It’s the final game of three. The Mariners try to establish things today against the Phillies. The pitching has been a problem for the Mariners on this road trip, six and a half, er, a this rotation had on this trip. Meanwhile, the Mariners haven’t been able to get much going off of other teams pitching at times. Jesus Lizard who is 11 to 6 on the year with an, er, a of 4.21. He certainly has been better than a strike three call top of the zone. He went with a changeup and he wins the battle against the Rose arena after falling behind three to 02 to two swing and a miss second strikeout. This is what success the lefties have had against Cal Raley, the off speed pitches and that is just a perfect one. You got an aggressive hitter. How far he was throwing at that back foot and get a swing and miss, here’s the pitch on the way to julio Rodriguez, fly ball , left field Mars tracking watching and it’s gone. Julio Rodriguez with a first inning home run number 25 of the season. The Mariners are on the board one to, that’s a good pitch, better swing. Mariners playing from ahead, which is nice to see sign right here. We talked about the struggles they have had against ST pitching. Some of the ones on this trip swing and a Miss and Lazard strikes out the side here in the first. He does give up the home run to Julio Rodriguez to put the Mariners on the board. First, luis Castillo 8 to 6 with a 3.4 80 making his sixth start of the year trying to bounce back from a rough outing in New York that first game Citi field as he shoots this one out to right center field. Rodriguez is back, he reaches up and he can’t get it. It’s off the wall. Turner is thinking three, he’s on his way to third. He slipped a little bit but he’s still going to get there triple of the year. He’s now hit in 10 straight games. I thought julio Rodriguez was going to come up with this thing , but Trey got out of the box. Well, Tom, and we know he turns on the Jets. It’s a pretty special thing. Here’s kyle Schwarber having a super year Schwarber banning 249 but he has 44 home runs, fly ball center field Rodriguez going back in the shadows of Monty’s angle who will make the catch Turner will tag fifth RB I of the year for Kyle Schwarber and the Phillies have tied it up at one that is a new career high for Kyle at RBS. We mentioned last night that he probably wasn’t going to settle with tying his career two on for the Phillies. And this is what these guys do. They hit the ball all over the place, swung on, fouled away. He had a pitch to hit there. That was the center cut. As you’re going to get that guy made a heck of a catch. He caught it twice. Oh, yeah. And the youngster still stayed in his lap. He goes, that’s a big out. Number two strikes out on a good slider that helps they just trying to get settled in a lot of these pitches flis and getting swing and a miss strike three. And that’s going to retire the side. A couple of strikeouts for luis Castillo. The Phillies going to run to tie it and Garver a leadoff single for the Mariners swing and a Miss strikeout. Number four, striking out defense going to be special today swing and a miss. He went to the fastball, five strikeouts, five outs, five strikeouts. Got to the fifth pitcher this at bat against JP at first fastball. He saw swing and a miss struck him out six outs, all strikeouts to start for Jesus Lizardo. A productive out for Kepler. He’s now hitting four straight and he is starting to stir. He goes pitch Lowe throw to second base on one hot. Not in time. 30 steals for Trey Turner. Pretty good jump. You mentioned Cal Raley, his throwing ability. The Phillies are on the move and now the Mariners have to play the infield in with a swing and a ground ball to second Cole Young is there his throw to first and it’s in time to get Harper and luis Castile gets out of a pickle himself. This is the ninth time going back to 1920 that a Phillies starter has recorded the first six outs via strikeout swing and a miss. He got him seven strikeouts. Second time he’s gotten a Rose Arena now, Raley is coming up swing and a miss fastball got him and another strikeout for Jesus Lazard who has eight Ks through three innings today by julio here he’s thought full three, two strikes, ground ball and another base hit for Julio. He’s two for two. He was behind in the count early oone called time out. You can see him think what is he going to throw me now? He’s going to waste the pitch. Rodriguez is out at second base Phillies leader in pick offs, just got another one. Mariners are going to look at it. Let’s see him right on top of that. A strike three called nine K’s. That is perfection back door breaking ball so easy to give up on as a hitter breaking ball lined to left Marsh coming in and he will make a sliding catch and that is out. Number three, no runs, one hit a 2 to 1 lead as Max Kepler leads off line drive down the right field line toward the pole. It is gone out of the ballpark solo home run for Kepler. It’s his 13th of the year. It’s 3 to 1. That was a heck of a catch by the fan in right field too. That young man with a great catch out there. Yankees and the Phillies have the most home runs since the all star break. It went out there pretty quick on that 108 got about 100 by the time it got to him, it was it off Jesus Lazzo who has already struck out nine through four swing and a miss, he got him double digits for Lazard and we’ve only got one out here in the fifth inning swing and a miss, he got him. That’s number 11. What a run this has been, this is what the lefties for the Mariners are going to see a lot of slider sweepers but in a great spot swung on, popped up on the infield stock coming in near second. He will make the catch on the infield grass and there’s a 123 inning for Jesus Luzardo in command. Again today, Ferguson will take over for the manager of the lefty swing and a fly ball in the shallow, left center field. Julio coming in, dives and he makes the catch, he gets to, it rolls over on the grass and left center field. What a play by Julio and the Phillies cannot score here in the bottom of the fifth inning and they leave two runners stranded. Jesus Lazzo gets back to work going to miss that’s 12 strikeouts. He’s one away from his career high. Another perfectly located pitch and there’s the second out and Rob Thompson still with that right arm leading on the dugout rail, not going to make a move here. Right center. Here’s a pitch high in the air to right. It’s pretty deep. Kepler is back on the track in front of the wall. They’ll make the catch and the side is retired and six strong again for Jesus Luzardo, Jesus Lizardo, six innings, three hits , one earned run, no walks and 12 strikeouts. He’s done. David Robertson will take over for the Phillies. Here’s Geno, he’s going to lead off the inning for the Robertsons rips this ball down by the pole in left field and it is fair and it’s a one run game. That ball was tagged one home run shy of 40 on the season for a Eugenio Suarez. Tell you what he’s starting to heat up. That ball was absolutely torched into left field. So both of the outs today for Kepler had been productive with runners on the corners and one out bring up Bryson ST he goes, pitches shot down the left field line. Marshall score. Stott stops at first fader stops at third and the Phillies add on it’s 4 to 2. You have that any better on the move. And Suarez going over to third tapper over the mound coming home off the glove of young. Everybody is safe. Another run scores. It’s 5 to 2. Harrison Bader got a really good secondary lead off of third base. Young having to rush it, I believe they gave Turner a base hit. And so he’s got a four hit game and another steal is 31st 1 to 0 to Schwarber. The pitch swinging a ground ball right side, it’s through onto the glove of Naylor in to score his start. Here comes Turner. The throw gets by at the plate. Both runners score Phillies lead it 7 to 2 as Schwarber takes second on the overthrow. That’s what they’ve been looking for, I tell you the Phillies are doing all kinds of little things , right? And every extra RB I adds to his career high. Here’s Harper ball through the left side of base hit Schwarber tightly around third. He will score and Harper picks up an RB I and the hits just keep on coming. 8 to 2 Bills in the blink of an eye. They’ve opened the game up. The return of jose Alvarado has arrived after serving his 80 game suspension, he is back and he got a nice round of applause too. Alvarado last pitched on the sixth 96 days ago, two down swing and a miss struck him out. Cal Riley goes down again and jose Alvarado returns to the big leagues with a strikeout of the home run leader moves the runner along to third base with two down and it will bring up Trey Turner who has got a shot at a five hit game here. Bouncer back to the mound as well. The leg of young as he flips to first, it’s another hit for Trey. He’s got five hits today and a run scores. Kepler crosses the plate first time that Trey has got a five hit game in his Phillies career. Schwarber has singled doubled. He is a sack fly. So three RBIs and a high fly ball to right field going back is rally at the wall. He jumps and it is gone. Two run home run for five and counting for kyle Schwarber 11 to 2. But how about him going down in his legs and getting that one? The Mariners are desperate to get home right now. Anybody who’s been in baseball a while knows what this kind of a moment feels like at the end of a nine game four city road trip about to lose your fifth in a row with 17 strikeouts. It’s sharply to second on one hop. Bryson ST has it and the ball game is over. The Phillies have swept out the Mariners, a very good Mariners team and they took care of business today. They finished the series with a record number of hits in a three game series and a record number of strikeouts by their pitchers in a three game series. They win it 11 to 2.
