usually means disaster. Very rarely that something’s right. But the one there just a spin knocked down. Now it can be it can be a GC quad that’s just not that spin-off or the golf ball. But like I said, they are good golf balls. So, um you would usually tend to see these numbers being pretty bang on. interesting numbers there for you to see. Let me know comments what you think of them. Going to go out to the golf course now, hit a few seven irons and see, you know, we can see more of a trajectory, more of a launch. So, fourth hole here at Jbury. Classic seven iron shot. I’m about well 150 markers there, but we’re massively uphill. So, we’re just going to hit some and see. So, the the spin was getting knocked out of that 770. So, we’re just going to a few shots here, see if this holds the green like um we’d want it to and see how it feels, you know, in a in a game situation. Absolutely red hot today. was the right yardage that side. That is maybe what I was doing. Um on the range they did say left on that launch on the GC quad. That’s a nice shot at the green. Yeah, we’re getting up. So that that would that ball flight and everything would give you that. So maybe maybe it was a rogue number and sometimes good to see test that because they’re flying up and that one you know pin well maybe well I mean you wouldn’t be looking at getting to that far. I mean it’s in a position there back left where perfect for this shot. I can aim at the middle of the green like that middle of the green. Just turn it and that’s perfect into the shadows. We’ll go see. But that basically has given me a lot of fight because that’s what that I’ve seen that being said like they can more bullet out the 770s when really that’s the P790 the distance one that 770 is a totally different golf club um for a totally different player. This I240 is the one that I just think I’d get you’d get even more help. That’s beautiful. That That’s the one. [Music] Maybe short, but the distance can be different because you measure that. But that that would that were better feel. We’re going to do the results and everything where we sort of we’ve discussed everything. Look at that. Not a great strike, but still a nice feel hitting that straighter, which I can I don’t like saying it’s because of a club because if there’s something I do, and that is turn the ball over left. So, I’m not saying it’s a P7 P770 that’s doing that because we’re on an uphill lie as well. Even that one. Yeah. So, more solid and stopping it going left. You know, same setup. They just set up a standard live. Right. Interesting. So, let’s head up there. Let’s give us final verdict on the 770 and the i240. Right. Well, check this out. So, this is golf in 2025. first of all. So that that’s the P770 shot one of uh we I might have to go find him. So we’ve got P770 here. Whoa. Apologies. So we’ve got P770 here. So we’ve got the P770 here like that. It went into the shadows. So I think we’ve probably used that banking. The other two Well, one I’m just going to say this is golf in the summer of 2025. One’s pitched probably about here and we can’t see it. There’s one down there by the blue tea which you’d never get up and down of there. 100 balls. But these I 240s. I’m going just search for pitch marks here cuz we’ve obviously landed on this front edge at fourth. If you know the fourth at Jbury, we’ve got one pitch mark there, one there. So we’ve hit the green with all three solid strikes and they’re all down there. all three next to each other. So they’ve rolled. I’ve got about 50 yard in from there which and it’s the hardest pitch shot you have ever seen. So that would not be sweet. In fact, you’d be fuming. You could even walk straight down there straight to clubhouse and just pack in from there. But so final verdict looks we’ve got to give it to the P770 because I think it just looks that sort of bladed club. um blade that bladed club on there. That does look nice and it’s an improvement, but we’ve got to pick a winner. So, it’s got to be that feel. It’s got to be the ping. After hitting that first on these shots and then going to that, you can just feel that softness, that quality of strike on that. Even though the shots was obviously further away, we’ve got the best shot being with the P770. So the performance is obviously still good with that, but the feel with that as well. Performance they are up there because it’s, you know, similar numbers. And if anything, the performance that did go a little longer that sort of feels better. Forgiveness wise, to be fair, I’ve hit them quite well, but I would say the the the better shots are with that ping as well. And I think overall I think we do have a winner and it’s the Ping I240. And that’s a that’s because it’s a winner because that is what I would put in my bag. If I had two choices two, the Ping would be the winner today. So let me know all your thoughts below on that.
