Lewisburg, Pa. – The Le Moyne College women’s golf team is in 16th place following the first round of the Bucknell University Fall Invitational on Friday afternoon at the par-70, 5939-yard Bucknell Golf Club to open the year.
The host Bison extended their lead for first place to 13 shots with a total of 590 after posting a 293. Mount St. Mary’s moved into second place with the best round of the event, a 289, for a total of 603. Purdue Fort Wayne carded its second straight 304 to move up a spot to third at 608. Holy Cross dipped to fourth at 609 following a 307. Duquesne and Saint Francis are tied for fifth at 612. The Dolphins are in a tie for 14th place in the 19-team field at 657 following a second-round 324. Bucknell’s Joelle Johnson moved into first place at 145 after tallying a 72 on Saturday.
Junior Gianna Cafarella (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory School) is in a five-way tie for 49th place to lead the Dolphins at 158 after turning in a 78, which featured three birdies and five pars.
Freshman Caroline McShea (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) also recorded a 78, which included one birdie and 10 pars, to move up two spots into a tie for 61st place at 161.
Senior Riley Stuver (Webster, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) is part of a four-way tie for 78th place at 168 after registering an 83, which included one birdie and five pars.
Sophomore Lauren Williams (San Francisco, Calif./University HS) is in a six-way tie for 83rd place at 171 after posting an 86, which included five pars.
Sophomore Olivia Dahn (Bristol, Conn./St. Paul Catholic) is in a tie for 92nd place at 175 following an 85, which included one birdie and six pars.
The third and final round gets underway on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. with the Dolphins starting on the 10th hole at 9:30 a.m.
